Paylocity provides 24/7 access to your online payroll and human resource data management. Paylocity offers highly customizable payroll functionality, as well as HR, benefits administration, and time and talent management programs.
Very convenient software. No VPN is needed, and you can log in by phone, via the app, or from desktop computers. I love the feature to downloads XLS files so I can manipulate the data for quick analysis and entry into other reports. While the downside, some features are a bit hard to find. Certain configurations are not obvious, but things will go smoothly once set up.
Paylocity is very user-friendly on both the administrative and employee side. Payroll batches are easy to edit, if necessary. The customer service is outstanding; there is always someone knowledgeable available to assist - immediately. (unlike ADP where you could be on hold for hours.) I am happy to hear that as our organization grows, Paylocity can service more than 1,000 employees. As I mentioned previously, the cumbersome tasks are the ability to create custom reports with the data and in the format needed and the accuracy of time off balances.
For some types of projects, we are unable to use BigTime's invoicing feature. It would be nice if we could further customize invoices to fit our needs. We still have to use Quickbooks to complete certain invoices.
Being able to create Purchase Orders in BigTime would be extremely useful to us. We currently use Quickbooks for this.
Our payroll consists of many batches. There is a lot of moving back and forth once you enter too many batches as there is not enough room to view everything on the screen. It would be extremely helpful if the batch "bar" were wrapped to a second line so all can be viewed on the screen.
Third-party sick pay must be entered by January 3rd or thereabout. This does not allow enough time for the last statement of the year to be received from the taxing authorities and entered into the system. Amended returns and W2s are then required and incur a charge.
We gave an 8 rating because I believe there are simple improvements Paylocity could make that would make a world of difference in an admins every day work world. We will probably renew because we are already familiar with Paylocity and how it works. It would a huge change to bring in a different HR & Payroll system at this point
Staff adapted to the new timesheets immediately. The invoice platform is nice and tracking WIP is great! Color backgrounds still need work. The new vibrant mode is OK. still trying it out.
Paylocity is intuitive for the most part. There are a few areas that I click on more than once and it isn't the place I need to be, but I can usually find what I need quickly. The search feature is excellent. And, step by step instructions and videos make learning a breeze!
The support is amazing! They are always available through the chat interface in the program. Each support person has fully answered my questions the first time. I have had a positive experience with each inquiry. It is very important to me that I am able to get instant access to help so that I can make the most of the software and all of its capabilities.
The frustrations I have with Paylocity customer support are what drove me to leave a review in the first place so I can warn anyone considering purchasing this product. I really like the software and it has a lot of great features, but my complete distrust of their customer service has led me to rue the day I chose Paylocity to be our payroll vendor. For one thing, they are often slow to respond. That alone might be manageable, except even when I do get a response, half the time the answers are incomplete/not helpful, if not completely incorrect! Imagine waiting 90 days and paying thousands of dollars for a corrected W2 only for it to come back more incorrect than it was when you started, and not only that but they also made me question my sanity trying to convince me that they were correct when it was BLATANTLY wrong - and that's just one example! Sometimes you might be lucky to get a decent customer service rep using the chat help feature, but most of the time whoever you talk to does not seem to have any more knowledge of the system than you do. I am a patient person and I have a lot of grace for administrative errors (we're all human) but Paylocity customer service is consistently unreliable and sometimes unprofessional to boot. To their credit, the sales and implementation teams do seem really good. It seems like maybe they just can't retain good customer service reps. We've been through several account managers without ever having a good experience.
I would make sure you have a dedicated team at Paylocity to complete the implementation. We had staff from Paylocity quit and things were not completed properly. They dropped the ball so to speak on that portion of it. we have encountered multiple issues since then and are still not using the Time off tracking to its full capabilities.
I liked the client management, but it didn't do time tracking, billing or syncing with quickbooks. It was too robust for my needs. I tried it for the client management and thought I might use it along with bigtime, but it was too cumbersome and would involve too much double entry. And it didn't track time or bill which are necessary functions
Ceridian Dayforce is impossibly difficult, and overkill for any employer of less than 500. Support is not always in the US. Assistance with troubleshooting is 3-48 hours, which is useless when you have a payroll deadline. Training and education of the product is months of reading and charts, and implementation specialists are all over the world, which is fraught with time availability and language barriers. Quickbooks is great for employers of 20 or less. It's simple, and simple (yes, redundantly simple) Not a robust enough system for larger employers, reporting is limited.
Before BigTime, we were using Excel to track everything, creating invoices, and run reports. Getting on BigTime has saved us tons of time and effort which equates to dollars saved on labor.
From a legal standpoint, BigTime has allowed us to be organized and prepared in the event we would need to present financial details to anyone.
Reduced errors on payroll and the ability to fix any errors with voiding/reissuing checks. I've been able to easily get money back on voided checks when employees enter the wrong banking information.
We can assess our budget a lot more accurately for each account based on our cost center locations.
We can communicate a lot easier with our employees through Paylocity.
