Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

I have used Survey Monkey in the past and the two products really don't even compare. Qualtrics offers so much more and is a far more robust tool.

In all the other products that we have used, the vendor seemed to nickle-and-dime us for EVERY change, sometimes just changing a punctuation mark would generate a bill, with Qualtrics, everything was included, their licensing model is so straightforward, you pretty much pay for what you think you will use, and if you are going to use more, you can expand that before you "run out". Qualtrics has the easiest to use interface, the best model for survey translations, and the API integration that allowed us to write our own software to integrate the survey sending and result retrieval into our own data-systems.

The previous software we used was SurveyMonkey. They are a perfectly good survey development software, but they have limitations in the complexity of the coding. We made the switch to Qualtrics as our online survey needs became more advanced than what SurveyMonkey had to offer.

Vision Critical is known as a great panel management firm, but I was underwhelmed with their tool itself. Deployments were complicated, surveys required almost basic programming knowledge, and my team struggled with their reporting tool.

Confirmit could do everything we wanted in terms of features, but it too required specialized expertise, far more training, etc.

Simpler tools like SurveyMonkey, NetReflector, Survey Gizmo, etc. just didn't have the question types, advanced logic, quota management, email tools, etc. that Qualtrics and the above tools do.

In the end, Qualtrics was a nice middle ground. It was way easier to learn and use than the high end tools and provided all the functionality of the high end tools. It had a middle ground price as well that seemed very reasonable. They also seemed very willing to take my feedback and suggestions seriously.

I have used SurveyMonkey in the past along with other products from smaller startups. I think Qualtrics is better thought out and the support is quite good. I think it is a product that works well. I would only caution that I use this since I have access to a site-wide license and if you need to buy it, it might be expensive.

  • SurveyMonkey,home grown
While we looked at a number of systems, the primary comparable systems were Survey Monkey and a home grown system and the survey options in our learning management system. Survey monkey is wonderfully user friendly but did not allow for an enterprise level of account administration and the use of our campus authentication and identity management. Our home-grown system was very limited in the question types and had virtually no reporting options. The survey tool in the LMS was limited in structure and the type of data that was extractable. It also required a login for response. We needed something that could be accessed both via authentication and without it.

Qualtrics offered more advanced survey creation tools like conjoints and branching. Qualtrics also has a breadth of other tools to make the survey process more intuitive and well rounded like such products as Site Intercept and Qualtrics 360. Also, their customer service has been nothing short of amazing.

Qualtrics is very powerful yet it is not intimidating to the user. Plus, over the years, we developed a very nice relationship with the company and they have always very receptive to our requests.

Their customer service is responsive and we fell that every year, they add new features and polish the interface to make it even more usable than what it already is.

I have used survey monkey in the past but have found it unprofessional.

I have used comScore products as well mostly because they have a larger panel which is important when target audiences are super niche.

You didn't have the platform that I have used in the list of options - JotForm.com. I personally prefer JotForm over Qualtrics. I think it is easier to use, looks more visually appealing, and requires less technical support for HTML-related issues. It is also much easier to run reports and has quite few widgets to choose from to enhance the form.

Qualtrics is better than Survey Monkey, Quask, and REDCap. But it is not HIPAA compliant so we cannot use it for personal/sensitive variables (names, addresses, disease information, medical record numbers), so we have to use REDCap. But if it was HIPAA compliant, I would use Qualtrics hands down.

I was not involved in the selection of this product, so I did not get to evaluate any of the competitor systems. I have not used any others in the past, so I can only rate my experience of Qualtrics as I would have expected it, not how it ranked against another system.
