As a specialty contractor, we utilize Procore on all of our large commercial jobs. With multiple projects going on at once, we are able to easily manage the day-to-day activities from one vantage point. Our field team is able to easily access any pertinent contract documents to ensure the job is built as desired. This product truly is a one-stop solution.
  • Drawing Management
  • Submittal Organization
  • Meetings - Does not always format the way I need it to.
  • Drawing Markup - This is not as seamless as it could be.
The Project Management tools in Procore would be an easy recommendation. These are core tools, as a project manager, that we use every day. The construction financials package may be less desirable as a specialty contractor. Most times, we are using Procore through another company for any billing needs. Without a connection to our current accounting software, it really is of no use to us.

We are using Procore to hold our contract drawings. Our projects are commercial concrete construction projects. Procore helps us make sure our team is only using the most up-to-date drawings available on a project.
  • Procore can easily identify the labels on the drawings
  • It is easy to share drawings with vendors
  • There is no ability to print drawings inside Procore. This is problematic because the whole idea of using Procore is to avoid using space on our server. In order to print a drawing it must first be downloaded. This defeats the purpose of using Procore. Once a drawing is downloaded one must delete the drawings or organize the download.... we are trying to avoid these steps.
  • Our customers use Procore and share their drawings with our organization. Once we have access, we need to be able to share the drawings with our vendors. Keep in mind, our vendors do not have access (and should not have access) to our customer's Procore account. That being said, we have to download the drawings and then re-upload, and label the drawings in order to share them. It would be most helpful if we can take a mirror image of the customer's set and duplicate them in our company Procore account without the need to download and re-upload and relabel. Transferring a copy of the drawing set from our customer's account to our Procore account would be key to fixing this issue.
Procore is great for teams that don't meet regularly. For example, using Procore allows our field men to remain in the field. No one has to deliver current drawing sets to the field.

Procore has been a great asset to our company in general construction, design-build, and construction management. It helps with project start up all the way to closeout. Submittals have never been so easy! Our clients that use it really appreciate having a hands on approach to what we are doing. They feel connected to the project and engaged with what we are doing on the back end to being the overall project to completion.
  • Submittals
  • Punch List
  • Change Orders
  • Pre Bid RFI
  • Bidding
Great for dealing with sub contractors. Not so great for use when working for an AE that does not want to use the system. Getting buy in from the clients and other project team members is necessary. On a DB project you can make that happen contractually, on a GC project it just takes work..

Procore Pros and Cons

My company uses Procore to keep track of job progress. At the professional level we upload our drawings and submittals. We give all of our mechanical insulation installers tablets to use in the field so they can mark their day-to-day progress. For example, on a drawing with heat pipe they can scribble a line over the piping that is insulated.

If they have questions about certain areas, they take a picture and upload a photo and put the "ball in court" for one of our project managers to take a look at and get then an answer.
  • Access to Drawings
  • Access to Specs/Submittals
  • Some changes can only be made on a computer and not a mobile device
  • Difficult to teach the older generation of workers how to use
Procore is well suited for projects that have drawings readily available. For all plan and spec work, Procore is great. A lot of my job consists of walkthroughs where I physically take down notes on the project. We do NOT upload these projects to Procore unless the drawings are available.

The initial setup for a project is tedious and somewhat time consuming, but pays off for larger projects in terms of information sharing and access.

My company uses Procore almost in every department from financial to project managing. We can rely on Procore to have better organization and control over every aspect of a project, we can control access to every project and it is easy to view the progress on every single project.
  • Easy access to projects.
  • Easy to personalize according with different needs.
  • Once you learn how to use Procore you can really enjoy it and take advantage of it.
  • Customer support.
  • Sometimes is very hard to have good support and when you contact them they all have a different answer for me, so that is confusing.
  • Create a different program for small companies to make it easy on personnel to grow and expand.
I believe Procore was created for big companies that are already established and not for small companies like ours.

Better clarity on the activities, documentation and critical information associated with our projects, which number in the hundreds. Procore allows us to easily collaborate with our employees, outside members, other consultants, our clients, etc. Perhaps most importantly, Procore enables us to better serve our clients by keeping critical project information together in a trusted system. It has even enabled us to compete with much larger firms by showcasing the quality of work produced.
  • Field communication is made easier (with the right workforce)
  • Drawings and their markups are more accessible
  • Forms can be used to get safety logs done quicker after the initial phase of showing/teaching employees how to use and navigate
  • Customer support did not help with new features being released
  • Many things that were talked about in the initial demo were not quite what they were made out to be
  • Hard to use with our accounting system ComputerEase
Procore is great with a technology-savvy workforce. Employees need to be quick learners or already use technology on a daily basis to be able to learn the ins and outs of Procore. One of the main issues we had with Procore was getting it to talk back and forth for time-keeping with our accounting system ComputerEase.

I am currently using Procore to manage the design, manufacture and installation of systems mainly used in the food an beverage industry to process their products.
  • Communicate with sub contractors
  • Upload drawings for customer review
  • The notification system is not efficient.
  • It needs to be easier to alert others to changes.
Procore works well when there is a small amount of sub contractors. When there are a lot of sub contractors it becomes difficult to manage the alerts and notifications.

We are an integrator for conveyor systems. Procore is used for project management of installations.
  • Captures photos
  • Captures notes
  • Dictates daily log
  • Email
  • We need to get tablets for field use, not a Procore problem.
The basic set up is for building/construction. We use it for a different industry. Many terms don't apply.

