Any business that has workers in multiple locations or workers who are based out for the office for significant periods of time will really benefit from the 8x8 cloud-based system. Your direct line follows you around, but because of the Virtual Attendant, office hours and out of hours can be configured so that you only receive calls when you're "at work."

It seems to me that it is good for sales-driven companies. We use it in our customer service department which covers both sales and service and its perfect for this application. Our call volume is generally pretty low. I'm not sure how well it would work in higher volume environments. As a supervisor, I do appreciate the ability to monitor calls, and call transfers work quite well -- you have the option of doing a "warm" transfer, where you can talk to your team member while the caller is on hold, or a "hot" transfer, where you just connect the caller to your team member directly.

  • Remote access to my phone system to make changes or to use its many features.
  • The ability to view voice mail transcripts - very helpful during meetings when listening is not an option.
  • The new contacts search feature allows you type in partial names and all that apply pop up.

  • Talkdesk works on most browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Safari - and it does well across different devices/computers.
  • We can depend on Talkdesk to be reliable and not be down. It has never been 'down' in the entire time I've used it.
  • I like the simplicity of the UI. It isn't overwhelming or full of areas that I have to fill out. It gets me on to the next call quickly and efficiently.

  • Voicemail passwords. 8x8 imposes certain limitations on voicemail passwords, like not letting you use any number combination that is also a year between 1900 and 2019 I think. We have used the number combination 1957 for a particular purpose, not related to the year, but 8x8 will not allow us to use this as a voicemail password. I think users should be able to choose whatever passcode they'd like for their voicemail, as long as it's 4-digits or more, or whatever the parameters are.

Talkdesk is incredibly easy to use! Its usability is one of its strongest qualities. The pie charts are especially my favorite. I love that you're able to click into them to see more specific instances of your queues and availability. This is one of the biggest reasons I would use this system!

In the time I have used 8x8 Virtual Office, the core system has been up and running almost flawlessly though we do have a slight performance degradation from time to time as is expected of cloud software. The one recurring issue for us is that the fax connection is not always functional for outbound messages. We usually have to retry three or four times to get the fax to connect reliably to the destination machine. Once connected, it's smooth sailing.

None of the features that are available slow down the application. The reports (even the ones with hundreds of records) complete very quickly and the web interface as well as the mobile application never struggle to load or complete a task. The analytics will sometimes take some time to reflect the online status of users but it is to be expected due to connection speeds.

I really didn't ever contact support for Talkdesk. I'm not able to speak to the benefits provided in this manner! As an administrator, I was told often that there were things or changes that could not be made and that's the reason I don't have much information to add here.

8x8 Virtual Office

Although RingCentral and 8x8 provider similar offerings, I find the pricing and ease of use more appealing to 8x8. I also like the US-based customer support that 8x8 offers. I feel the feature set for Vonage for Business is not as strong as either RingCentral or 8x8. For smaller businesses needing less than 50 extensions or a large number of remote teleworkers, 8x8 has great price points and features compared to Ring Central. For businesses needing more than 100 extensions, 8x8 may not be the best-fit cost wise.

We've had periods where our organization has grown a considerable amount and we have had no issues in scaling our communications with 8x8. The number of possible extensions that we can use is far more than we expect to go through in a very long time. The only complaint that I have is a very minor inconvenience for me where I have to download activation codes for each phone. I would prefer to have the phones automatically activated as soon as they are plugged in.
