We use MATLAB for a variety of different functions at NoMo Diagnostics. We do a ton of data analyzation using the software, where we take huge amounts of data and run them through a script that was developed in MATLAB. We also use the software to output graphs and plots from this data to get a vi...

    MATLAB - my statistical savior!

We often utilize this program to perform many of the statistical analyses that are much more difficult to do in excel or by hand. It is also very useful for us to use for creation of codes which we can share with students to use in labs.

We use IBM SSPS both as a department wide tool and within our smaller lab group. It is primarily used to handle larger statistical analysis problems than can be handled with more simple programs such as Microsoft Excel. The geospatial aspects of it are especially useful and are accessed very regu...

MATLAB has a more simple and user friendly syntax compared to its main competitors, and is perfect for solving small models, but it limits on parallelization and weak handling of nonlinear problems make it an obsolete tool for many serious economic applications.

I have been using MATLAB for almost all of my academic stuff. I use it for solving my homework and completing my research. I have used it to do data processing and filtering. I have used the inbuilt artificial neural network models for my work. I used ANN for rainfall-runoff modeling for my resea...

It is great for a cloud-based dashboarding capability. Even though the modeling and data prep abilities have picked up significantly, it is still not a replacement for a data mart when extensive data ETL takes place.

SPSS Modeler is very well suited for researchers (especially in the social area) or for those who want to find patterns in a big dataset. It has very colorful statistical and analytical features, so SPSS is perfect to analyze data and find patterns in it. Unfortunately, it has very limited and ou...

Alteryx is best suited in the places where you need to present your data in the form of raw data. For example, in scenarios where you want to shape and clean your data and fed the data into other application. Alteryx is less appropriate in the places where the end result should be in a well-finis...

So we use this product department-wide where we have to apply data models, EDAs, etc. Generally, the business problems deal in drawing the statistical inferences out from the data and applying various machine lear...

It is well suited for organizations having day to day advanced statistical procedures requirements. We use ANOVA, multivariate regression using time series modeling and several calibrations in our models for periodic change due to agile macro-sensitive economic forecasts.

C-level boardroom dashboard availability with interactive data refresh is a big use. Not particularly useful for end-user reporting as FIORI apps fill that space very nicely. More standard templates if made available in the respective Values Stream/Process areas would be a big plus. These can the...
