Considered Both Products
ActiveCampaign
Chose ActiveCampaign
I looked into Keap but didn’t use [it] due to their pricing being too high for me. Not sure the exact similarities/differences between ActiveCampaign and Keap but ActiveCampaign seemed to encompass most of my needs. The other product we have used but just discontinued is Leadpag…
Chose ActiveCampaign
I wanted something more robust from a CRM perspective than ConvertKit, and didn't need all the bells and whistles of Ontraport. ActiveCampaign was the best blend of features I was looking for, for the best price point. It has also been recommended to me by several people, as …
Chose ActiveCampaign
For the price, ActiveCampaign is streets ahead. I probably use about 60% of the platform's functionality with a further 20% that I could benefit from using and intend to explore in the next 12 months. This compares to only about 25% usage with some other platforms or having to …
Chose ActiveCampaign
In comparison to all the other systems (except Keap), ActiveCampaign goes above and beyond for email marketing, marketing automation, and CRM functionality. It's the closest you can get to an all-in-one system.

And while Infusionsoft is also robust, it's not very intuitive. …
Chose ActiveCampaign
I had to hire an entire team to manage Keap as it was so complex and not user friendly and it was very expensive. Mailchimp was very easy to use, but had less features that I needed. ActiveCampaign is the better of the 3, but still a little expensive. However, the features make …
Chose ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign is easier to use, customize, and set up specifically for your business than most other platforms.
Chose ActiveCampaign
I used it for my university but it was too much for my small company to build, develop, and manage.
Chose ActiveCampaign
I was a previous Mailchimp user and ActiveCampaign is head and shoulders above MC. The functionality and depth of what I can do is so much better. The price seems to be better for what you get.
Chose ActiveCampaign
AC is a more capable, easier to use and price effective option, with more bells & whistles
Chose ActiveCampaign
It's not as friendly and easy as I was used in Mailchimp, but it's power is endless. Automation capabilities, tag management, lead scoring. As soon as you get used to it, this is a swiss knife
Chose ActiveCampaign
I've used several alternatives to AC and have found that ActiveCampaign far and away - blows the competition out of the water. The email automation & sequences are so easy to implement. The deliverability is always top notch. Customer service is another way AC provides the best …
Chose ActiveCampaign
Never worry about being charged for duplicate contacts or frustrating automations with ActiveCampaign. MailChimp is a great beginner level CRM to get your feet wet and see if you really want to make your website/blog a business. ActiveCampaign is for when you're serious and …
Chose ActiveCampaign
I was recommended by another person who currently uses the platform. The colors also made me chooose. The blue looks refreshing and updated.
Chose ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign is by far superior to other email marketing tools I've used such as AWeber, Constant Contact, and Mailchimp. ActiveCampaign is meant for online businesses and can grow with you as your business grows. It also makes it easy to get tasks done that online businesses …
Chose ActiveCampaign
I started off with a free service that very quickly didn't meet my requirements and didn't have many of the integrations offered by ActiveCampaign. I chose ActiveCampaign for its integrations, functionality and value.
Chose ActiveCampaign
No contest here. ActiveCampaign has been around much longer, and is more trusted solution.
Chose ActiveCampaign
Definitely, ActiveCampaign has the ability to give us more control within our large email lists and engaged prospects.
Chose ActiveCampaign
We had a brief and very disappointing relationship with Infusionsoft a few years ago. They struggled in vain trying to get an API properly configured so that we could move data through one of our flagship web sites. After about half a dozen fruitless iterations, they gave up, …
Chose ActiveCampaign
I used to use MailChimp, and ActiveCampaign is just so much more flexible when it comes to things like segmenting your list. Now instead of sending everybody everything, I know that the emails I send are to people who are interested in that specific subject, which helps with …
Chose ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign is a great solution for the business that has a few thousand contacts. It allows you to segment your list and send them relative information. This way you aren't sending out a blanket email to the whole group. Each person in your group can receive information …
Leadpages
Chose Leadpages
I have used Mailchimp for clients, and use ActiveCampaign personally for my email marketing and have used it for clients, but prefer Leadpages for the frontend of the opt-in process because of its analytics and performance metrics. Leadpages makes it super easy to see what's …
Chose Leadpages
Leadpages is the market leader so it was easy to go with them. I also started using them in 2016, when there were far fewer products on the market. Since then the landscape has become much more competitive, but I signed a 2 year contract at a time when there seemed to be a …
Chose Leadpages
Leadpages is much more flexible, easier to use, and generally satisfying in delivering high-quality results. Compared to other page builders, it offers an experience that features a lot fewer moments of frustration or bewilderment. Although it represents a noteworthy financial …

ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign is brilliant for small businesses wanting a secure, reliable and user friendly email capture software that filters users emails into the appropriate category/tags and have endless options when it comes to having different lead magnets and ways users may sign up. It's been super handy for my small business to send regular emails and be able to analyse the success rates and open rates of emails and the ability to resend them with a different subject line. It's made email marketing really easy peasy.

It's great if you want an easy-to-use but extremely robust tool for producing effective online marketing pages since it makes production work enjoyable and inspires fresh creativity. It also offers wonderful split-testing capabilities which can enhance marketing results. But if you're looking for an out-of-the-box collection of standardized, one-size-fits-all marketing resources, you really might want to consider looking elsewhere.

