Mailchimp is well suited to a situation where you have a stable or known set of recipients to whom you will be sending email updates on a regular basis. Mailchimp is well suited to situations where a lot of information needs to be sent to a lot of different people and organizations at specified times in the future.Mailchimp is not appropriate for one-to-one communication - the higher the scale of interactions from 1 to many the better the software performs.

I found Pardot really powerful and versatile. We didn't use the Drip Automation feature as much as I would have liked, but that's just because we didn't have many use cases to justify it. We were able to build out a complex custom CSS for our email templates and appreciated the rendering capabilities that allowed us to preview how our CSS would display across all the most popular browsers and mobile platforms.

  • Audience tags--this has been such a great add-on in the toolkit.
  • Drag-and-drop email design--not every marketing mail system uses this kind of design editing tool; it's a timesaver, there are a lot of options. Adding graphics with captions and boxed text relieves me of a lot of formatting issues.

  • Pardot syncs with our database, Salesforce and works seamlessly in updating records with individuals. Having this sync allows everyone in the organization to know where the last communication was and where they stand.
  • Pardot's A/B testing is the easiest A/B testing to use and communicate differently with individuals based on reporting. You are able to test this A/B before sending out an email unlike other platforms. The A/B testing is time saving and effective when trying to communicate with our audience.
  • Pardot's engagement studio is very easy to not only set-up but to follow. They set up their engagement platform in a way that you can see it overall and follow it like a flow chart, allowing the creator to truly understand where the emails/individuals are doing. The reporting of the engagement studios is detailed and very accessible.

  • I wish that the uploaded files were easier to manage in that I would like to delete older versions of uploaded files that I no longer need. However, they are "layered" in the Content Manager section and I am not able to un-layer them to delete versions I do not need.
  • It can get expensive quickly, particularly if you have over 2,000 subscribers which we do (close to 5,000 subscribers).
  • Sometimes the formatting of an email newsletter-type communication can be tricky for a novice on Mailchimp, but after doing it once or twice, you get the hang of it and it becomes much easier.

  • We found it didn't integrate as well with Salesforce as we wanted it to and was not great.
  • Building your email templates was not user-friendly or easy to customize. Content builder in Marketing Cloud is much better and user-friendly.
  • Great for top of the funnel and to only do lead nurturing- I wouldn't recommend it for marketing/communications to existing customers.

As of right now we have not seen any other program that integrates as seamlessly into our Salesforce platform. We have barely scratched the surface of all the features and use cases. It would be irresponsible to make a move to another platform in the near future. We have not come up against any limitations that would prompt a need to switch

I give it a seven because the average user can jump right in and customize an existing template with their own images and logo and have a great looking email. The other two options that I reviewed didn’t really have that as much, and their templates were not anywhere as professional looking as these. But for more advanced users, it should be easier to customize your own. They really seem to want to drive people toward their pre-designed templates.

The system has so many features that it does take a while to get spun up on what they all do and how they interact with each other. Once you dedicate the time to training to reach that crucial level of understanding however, it is easy to creatively apply the varied functionality of the program to address issues that would have previously seemed to mandate the use of another system.

I have, in the 4+ years that I've used Mailchimp, never seen an issue that restricted the use of their software/tools. I don't know of a single time when they're system crashed or went down. I could be wrong, but I honestly haven't experienced any issues with outages, errors or unplanned downtime

There have been a couple of service incidents over the past few months. I'm not sure if it has to do with Pardot integrating their infrastructure with ExactTarget. However, they responded well with proactive communication and a debrief as to what happened.

I haven't noticed any slow speeds from Mailchimp or their tools. I think the landing pages load quickly and look nice. The email reports and editing operates smoothly and doesn't take time to load. Additionally, when I use Mailchimp in conjunction with Zapier + Hubspot I don't notice any drag between any of these tools

Though the make up of MA apps is not built this way today, it would be nice to see them become more real-time. The integration between Salesforce and Pardot is not a true real-time integration. If I modify something in Salesforce, those changes are not automatically reflected in Pardot immediately. There is a delay of about 15 minutes before the systems sync. This delay, although not long, is less than ideal We would love the systems to be integrated real time such that changes are propagated from one system to the other immediately.

Any time any of our employees has experienced any difficulties or even just had a simple question, the support team is always super responsive. They go above and beyond to make sure that all questions are answered, a resolution was provided for any problem, and that we understand the full capabilities of their platform.

Pardot support is tremendous. The knowledge base and in-application targeted help articles and videos are thorough and straightforward. If those don't do it, Pardot has office hours every business day with members of the team available to answer anything. I've called twice and they are incredibly helpful.

The trainers at the Pardot user conference (Elevate and Connections) were very knowledgeable and presented the material well. Again, the content was targeted to more of a new user audience, and was not really relevant for folks who had been using the product for 2+ years.

Pardot's online training touches on all topics briefly and vaguely without much indepth exploration into how a final outcome could look, such as Nurturing Campaigns, Email templates, landing page templates, etc...The only true way to uncover Pardot's full capabilities is to have Front End design and coding experience. Without this key skill set, I would not recommend Pardot to another business.

It's pretty easy to get up and running! There's a slight learning curve on a few things, but once you find where everything is located, you can import your list and send your first email. It really makes our clients feel great to see how quickly they can get that first email out.

Love the tool, so much easier to see what our visitors are doing, creating campaigns etc. One recommendation about forms in campaigns etc is to make sure the form is not shared between countries. To send out notifications to responsible, you should have one form per country or question.

It may sound inconsequential, but one of the best features of Mailchimp is how the platform anticipates user workflow and includes fun tips & tricks along the way. The user interface is literally "fun" to use, which as I mentioned earlier, takes a lot of the stress and pressure out of working with the platform. Compared to Constant Contact, I find Mailchimp more user-friendly, especially when it comes to list segmentation and integration with our Salesforce CRM.

The decision for our organization to switch to Pardot was a global decision and was not very popular. Countries in our company who were using Marketo were very happy and we seem to have limited ourselves by going with Pardot. Overall, Pardot works fine, but Marketo has much more capability and does everything better than Pardot.

Mailchimp over the years I've used it has grown in leaps and bounds. They have added so many additional features than were previously available. They are truly an all-in-one marketing platform now.If you're a small operation and just want to add email to your marketing efforts, they're there for you. If you're a larger operation and want to start sending postcard advertisements, they can do that. If you'd good with that and want to kick up your marketing by going social, you can do that on their platform. They are truly able to be as small as you need, but also get quite large in whatever it is you'd like to do through their system.

  • The ability to quickly A/B test subject lines and get detailed reports on the campaign have really helped drill down what language to use in campaigns moving forward.

  • Engagement formula has allowed us to see to what extent our audience is engaging with us. What are they doing, how often are they doing it, etc. This helps us paint a picture of our network.
  • The segmentation for emailing has been very helpful for our organization. This allows for more targeted email campaigns to certain groups we know would be interested/benefited rather than loosing folks due to emails that they maybe don't care about (or we've sent too many!)
  • The connection to SalesForce really is a game changer. Now our CRM database and our marketing tool are connected for seamlessly integration.
