Our team uses Hatchbuck in a variety of ways to support our sales, marketing, and customer service team members. We use their forms, automated campaigns, and tasks to follow up and nurture sales leads. Additionally, we use the automated campaigns, email templates, and their drag and drop email builder as tools to onboard new customers and follow up with existing customers. We also use Hatchbuck as a CRM to track and record details on our users and send targeted emails and campaigns to them. As a small business with limited staff and resources, Hatchbuck helps us ensure each of our customers gets the attention they need.
  • We love that actions the customer takes, like opening an email, clicking a link, etc. adds up to a 'score' for them. This helps us gauge the level of interest from a customer in one glance.
  • Their drag and drop email composer is easy to use and flexible enough to customize as we wish to align with our branding.
  • Automated campaigns are easy to setup and we love that we can add notifications to alert us when a customer takes a certain action (fills out a form, clicks a link, etc.)
  • We also heavily use their API to sync data and start campaigns, it's been a great way to automate as much as we can.
  • They've recently updated their reporting metrics, so we'd love to see that trend continue and have the ability to create really customized reports.
  • Similarly, they also recently updated their email composers and template library, but the more design options the better!
Hatchbuck is great for small to mid size businesses that are really looking to keep track of their progress with their sales leads as well as their existing customers, as well as tracking the activity their customers are taking from their communications, and automate their sales and marketing funnel as much as possible. We are a SaaS company (software as a service), with sales that range from teeny tiny to very big fish so it's been an easy tool to work with to make sure we are communicating with clients based on their size and needs.
  • We've had an influx of new 'free trials' and leads in the past 3 years and Hatchbuck has made it easy to ensure we give each of these clients the proper attention and training they need to become paying clients.
  • Through the API and activity tracking, we've been able to identify which step of the sales funnel a client is in and automate the follow up as much as possible which frees our limited team up to focus on other tasks.

We really liked the unique mix of a CRM, an email marketing tool, and a sales funnel tool we found with Hatchbuck. Additionally, the software was easy enough to learn so that multiple team members were able to quickly get up and running using the system. Other tools we evaluated either had too heavy of a sales focus, were too clunky, or were lacking some flexibility within their automation or email options that were important to us.

Hatchbuck is being used throughout my organization across product lines as our primary CRM and marketing automation tool. As a small business, the needs for automation are great. It permits nurturing of leads and managing customers at various points in the funnel without a full-time staff operating around the clock.
  • Emails - Hatchbuck has recently enhanced their email template collection. That said, most of ours use plain text. It's easy to design your own, though.
  • Support - whenever I have had an issue or question, the responsiveness has been exceptional.
  • OnBoarding - I had a 1:1 consultant to meet with me over my first several months who was delightful and capable, helping me learn the system.
  • Campaign design could be strengthened with the use of visual mapping as many other marketing automation offers.
  • They've only just introduced a mobile solution, and it is not very practicable for managing; rather it seems designed for sales reps on the move.
  • The reliance on tags can become quite "clunky" over time. Their CRM is wonderfully integrated but not as strong as standalone products.
This is a good entry into marketing automation for those who don't want to be overwhelmed at the start, nor sunk by high prices. It was a combination of the price, onboarding, and basic capabilities that led to our selection. I expect we'll "grow out of it" in another year or so.

MUCH more appropriate for B2B. Most of my challenges are because my business is B2C. There is a new emphasis on "companies" in the CRM piece that actually becomes a nuisance when your only customers are individuals.
  • The ROI has been slower than expected due to having to learn about marketing automation from the ground up.
  • There was a much longer starting ramp than I was led to believe, as it wasn't until year 2 that some of the features became clear.

I use HubSpot Sales concurrently with Hatchbuck as it offers capabilities not included with Hatchbuck: email tracking not from the system, integration with Facebook advertising, website popups.

Hatchbuck was selected as an entry-level tool focusing on automation and CRM. Though it is not as robust as the full HubSpot system, it is substantially less expensive for a startup.

Hatchbuck has been a godsend. We switched from HubSpot.

While Hatchbuck does not have all the bells and whistles of other marketing automation softwares, it serves as a CRM and Marketing Automation tool that allows our small business clients to do inbound marketing at an affordable rate, while not compromising quality of delivery.

