Just like many businesses, we were faced with having employees work from home due to the pandemic. It was hard to know if staff was productive and another business recommended ActivTrak. Within days of implementing the service, we had an employee demand to be allowed to work from home full time. We allowed it on a trial basis and with ActivTrak we were able to conclude that that particular employee's productivity dropped significantly. We've also utilized it with staff in office to determine who was really as busy as they claimed to be and who was spending a significant amount of time on personal tasks (shopping, news articles, personal correspondence). We were also able to use the service to shut down access to certain websites on company owned computers. ActivTrak has been a game changer in our business as it allows us to readjust workloads, determine if an "overloaded" employee was really overloaded, and allowed us to let employees work from home with the ability to know they are truly conducting business.
  • Segmenting different user groups
  • Track time spent in different productivity categories
  • Blocking Websites
  • Classification of subpages for domains
  • Reclassifying websites/applications
It's a great tool to help monitor both in office employees and work from home employees. We have peace of mind that employees are staying on task during work hours. Since this tracks every process on a computer instead of just mouse movement, it has helped identify inefficient processes that an employee may be using. We can also identify who has really streamlined their workflow.

We use Active Trak for remote employees. This allows us to monitor access to PHI, PII and PCI.
  • Monitors working hours
  • Monitors websites access and idle time
  • Give detailed information on what employees are doing on company devices
  • I would like to see recorded key strokes.
It's great for remote employee monitoring.

We use ActivTrak to monitor computer usage and for support and troubleshooting - It is very helpful in providing insights into who is using their laptop for things other than work, and to view the way staff are doing things to see how we can streamline different processes and ensure staff are following processes correctly.
  • Productivity tracking
  • Screenshots of usage
  • Custom triggers/alarms
  • Could update faster - Sometimes it takes 5 minutes or so for screenshots to become available
Most suited to environments where productivity monitoring is needed, or where you need to be sure and verify that people are following all the correct procedures.

Least suited to just seeing what people are doing - It takes a few minutes to show screenshots unless you look at live view.

We use ActivTrak in a lot of different ways. We use it to track production between employees. With us going remote, it was a way to keep tabs on all of our employees. We like the fact it helps us know if an employee is productive or not, and that it breaks down the different divisions and access for managers to those divisions. We like the different graphs and being able to use the data in Tableau. We like the auto-classification feature to help us cut down on managing the system. We use it for reviews and also for the termination of employees. We use it to also reward and bonus hard-working employees. We also use the tool to help gain insight if we need to hire another employee in a department. It is used as a safety feature to protect us from potential threats from outside and inside the organization. We like the capability to be able to screen shot so its not our word against theirs, and also like the alarms that we can alert of a potential issue, or prompts on new employees who are not quite sure of our policy.
  • User management.
  • User productivity.
  • Potential security issues.
  • Department breakdown.
  • Screen Shots.
  • Integration with Tableau.
  • Auto classification.
  • Great Support.
  • Issues with Macs/Apple.
  • Minor bugs and fixes.
  • More reports.
  • More tools.
Remote employees, larger corporations wanting to be able to see if employees are actually working, for managers that don't have time to micromanage employees. Just about business.

Productivity measures for remote workers. In the advent of COVID, we needed eyes on our employees and to maintain needed efficiency and productivity levels. Since that time, it has become more institutionalized and added to our metrics to measure by employee, team, division and company as a whole. It was disclosed to everyone for transparency and awareness.
  • Offers substantial detail to establish layers of analysis
  • Ability to adjust based on business needs - authorized vs unauthorized sites
  • Good level of accuracy
  • More frequent user training/update calls/meetings
If considering, you need to be totally transparent in the organization so there are no surprises with employees - include them in the initiative and gain their buy in.

We use it as a way to track productivity and application usage across onsite and wfh employees.
  • Easy to Use,
  • Good data,
  • Backup of information.
  • Management of licenses.
  • Exporting history.
It really depends on what your department needs as far as tracking goes. The ability to get super detailed may not be for everyone, but ActivTrak does a great job at giving a large overview of how the company is doing in general. We do not utilize all the tools available, but for what we need, it does the job. I would recommend it.

We use ActivTrak to validate management concerns regarding employee performance. Our usage policy is designed so the the tool is not used to go looking for problems but rather to verify suspected activities. The use of the system is strictly limited and is only used when authorized by Human Resources.
  • Excellent quick view of productivity ratio
  • Clear visualization of types of activities over a time time period
  • Very granular detailed information showing all activities without gaps
  • Would like to have the ability to create custom reports
  • Would like to see more built in reports
ActivTrak has been the most reliable and accurate usage tracking tool that we have found. It is not intrusive nor visible to the end user and does not cause performance issues. The data visualizations enable fast evaluation of employee performance. The classification system is easy to use and is flexible enough to accommodate exceptions that need to be added for specific users. Reporting is detailed and can be trusted if needed to be used for legal support.

