Salesforce
Salesforce is great for overall account management, including contact, subscriptions, licenses and forecasting. It isn't necessarily well suited to collaboration as the Chatter functionality could be improved with more features. Alternatively, if you're using Slack, the collaboration improves considerably. The intuitiveness of creating reports also has room for improvement. Finally, the price quote functionality can be challenging to use if the price quote is non-standard.

The UKG Ready platform configured lay out and widgets are easy and fun. The ability to see your 'to do' and staff are great. However, the ability for administrators to manipulate the widgets and platform for personal preference is cumbersome
Adding a manager and grouping is way to complicated and cumbersome., also removing someone from the group is not easy understood

Pros
Salesforce
  • Salesforce.com is extremely customizable. I would not consider it an out-of-the-box solution, although its standard fields allow for fundamental CRM activities and reporting.
  • Salesforce.com is able to integrate with 100s of third-party softwares—often times creating efficiencies in processes.
  • Reports within Salesforce.com have the ability to be simple as a standard Account report, or you can get very granular with your report filtering to segment a very specific result, eg. Accounts in California who are active clients and fall within the pharmaceutical industry and have a specified market capitalization.

  • Time & Attendance - Easy for workforce to use especially with the mobile app.
  • Payroll Processing - Offers step by step navigation to process payroll seamlessly.
  • Reporting Features - Ability to filter data easily and reporting feature is strong.
  • Implementation Teams - They are a true partner in this process and are detailed, professional, organized, and easy to work with.
  • Customer Service - By the click of a button, I can open a case or chat request, and UKG is very prompt in reaching back out to me. If it is regarding payroll processing, the response time is almost immediate.

Cons
Salesforce
  • Would like easier integration of Einstein data in Salesforce Dashboards so we do not have to navigate to the Analytics Studio.
  • Quicker adoption of custom objects into new offerings like the Pipeline Navigator.
  • Continued expansion of Salesforce Surveys for more features and flexibility.

  • A better review of community ideas that have hit high points threshold. When we go out searching for a solution and see an idea that would solve the solution and it has 500-1,000 points from 2 years ago, it's sad.
  • Adjust the last remaining report screens that don't match the updated UI so it's consistent across all.
  • Allow dashboard layouts to be reset without adjusting managers' customizations of their dashboards.

There are days when I wish we hadn't switched, but I know that if we put in the time, we will get to where we want to be with the software and that it has many more capabilities than anything else we looked at. However, the amount of time and onboarding we need to do is also far greater than we realized/were told when we originally bought the product. They told us we should hire onboarding support, but at the end, after we had already reached our budget maximum for this, so it's been slower than we had hoped.

Usability
Salesforce
The biggest strength of salesforce is that the UI is super friendly and easy to use. The fields are clear and relevant, and we can add them to align with [the] business process that we are using it for. Good usability helps in skilling the untrained resources fast and overall onboarding can be quick.

Salesforce is always available securely from any internet-capable device anywhere in the world, UNLESS you choose to set security measures so that ONLY trusted IP ranges may access the system at certain times of the day. It's all about choice and flexibility with Salesforce products.

The system seems very stable. Being hosted in the cloud, we are vulnerable to internet speeds and busy times. The system has been down a couple times over the 3 months we have been live, but Kronos resolved the issues very quickly. To have access from a desktop, tablet, time clock, or phone app is one of the best features....users have almost NO REASON they can't clock in.

