While Bullhorn ATS has received positive feedback for its effectiveness in streamlining business processes and managing candidate pipelines, some users have experienced reliability issues and slow support response times. Nonetheless, Bullhorn ATS remains a popular choice for organizations seeking a comprehensive solution for applicant tracking, customer relationship management, and overall business development.

Used for Recruiting. A-Z process and client management
• Customer support response
• DON'T SELECT BULLHORN.
• FMissing standard functionally such being able to sending an interview confirmation to a candidate or client. Names, titles & address are not pulled automatically. Custom work to set this up is charged at ridicilous $$$ hourly prices
• When you want to depart you are ransomed thousands. At least $25k. Oh and $1 per attachement/CV.
in my opinion, It looks good but it misses A LOT of functionality. They then want you to 'pay' to 'customise' read - add standard functionality - which ever recruitment software has. And btw you are actually only paying for some simple scripting anyone can understand. When you want to depart you are ransomed thousands. At least $25k. Oh and $1 per attachement/CV.

Bullhorn, has provided inaccurate details about applicant/s.
Applicant/s are not given proper relief, usually 30 days
to correct, inaccuracies gathered by and supplied by non-profits.
Non-profit/s, Clearinghouse data, wrong degree/s and dates
remember, the disclaimer, non-profit is not responsible for errors?
That's just the beginning of the errors, applicant/s are not given
the opportunity provide actual documents to correct the errors.

The errors delay hiring, the applicant is flushed, seeking a new
candidate. • Well Bullhorn is not properly mapped to other onboarding system/s
• Well Bullhorn is fast, yet provides error/s gathered about applicants
• Bullhorn is mapping to other systems is clunky, applicants complain, yet not fixed
• Bullhorn portal fails to permit applicant/s ability to correct clearinghouse data errors gathered, so dirty data, is passed to the employer from a source not liable for errors.
• E. College Clearinghouse - non-profit provides wrong degrees and date/s
• discrepancies, dirty data is not corrected, and the applicate offer revoked...
• Applicant/s are not provided the opportunity to show proof -actual degree & dates.
• Dirty Data on applicant/s, needs to have a way to correct errors, upload the degree etc. when there are discrepancies...dirty data provided by non-profits, not liable for errors.. What if you child was turned down for a dream job, because of dirty data?
• A single mom, just finished her degree or advancing for the next opportunity is declined because of dirty data about her degree which took her X# of yrs to complete?
Applicant/s should be given access, to review dirty data, and provide a way to upload validation to correct dirty data gathered from clearinghouse and non-profits who are not liable for errors. Bullhorn is not liable either, yet reports dirty data gathered.
Applicant/s rights need to be first before a revocation of offer...
This is a non-recommendation, as a result of dirty data gathered impacting hiring decisions.

I was recently migrated (April '22) from Sendouts ATS (15 years) to Bullhorn ATS. I find the Bullhorn product to be far inferior to the much older Sendouts product. So many ridiculous functionality issues. Search radius for candidates maxed out at 100 miles. I recruit nationally. Sendouts' search radius was 500 miles. Getting logged off the system if actions are not taken within an arbitrary time period. My personal notations on candidates require me to click several tabs to read. While scrolling through a candidate list on Sendouts I was able to clearly read my notations on the candidate's homepage. In entering search strings having to double click on skills to have them populate is a joke. The email functionality makes AOL look state-of-the-art. I could go on and on. Does anyone know of an ATS provider that can migrate me out of Bullhorn. I may be in a pickle regardless based upon a time commitment I made for the product. I just figured that if Bullhorn was the "newer, more robust survivor and acquirer" they'd have a better mouse trap. I couldn't have been more wrong. Last but not least - haven't been able to figure out the integration with LinkedIn! Sincerely, Frustrated in NY.
• Their tech support personnel are sympathetic and reasonably informed on the phone.
• They migrated me for free - but you know what you get for free.
• Their logo makes sense.
• Search radius of 100 miles is absurdly small.
• Email functionality is archaic.
• Establishing search strings requires double-clicking into fields.
The product is clunky at best and downright useless if needed for true applicant tracking and communications.