ActivTrak has been a game changer. We implemented it just before COVID hit our area and have been using it to manage our workforce who moved from in-person only to remote first during the pandemic. ActivTrak has been a pivotal tool in helping us track activity and productivity, forecast burnout risk, and more. I have recommended this software to companies who are currently remote-first or are looking to become remote. A great product that is always taking customer feedback to improve its software. Highly recommend this tool
  • Productivity Tracking
  • Burnout Risk Forecasting
  • Team Pulse
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Easier ways to get data to share with stakeholders
  • Easier ways to integrate scheduling programs with software to ensure remote employees are working during scheduled times
  • Implement a way to remotely shut down a computer entirely
ActivTrak is a great tool for anyone looking for an easy to use software that will allow them to understand their team more intimately. We have used ActivTrak for termination decisions, for assessing burnout risk, and much more. This program is really easy to use and has all of the benefits you'd need from this type of product.

We used ActivTrak to track productivity. We were having a problem with employees saying they didn’t have enough time to complete their work, so with ActivTrak we were able to see where their time is going and help them with that problem by teaching them what to prioritize and focus their time on.
  • Screenshots of sites visited
  • Easy to install
  • Conspicuous, employees don’t know it’s on
  • It’s a lot of steps to get to viewing all the users history
  • Reports aren’t very complex
  • The main page can be confusing and takes time to get used to
I actually only had a positive experience, meaning it did what we set out for it to do, solve our timing issue. Although I don’t love the way their site works, we were able to get the data we needed. We were able to show our employees where their time was going and how they can approve.

We monitor staff productivity since the company has gone virtual / WFH.
  • Detailed user activity logs
  • Alarms & Alerts
  • Handling exceptions and exclusions
  • Emailed reports depend on Google Data Studio
  • Lack of customized reporting in general although the builtin reporting isn't bad
  • The collector agent installed on clients is quirky
While not perfect (non of these products are) it does a good job of giving you a baseline for employee productivity so that managers can coach or praise as needed.

We have been using ActivTrak for about three months now. It has been helpful to track our team's progress and monitor their use of our apps and programs. While ActivTrak does monitor our team's work, it does not feel invasive and still gives our team some privacy compared to some other programs offering the same service as ActivTrak.
  • Track employees.
  • Reporting
  • Easy to use
  • Create employee tracking schedules
  • Remote desktop tracking without having to register another user.
  • Installation ease
  • Remote desktop tracking
It is well suited to track employee use of their company computers and monitor their progress and productivity, especially in a remote environment.

We currently use ActiveTrak on a targeted basis as part of our performance management infrastructure. We have found it extremely beneficial in providing our Management and Development team with the trends and data around usage patterns and strategies. As a result, our effectiveness as a business in enhancing performance for those targeted users has been increased. In addition, we have found the tool useful in a number of scenarios, where perhaps trust is an issue, such as outgoing employees and this has to enable us to better protect the interests of the business in terms of data exfiltration and generally good practice. Within the first couple of months of using the product, it had paid for itself many times over just in this particular field of play.
  • Trend analysis
  • Data collection and presentation within a user friendly interface.
  • Ease of installation/ removal.
  • Data exporting / reporting.
  • High availability of service.
  • Remote installation within a domain environment is not consistently successful requiring physical installation in some instances. Best practice in terms of group policy to support remote installation would be beneficial.
  • Web activity can be challenging to drill down in terms of reporting via activity log, a more Power BI-like interface to drill down from top-level domains to individual pages and back again, for example, would be more intuitive and time-saving.
  • Email alerts when user count exceeds the license numbers.
For a team of remote working, this does identify different working methods and trends, especially when able to compare multiple users in a similar role it becomes extremely powerful to see where users can enhance performance and focus time/less time. This would be very difficult to establish even if the users are on-site with the manager. For more micro-management or specific scenarios, whereas, for a business, you need a close eye applying this as it is an extremely reliable and detailed tool that is such a good value for money.

I studied the ActivTrak functions on the portal and introduced them to the users. I also helped users to understand better and more effectively using ActivTrak as a monitoring tool.
  • Track user activities.
  • Define criteria for effective vs not effective.
  • Customize summary report function.
  • Be able to see live activity of users.
It's an excellent tool for improving work efficiency. But it's not appropriate if you use it to spy on users.

COVID brought about many changes, especially in that of remote work. In transitioning to a more remote workforce, we needed a way to measure our employees' productivity outside the office. ActivTrak has given us many insights into this. I love the reporting features, and the system is very user-friendly.
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Reporting features
  • Deployment
  • Mac deployment
ActivTrak has given us some great insight into how employees spend their working time when out of the office. We've been able to better track those employees close to burnout and those that are not using their work time to our standard of productivity.

I mainly use ActivTrak to keep track of attendance via the working hours report. I also use it to monitor the productivity of our employees.
  • Ease of use
  • Various live reports
  • Good support team
  • Random issues have happened
  • Sometimes lack of communication regarding random issues
  • Cumbersome classification feature
ActivTrak was a perfect fit for us during the pandemic when everyone was remote - we could see when people were logging and could keep track of productivity. However, I don't think the coaching and insights are worth the extra cost.

