I think Act-On would work equally well for small to large companies. If you are less confident or experienced in automation and funneling, Act-On genuinely invests in the expertise to guide and support you so you can be continually learning and developing your skills and application for the platform. You never feel you are in the deep end

I did, and I have. A former colleague has a start-up digital magazine I showed him why Zoho was perfect for his three person company. I am his Zoho administrator as a side hobby which almost serves for me as a testing platform. Useful advice for small groups implementing Zoho is don't integrate/turn on everything at once. Adoption by the users in manageable chunks will be easier in the long run.I have used CRM's and Salesforce Automation Tools from the beginning. I will skip Filemaker Pro, Act! and Goldmine and say SalesLogix was the first CRM I used and SalesForce.com was the first CRM I loved to use. The reason I appreciate Zoho so much is that SalesForce.com has become, for lack of a better term, too Fortune500. The tools and features are way beyond what Zoho offers, but cost of implementation and customization is way beyond most small business entities. The simplicity of Zoho and the low entry cost is what sold me.

Pros

  • Customer service. Act-on is the leader in client support for training, basic tips and trouble shooting to planning our Act-On strategy. The Act-On team is flexible, friendly, engaged and collaborative.
  • Act-On does not over-complicate its offering. It is visually appealing and intuitive. Some platforms are just too complicated to keep on top of. We are a small team with a busy marketing schedule. We do not depend a great deal on online lead generation for our growth, however Act-On is still a good fit for us.
  • Trust. No surprises once we had signed our agreement. In fact, our expectations were exceeded.
  • Value - price for service.

  • Ease of use for the outbound sales force, very little training required
  • Dashboards and Sales Reports are very easy to create and use, yet powerful
  • Territory Management tools and permissioning tools allow for complicated lead assignment rules
  • Add-ons, of Zoho Apps , Google Apps, other Apps, make for a very powerful suite
  • Zoho Creator allows someone without programming skills to create custom modules for CRM. The nature of our business required a custom module to catalog a client visit and the required data points

Cons

  • Program automation: the only feature I miss from Eloqua, which I used in a previous role, is the drag and drop canvas for building out a drip campaign. Act-On's functionality works perfectly, but the fact it's all listed in one vertical line makes it slightly more difficult to visualize the flow. Having said that, the tools are all there, it could just do with some extra visualization when it comes to making complex programs.
  • Website prospector. This is one of the features I use very heavily and although the new version recently launched is a big improvement, there's still room for more info. It's by no means bad, but I'd like to see some extra info in here.
  • Forms: Id like to see a more visual formbuilder, in line with the landing page improvements recently made. The form works great but are quite plain visually. This could be improved and remove the need for extra tools in WordPress/other programs.

  • The user interface is generally well laid-out. However, it can be hard to find things that you regularly need. The customization tools are powerful and available, but they are not well located. Additionally they can be a bit cumbersome.
  • Usability. Because of the product's use of AJAX, some of its behaviors are not always as a user might expected. For instance, the browser back button and the application back-buttons do not take you back to where you expect. Again this is clumsy, but something that you get used to and work with.
  • This is true for all CRMs, but it takes time to get familiar with the environment and to understand its sales process/management architecture. The creation of events and task, recording calls -- scheduling them and recording them requires some focus.

Everything is set up to be used very easily and and it is very intuitive. The menus are set up well and it's easy to find the areas that I need. Emails and landing pages are very easy to create, and they can be created quickly to help save time on campaigns and projects.

I'm sure our team went through the whole vetting process. I was not involved in that part so I am unable to really say how Act-On compares to other solutions in the market. I can say that my experience has been nothing less than excellent and that I think my team made the right decision

ZoHo was selected for budgetary purposes and while I think it's a perfectly usable and valuable tool, I found Sage and SalesForce easier to use and easier to get new employees acclimated to quicker.

Return on Investment

  • As stated in a previous section, one positive impact we have seen so far is the fact that we are more productive and efficient. We are no longer chasing after prospects that are not really interested in purchasing our product.
  • Our marketing team is able to produce nice reports to present at our team meetings every week.
  • The customer support has been so amazing. I needed help with something and had my answer within an hour! I was very impressed by the level of service Act-On provides to their customers.