Bullhorn is our ATS/CRM. We use it for all our Recruiting and Business development tracking and management.
• Integration with email
• Manages submissions and the placement life cycle well
• Easy to use
• Worst Customer/Technical Service Support I've ever encountered
• They nickel and dime you for every little issue
• They blame the customer for issues and then deliberately move slowly to fix problems they created.
• Terrible communication
• They will overbill you and try to get away with it unless you catch them red handed.
The product is fine, it is the company employees and how management enables these entitled individuals to mistreat their customers. They will blame the customer for technical issues every time. They hate to take responsibility. They force the customer to be proactive to get any issue solved. They will admonish the customer when they get upset over Bullhorn's incompetency.

An absolute catastrophe. Lies during sales pitch Incompetent IT helpdesk Incompetent service provision After several conversations we chose bullhorn. Based on the sales pitch, it best suited our development, working method, and requirements. A wrong decision. During the introduction phase, after the finalization of the contract, we found out that we were lied to on several aspects. For example, the system did not work with us, this was specifically discussed during the purchase interview. Then we were lied to about the further process, or as they call it themselves a human error. They believe that they do not have to resolve this, as it was an individual mistake made by one of their employees. The cost of this mistake for us is approximately €1,500. I advise you to look further, there will be better, user-friendly, and fewer lying parties on the market than this one.
• Liying
• Not solving issues
• sell their product to you so they earn money!

Because of the horrible service and the lies we see it all as one big mistake!

Doesn't solve any of my business processes, only used an expensive CV database.
• Storing CV's
• Contracts - auto renewal for 12 months, if notice is not given 60 days before.
• Clunky system, very slow
• Website integration - Need a team of web developers to integrate website
• Boring user interface, makes CRM system a chorr
• Customer service. No one answers the phone. People take 5 days to get back to you on email, you send another reply to that email, you have to wait another 5 days. Outrageous service.
• No account managers or point of contact for customers. No check-ins to see how I am getting on with the system.
Well suited for companies with awful processes and are happy with a clunky system their staff don't want to use. Not suited for smart, young, and agile companies, that want to provide an excellent service to their clients and candidates.

Bullhorn ATS/ CRM is used company wide to support recruitment activities. Bullhorn acts as a central repository for all applicants resumes and respective details. Bullhorn helps in sourcing candidates as well as creating a database of all candidates organisation wide. It helps in recruitment by allowing the user to source candidates across the internal Bullhorn database and offers integration with other job boards.
• Tracking Candidates
• Sourcing Resumes
• Multi User system - allows for collaboration across the organisation
• The interface is complicated and not so user friendly
• Resume sourcing does give adequate results as compared to other ATS
• Integration with job boards like Careerbuilder/ Monster/ Dice can be much better
Bullhorn is well suited for large recruitments firms wherein there are upwards of 200 employees and it will not be favourable to use Bullhorn if there are just 40-50 active users. Bullhorn is suited when the organization doesnt want to invest in multiple tools like Monster resume search, Careerbuilder, Dice Resume and use just one system and get all the other portals integrated.

We use it as a CRM/ATS for handling recruitment and job interview processes. We have the Corporate Edition with integration with LinkedIn Recruiter (Full).
• The onboarding process is quite good. We were impressed with our consultant.
• It is very buggy, and they put the onus on the user to work around those bugs. You will find yourself constantly clearing browsing data and restarting your machine just to log in or get things set up.
• The default categories and functionality are really outdated. You can add fields yourself, but this is time-consuming, and the issues with cookies/browsing data mean you often get weird behavior when you edit the interface.
• It is time-consuming to upload and parse CVs to the system, and not well integrated with a typical LinkedIn workflow.
• Lack of accountability: Staff fob you off with excuses and workarounds, and nothing gets fixed. These are fixable problems, but nobody cares.
Get something more up-to-date and more tailored towards modern recruitment workflows.