We mainly implement Hatchbuck for:

  • Segmentation of lists
  • Contact scoring
  • Email marketing
  • A sales pipeline management
  • Real people on the support team.
  • Unparallelled support and communication with agency partners.
  • Email marketing and lead scoring.
  • Integration with many other applications via Zapier.
  • Marketing analytics reports beyond email could be improved. (i.e. Competitor website ranking, seo recommendations, etc.)
  • A real WordPress plugin would be awesome
  • Built-in Landing pages. Currently you have option to integrate with several providers.
  • Not ideal for enterprises requiring ERP- level software.
  • Not a great e-commerce solution.

Perfect for service based business [insurance, realtors, plumbers, etc.], small companies where lead generation is essential [ manufacturers, distributors, Chamber of Commerce, etc.]

Non-profit organizations are a great fit due to the cost of entry and list segmentation features within Hatchbuck.
  • Improve quality of leads going to leads.
  • Improve ability to nurture relationship in a timely manner.
  • Increase perceived value from customers.

  • HubSpot,infusionsoft,MailChimp,AWeber
Hatchbuck is in a class by itself.

Hubspot and Infusionsoft are awesome, but, there is too much to understand and layers of tools which sometimes end up taking up more time than the typical small business owner has to invest.

On the other hand, AWeber and MailChimp offer great email marketing, but, that is all. In order to really grow, small businesses need more.

Hatchbuck sits right smack dab in the middle. It offers the basics of marketing automation, CRM, and integration flexibility to make it the small business sales and marketing tool of choice. All for $99 per month.
3
  • Marketing - responsible for top of the funnel lead capture, MQL assessments and nurturing.
  • Sales - responsible for middle of the funnel opportunity nurturing to close, SQL assessments, and pipeline reports.
  • Operations - responsible for fulfillment, and alignment between sales and marketing.

Hatchbuck is a major resource for allowing these relationships to work together smoothly.
3
We have three in-house staff members, but, we also lean on the 40+ amazing staff members at Hatchbuck.

Most businesses can manage Hatchbuck themselves with as little as 1 employee, and a little side support from a Hatchbuck Partner Agency.

Hatchbuck, also offers a marketplace where their certified partners offer a la cart services to small businesses.
  • Website webforms
  • Automated campaigns
  • Task management
  • Contact score alerts
  • Tag rules
  • Tag rules allow for deep segmentation.
  • If they ever add landing pages (LPs) with the ability to easily connect to a [sub]domain name, we would be able to save time by using the designs with the email templates to create our LPs, and then use the links on PPC and Social Media.
In case you can't tell, we are in love with Hatchbuck software. Could it be improved? Of course it could, but, based on our current needs, and the needs of our existing and targeted clients so far, Hatchbuck presents the best fit option available.

As a partner we are looking to grow with Hacthbuck into the future.
Yes
HubSpot. Great company. Great software. Great business model. But, too expensive for our company needs. I felt like just another partner to them. Our agency is too small, and too simple for them. Our clients do not have $2500 monthly retainer budget for us - plus $600 per month for software.

The product features had to include marketing automation and CRM.

We were looking at switching from HubSpot to either Infusionoft or Hatchbuck.

The partner fee at Infusionsoft $2000 each year. At Hatchbuck $500 in time.
While we do miss some of the recommendation reports and built-in features from what we can tell it was a very wise decision.

I always get a response within 24 hours, unless I ask on a weekend. The team seems to work together to resolve my issues, answer my questions, and update me on changes. In fact, they have even connected [with] me to ask how they can improve the Hatchbuck software and their service. This is why I love them so much.
No
Yes, Nicci Anderson called me just to introduce herself and ask if I had any specific questions related to Hatchbuck. She then took the time to guide me through a few areas I needed support in. She followed up on the conversation with a real email with links to resources and materials to help me with any remaining questions I might have.
  • Designing email templates
  • Adding / importing contacts
  • Adding webforms to website
  • Having to add a tracking code to each page, versus having one code for an entire Wordpress site.
  • Connecting to a landing page.
Yes
Compared to others - very good. However, could be improved.
Hatchbuck offers on-boarding, training, and has a suite of videos, which makes it super easy to get started. As with any software that is the key. Have a plan, stay focused, and get started. Once, you begin to play with Hatchbuck you will see that it is very user friendly.

