We used Contentstack in a pretty vanilla CMS setup. The client needed to be able to update the text content for their website without the requirement for Dev resource.

Frankly, I wasn't involved with the actual setup of the, but regularly contributed to the management of the content and layout.
I found Contentstack relatively straightforward to work with, albeit the handling of image uploads / conversion could do with a little streamlining.
It needs to be stated that whilst Contentstack was rock solid in use, the implementation of a CMS was perhaps overkill for a relatively simple website - the client however we're happy with the results.

  • Easy to manage once implemented
  • Good tools for the handling / conversion / compression of images.
  • Intuitive layout tools
  • Fiddly setup
  • The image tools, whilst good, are less than intuitive
In the most recent project in which we used Contentstack, the client requested to host their text content via CMS so that their Content Editors could manage the text and layout without requirements for developer intervention.
Contentstack worked fine for this solution, however there is a worry that the solution was perhaps over engineered - as the site was relatively small and uncomplicated

We use Contentstack to deliver content to our logged-in and non-logged-in channels, mobile and web. Mainly to deliver marketing content and description of our products. We have entire sites where all the content has been decoupled from the front end and we leave it all in CMS Headless. We also transferred all our FAQs content to Contentstack, so our business and content team can update it much more easily.
  • Content update
  • content omnichannel
  • content modeling
  • Intuitive interface, very easy to use
  • license control
  • consumption statistics of each content
I strongly recommend Contentstack for sites and applications that need content that changes and content is published frequently. Example pages with product descriptions, blog, FAQ pages, stories. With Contentstack we were able to leave all creation and alteration of content to the business team, demanding less from the technology team. The use of Contentstack has helped a lot in communicating with our customers, allowing the business team to create and change content according to the market strategy.

Before deciding on Contentstack, we researched some tools, we chose it because of the ease of creating and changing content, the API options for querying content, the ease of modeling new content APIs, high capacity of the CDN to deliver content, ease of integration with other tools and GraphQL support.
