  • Flexibility to easily move between the various sizes of compute products as required.
  • Simple and clear cost effective pricing, no hidden charges.
  • Rock solid performance.
  • Continuing development in their APIs to improve automation which saves time and improves consistency.
  • Support could be better but have rarely had to use it.

  • Price competitiveness
  • Support is excellent and they know what they're talking about.
  • The level of English spoken by the support staff is superb. When something goes wrong you don't have time to work out endless miscommunications.
  • CPU allowance is surprisingly powerful compared to AWS servers at the same price point.
  • Disk speed is better than their competitors.
  • Managed databases are missing. Sure, they don't provide anything we can't do, but they do move the point of blame when anything goes wrong from us to the provider.
  • Disk IO isn't as fast as certain specialist cloud providers, and we've moved high IO workload to these.

  • We've used Linode to host some aspects of our Splunk enviroment because the cost vs. performance curve is second to none.
  • We use a smaller Linode server to host and redirect domains because the performance is great for the price.
  • We've used short term linodes to test software and various configurations.
  • I'd like to see some of the more advanced AWS features, like Lamba functions
  • I'd like to see a managed database offering
  • A virtual private cloud offering would be great
  • Enterprise features and management would be nice

  • Automatic data backup.
  • DDoS protection: We stay protected from Distributed Denial of Service attacks.
  • NodeBalancers for balancing the traffic.
  • It is cheaper and better than other hosting servers like AWS.
  • NodeBalancers are surprisingly expensive compared to VMs.
  • Lots of un-useful emails from Linode.

  • I love Linode because is simple to use and navigate.
  • You can create a node in a few seconds.
  • Linode has documentation about how you can protect Linux instance, deploy clusters, databases.
  • Direct VPN like GlobalProtect or FortiClient.
  • I wanna use Mongo Atlas and it just has nodes with Azure, Amazon and Google. It would be a great improvement if Linode add this.

  • Transparency of their uptime and high availability of their cloud server.
  • Easy to use API to deploy solutions and services.
  • Clean and simple Cloud Manager UI interface to navigate.

  • No update to the Community stackscripts which has been outdated.

  • Offers GNU/Linux distributions for servers.
  • Offers loading your own .ISO for servers (such as *BSD Unix).
  • High-technology (powerful system resources and network services/bandwidth).
  • Helpful/friendly customer support.
  • Should consider allowing/supporting *BSD & OpenSolaris/IllumOS Unixes in their choices of .ISOs.
  • Should be a little more speedy updating non-systemd (real server) GNU/Linux .ISOs
  • For the number of servers they administer, might consider enlarging their team, but their current customer support team is more than adequate.

  • Fantastic Console Access -- everything is clear and well laid out.
  • Support -- their support has been absolutely stellar, both in quality and responsiveness.
  • Surprise Upgrades -- their rewarding of customers by boosting space or CPU power while keeping the cost steady has been phenomenal.
  • My greatest fear is that Linode will expand to a broader reach of services diluting what they are enormously talented at; they currently provide a very nice cost/service ratio that is virtually unbeatable. I don't need or want every cloud bell and whistle, what I want is to be able to stand up and have raw console access to a Linux system I can completely customize.
  • I wish Linode offered cheap, large storage options -- I don't need speed, I need space, lots of it. I could totally tolerate spinning rust as an option if it dropped more storage on me. I have several external multi-terrabyte drives picked up at Costco connected locally and bridge these, since I can't afford to do it in the cloud due to recurring costs.

  • We really like the ease of use of the Linode cloud management environment.
  • The Linode network team is very proactive, and communicates all network statuses in a timely and open manner.
  • The DNS manager for Linode makes it easy to manage not only address records, but all of the text records needed for things like DMARC.
  • The only complaint that we have with Linode is the pricing model. Pricing is done in tiers, and you cannot easily upgrade just RAM or storage by itself.

  • Control, from SSH to their own browser based console.
  • DNS services that work well as secondary, supporting ip4 and ip6.
  • Ease of selecting packages to suit the user's needs.
  • Some 'in between' options would always be useful, though not critical as the options are pretty good already.