I am currently using Hatchbuck mainly as a way to track my sales pipeline and track contact information for current and potential customers. Since I spend much of my time outside of my office it is important that I have a database that is easily accessed on the web.
  • The ease of use of this product was a key factor in choosing Hatchbuck.
  • The low entry cost and the fact that no long term contracts are required also played a critical role in choosing Hatchbuck.
  • The low cost also helped in my decision as I begin to use more of its features. I didn't want to pay a high price for a software program that had features I would never use or at least would not use until a much later date, in essence, wasting money up front. I have full intentions to fully utilize other great features, however, the low cost of Hatchbuck makes it a good value even if I were to only use it as nothing more than a prospect/customer database.
  • When creating a new note, I would like to see the 'Update Last Contacted date when saved' check box at the top and not the bottom of the page.
I feel that the person I met with asked all the right questions and also provided many good ideas for getting the most out of Hatchbuck. He did a great job of really digging into what I was needing and wanting and letting me know how to get those items accomplished.
  • The most critical part for me has been better organization of my sales pipeline and prospects.
  • Being able to keep notes in one easy to access section has made it much easier to recall conversations and emails with customers. Also, being able to add attachments is a great feature as we often send quotes or other attachments. Referring back to them is easy when I have the attachment and the notes in one place.

We send out 2-3 newsletters each month, and also recently started sending out invitations for webinars through Hatchbuck as well. Currently the only department using it is our Marketing team, but they are sending out information from departments across the company. It helps us manage our marketing lists by automatically unsubscribing any bounced emails, as well as tracks the recipients actions so we can better understand what they are interested in and then target more specific messages to key audiences.
  • Their customer service is above and beyond. I started using Hatchbuck when I started working here, and had no previous experience with the platform or program. The customer service team is phenomenal in replying to emails quickly, and offering to do a live web support session to go over any issues or to demonstrate additional features.
  • The Tags and Tag Rules system on Hatchbuck are extremely easy to set up, use and track. It has really helped us literally see what our contacts are most interested in.
  • Easy to read, understand and interpret data generated and presented by the software. It's very easy to see specific KPI we are interested in knowing.
  • One challenge I have is when scheduling and email to go out. With 12 different groups to send it to, I wish there was a quick and easy way to select my email template, and then select my 12 groups and just stagger when the emails are sent. Instead, I have to go through the entire process of scheduling the email to go out 12 separate times. It only takes 10-15 minutes to schedule the emails, but it would be great if it took 30 seconds.
  • Some of the features could be more intuitive. For example, I was trying to duplicate an email template and I couldn't find a way to do that. There are 3 screens - the list of templates, the edit more, and the save page. I looked all over the list page, thinking if I selected one, I should have the ability to duplicate it from there. Then I made changes, thinking the system should offer me to "Save As". I finally found a duplicate option, in the 2nd position, which just didn't seem like the "right" place for it.
  • Again - this might be something that can be done and I just haven't discovered how yet - but it would be nice to be able to export data from the email statistics to look at more in depth.
Many of the features on Hatchbuck are really very intuitive, easy to learn and great to work with. If a company is looking to have a new user own the task of managing contacts with Hatchbuck, I would say this is a great program for them. There is no experience needed to be able to learn how to utilize the system, and as I mentioned, the customer service team is fantastic in assisting with advising key features, how to use some great tools built into the program, etc.
  • Hatchbuck has certainly allowed us to provide better customer service. Now that we have begun hosting customer oriented webinars each month, by using the tags so people essentially self-identify what they are interested in, we can now send invitations out to a more targeted group, based on their tags. For these specialized emails we send out, that are going to people only interested in specific products, we see an open rate double that of our standard monthly newsletters. It's great to see the response when we focus on reaching the correct segment.
  • Another aspect we are just not beginning to explore is to use this as our main channel for communications with our Sales Reps and Distributors. Being able to easily see who is opening our communications, who is unsubscribing, will give us another factor to consider when looking at monthly sales goals - it will help us see if higher engagement leads to higher sales, etc. We see this as a great opportunity to explore.
The company was using a different program before I joined the company, and from what I gathered, it was not as easy to use, it was hard to export all contacts if/when we needed. I was not part of the decision to evaluate other vendors, or to select Hatchbuck, so unfortunately I don't have a lot to input on this matter.
Hatchbuck is a reliable company to do business with. When they make changes and improvements to the program, they notify us by email to advise of the update so we are aware of any changes. Changes made also do not drastically alter the performance, look or feel of the site itself, just allow it to run better and do more. I've never logged in and thought - what happened to what was here?? Improvements are also to make a better experience for the user, without charging us more for the additional or new features/aspects. They are not out to nickel and dime us. It's a great company to do business with and short of some drastic change in our company's objectives or Hatchbuck's, I see no reason why we would stop using them.
