Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

Skype is a great tool for communicating with peers. It's also useful for screen sharing and having meetings through video conferencing. End-to-end testing is possible through Skype, as well. It integrates well with Outlook and setting up meetings is quick and easy. Adding conferencing and group conversations can be considered an added feature that some of its competitors don't offer.

Honestly, I selected Skype because it was free and I have used Join.me because it was a client preference. Join.me has a lot more features but is not free. I do plan on upgrading to Skype Business as it has a lot more features. The bottom line for me is ease of use and that is Skype in a nut shell.

Same as before with updates and more features. Nothing much more to say, it's been practical. Zoom is efficient but doesn't allow chat like everyone is already familiar nowadays. (ex; Microsoft, ICQ, MSN, Messenger, Facebook Messenger, etc.) Chatting is now second nature to people and Skype does it fairly well.

  • Although you can't do a lot of users in one video chat, Skype still has the best video quality for virtual meetings.
  • Skype is the cheapest among the alternatives. It is absolutely free after all.
  • Skype has been the longest-running platform for online communication. It is still continually improving. That is a good thing.

Microsoft Teams seems to do everything that Skype does, but allows for much more collaboration with Office products, is much less clunky, and is much more easy to understand, seemingly. For videoconferencing, especially with offsite or non-organization users, Zoom is unrivaled in my opinion. It's lightweight, easy for everyone to use, and has great options for collaboration and sharing.

Skype is much more professional and international to use. The login is shared by the administrative staff which allows all of us to take turns doing interviews, it also helps that Skype is available with Microsoft Office so that parents can have teacher conferences via Skype when the timing is an issue.

Skype is installed by default in most Windows computers. And since many people have already used it, we don't have to explain what it is and how to use it. Also, it is free of charge, so it is not a burden for the people we want to talk with.

Skype seems to stand up well to Google Hangouts with the added bonus of you not having to have a Google account if you want to use it. It seemed like when I was talking with people about the best way to video conference them almost all of them knew what Skype was and felt confident in being able to use it.

We stick with Zoom as a company wherever we can, especially for client communications. We sometimes use Hangouts if it's convenient for a short conversation. We stay away from WebEx and Skype as much as we can (but keep Skype available since it's sometimes requested by clients).
WebEx and Skype race each other for unfriendly user experiences, but at least WebEx doesn't change things around every time we log into it.

I used BlueJeans for the first time recently, and it worked relatively well, although there was some delay in audio/video transmittal. The video also cut out here and there or froze. Altogether, it was about the same average quality as most video conferencing tools that I have used.

Pros

There was a free trial available, and it is rumored to work with Skype, as long as you send the correct invitation format to the person using Skype.

Cons

The video quality was not fantastic. However, after only using it once, I cannot be positive that issues I encountered were not due to my wifi quality at the time.

  • Zoom
I selected to review Skype because I use it most often. However, I have participated in meetings via Zoom, and I find them to be better in terms of video and audio quality. These Zoom meetings were conducted with the paid version of Zoom, which may have been the reason for the overall better video quality. I have never experienced dropped calls with Zoom, and it integrates with online calendars. Nevertheless, Skype is a good budget option.

Slack, WebEx, and Google Hangouts. Skype is not as fancy as Slack or WebEx, and not as international or widespread as Google Hangouts, however. As I've stated, it really shines in our closed environment and isolated domain. The truth is we have been using a Windows-only domain on our isolated environment and Skype fits very nicely into that. The simple integration into our current setup was easy and fast.

We use Skype the most for the simplicity of the program, also, everyone is familiar with the program from all over the world due to the global reach and support from Microsoft.

  • Zoom
I think Zoom is more suited for a company, whereas Skype is more for personal use. Zoom has the meeting capabilities that are more geared toward company usage compared to Skype.

It was already a part of our Microsoft subscription, tied to everyone's email address account, making it easier to manage. It is limiting when trying to have conversations with external people.

Google Hangouts is a product that can be used for single and conference video calls. I have used this platform in the past and it doesn't provide the same amount of features as Skype. Google Hangouts requires everyone to create a Google account to participate, while all of the users at our company already have Skype. Skype is also already integrated into our Outlook mail and calendar, which makes scheduling calls easier. The ease of access and stability of video quality is also more consistent with Skype. Google Hangouts requires links for invitations to join a chat, which do not always work, and sometimes require participation through a phone rather than a computer.
