Adobe Target

1. We changed ship dates on individual product pages depending on customer location so they would have an accurate timeline for their orders. This really helped lower our volume of customer service calls on tracking orders.2. We have stores as well as an online presence. With Target we were able to advertise sales on b-stock items from our warehouse to our local customers without letting those that live outside a certain radius see the promo.3. If your marketing team doesn't have a tech background this software has a steep learning curve. There is quite a bit of manual configuration required. The image carousel is one example that we struggled with.

Qubit

Qubit is well suited to a medium size organisation with enough resources to fire tests frequently and act on findings as they become available. An important detail to remember is that final implementation is often quite different to testing, so the ability to then transfer winning variations to your live projects is crucial

Pros

Adobe Target

  • Because the software is established there is lots of online help available and most of the bugs have been worked out
  • Adobe has a vast supply of resources if your pockets are deep enough.
  • The dashboard is easy to follow and is getting more user-friendly. You no longer have to be an HTML wizard to implement changes.

Qubit

  • Qubit provides a platform to quickly implement ideas for functionality and gives summarised results to validate (or invalidate) UX theories.
  • Qubit allows relatively easy segmentation of our audience so that we are able to conditionally affect our site for visitors.
  • Qubit offers a mix of simple and advanced tests that can range between very broad segments of our audience and extremely specific ones if necessary. We often use simple experiences to serve time-limited features onsite.

Cons

Adobe Target

  • Be careful to not rack up too many server calls - this can be a costly endeavor. If you're in a large corporation which can afford mass quantities of server calls per year, then you won't have to be as concerned. If you are a small company, you must be more prudent and use T&T for specific campaigns which have a life span, can warrant specific results, and do not linger on. De-activating mboxes within T&T is a great way to disable mboxes without bugging IT or your web developers about removing/adding mboxes every time you want to run a campaign.
  • T&T is client-side user experience testing, meaning what the customer sees is based on their specific visit in a specific web browser - and the experience is controlled by T&T during the lifespan of the cookie. This is not a fault of T&T, but it is necessary to understand. As you build and QA campaigns, you still have to check the experience in ALL browsers and you have to be aware that a user visiting your site on more than one computer may see different experiences based on how they were routed in the test campaign.

Qubit

  • I feel that we could be making better use of the Decipher platform (this is where you can ask for custom reports to be created by the Qubit team on key areas you want constant data on). We cannot create any of these ourselves, which means we are dependent on the Qubit team - and often, you don't really know how you want data to be visualised until you play around with it. This creates a lengthy process. These reports are also not automatically updated, and so depend on the Qubit team updating daily/weekly. I know that lots is being done in this space, and so am interested to see what happens to this module - and how Qubit extract greater value from it (as I do think there is a lot of value still to be pulled).
  • My team use the Qubit platform more than I do, however when I was using it (and I believe this module may have since been replaced), I didn't feel that the 'Discover' module was a huge amount of use vs. what I could pull from GA. The timelines were pre-defined (last 90 days rolling), and I didn't find the UI as user friendly as other analytics platforms. It wasn't a fundamental issue as I wasn't really using Qubit as a web analytics tool at the time. As I said, I think that Qubit have addressed this and have replaced it with an even better tool.

The software is so expensive that we can only use it in limited capacity. It does not simplify any work for our development team in our testing process. We also found that testing results from it weren't always accurate.

Qubit is currently providing resources and support we do not have internally. Our relationship managers are exceptional and I feel well informed and well supported by their team. The tool is nice, but our contacts from the company are the real reason to maintain our relationship. They work hard for clarity and continue to help us push for additional opportunities.

Very simple user interface, built on top of advanced functionality, makes the platform easy to use. The team at Qubit are also very open to feedback and introduce new and useful features fairly often. On the reporting side, the inbuilt dashboard reports are good for a top-level view of test results, and Qubit have made a lot of their output data available should you wish to run your own analysis

I would say that the Qubit account managers are always available for any request. We have a lot of different promotions that could always do with last minute optimizing or changes and Qubit can be relied on to get this changes up and running in an impressive amount of time, so that we don't need to patch live or wait for the next IT sprint. Invaluable to our business.

In-Person Training

The instructor that came to train us was awesome and this training was very useful. I would recommend it for anyone who is going to be using this software. I only mark it lower because it is an added expense to an already expensive product, and a lot of the training covered the "Target" portion of the software (which again, we didn't use)

The training was very easy to understand, however it would have been more useful to my development team than me. It was also primarily over-the-phone, which is never as easy to follow as in-person. We ended up scheduling and paying for an in-person training session to supplement the online/phone training because it wasn't helpful enough.

Qubit was the first CRO tool we have used, and have stuck with it, even though we've tested other platforms on our other websites. I think it's a testament to Qubit and their staff that they are still implemented on our largest website.

Our requirements change throughout the year like most E Commerce retailers. At Christmas and Peak we're dealing with around ten times the usual traffic on the site. Qubit had no problems with this at all, tests continued to fire, and stats were still reported accurately. I don't think that it is the most server intensive .js anyway, but we have seen no issues at all.

Return on Investment

Adobe Target

  • Test & Target had a positive impact on ROI for the paid search campaigns we did A/B testing for.
  • It allowed us to learn fast and make changes on the site that would make a positive impact on conversion rates.

Qubit

  • Incremental Conversion Rate lifts site wide
  • UX Code Development and QA Projects
  • Additional Customer Feedback Loops and Abandonment Surveys
