Adobe Target

1. We changed ship dates on individual product pages depending on customer location so they would have an accurate timeline for their orders. This really helped lower our volume of customer service calls on tracking orders.2. We have stores as well as an online presence. With Target we were able to advertise sales on b-stock items from our warehouse to our local customers without letting those that live outside a certain radius see the promo.3. If your marketing team doesn't have a tech background this software has a steep learning curve. There is quite a bit of manual configuration required. The image carousel is one example that we struggled with.

Leadpages

It's great if you want an easy-to-use but extremely robust tool for producing effective online marketing pages since it makes production work enjoyable and inspires fresh creativity. It also offers wonderful split-testing capabilities which can enhance marketing results. But if you're looking for an out-of-the-box collection of standardized, one-size-fits-all marketing resources, you really might want to consider looking elsewhere.

Pros

  • Because the software is established there is lots of online help available and most of the bugs have been worked out
  • Adobe has a vast supply of resources if your pockets are deep enough.
  • The dashboard is easy to follow and is getting more user-friendly. You no longer have to be an HTML wizard to implement changes.

  • Leadpages has excellent resources on getting started with the tool - their support and help articles stood us up in the platform very quickly. The learning curve is fast.
  • Leadpages offers a wealth of templates for the most common use cases, and for us as a team without a dedicated coder or designer, having a starting point that we can adjust for our own needs was invaluable.
  • Leadpages support was quick to respond and always followed up on my concerns.

Cons

  • There should be some more clarity around what makes a test significant. While this can be decided by the client themselves, some direction from the tool would be helpful.
  • Also, if there was an easier way to organize campaigns and search for them it would be helpful. Right now there is just a long list of campaigns and you have to rely on search to find a specific campaign. What if you don't know the name of the test?

  • Templates are always a trade off. While they do provide "ease of use" they often lock you in to a particular arrangement on the page. For example, I almost always want my logo or my client's logo to be larger in the header area. Not possible to enlarge. And if it is, I haven't found it.
  • While the API officially works with our email software Aweber (among others) it's really dicey sometimes to meld the two. You're supposed to be able to use the javascript version of the optin boxes with Awber but we always wind up using the longer, less flexible HTML version. Maybe it's Awber, maybe it's not, but then Lead Pages shouldn't say that it works with either version because it doesn't.
  • Sometimes the autosave doesn't work and you lose ALL YOUR WORK and have to start over. A real drag.

As per my last response, integration with the rest of the Adobe Marketing Cloud is a key factor for us.

Can be difficult to learn, but once you understand Mboxes and the nuances of the system it's very user friendly

It's by far the best support experience I've ever had with any company. Many staff members know my name and my business, I'm treated as a real person with genuine concerns, and I feel constantly rewarded by working with this company. In dealing with support, I feel like I'm dealing with trusted friends who honestly care about the results I'm getting.

In-Person Training

Adobe Target8.1
Based on 3 answers
The instructor that came to train us was awesome and this training was very useful. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to be using this software. I only mark it lower because it is an added expense to an already expensive product, and a lot of the training covered the "Target" portion of the software (which again, we didn't use)

Online Training

Adobe Target6.1
Based on 3 answers
The training was very easy to understand, however it would have been more useful to my development team than me. It was also primarily over-the-phone, which is never as easy to follow as in-person. We ended up scheduling and paying for an in-person training session to supplement the online/phone training because it wasn't helpful enough.

Alternatives Considered

I have used Google Analytics on my personal website but I can't compare it with Test and Target, because Google Analytics is free which will do less than what Adobe Test and Target does.

I believe that Leadpages is the most full-featured and reliable solution for hosting landing pages and creating forms. What it didn't offer until recently was the ability to manage email campaigns and customer lists. Their Drip product offers some of that functionality now. It won't replace a robust CRM platform or an ATS solution, but it will offer some functionality to a growing company.I chose Leadpages for it's ability to host professional-looking landing pages and forms. I was using AWeber at the time to manage my email lists and Leadpages was the landing page solution in my tech stack. I'll still use Leadpages for clients who need limited but reliable functionality on a small budget.

Return on Investment

  • Increased employee efficiency - testing happens very quickly now, sometimes in minutes! Before it took weeks or months going through Technology.
  • More testing means increased learnings and revenue.

  • Leadpages is still my go-to solution for marketing clients who have small budgets and little to no experience with automation. It allows me to run campaigns complete with landing pages even if I don't have access to their website. This is especially helpful for local franchises who have very little access to the company website.
  • Leadpages' Leadboxes have been especially helpful when building sites within the Real Estate market. I cal place an eye-catching call-to-action message anywhere I need to, connect it to a form, and track the submissions to measure its effectiveness.
  • When I was first starting out as a digital marketing firm, Leadpages allowed me to offer services that larger firms were offering at a price I could afford. This was pivotal in securing some of my early clients and building my company.
