join.me is used internally and externally for our communications and coordination between teams and clients. It leverages the hardware already placed at the desktop, on most laptops, and in most our conference rooms. Simple deployment, ad-hoc sessions, and scheduling capabilities make it an ideal medium. Its customization features for our company branding provide a unique user experience setting it apart from other similar technologies.
  • Customizable user interface, provides a great opportunity for branding and enhances the user experience.
  • Personalized meeting space name for each user. Makes it simple to share and use with clients and multiple users.
  • Excellent integration with Outlook and Okta.
  • Excellent quality of audio and video for both LAN and WAN.
  • Additional music-on-hold selections.
  • Automatic authentication with Outlook (as opposed to having to authenticate every time outlook starts).
  • Active video scaling or multi-window support on 4K monitors would be a welcome feature.
Excellent for one-to-one or small group meetings that use USB cameras and microphones. Works well also for one-to-many type of meetings.
In applications where many-to-one or many-to-many scenarios are needed, external microphones and PTZ camera integrations are needed to produce good results.USB gateways work particularly well for these kind of integrations.

  • Teams collaborate efficiently, particularly when traveling or telecommuting.
  • Recording capabilities are an excellent feature for training activities that can be viewed afterwards.
  • Clients appreciate the permanent link and recognizable name for repeat meetings, easy to remember.
Similar offerings. Join.me was selected due to easy, consistent management. Quickly embraced by our teams, uses the hardware already in place. Each user gets his / her private meeting space or can generate a one time code for ad-hoc meetings. In general, join.me provided agility and ease of communications for our mobility requirements.
Yes
Join.me replaced High-five based on our needs and the hardware requirements of our meeting spaces. Join.me does not require special hardware to function and can be enhanced with USB-based cameras, microphones, and other devices. High-five required proprietary hardware in the conference rooms, that although good looking and functional, required specific mounts, connections, and support.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
An easy to use multi-platform for internal use as well as with our clients. Join.me supports all the platforms in our environment including mobile devices and tablets. The auto dial linking in mobile devices is a welcome feature for traveling personnel, including telecommuters and satellite office teams. The user interface is consistent across the board.
The most efficient (and effective) way was testing a couple of comparable solutions for a period of time in our facility. I would limit the testing to a selected team of various backgrounds for a limited time. Allocating time a day, specific to testing, really speeds the data gathering and objectivity of the selection.

Join.me is a well-known collaboration tool that has been around for quite some time. My IT department prefers to use this meeting option because it’s so simple to send your web meeting link to invite others to a call to share screens and provide information. It’s a great tool if you just need to share your screen quickly with someone else.
  • Ability to provide an easy to use web meeting link.
  • Ability to provide accommodating features and easy to pass presenters roles.
  • Provides easy access for new users.
  • Ability to share desktops of certain programs.
  • I remember first time presenters would always have to download some install for join.me which Inst berry attractive.
  • Unlimited attendees for all meetings would be great.
  • Could be potentially less convoy.
Our IT department loves to use the product. I think it’s very good for short, quick calls where you need to show another employee or associate how to share info online.

  • I’m not sure that this program offers some of the features that would be important to the business but I would like to see more opportunity within the updates.
  • The positive side is the fact that different parts of the business are able to easily communicate efficiently.
  • This program has a lot of great features you would need share information.
I do like join.me for shorter presentations but I think it could use an upgrade. It’s great that each meeting creates its own link which is easy to send to others.
No
Join.me hasn’t replaced any of our products but we have used GlobalMeet as our preferred web sharing collaboration tool. I like to use Join.me when a user is having trouble with logging into our regular tools. This helps speed up the time it takes to walk through steps or our processes in an efficient manner.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The key factor to use join.me if that you are able to communic efficiently with other attendees.
I think we would look at cost closer. Having multiple collaboration tools can be quite expensive and to narrow down the tools we would only need would be more cost efficient. I think join.me has a lot to offer on a basic level but I prefer GlobalMeet and/or Skype formally known as Lync.

JoinMe is a tool that is used by our IT dept to do various interactions as needed.
  • Reliable. Never had a time that it failed to work.
  • Easy for users on both side. Both the initiator and end user.
  • Easy set up and install.
  • Has some issues with Chrome browser.
  • Can take a fair amount of computing power for some parts of it on an older PC.
It is a good tool to use for online conferencing and screen sharing. Not a high learning curve for end user. Very reliable.

  • Free features are quite nice if you use the free version. That would be an excellent ROI. Free gives you simple screen sharing which is enough for some things.
  • The paid versions are very cost effective, especially for small business users.
Our IT dept supports several products remotely. From what we have seen Join.Me is slightly cheaper that some of the others.

