It was about time we got Kronos

We use Kronos across the entire organization. It replaced a manual system that was labour intensive and time consuming for HR to manage. Kronos has automated our time sheet and vacation planning functions and enforces all rules uniformly across all departments. Most impressive was Kronos' implementation of our needs into the software. Their project management and attention to detail assured us throughout the implementation process that we were on the road to success.
  • Uniform collection of timesheet data.
  • Vacation requests and timesheet submission notifications are immediately sent to supervisors and managers for approval.
  • End users have the option of a mobile app or conventional workstation for accessing their Kronos information.
Cons
  • Simplify some of the interfaces.
One area where Kronos makes life easier is in vacation planning. Managers can easily see their department and determine whether or not to grant a vacation request based on current information.

We use it for time and attendance across several departments (union & non-union).
  • Flexibility.
  • Good support system.
  • Ease of use.
Cons
  • Easy integration with WorkDay.
  • Better durability of clock touch screens.
UKG Ready is well suited for our time and attendance needs. The University is not utilizing it to its fullest capabilities. Our IT folks have tried to adapt it to meet a need of importing the employees' time into WorkDay with varying degrees of success.

Kronos for time management

The entire organization across multiple departments was using Kronos. It was initially being used for timekeeping only, but then other modules like recruitment, onboarding, compensation were utilized. The system was beneficial in tracking time for nonexempt employees. Due to the organizational structure and business requirements, the employees are expected to login/logout at a specific time and take breaks at a particular time. The system helped maintain compliance with the policies and showing inconsistencies.
  • The analytics feature is awesome. It shows missed punches by the team which is an important feature to track in the company.
  • If employees login early, they should not be paid. These configurations were possible.
  • If employees are late due to unforeseeable conditions an exception should be made in their login time so that they were not penalized. A manager could make these exceptions.
  • It is possible to capture and review notes for each day.
Cons
  • The schedule and timesheet features work great but since Kronos is coming up with newer features in HR they need more development.
  • For example reports. The inbuilt reports are helpful in accomplishing the day to day responsibilities. But, if there were requests for custom reports it was difficult to get that information from the system.
  • The training materials are great but the system is not very user-intuitive while navigating during report requests.
  • The timekeeping module - analytics and reports work great in the system. It is well suited even for large companies.
  • For a small to mid-sized company, this system would work best as it would suit the day to day requirements. It would also be a good idea to interface this product with other existing advanced HR systems.

We are currently using the time keeping feature, but the rest of the features have not been configured correctly, so the rest of the system is worthless.
  • Kiosks are easy to use
  • Tracking punches
Cons
  • The implementation process needs a lot of work.
If a company only has to worry about basic employment laws, no convoluted union contracts that change the way time is calculated, it's pretty straightforward and easy to use. If you work for a company with 10 different employment contracts and pay ordinances, configuration and maintenance will be difficult.
