The training was outstanding. The problem was that we trained a bunch of people and only a few of us ever actually used it. We did the level 1 online and the level 2 onsite.

The training would be more useful if the students were able to get a copy of all of the content presented in the classroom for reference later. But for some reason, some of that info is not shared.

It’s fairly easy to understand so it was easy to acquire the skills by having existing solutions and making new ones. It’s not that easy to find training material or even find the information to contact a local vendor for help.

I want to use the Rest api but it’s not obvious how to accomplish this.

The package our organization bought came with Level 1 online pre-recording training and Level 2 live web taught training for Scribe. The training was a must-have for new users and integration customizers. There might be the need to additional practice or level 3 training. Since Scribe is mostly point and click, the solution is intuitive and can be self-taught for advanced database users. Any advanced integrations need additional level 3 training, which I don't believe TIBCO offers. Additional documents, guides, how-to, and formulas would be helpful to reference during implementations. Online reference guides are extremely lacking and not very helpful.

I have past experience with multiple other integration bus implementations. Learning to use Scribe was fairly easy for me, given that it is simple and much like other tools. I like that it is far less complex to set up than more expansive suites such as WebSphere ESB and Dell Boomi. Most of my issues using Scribe have really centered around the user interface, sometimes not updating row counts while in-process, and the inability to multi-schedule one solution.

  • In-person training
I was the primary contact and was the provided with the most training. I think that the training was incredibly important as without a moderate programming background and at least some familiarity with what is required to sync information it would be hard for someone to navigate. But with the training it is fairly straight forward.

I self-taught myself everything necessary to operate the product and was able to breeze through the first certification course. The more advanced certification course was about half review but then offered some good insight into building more efficient maps and extending Scribe outside of the environment I was using it in.

I attended a training conference on scribe early on in my usage of it. This was helpful for some tips and tricks on handling more complex situations that you may come across. I used my documents later on sometimes when I was building maps. I did find the training was more geared towards using the built in scribe connectors (as this is easier to train for) and did not expand on building your own connectors.

I could create quite complex integrations and I was able to deal with most of the issues in Scribe. Sometimes I missed the knowledge about dealing with many issues at once and solution was usually to set up everything separately.

The Scribe Insight product is very well designed in that it can be picked up fairly quickly, and organized in a way that helps finding functionality and features in a short amount of time. I have no doubt that the online and in-person training options speed up the learning process, but it is possible to use it efficiently with self-training.
