Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Our team uses Miro for internal brainstorming, capacity mapping and availability, and strategy collaboration. We also use it for client engagements to synthesize research and conduct virtual strategy and design sessions. Our heaviest use is with stickies and tables; we use other tools for wireframing and design. During sessions, we also use timers and breakout rooms for smaller group collaboration.
  • Real-time collaboration with multiple parties
  • Organization of layout
  • A single place to iterate on an idea or problem over time
  • Accessible from multiple devices
  • Honestly, I stopped using Miro as much as possible because it wouldn't allow you to copy content to the computer clipboard to paste into other programs. I created the content, yet Miro held it captive. I heard they now allow you to copy your own content now, but I've changed my habits and program stack now. I'm still miffed about that BS.
  • I keep Miro tabs open to go back to when needed. It drives me crazy when I go back to a tab and I have to refresh it because Miro "added new features". Let me decide when I refresh. It's really annoying to be on a video conference sharing my screen and everyone has to wait 10-30 seconds while Miro forces me to reload the tab.
  • Similar to the above, I've also lost quite a bit of content that I've typed into Miro text boxes only for it to reload and it's all gone. That's another reason I haven't gone out of my way to get back into Miro more often. It did that to me last week. I had a board open for an online course and had been taking lots of notes. Miro decided to not keep any of that and I lost half an hour rewatching videos so I could retake my notes. Not fun.
  • Why do you limit the amount of text I can place in a text box? I know of no other program that limits character count. I do a decent amount of research and take interview notes in a separate program - so as not to fall victim to what I detailed above - and when I go to past a long block of text into Miro I have to break it up into smaller chunks.
  • Enabled virtual whiteboard collaboration sessions - which was crucial during the pandemic when we couldn't travel for in-person sessions
The only products I've used in conjunction with Miro are Sketch and Figma. Being able to link artboards into a Miro board has allowed us to share graphic assets with clients, while still being able to update them on our side as needed
Miro is one of the tools we use for team collaboration. We rely on Teams/MS Suite, Sketch Cloud, Figma to work together with remote team members

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I liked MURAL, but someone else switched us over to Miro. I believe Miro had better collaboration functionality at the time.
I like MindMeister better for brainstorming
I feel Miro as more powerful than FigJam, but not a comparison to Figma. I'd never wireframe or design anything in Miro.
Miro is very handy for collaboration - both in-team and cross-team. It also allows for password protecting boards and giving editing rights to temporary collaborators. In this way it is better than FigJam. Miro also has a ton of creation options to choose from, but I/we don't use very many of them because our needs are met with sticky notes, tables, and timers (the music is a nice touch).
Due to past experience, I'm gun-shy on trusting too much to Miro. I also don't like having to work around its quirks. We can generate some massive boards with tons of content. This will slow the browser down. There are other tools with similar functionality - Whimsical, MURAL (I've used extensively), MindMeister (I currently use), Creately, Figma/FigJam (I currently use heavily) etc. Miro is another tool that is very powerful and my team uses it every week, if not every day.