Performance
Salesforce
Salesforce performance in general is excellent. "The cloud infrastructure beneath Force.com has been fine-tuned over the past 10 years. It powers nearly 100,000+ businesses running more than 185,000 applications that 3 million users count on every day."
Points per Salesforce -
1) Multitenant kernel - With a multitenant platform, each business that uses the app doesn’t have its own copy. Instead, all businesses share a single copy and then customize it for their specific needs.
2) ISO 27001 certified security - You can’t compromise when it comes to enterprise-level security. Force.com is road-tested and trusted by nearly 100,000+ companies, including many of the world’s most security-conscious organizations, such as banks and health care providers.
3) Proven reliability - All Force.com apps run on world-class data centers with backup, failover, and disaster-recovery facilities. Force.com has had a proven 99.9 percent uptime record for years.
4) Proven, real-time scalability - Force.com is used by many of the world's largest enterprises, including Cisco, Japan Post Network, and Symantec. Applications can automatically scale from a few users to millions of page views, as needed.
5) Real-time query optimizer - You need fast access to your data. The Force.com query optimizer delivers under 300ms response time, at a massive scale.
6) Real-time transparent system status - You can always see real-time system performance, availability, and security information at trust.salesforce.com.
7) Real-time upgrades - Unlike traditional software platforms, our upgrades never break your customizations, code, or integrations. We upgrade the platform for you 3 to 4 times each year. As a result, you’re always on the latest version, with access to the latest features, performance, and security enhancements.
8) Real-time sandbox environments - With a single click, you can create copies of your applications, configuration, and data in separate environments for development, testing, and training.
9) Three global production data centers and disaster recovery - Force.com runs on three geographically dispersed, mirrored data centers with built-in replication, disaster recovery, a redundant network backbone, and no single points of failure

We were always told that Kronos was the best, but there are reports that we got out of ADP and other payroll providers that we cannot get out of Kronos. One example is a report of Productive/Non-productive hours by department. We also need the dollar amount associated with the hours. This is information that is required on our cost report and we were told that that report is unavailable. It is very frustrating when I can't get what I need.

Support Rating
Salesforce
Account managers are awesome for the most part but change every year. So just as they are getting to know your business they usually switch accounts. We have premier success now which gives us 24/7 access to support, which has been helpful as we deal with integration issues with APIs and across Salesforce products.

If I was only rating support itself that would be a 10. Every support case I have entered has been addressed efficiently and with the desired result. On the implementation and transition to support there were multiple issues that those doing the implementation or transition could not answer or workflows and various settings left undone only to be discovered later. We implemented 3 different modules and the expertise we got for each one varied widely.

In-Person Training

I attended two training sessions. I would rate them a 4 as an advanced user. It was very basic – great for someone new – would give 8+ for new person.

I had 3 years of experience at the time. I skipped basic and went onto advanced and still not helpful. A lot of it was best practices that didn’t feel relevant for our business

Lots & lots of training available. Timing was wrong for our organization. We had lengthy down time in the beginning while the implementation consultant setup our system. We did online training then. Difficult to train on a generic system setup that isn't your industry and hard to understand what you are learning how to do w/o actually being in your system. Online training was well documented and the instructors were very knowledgeable.

Just from an organizational standpoint - we standardized our data prior to moving to Salesforce. But we essentially standardized it wrong. That's created a big disgusting mess for us know that I'll have to deal with as the Admin. Be sure you think through use cases prior to doing something like that - seek outside opinions on how the data will work best, especially depending on what else you're going to integrate with Salesforce.

Make sure the people who are doing the build have extensive knowledge on employment law and asking the right questions. I would bet that the people who helped with our builds did not read any of our employment contracts or ordinances; and when I asked questions about how other companies handled certain basic dictates from federal employment laws, they didn't have any idea what FMLA, FLSA, etc were.

I actually did not select Salesforce, I use [Salesforce.com] as a data source when integrating systems together for my clients. Scalability
Salesforce
I've worked with Salesforce since 2001 in companies ranging from 4 to hundreds of sales people and the system has been able to scale and perhaps more importantly expand (functionally) to the needs of larger organizations. In fact in my previous company, as a provider of a solution that integrated with Salesforce, we had customers that had thousands of sales people using Salesforce.

Using Salesforce.com has made my daily routines more efficient and simplified the manual tasks I had to perform independently. • Salesforce has had a huge impact on our company. Making us 50% more profitable since we can easily manage leads better and see where profitable opportunities lie.

  • With our previous third-party payroll provider, payroll processing was a 6-8 hour day. With the UKG Ready/UKG Telestaff combination, the process is completed in under 4 hours on a regular basis.
  • Cloud hosting comes at a cost, but we have found that having the convenience of 24-hour support is a welcome offset to in-house IT, onsite hosting, and hardware management. UKG Ready's cloud hosting services are constantly updating software and feature redundant operations for records management.
  • As an organization whose HR department is completely in-house, the UKG Ready platform saves HR time on a daily basis with multiple aspects of their day-to-day processes. All services from onboarding to offboarding and all components in between are available on UKG Ready.
