Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer

I used TeamViewer personally to connect to my own computers remotely. This allows me to have access to my home computer and network while at work. I also use it occasionally to access my secondary work computer and network while away. I also use it to transfer files between computers.

Pros

  • Great free option for personal usage
  • Shows the status of all devices
  • Works for both Mac and Windows
  • iOS app available
  • Easy to use for accessing remote computers

Cons

  • Not the best interface design (but seems to be improving)
  • The file transfer interface on Mac isn't the best
  • The pop-ups at the beginning and end of each session can be a bit annoying
  • Allows easy access to multiple computers from any location
  • Could be used for browser testing web applications
I selected TeamViewer after LogMeIn removed their free option for personal use. LogMeIn was a great product, but with how little I used it, there was no sense in upgrading my license. I initially tried Chrome Remote Desktop, but I began having connectivity issues. After trying TeamViewer, it seemed to be the closest free alternative to LogMeIn that I could find.
TeamViewer works great for my usage, occasionally needing remote access to my personal computers. I'm able to get full access, for both Windows and Mac. I don't find the experience isn't as good as when I used LogMeIn a few years ago, but the price is much better. Windows Remote Desktop might be another good option for Windows users, but it does not show a list of available devices like TeamViewer.