BullHorn is being used across my entire organisation to
• Track and manage client & candidate interactions.
• Search clients & candidates based on a specific requirement or location.
• Market to via SMS, email and phone.
• Manage the sales pipeline effectively.
• The ability to hashtag consultants, client contacts & candidates.
• The ability to customise individual views at the consultant level, and from an administrator perspective customise yourself without the help of the tech team.
• The appearance is user friendly, and there is online training to onboard new staff to the software.
• It's old & clunky with attempts to modernise its appearance & features.
• The search uses boolean so consultants require training to know how to search, build lists & find candidates & contacts. E.g., you write 'Bob' into search, & it won't appear but you'll add an asterisk & it will appear. If you had 'Bob Jane' in the first name, it also won't appear.
• The filters don't work correctly. E.g., we have 'DPA' & 'Non DPA' - BH did not have the ability to differentiate between the two using the filter, because they both said 'DPA'. We had to either change the terminology (which is industry standard in the medical field) or use the advanced search rather than the filters.
• The updating of the custom fields is clunky & not intuitive. Adding in multiple job types was limited to 3 (i.e. salary, contract & temp - we have additional types) and each one required individual customizing (fair) which then played havoc if it didn't match up to the master file which overrode the other 3. E.g., ALL custom fields were required on the master, and then you'll match up each in the individual job type as required. You'd then just include what was required in the individual job type.
• The migration from our old CRM was poor. One example - We ended up with thousands of files that were 'New South Wales' which got turned into 'New South Western Australiales.' We were refused assistance in fixing this.
• It's slow to load.
• Clear your cache daily - or things will break.
• No ability to add locations to a profile - you need to add each individual child company for it to appear in a search even when there is only one contact for the lot. For example, one of our clients has 176 medical practices and for these to appear in any searches, they had to be individually added as full profiles rather than added in as a location despite there being one recruitment contact.
I cannot suggest any company should use this system for any other reason than a learning experience - my 12 months on the platform identified what I did and didn't want in my next ATS.

We use Bullhorn ATS & CRM to store all of our information on our candidates and clients. We use it to bulk email and market jobs.
• Good integration options with a number of 3rd party programs. We use Vonage and it is honestly really great to integrate into Bullhorn.
• It works most of the time and the phone app for it is particularly good.
• Bullhorn Customer Support is the absolute worst I've ever worked with.
• Absolutely no advanced training to help set up your dashboards or any advanced functionality. You either need to have a programmer on staff to work on it or pay Bullhorn to help you set up any of the more advanced capabilities that it has. You had better like it out of the box otherwise it's going to cost you.
I called and asked for training on setting up my dashboards to actually help us utilize workflow and track candidates through the process, and they sent me to their website to watch training videos. The videos don't help at all with anything more advanced, so we are going to have to pay more on top to get their team to set it up for us.

We also didn't know that if we wanted to send emails to our customers and candidates through the system, we would have to send one at a time. This absolutely DESTROYED our email credibility with email service providers and ISP's because if we wanted to send a job to 100 of our candidates to see if anyone might be interested in the job, it BCC's everyone instead of sending each individual an email.

Bullhorn was used to keep track of all of our candidates and prospects. It was used by both sales and recruiters. I would say that it helps recruiters a lot more than it helps sales. A lot of the info wouldn't cross over into areas it should have. It didn't provide enough options for the sales side of things. It wasn't clear who was a prospect and who was a candidate.
• Filtering candidates
• Tracking candidates and updating their status
• The UI is cluttered and could be cleaned up
• Can't combine duplicates
• Not enough customization options
• Glitches often
I believe this is well suited for recruiters only. If you're using this at a recruitment firm and are business development, you're going to have to get creative on how to best keep up and log your contacts. There needs to be a Bullhorn Sales area.

