Act-On

If you have an existing CRM system, like Microsoft 365, you can integrate campaign automation with Act-On, and then it is worth most of the time it takes to get less-experienced employees on-boarded. In other cases that require more minimal use, the on-boarding may be too lengthy. In that case, it may be better-suited to choose a different SaaS that tracks campaign, ROI, lead scoring, etc.

Net-Results

Net-Results is very well-suited for small, medium and large businesses. They seem to be more advanced than what a typical enterprise level implementation would require. When selecting a marketing automation provider make it a point to find out the level of integration with Salesforce and other marketing technologies. Do they have pre-built automation modules or does it require building from the ground up? Also ask questions regarding its specific capabilities ... for example: is it a marketing automation provider? is it a CRM provider? etc

Pros

  • It's been really easy to get started with Act-On! There are great step-by-step guides inside the platform on what you need to do in order to start using the system, and if any of the steps are unclear you can simply go to Act-On University to get a more detailed description.
  • So far I've been in contact with my CSM (customer success manager), technical support, the area manager and the creative team and everyone has provided competent and friendly service.
  • It's really simple to re-use assets such as forms, emails and landing pages. It saves our team a bunch of time since you almost never need to start over from scratch. To edit the assets is really simple through drag and drop functionality with great flexibility.

  • Net-Results has a very powerful segmentation engine that allows us and our clients to customize outreach and nurture tactics to almost any parameter imaginable. This allows great flexibility depending upon our business, our client's business and products. If you want to send nurture prospects based upon site activity, lead score, specific pages or topic areas and even company data.
  • The open API allows interaction at very granular levels and allows us to create custom reports and implementations for our clients when needed. Another point that shows Net-Results power and flexibilty.
  • Customer service and Tech support are incredible. When our team has issues with the interface or certain functions Net-Results is quick to respond with status, troubleshooting and solutions.

Cons

  • The available reports are quite static, so there is not much you can change. However I do know that this is a function that is more advanced if you go up to the Enterprise version.
  • The alerts to sales people could be developed further, at the moment they are mainly based on demographic's of the visitor but I would like to be able to connect them to lists as well.
  • The calendar provides a good overview of what has been done, but to fully optimize it I would like to be able to add planned activities. This would give the team a better possibility to plan and coordinate.

  • Every marketing automation provider can work on their on-screen help and documentation for regular and complex tasks. They could explain how their Include/Exclude logic works for complex scenarios. Luckily Net-Results has free phone and email support, and they respond super quickly.
  • I would like to see an A/B module for both subject lines and body copy. Or maybe I have not found it yet.
  • I would love some built-in engagement tools to add to my site, to get people to fill out.

Net Results is pretty easy to use and understand. I wouldn't say that it is the best in comparison to MailChimp's drag and drop email builder, but Net Results do so much more than MailChimp that it is hard to even compare the two. Overall Net Results has good usability

Often we need to integrate with legacy systems and we find the support team on our side during the whole endeavor. Always asking if they can help us further, always willing to do a better job. What impressed me most is that Act-On showed full committment in making our implementation successful, even when it required additional support from their team. This gave me a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings. Most other software software vendors are not anywhere close to being this responsive and effective

Alternatives Considered

As a company, it's much more organized, much more in contact with customers, and much more willing and able to pick up their feedback and incorporate it into the product. Pricing wise, it's also much more balanced, with a fairer price mode. It's also more agnostic, in terms of CRM and other integrations. The partner program is also clearer, and IMHO better.

--Priced much much better than the big dogs in the industry, and similar to platforms with much fewer features--Support is excellent and includes phone support, which the others didn't--Doesn't need to take over your blog and host it on their site, like others do. --Doesn't upcharge and nickel-and-dime you for new feayures, like the others do--Doesn't have a very expensive set-up fee. No set-up fee.

Return on Investment

  • As stated in a previous section, one positive impact we have seen so far is the fact that we are more productive and efficient. We are no longer chasing after prospects that are not really interested in purchasing our product.
  • Our marketing team is able to produce nice reports to present at our team meetings every week.
  • The customer support has been so amazing. I needed help with something and had my answer within an hour! I was very impressed by the level of service Act-On provides to their customers.
