Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer
I used TeamViewer personally to connect to my own computers remotely. This allows me to have access to my home computer and network while at work. I also use it occasionally to access my secondary work computer and network while away. I also use it to transfer files between computers.
Pros
- Great free option for personal usage
- Shows the status of all devices
- Works for both Mac and Windows
- iOS app available
- Easy to use for accessing remote computers
Cons
- Not the best interface design (but seems to be improving)
- The file transfer interface on Mac isn't the best
- The pop-ups at the beginning and end of each session can be a bit annoying
- Allows easy access to multiple computers from any location
- Could be used for browser testing web applications
I selected TeamViewer after LogMeIn removed their free option for personal use. LogMeIn was a great product, but with how little I used it, there was no sense in upgrading my license. I initially tried Chrome Remote Desktop, but I began having connectivity issues. After trying TeamViewer, it seemed to be the closest free alternative to LogMeIn that I could find.
