What is Sage Intacct?

Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial accounting software system with functionalities for small to mid-sized businesses. Sage Intacct delivers an array of core accounting applications such as a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management to any accounting department or finance team. It also supports functionality for built-in dashboards, real time reporting, time and expense management, project accounting, revenue management, and global consolidations for multiple entities.

With an open API structure, Sage Intacct’s accounting solution also provides integration with any CRM, payroll, POS, or ERP system such as Salesforce, and ADP.

We use Sage Intacct for all Finance related activities.

Sage Intacct addresses outdated reporting, streamlines our brands AP/AR processes and allows for easy transactional feeds from our front-end system ServiceTitan.
  • Top level roll ups from other entities in the system. We have a lot of brands, being able to easily roll that up into top level is a plus.
  • Streamlines AP / AR transactions data from ServiceTitan.
  • Offers a wide variety of modules to use, that connect with most front-end systems.
  • Most everything is configurable, and can be adjusted to your business needs.
  • AP processing time.
  • Financial Reporting processing time.
  • Construction Module has too many clicks to set up a job from start to finish.
Sage Intacct is best suited for companies who are small-mid sized. The fact it is cloud based makes it easier to work out of, and easier to connect from anywhere in the world.

As a company gets bigger, it can outgrow the capabilities of Sage Intacct. But, I know this is something Sage is working on; always evolving.

Sage Intacct is our only accounting software. We use it to record, track and report all revenues and expenses. It allows users to run their own reports at their own time without the need for the finance department to generate reports.
  • Dimension setup.
  • Capability to restrict/modify access based on need.
  • More affordable compared to the other software we considered.
  • Cloud based.
  • Would like to restrict the drill down access on specific line items.
  • Bring more modules into the standard pricing.
  • Report writing is still too technical for the average user.
This is the best software for nonprofit organizations needing to track report on restricted grants. The project dimension allows us to run reports for donors seamlessly. Our non-financial staff members have access to the data and are able to generate their own reports. They can track actual expenses vs budget.

Ever since the ADCS era till now, I have been using Sage Intacct nearly on a daily basis. It has been seamless and rapid for me to carry out accounting procedures such as recurring billing, AP, and AR through automation which gets enhanced by Sage Intacct.

  • Eradicate manual processes by automating over 85% of accounting activities from AP, and AR to recurring billing.
  • Import and export data as CSV files.

  • Unavailability of offline access mode is one of the issues.
  • Doesn’t have a Chrome extension.
Before approving vendor payments, Sage Intacct helps me match invoices with POS and receivables to ensure there are no discrepancies.

I use Sage Intacct for all financial aspects for our company. Specifically, AP, AR and reporting. The business problems our company faces on a day to day are ensuring accurate financials and automating reports and Intacct addresses these issues by allowing creation of reports out of the box and these custom reports allow for review of ensuring the financials are accurate.

  • Allowing AP Automation as an out-of-box feature.

Sage Intacct is suited well for all companies with the general accounting needs and it is less appropriate when trying to tailor specifically to the industry and what the company needs to use the system for.

Multi-entity accounting across many parishes and schools.

  • Easier data entry for budgeting other than using an import feature.
I love being able to have all my entities in one place and being able to combine different information for all or some of my entities but it is so very complicated to create a report. I do not like that a small change in one report feature (such as change in time periods) can only be accomplished by creating a whole new report.

Sage Intacct works great for multi-entity consolidations. I have a client that has four entities but two of the four need consolidated reporting. We are able to create location groups to consolidate just the two but still have the option to consolidate all four entities to see how they are doing as a whole. The reporting feature based on dimension groups and structures also gives the user the ability to pull reports based on what they want to see instead of basing it off Account Groups and Date columns.

We currently use it to process our payments and keep our Journal entries clean and clear. The system keeps us in track ensuring that we are constantly balancing and helping us creat reports to better manage our other departments.

  • A cash receipt report or CRJ that ties to my daily bank activity when transaction adjustment for a fee (i.e., credit card fee).
  • Editable reporting to eliminate or adjust fields so things fit appropriately.
  • Make custom reporting more user-friendly. Too many options. Fields available that don’t pull data. We were sold on an amazing custom reporting system, and we avoid it as much as possible because it’s not easy to use.
In my opinion, we were sold a different product than what we received. In my opinion, it does not offer the functionality and ease we were told it did. We came from an older Sage product (Sage 100), and there are several functions that 100 had that Sage Intacct does not. I feel that many of our processes have lengthened in time due to having to take extra steps to get to the end results.

We are an aggregator of companies, we integrate those companies onto Sage Intacct within 1-3 months of acquisition. Primarily moving them off of QuickBooks. Doing this allows for consolidated business reporting, transitioning to Intacct is generally a painless process, training and full integration process only takes 30-60 days.
  • Easy user platform, training someone on AP and AR modules generally only takes a couple of hours.
  • Custom reporting allows us to build reports to fit managements needs without the need to hire or pay for consulting and report building.
  • Cloud based user access, access Intacct anywhere.
  • AP module is very slow.
  • Error messages are not clear on what issues are.
  • 25,000 row reporting limits.
Integration with ServiceTitan is very streamlined. Ease of use allows for quick training for new employees. Integrating a company is easy when compared to other financial systems such as Oracle.

I use this for everyday operations. Grant management, pos, requisitions, bank recs, we use bill.com for Ap and divvy for cc, our only issue would be with the implementation that jmt did for us. It was done very poorly and has caused us so many problems. We found another implementation company to consult with to help rectify the issues created by jmt. I think that Intacct has so much customization that if in the hands of and uneducated user can really mess things up. I think the system requires a consultant to get the most out of it.

I use Sage Intacct to manage the general ledger. I create journal entries, import journal entries, run trial balances, and send reports to managers based on programs or members, which we list as dimensions. Soon to be more involved with AP. I may get involved with budgets in the future. I will be involved in creating reports and dashboards.
  • Import function of large journal entries works pretty well
  • Easy to understand error messages
  • We can cut and dice our results well using the dimensions
  • I have to spend a good amount of time going into scheduled reports individually to change the subject, date, etc. I would like to make the change once and impact an entire group of scheduled reports. Maybe be able to control the time of day the reports go out instead of when they do go out now.
Sage Intacct was already used when I arrived at HOPE worldwide, but I have experience working with multiple accounting software packages. Some of these I implemented. This one, by far, comes the closest to meeting the needs of our organization. Other systems make you use a long chart of accounts with multiple segments to slice the data. The use of dimensions seems to work better.

We use Sage Intacct for general ledger and financial reporting. We have added fixed assets and prepaid modules. We are looking to add planning and payroll. Intacct has increased our reporting capabilities tremendously. It has also streamlined our monthly close. Fixed assets has not been an easy module to implement and is clunky to work with.

  • Automated entry of invoices into purchasing would be helpful.

Used for basic general ledger capabilities and enhanced reporting. The dimensions are of high importance to us as an organization and are the largest used functionality of the platform. We manage divisions and service types individually, so the use of multiple dimensions is vital to our reporting capabilities and has greatly increased what the accounting team is able to provide to senior leadership.

We use Sage Intacct as our core accounting and general ledger system. We handle invoicing, accounts receivables, payables, prepaid, and fixed assets, in addition to core bookkeeping and reporting. We use Sage Intacct to help us scale the business, utilizing several integrations to support our needs, including Stripe and ADP payroll, and Avalara.
