Announcing the Top Rated Infrastructure-as-a-Service Solutions for 2019

August 28th, 2019 4 min read

We are excited to announce the Top Rated Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Solutions for 2019! Top Rated awards showcase today’s top-of-the-line products in IaaS Solutions based solely on positive user feedback and satisfaction scores. These awards make the voice of the market the primary decider into the industry’s best products.

Top Rated awards are the most trusted in the industry because they are never influenced by analyst opinion, the vendor’s size, popularity, or status as a TrustRadius customer.

Here are the winners:

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) TRScore | trustradius.com

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. Users can launch instances with a variety of OSs, load them with custom application environments, manage network access permissions, and run images on multiple systems. These capabilities make web-scale computing easier for developers and deployment is relatively easy. Reviewers love the ease of use and provisioning and the auto-scaling capability. The product is used by companies of all sizes, but 43% of reviewers on TrustRadius are from small businesses.

“EC2 makes right-sizing your servers a breeze. You can quickly spin up a server in the cloud and if it turns out the vCPU, RAM, or storage space is wrong, within minutes you can change all of that.”

Michael Kerzner | Systems Engineer | Higher Education

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) TRScore | trustradius.com

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud computing platform offering IaaS and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) services. AWS offers many individual services beyond IaaS, but its core IaaS offerings include virtual servers, cloud storage, elastic load balancing, and private servers. The platform supports a broad range of use cases, including machine learning, software deployment, and internet of things (IoT). Many of its services are tailored to specific needs, such as media delivery or data security. Close to one-third (30%) of AWS users on TrustRadius are from small businesses. Reviewers appreciate AWS for its extensive customization, solid reliability, and scalability.

“…AWS services allow us to provide on-demand, infinitely expandable cloud services as needed…For IT departments, having basically the entirety of Amazon’s network infrastructure at your fingertips is invaluable.”

Congratulations to the winners of the Top Rated IaaS Solutions Award!

What are IaaS Solutions?

IaaS is designed for IT professionals. These services provide the most fundamental layer of cloud services including compute, storage, and networking services. IaaS scales infrastructure components up and down with demand and avoids the complexity and expense of having to manage physical servers and other datacenter infrastructure. IaaS platforms allow users to install and configure operating systems, middleware and applications.

A virtualization management layer helps administrators automate, monitor, and deploy the virtual hardware. Automatic load-balancing systems help distribute resources evenly within the virtual environment. Some  providers also offer PaaS features, but these offerings may not have the same depth of functionality as standalone PaaS platforms

Buyers considering an IaaS solution should consider their IT resources and customization needs. IaaS offers more direct control over virtual resources. It also allows customers to choose their own security and database systems. However, this level of control requires IT employees and expertise. Businesses more focused on rapid application development than on IT infrastructure services may benefit more from a PaaS solution, at least initially.