We are using it across our organization. At this point employees don't have access just managers. We are looking at a hybrid working situation with our employees and deciding if it is efficient to have employees working from home. We plan to roll it out so employees can track their own efficiency shortly.
  • Looks at work hours
  • Looks at productive hours
  • Gives overview of where time is being spent

Use to track overall productivity. Not so much the actual numbers themselves in AT because we have to add for items that it does not track (like attending Teams meetings on the compute platforms, or watching training videos, informational videos, etc.). It also does not work on platforms like mobile devices (tablets/phones) so we compensate for that as well. Overall get a good sense of where productivity trends are for teams, geographies, projects, etc. Gives a great insight into managing a large organization spread across the world where direct visibility may be limited.
  • Compute platform usage based productivity metrics
  • Summarized reports and insights
  • Does not track attending Teams meetings on the compute platforms
  • does not track teams watching training videos
  • does not track teams watching informational videos
  • does not work on platforms like mobile devices (tablets/phones)
Well suited where the work primarily heads down typing into the compute platforms - perhaps like BPO, application, gaming development industries Not so suited where there is significant collaboration on video calls (periods of a lull because of the conference), or testing involving embedded devices, etc.

With most organizations embracing remote or hybrid models, the need for a tool like ActivTrak is eminent to get insights on how the workforce in an organization is performing to help take appropriate decisions: 1) either to involve them within product development/implementations. 2) or to coach to get some personal time off for family and self. 3) or to help them reach the next level in their career. With recent changes in the org which lead to a new team working on building a product from scratch, there was a need to look for a tool like ActivTrak which provides insights on the utilization as well as understand any blockers leading to underutilized team members.
  • Provides details on focused hours vs multitasking hours within productive hours
  • Good enough coaching points for underutilized team members, though high level
  • Provides active dashboard capturing current status of team members
  • Provides the ability to schedule Personal Insights which provides an opportunity to improve on utilizing time effectively.
  • With teams working across time zones, provide customization to select the time zone for a team member under a manager. Though a time zone filter is provided for tiles, appears refresh would not change metrics. Also does not show all standard time zones.
  • Should provide customization opportunities as in how many workdays should be counted per time period, like integration with tools like workday or ADP is being missed to capture leaves.
  • An hour worked on the weekend is messing up averages as it's counted for work, provide the option to add hours vs ignore hours on weekends without counting a day.
  • Provide customization in terms of selecting visuals per manager vs providing standard visuals.
  • AI/ML utilization to provide detailed insights focusing on helping individuals improve is the topmost requirement for a product such as ActivTrak to dominate the market.
Well suited for teams working in a remote or hybrid model to provide insights on how the team is working and to uncover common patterns within the team to identify collaborative hours in geographically diverse teams. Less appropriate for teams working in office model as this primarily captures screen hours as any robust algorithm still needs manual intervention to identify productive vs other hours effectively.

Ridiculous lead times on support, and shady billing practices. They can bill your credit card even if it expires and good luck getting support from billing if something is wrong. Joining ActivTrak was the biggest mistake I've made in my whole career. They make it so easy to add new users automatically without any human intervention, but if you want to cancel? No automated methods to reduce users or cancel must talk with a representative. What a sham. The software doesn't work that great billing aside. Constant reinstalls required to keep things running became more of a pain than it was worth. Hard to track employees quietly when you have to do a reinstall twice a week to keep stats running. Support gives the runaround for weeks on end and still no resolution. Stay away. There's better software out there with way better support
  • Nothing
  • Billing
  • Removing users
  • Cancelation
It's not well suited anywhere. It never worked for more than a few weeks before needing to be reinstalled. Contacting support is like pulling teeth.

I like to monitor employees' productive and unproductive work hours. I also like to check screen views so I can see what someone is doing in real-time. It works remotely without any hassle. ActivTrak provides valuable information about employees and how they go about their work.
  • Screenshots service.
  • Real time screen sharing.
  • Reporting tools.
  • Productive hours.
  • Need little more re-organized interface.
  • Reduce page load time.
  • Email support should be merged with web portal support.
ActivTrak is extraordinary with tracking representative teams and what they're doing. It would be nice to utilize it for worker surveys. The only downside I've found is when a representative goes to individual websites, the software creates some problems. Otherwise, I'm highly satisfied with the product.

Our organization runs the largest business competition in Eastern Canada on an annual basis. We use ActivTrak to prevent cheating and to preserve the integrity of the competition by assuring that competitors don't access forbidden resources (e.g., communicating with their coaches). We deployed ActivTrak remotely on 500+ computers for the 3-day competition.
  • Setting up alerts when users access software/websites of interest.
  • Grouping users according to their permissions and roles.
  • Scheduling when the tracking agent should function.
  • The ability to bulk remove the tracking agent from multiple computers.
  • The ability to create a remote install link that lasts more than 72 hours.
  • More prompt resolution with ActivTrak support.
We thought ActivTrak was great for our use case of temporarily monitoring the behavior of people during competitions. It could also be used in an academic setting to enable taking tests remotely on personal computers. We didn't really use the workforce monitoring functionalities so I can't speak to the value of those.
