Google Analytics is perhaps the best-known web analytics product and, as a free product, it has massive adoption. Although it lacks some enterprise-level features compared to its competitors in the space, the launch of the paid Google Analytics Premium edition seems likely to close the gap.

Chartbeat's realtime its superior to all tools we have. It really makes the difference. We are in calls with Chartbeat for raw data, this is a new product and it will be open a lot of interesting information with raw data in real-time.

Chartbeat really remains the gold standard in the tracking, measurement and display of realtime engagement metrics. If your site has sufficient audience benefit from immediate changes in content programming, display and design, it's a great tool with a highly refined and intuitive user experience. Plus, it's API allows for broad integration.

Larger analytics suites like Google Analytics and Omniture simply do not provide the kind of real-time data that Chartbeat does. I have used Parse.ly which has some interesting real-time features as well; I would say Parse.ly is similar in terms of ease of use, though Chartbeat does give you the feeling of using a best-in-class product.

I haven't used or evaluated others but we use Google Analytics too. I find Chartbeat more user friendly - and rely on the live numbers more than in GA. However, for more qualitative data, over longer periods of time, I use GA because of the search functionality - and that we measure targets this way.

Google Analytics doesn't provide as useful real-time intelligence and has more of a lag. It's also very complex and has unnecessary data. Chartbeat is instant and more user friendly.

In a previous job I had use of Parse.ly and, while at the time I thought it was a very useful tool, it wasn't as detailed as the Chartbeat metrics. Chartbeat gives you more insight into concurrents on your website at a given time, rather than just individual stories, and when using the historical tool also provides wider detail on how each individual news article performed. This includes average engaged time, whether it performed best internally, on social or on search, and details how many page views that article generated. Chartbeat's integration with your website is also a useful tool for knowing when to move stories further up a page, based on its real-time interaction.

I prefer Chartbeat for its easy to use interface and its more accurate snapshot of real-time results. By including some measures, like not counting users who haven't scrolled or moused over a period of time, it provides a more selective display of website activity at any given time.

I have used Google Analytics' realtime tool but I thought it was less user friendly than Chartbeat and did not measure site performance in the same way. The concurrents number was much higher due to how it was measured which I felt gave a less reliable picture than Chartbeat.

Chartbeat is great because it gives you numbers fast. It can be left up on a screen all day and not touched and will still give you facts that you want or need about how many people are on the website at a given time. It is reliable and very easy to understand.

GA is free, but often hard to use. Allowing access to GA for a client can often lead to a ton of unnecessary conversations like, "Hey why is this page doing so poorly." For a 30,000 ft view, you can give your executive what they want to see without opening the entire kimono.

I currently use Gaug.es. It's cheaper and a bit more simplified. But I like it's quick read format that allows me to view all 10 of my clients sites at once.
