What is Seismic Learning?

Seismic Learning (formerly Lessonly, acquired by Seismic in August 2021) is training software with an ecosystem of partners, strategy and services that are aligned under the mantra of Do Better Work.

The vendor has worked with over 800 companies to help them train their teams. The vendor says they've learned that the highest performing organizations build their training on the same six pillars:

  • Assess (Gather Needs & Inputs) Listen to people, data, and the market; identify successes and challenges; and accurately assess your sales team's training needs.
  • Plan (Prioritize for Impact) Identify the most essential objectives and outcomes, and intentionally set milestones for creation and delivery.
  • Build (Create Quickly & Collaboratively) Work with teammates at the front lines of the business to develop and iterate on bite-sized training/content.
  • Learn (Meet Learners Where They Are) Push training content to teammates-- anywhere, anytime-- so they can quickly solve problems in their moment of need.
  • Practice (Rehearse, Refine, Repeat) Reinforce skills and information with realistic practice scenarios and receive feedback to fuel improvement.
  • Perform (Doing Better Work) Empower the organization to continuously improve, deliver and quantify results.

Seismic Learning ultimately aims to help organizations to achieve faster onboarding, higher NPS score, more closed deals and a superior customer experience.

I have used one other similar software in the past, and Lessonly is much more user-friendly. The previous software was extremely clunky, and even after going through training on it, I never fully utilized it because of how overly complicated it was.

There is no comparison between Lessonly and LearnCore (previous LMS). Lessonly's robust feature set offered improvements in every area (learner management, content management, platform administration and customization). The ability to practice skills within Lessonly would also be beneficial (although to be clear this isn't a feature we currently use).

Not Applicable. I had to choose a platform in order to move forward. I have not used any products like Lessonly. I have always trained staff the old fashioned way: spending several days to a week showing the new hires the ropes, getting them settled, sitting with them while they run through the first few jobs on their own, and then let them work solo. Lessonly eliminates 90% of that because it teaches them for you. You build the lessons once and then you can use them as many times as you want.

Lessonly has great admin abilities and is very easy to use on both the user end and the admin end. Lessons are incredibly easy to use and create, and they look great without too much effort on the creator’s side.

Lessonly's tools allow me to natively create screen recordings with narration - this was something that I couldn't do with other LMS products that I reviewed. Other providers did not offer the ability to quickly pull up lessons and review them side-by-side in Chrome. Being able to create diverse content and also make it really easy for learners to access that information was really important to me. I was impressed by Lessonly's user-friendly platform from the get-go.

We looked to bring on an LMS for a few reasons. First, to free up our bandwidth (with a small team of two training and developing 60+ revenue generating roles) - an LMS system allowed us to create well-built out, self-paced trainings that did not need to be delivered in person. Second, we needed a tool to better track, train, teach, and gather insight into how our reps are progressing in their development. Lessonly has delivered in spades.

We are able to leverage Lessonly in so many different ways: new hire onboarding trainings, product updates, marketing roll-outs, knowledge base, compliancy trainings, etc.

Lessonly has been a great tool for the organization in the onboarding and training of both new employees and existing employees transitioning to new roles. Although we have looked into similar companies and products, I do not have much experience with the competitors. Lessonly has been satisfactory since the implementation and we are excited to continue using the product.

Lessonly is well-suited for the non-educational, corporate industry as an easy to use LMS. The platform is easy to use, create content, and implement within an organization.

Lessonly offered several advantages over these competitors. They offer comparable functionality to industry leaders like Adobe and SAP, while at the same time offering far more responsive and friendly customer support. At the same time, they offered a more robust and feature-rich experience than other similar-sized organizations like Looop and Brainshark. For companies of their size, Lessonly is definitely the leader in LMS tools.

Besides SharePoint and LMS, we haven't used much else for training. When we looked at Lessonly, we did evaluate several other companies but I can't remember their names. Lessonly was by far the easiest to use from both a creator and an end-user perspective. It also had the reporting we were seeking.

I was just about to invest in Articulate Storyline when I discovered Lessonly. Articulate does allow for more interactive programming, but Lessonly is so easy to use. It allows us to produce twice the amount of content for our customers in half the time.

We looked at several other big LMS platforms but found them too bloated and compliance-based. We didn't want an LMS so we could check compliance boxes and say, "See! We trained this person, so it's their fault they didn't follow our training!" We wanted a platform to help our staff be successful in doing the things they need to do in their roles. Lessonly matched up with that passion.

I selected Lessonly due to a few factors - the alignment with company values, the ease of pricing, the user interface and the willingness to adapt to our specific needs.

Overall, Lessonly had the UI and features we desired. The functionality and support structure was also something we liked over the other vendors. We also were included in their Yellowship user conference.

When using Google Docs, you'd only have a doc saved if you've opened it. Anyone new to the team would not have access to Google Docs before their time unless it was emailed to them. I like that Lessonly gets everyone up to speed and gives new team members access to previous training right away.

Simple, Intuitive and Innovative - Lessonly was one of 9 different platforms we evaluated and determined meet all the key criteria areas for the business. The team was effective in articulating the business solution after understanding the needs and didn't pressure us to make a decision. Very professional!

I inherited Lessonly, but have chosen to stay with them thanks to their excellent customer service, and the ease of use.

My learners find the UI/UX simple and easy, and the ability to take courses on their mobile phones has been vital to our adoption.

While Lessonly does not create content, they make it easy for people who would prefer to write their own.

Lessonly also does not believe that gamification is the most effective way to teach/learn. I share this opinion, and appreciate that they do not design their interface to make learning a competition.

Before Lessonly, we used Google, and although our company continues to use Google Drive for other things, when we started to grow, it became apparent that we needed to use a software that was dedicated to providing an online learning platform. Lessonly is affordable and offers great support in addition to simply having the kind of platform tools that we need. It wasn't until recently that we started thinking about having an external use for Lessonly that has caused us to see its weakness there. That said, Lessonly is highly customizable and has otherwise continued to offer the exact toolset we need as our own company grows and scales. They are also continually adding valuable features to their product, and so far there is no real reason to leave the platform.
