- Veeam Backup & Replication, Cohesity Imanis Data and Dell EMC ECS (formerly Atmos)
Veeam too restricted in what it will backup Cohesity too expensive. Dell too expensive and not best reputation for reliability at the time.

10 years of Reliable Backup
Originally we were using EMCs Networker and a tape library to do Backup and Recovery, Unitrends [Data Center Backup and Recovery] was night and day better.

Integrated onsite and cloud backups.
- NAKIVO Backup & Replication and Veeam Backup & Replication
We selected Unitrends backup because it was a hardware solution, a dedicated, self contained appliance. It had all the features we needed and was easy and logical to use. The fact that it was Linux based gave us an extra edge in reducing the likelihood of ransomware attacks. Adding Unitrends cloud backup allowed us to have offsite backups of critical systems all from the same integrated solution.

Unitrends for "Peace of Mind" Backups and Recovery
I have primarily used Backup Exec in previous positions, though I have used many different versions. In comparison with Unitrends, the Backup Exec licensing model is prohibitively expensive. The interface is somewhat cumbersome to use. Recovery does not always go as planned. I have yet to experience a recovery failure with Unitrends. Bare metal recoveries work flawlessly.

It works, but is not the best solution on the market

I didn't choose Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery, and I wouldn't choose it on the next refresh. There are much better products that are easier to use.
In terms of pricing, Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery is fairly reasonably priced for an all-in-one backup and recovery platform. It is simple enough to use. You would probably get more bang for your buck rolling your own server and storage and running Veeam, but that would require staff time to build, manage, and maintain such a system.

Unitrends backs you up!
Unitrends was similar to the competitors in what it provided but what sold us was the price, the availability of support and their replacement model. Demoing the UI really showed us how easy the platform was and how quickly we could get up and running. In three years, we have had to replace two HDs and they came next day and support got them up and running inside an hour, both times, while the appliance continued to work!

What Backup, Restore & Disaster Recovery means to me keeping my job.

Each of these solutions have certain features and functions that make them useful. When compared to the Unitrends product, personnel, support, the complete feature set available and roi it's no comparison. The ease in which Unitrends was setup and started was not only quick but also provided allot of knowledge transfer. When you buy Unitrends your not just buying software but the company behind it which stands with you all day every day.

Unitrends for Local Government
We found the Unitrends solution to be a better fit than Legato, Barracuda, Dell/EMC and other solutions. They are relatively price competitive, and frequently offer good upgrade/expansion financial incentives. They could improve on the scalability of solutions, instead of forklift upgrade. Overall a good value for our money, to include a simplified management interface and top shelf technical support.

Unitrends is Not a Product of its Time
- Veeam Backup & Replication
Veeam just seems like a modern backup and recovery solution as compared to Unitrends. There is very little babysitting involved, and it seems to process backups much quicker. (Some of this may be due to sunning Veeam on a scalable virtual server as opposed to a physical appliance.) I also like how if there is a problem with a backup, the errors are more descriptive. Veeam also has a better knowledgebase.

Recommend Unitrends to all your Unifriends!
We evaluated Veeam for a short time, but the current pandemic put a hold on most major changes we had planned. As of now, we have no intention of moving away from Unitrends because the service offered and quality available to use makes moving to a new service seemed unfeasible and unnecessary.

Unitrends Backup and Recovery - the set it and forget it option.
Unitrends is far easier to configure, use and administer as compared to Veritas. We selected Unitrends based on the live demo that they provided showcasing the ease of use [of] their recovery package. In the past I would have to contract engineers to come in or connect remotely to assist with the Backup Exec package which adds to cost factor of the product if I needed assistance with configuring new servers, but with Unitrends I simply deploy a small agent and add it to my existing back up jobs, and then just wait to verify that the back up was successful.

Code 42, Amazon. We decided to use Untriends for ease of use, the dual ability to be on prem and cloud replication as well as their DR. The price was reasonable and the roll out was pretty easy. The best thing I can say is it just runs. I don't have to worry about it.

Unitrends Good, Bad and Ugly
All are valid solutions but they all have their issues. Our target was single product that would provide storage, backup and replication. Only Cohesity could manage these however they did not support all of our workloads at the time of eval nor did they support output to tape. I would suggest that most any provider can backup the data, but Unitrends fit our needs.

A great system with easy to use management portal.
When you factor in the ease of use with the included software clients it is win/win with the Recovery Series Backup Appliance. No longer is it necessary to Purchase product add on's to make this system cover every system on your network. Baremetal backups make it possible to recover to non-like hardware.