We selected Bullhorn as an upgrade from our prior ATS, Birddog. Having used it before, I was excited for the upgrade, or so I thought. Bullhorn is not great for non-agency recruiting. The big sell was all the customization....they neglect to tell you about training and that you do it all and have no idea how. They said their customer support is amazing, which it is in theory but I unfortunately used it multiple times a day and the answers would often counter prior answers.
• Willing to help - Many offered help.
• Sending mass emails - great for email blasts to contacts.
• Organizing candidates - multiple distribution lists and filters available.
• Corporate recruiting - nothing supports a simple non-agency option for open jobs.
• Currency - have currency options available by country vs as a customization.
• Run through prior to launch - Customize with clients, don't just provide support once it is done incorrectly.
If you are a corporate recruiter - run. When it had broadbean it had better functionality, but to even post a job on your site it has to be customized so much, it's a nightmare.

We were told when we were pricing Bullhorn "Prior to any contract signature, we’d evaluate your database and let you know if any of the fields you currently have would not be brought over via the free migration tool. If we find any fields, we will have a separate conversation on how to get that data into Bullhorn." Yea, that didn't happen and 8 months later we discovered 80K+ records "orphaned" in our database because Bullhorn didn't data map our records from SendOuts, the provider we previously used and that Bullhorn owns. When we called about why this wasn't done, we got the total runaround for almost three hours of the phone being told "I'll have to check your statement of work", "You have to pay extra for that", and finally "I'll call you back", which they didn't and have never done.

I told our account manager what happened and there was NO WAY we were renewing, because Bullhorn failed to hold up their promises from Day 1 and his response was "Please let me know who from our team informed you of the missing records."

So, our data conversion is still not complete, we are currently charged every month for 10 extra licenses that we don't use and that Bullhorn does not provide but will not stop charging us for, our company credit card has been charged twice without our authorization AND our Sales Admin is on the phone 2-3 times a week with Bullhorn Support trying to find missing data or correct a report for at least an hour every call (yesterday was three hours, we're lucky she doesn't quit us with the hassle Bullhorn puts her through). Bullhorn has been the worst vendor experience of my professional life. I have been audited by the IRS and it was easier than dealing with Bullhorn. I expect it will cost us $5-10K to restore the records if we leave IF we get all of our data back from Bullhorn.

And the reporting, the biggest reason we left SendOuts for Bullhorn was advance reporting functionality. Bullhorn's dashboards don't work (does that cost extra too?), you'll have to run 3-5 different reports to get your team's activities and check Bullhorn against their own records as client interviews and candidate prescreens will just disappear. So we have to pay for an additional software, InsightSquared, to sit on top of Bullhorn and provide those dashboards and activity metrics for another $50 a person per month, just to get what we were promised with Bullhorn. Total waste of time and money and a huge regret.

• It's pretty
• Boolean searchable
• Drag & drop module formatting
• Very slow, freezes up multiple time a day.
• Horrible, horrible service. You will not get called back, you'll be on the phone with them for hours getting transferred or asked repeatedly what you are talking about, even while they are remotely linked in and SEEING WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ON THE SCREEN.
• Overpromised & underdelivered. You will need to personally check to make sure they do everything they say they will and get everything in writing.
• Overpriced and you cannot flex users down. Once you add a user, you pay for them for the rest of the contract term, whether you use that license or not.
• Ineffectual training. You'll get a basic overview, but there are no advanced user videos, user guide or tutorials. If you want Best Practices training, you have to pay for it and I won't since the quality of the service we've received so far has been so low, why would I trust Bullhorn with more?
• Dashboards do not work. There is no training to set up your dashboards, so best of luck to you!
• Reporting is clunky, you'll need to run 3-5 reports to track activity (we track 6 things and have to run 3 different reports) and interviews and candidate prescreens disappear randomly.
• You cannot trust the database when stuff just doesn't show up.
• You will hear from your sales rep ONLY about selling to you. There is no single point of contact to take care of your problems, you get who you get when you call into support, so you will be having to reexplain the situation over and over and over again.
• Support team does not care if they fix your problem. They just want you off the phone.
I would never recommend Bullhorn. I would recommend SendOuts if it was still supported. We will likely move to JobScience.