Pros
ActiveCampaign
  • The graphic design is very good, especially fonts, colours and templates
  • Flexibility of design and functionality
  • Takes a little while to learn it, but generally user-friendly
  • Looks very professional but doesn't cost much to get started
  • There are masses of integrations for ActiveCampaign, and the ones I tried all worked well and didn't take long to figure out.

Leadpages
  • Leadpages integrates well with many of the main software that businesses use like Infusionsoft, Hubspot, Marketo, Mailchimp, GoToWebinar, and Wordpress. This allows your landing pages to be integrated well into the other processes you have with your business.
  • Leadpages makes it easy to build professional looking landing pages without having to hire someone else or have coding skills. Their drag and drop builder makes it easy enough to use and get the hang of. I particularly love the hundreds of templates they provide for you to help give you ideas and get you going faster.
  • They also have a Leadbox function that has also been super useful in being able to get other types of forms up on our website. These forms provide some functionality that our website wouldn't have had without them.

Cons
ActiveCampaign
  • The email designing part could be easier to use. There are certain simple shortcuts that don't work, for example, adding links is more complicated than it should be, moving blocks around is hard, etc.
  • There's no good way to filter by 'active' and 'inactive' subscribers when editing en-mass.
  • I'd like more reporting data on one page.

Leadpages
  • While most of the editing functions are easy to figure out, some of the finer details to get spacing, sizing, alignment and layout just right can take some trial and error if you don't have formal training in the tool. A lot of the editing tools are collapsed into sections, and finding just what you're looking for can sometimes be a challenge.
  • I don't believe the version we used had a page optimizer or optimization score, which I have seen on other landing page builders. This may be a feature of a more premium version of the tool or may have been turned off by the product manager, but it would be a helpful feature.

I am committed at the moment. Rebuilding the automations I have would be a huge time drain. Plus the cost of learning a new system and the risk to deliverability of porting a 6,000 person list to a new platform. Also, AC offers everything I need ast a reasonable (but a little high) price. So, why not a 10? Because, early 2023, AC dropped a massive 2x price hike on long-term customers. They knew few would shift, so this feels like a cynical cash grab and left a bad taste, If they do something like this again, this camel will have a broken back.

Usability
ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign has been the easiest marketing automation software we have ever used. They provide tips throughout the entire process of anything you are building. Their support team through LIVE CHAT has been extremely fast and helpful. The monthly meetings provided with the enablement team has helped us through several large and urgent needs.

I would give it a 10, for me, I love all the features. For the average person, the number of choices on a landing page could create a decision paradox. Thankfully the pre-designed landing page templates do not require a lot of decisions for a landing page newbie.

Reliability and Availability
ActiveCampaign
I haven't experienced application errors or unplanned outages at all. Active Campaign is ultra reliable and I would not be using them if that were the case. Also, the helpful emails they send are welcomed and informative, and present very practical tips and guidance for using the platform. They're always demonstrating new features and I'm thankful for that.

Oh my gosh, Active Campaign's performance gets an A+++ in my book. The pages load quickly and so do the reports. I haven't noticed any slowdowns when it's integrating with other programs and it performs excellently on all levels.

This might be the best part. The chat support lady offered to make a video to help me solve my problem. I worked in customer service for years and I've never done that, lol. So, if they're offering things like that, I can only imagine that they'd be able to handle most any issue you throw at them.

Leadpages support is helpful, they also created many resources to help people create good funnels and learn about small things that matter when doing marketing. The affiliate program is good and could be something which pays for your subscription. People like Leadpages because its been recommended by many influencers participating in affiliate program and also because it just works without problems and does the job. But right now alternatives should be taken in consideration, as there are many other projects that could do it better and cheaper.

I moved to ActiveCampaign from Mailchimp. Admittedly, I was using the free version of Mailchimp, but I had numerous episodes of subscriber data NOT being added to Mailchimp, despite using API to integrate with my mailing list. Obviously, I couldn't pay for clicks and not capture subscriber data, so I had to find something else. ActiveCampaign has been 100% reliable in testing.

I have used Mailchimp for clients, and use ActiveCampaign personally for my email marketing and have used it for clients, but prefer Leadpages for the frontend of the opt-in process because of its analytics and performance metrics. Leadpages makes it super easy to see what's performing well, without having to dive into Google Analytics or aggregate any other data. Leadpages also integrates really well with WordPress, my primary platform, with opt-in forms (wayyyy better than Mailchimp).

Scalability
ActiveCampaign
My web designer told me about Active Campaign and although I don't recall which platform I had before, I LOVE Active Campaign and its user friendliness. The transition was seamless and I've never had a problem with functionality or server failure.
Active Campaign provides so many features, and makes it easy for non-techies to maneuver around the site with ease. They capture information and put it in an easy-to-read format.
At this point, I don't think I'd ever use any other platform!

Return on Investment
ActiveCampaign
  • I haven't monetized my list yet so no clear ROI but great from a list-building perspective
  • The software is not cheap so at times I feel like I may not be getting the most out of the product because I'm not using all of the features

  • Leadpages, as long as you have it set up properly, will have a quick ROI within days of your first campaign.
  • For those that are not familiar, it is probably best to hire someone to take over this part and still your ROI will be very quick, including the cost of this professional.
  • Overall, Leadpages has a very fast ROI if used and implemented in a timely manner, and used to constantly evolve what you are doing with new fresh content.