Generally we will use Join.me for ad-hoc screen sharing sessions with customers. My department uses it. It allows us to quickly establish a session with our customers to troubleshoot problems that they may be having with other applications.
  • It is easy to access and use with just a couple of clicks.
  • No large plugin installation needed like some other utilities (such as GoToMeeting). Quick download and launch.
  • Typically, the UI is very responsive with screen sharing.
  • It's random sometimes when it will require you to login. This is troublesome for our remote customers as it's another step they may have to take.
  • CPU utilization can get quite high. This happens both on my MacBook Pro and also on Windows VMs.
  • Recently the application has either hung or not installed/launched properly in Windows.
  • Depending on the technical savvy of the remote user, they sometimes want to go to join.me.com or are simply confused when directed to "Go to join dot me in your web browser."
As previously mentioned, whenever you need to do an ad-hoc screen sharing meeting with someone, join.me serves that purpose quite well. If you are presenting often, you can also just have your own join.me address for others to join. For larger sessions with multiple people, I would think that something like GoToMeeting would be more appropriate.

  • Allows us to save money by being able to use the product without cost (especially so for customers who have to share their screens with us).
  • Faster response time with customers and problem determination.
Overall, it is generally more simple for users to start their own sessions with join.me than the other solutions. This is the primary reason we tend to use join.me over the others. However, we tend to use GoToMeeting when we are doing presentations or conference calls.
6
Systems administrators and developers use join.me for remote sessions with customers. This can be anything from product demos to troubleshooting / support.
We don't need to dedicate anyone to this as the product works well and we can contact join.me if there are issues.
  • End-user support.
  • Ad-hoc screen sharing with customers.
  • Product and project demonstrations.
  • Installation of new products into the customers' environments.
  • While there may be some additional features with join.me, the core screen-sharing capabilities are what drive us to its usage.
  • We currently do not use it for audio or video conferencing, but I could see us using it in that manner in the future.
It's easy to use and we don't every have problems with it (other than high cpu usage).
Yes
Instead of using an on-prem product (such as IBM Sametime) or use some other vendor or cloud-based solution, we have found that join.me does what we need for 95% of our use cases for customer support.
  • Price

Mostly because it's free and simple for our end users / customers to be able to share their screens.
We tend to re-evaluate the application that we request our customers to use for us to provide remote support. We seem to always come back to join.me due to its ease of use.
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
As we are a small organization, there was not any change management involved.
  • Getting the remote support users to understand not to put a ".com" at the end of the "join.me" URL.
This is a fairly simple product which doesn't require much "implementation" work for our use cases.
Thankfully, I have not had to reach out to support. The product just works well when we use it. If there is an issue, it is generally more related to the remote user's computer rather than join.me itself.
No
As mentioned previously, I haven't run into an issue requiring support.
  • Starting a meeting is really simple - launch the application and give the participants the code/url.
  • Quick download / launch generally.
  • Responsive screen-sharing!
  • As mentioned, some end-users have trouble knowing that it's "join dot me" instead wanting to add a .com to it.
  • Sometimes it uses way too much CPU.
Yes, but I don't use it
As mentioned, it's super simple to start using!

Our product department uses join.me to deliver small group or 1:1 training where we primarily leverage screen sharing for demonstration purposes. We also help support the delivery of online education and when our instructors are having trouble, we usually go straight to join.me to help illustrate a solution and train our faculty. While job aids are available, we find that being able to quickly load a program and show someone a step that they might be missing, we can provide tremendous value and support to our clients.
  • No download/installation of a tool or application to start viewing, just open the browser and send the link.
  • Very fast to start a session, no need to schedule an event, send out calendar invitations, have the end user downloading an application.
  • Compatibly with browsers has been outstanding, we do not have to implement workarounds for this product.
  • Our most technologically challenged clients have no issues launching a join.me session.
  • When sharing your screen when you have multiple monitors displayed, it can often be difficult.
  • Screen sharing animations can be choppy.
We do not use join.me as a replacement for web conferencing software. Scheduled meetings with a large volume of participants are more easily facilitated for us with other software. However, for 1:1 and small group settings, especially on the fly, join.me is a huge time saver in both process and deployment.

  • Our team members feel more empowered to help our users, having a quick and reliable tool to initiate and for our users to deploy.
  • As a result, our level customer satisfaction has increased as we can provide immediate and helpful illustrations.
  • We have also been able to reduce our investments in other conferencing software, which we were previously using in a cumbersome fashion, that did not meet our goals.
When there is a very specific task in mind, join.me has served our team exceptionally well for several years. It always makes the budget for renewal, and is one of the first tools that our support staff leverages when helping our clients. Other platforms often carry a higher cost, a longer meeting initiation window, require some technical expertise from the end-user to initiate, and can create delays and frustrations executing a simple task of screen sharing. To be able to send a link that someone can open in their browser, you can have a session launched in seconds, with no worry to your end-user's technical proficiency or hardware requirements to participate.