Bullhorn ATS is our main recruiting tool. We use it to keep track of all our day-to-day activity and it also acts as a CRM. Therefore, a lot of our email communication happens via Bullhorn, including client contact, candidate updates and booking interviews etc.
• Cloud system easily accessible
• Quick search facility (to find specific candidates and client contacts)
• Good reporting / analytics features
• Support generally answer the phone quite quickly and are always polite and firendly
• Some key areas of the system are not customizable, including some very basic functions that you would expect to be. The amount of times we are told by support, "this is the default method and it cannot be changed" is quite disappointing.
• The layout / workflow in vacancies is poor and not easy to see where you are at with each vacancy.
• The LinkedIn integration does not work very well. It does not actually cross-reference profiles in LinkedIn & Bullhorn unless a certain link is clicked in every single candidate (even if the email address matches the one in the profile's Linkedin account), so this renders the LinkedIn integration ineffective in many cases. Furthermore, the LinkedIn team information area (aka 'Team activities') in each candidate profile does not populate properly, with information missing or strange text appearing. All in all, it's a poor API.
• The process for booking interviews is arduous. For example, when in a candidate profile and trying to make an appointment for an interview, it does not populate fields you would expect it to. You even have to find/enter the candidate as an attendee when you're already in that candidate profile! (Sending out vacancy details to candidates is just as clunky. Even from within a vacancy you have to search from within all vacancy documents to find the job spec document that you want to send).
• The email editor is shockingly bad. It's all too easy to end up sending out client or candidate emails with mixed-up fonts, because in the editor you cannot see what's going on. Also, when adding candidate notes, it does not keep the formatting such as paragraphs, so you end up with notes that don't read particularly well.
• The 'standard resume' templates are not great and the formatting of CVs can end up looking a bit unprofessional. You are only allowed 2 templates, which is not much good if you have clients that require you to use their own front sheets. We now do all of our CV formatting outside of Bullhorn and then import the finished files into the candidate profile.
I'm not at all convinced it's the best tool out there for an executive search agency. Ostensibly it looks like it will have everything you'd need, but having used it for 4 months the reality is quite different. I would recommend a lengthy testing period (although the test system is limited in what you can actually do). It might be a good system for temp agencies in the U.S., as it's quite 'U.S. centric'.

We used Bullhorn as our ATS for our staffing business. We used it to track clients, candidates, and jobs. We used it as a CRM as well as to track candidates through the hiring process with our clients. We also used it as a candidate database. Additionally, jobs from Bullhorn were promoted to our website for posting. It was utilized by our entire company, and helped us understand where candidates were in the recruiting workflow as well as how much revenue and margin we were generating. I have not used iCIMS as an ATS, but I have now used Bullhorn, WinSearch, PC Recruiter, and JobScience. Bullhorn is only better than PC Recruiter, in my opinion.
• Bullhorn does a good job of including all information that might be relevant. It has a ton of fields and the ability to customize those fields to make sure all data you need is being captured.
• Bullhorn does a good job of reducing clicks. Most of the information you will need on a given item (candidate, job, client, etc) will be contained within one page.
• Bullhorn did a pretty good job of integrating with other job posting sites - Bullhorn Reach is a nice product, for example.
• The biggest area for improvement was in candidate searching. It was very difficult to create effective searches to mine the Bullhorn database for candidates. Results were not organized in a way that was easy to navigate. I ran searches that did NOT turn up candidate resumes which I knew to contain the key words I used in the search.
• One of the strengths is also a weakness: Sometimes there is too much data in one page. You would have to scroll down many times to get through all the data contained for a particular record. Sometimes reducing clicks isn't the only goal.
• Bullhorn's uptime, at the time I used it, was not good. We had a terrible time with data loss and with the system simply being down at times.
Bullhorn is a solid, middle of the road ATS, in my opinion. It does some things decently, but nothing great. We switched from Bullhorn to MaxHire, and were instantly amazed at the difference. I have since left that company and use PCRecruiter and JobScience at my current company. In my opinion, for the staffing industry, JobScience is the best ATS I have used. It's integration with Outlook is smooth and functional, the candidate records are easy to navigate, the mobile experience is solid and useful. And perhaps best of all, JobScience is the most flexible and customizable ATS I have used. You can make it do exactly what you want, and the reporting functionality is best in class as well.