Wolf Construction Services has utilized Procore over the past four years to increase productivity and communication from our office staff to our field operatives. Procore allows us to share updated plans and documents in all 5 states with the click of a button. Wolf's projects range from a multi-building apartment complex (500,000 sq. ft) to a small dentist office (8,000 sq. ft). Our field staff take advantage of all the Project tools Procore offers. Procore has allowed us to track progress through daily log entries, create comprehensive punch lists, and track safety inspections for each of our projects. Wolf continues to incorporate more functions of Procore each year and actively encourages our clients to invest if they have not already.
  • Daily log tool. This tool allows each one of our foremen to document critical conversations with our GC's, as well as other trades. In addition, PM's and Superintendents have the ability to monitor the progress of multiple projects from the comfort of their desks.
  • Inspections. If you want to FINISH a job, and I mean actually finish a job this tool is remarkable. From pre-construction inspection checklists to unit inspections. You have the opportunity to document when the inspection was created to when the inspection item was completed. Very beneficial when we do 100-300 unit projects.
  • Currently...nothing.
Procore is well suited for the construction industry. Multiple trades sharing information from different sources to build one structure. Procore provides a communication platform to keep everyone involved in the process up to date on all relevant information trading hands. You never know how a siding detail can effect the position of a window/door unless someone asks the question.

We are using Procore to help manage civil and state projects as well as our service jobs. We utilize Procore to manage our bigger multi-million dollar projects as well as our smaller service plumbing jobs. Procore helps the company keep all our information centrally located and easily accessible from either in the office or out in the field. Before we were using various software for our daily logs (Raken) and various other software for project management. Procore has given us the ability to do everything we were doing before but from one centralized platform, making it easier to keep track of our projects.
  • Streamlined our transmittal and submittals process.
  • Documents tool has been especially handy being able to keep all our documentation in one location that is accessible from either PC or mobile pretty much anywhere you have an internet connection.
  • The Procore Sync tool is very handy, but it seems to be very buggy. We have had numerous issues with someone uploading documents to Procore Sync and other users not being able to see the uploaded documents right away. We sometimes have to go through a cumbersome process of going to the job, configuring settings, updating settings. And having to do this on both the uploader and receivers side. Hoping to see some improvement here on this issue in the near future.
  • When adding new users to a project, it sometimes takes 5-10 minutes (sometimes a bit longer) for the project to show up inside the user's Procore app on their iPad. It gets annoying when I am trying to add a new user and give them a briefing of how the app works and operates. I often have to have them sit in my office for 10 minutes constantly refreshing the app until the job appears.
Procore is great for keeping all areas of the construction process updated from within the office to the field. It's great for general contractors as well as subcontractors. You can easily add other companies to your projects without them necessarily needing a license for Procore themselves. It also integrates with our accounting software (Sage 100) which has been a big helper. I think Procore is great for mid-sized companies that handle a lot of really large projects.

The type of projects that I use Procore for are structural construction, mainly for commercial structures and sometimes large residences. The main problem that Procore has helped us address is that it has united most of our data in one location and we do not need to rely on different software/programs to do the job. When you have that, everything flows more smoothly.
  • Connects your drawings to their respective details.
  • Keeps records of older plans or revisions and one can compare them to the new ones.
  • When you tag a section cut on plans to the page of the section cut, it would help if when you select that tag the page that you are directed to is zoomed in on the exact section cut that you are looking for, because some pages have multiple section cuts.
  • Sometimes we have tag many documents that pertain to one page in the plans and that can get chaotic. it would help if there was a drop-down to one of the sides of the page that had all the documents that can be attached to it.
Procore is well suited for keeping all your data in one place, as well as keeping a good record of all of it.

Managing large scale solar installation projects. Document management and field reports are what we use Procore for most daily. It helps us provide consistent information to our team and subcontractors.
  • Document management.
  • Workflow.
  • Daily logs and reporting.
  • Customization.
  • Unable to edit daily log template.
  • Schedule integration.
  • Quickbooks integration doesn't 'flow' both ways.
Field staff utilize the photos section and plan mark-ups and find it easy and quick on tablets or phones.

We were not sure what to use for internal document reviews, such as PO requests or subcontract revisions. The Submittals tool works, but it's clunky to have to download, then we have to upload to create a commitment once the PO has been approved.

Managing multiple large structural projects with Procore, having the ability to keep everything from daily reports, safety documents, RFIs, submittals, and drawings all in one place helps create efficiencies between the field team and the office/management side. The ability to send out any changes or "quick reaction tasks" immediately allows us to avoid the long paper trail and time-wasting communication.
  • Tagging RFIs/Submittals/Changes to the drawing pages so they can be easily seen and accessed by field personnel
  • Ability to upload photos directly to plan location
  • Syncing with existing accounting programs to automatically update project budgets
  • Customer support, instant help from Procore team
  • Procore does not talk to Procore! If another Contractor on the same project has their own procore account, information cannot be shared easily between the two accounts
  • Schedule module is not easily manipulated or changed
Well-suited when you need instant collaboration between field personnel, management teams, design teams, and even the accounting side to all have access to the information in a timely manner.

We use it as a cloud platform to save/access drawings, photos, RFI's, submittals, documents, punchlists and daily reports.
  • Well organized
  • Ease of use & navigation. Ability to search for items, photos, etc.
  • Drawing coordination, links to RFIs and other documents
  • Submittal & RFI flow process
  • Uploading of photos seems to take forever.
  • Ability to manage drawings once published can be difficult.
  • No ability to cross-connect our Procore platform/projects with general contractors who also use Procore, which requires double-duty on administrative end.
It works well if your staff buys into the process and is properly trained and uses it frequently. If they only use it once a week or so, then it can be cumbersome and intimidating to some guys in the field. The ability to "talk" into the tablet or phone app to fill out daily reports is very handy, as is the punchlist app and other tools that are commonly used in the field by staff that can't type well on tiny keyboards.

Command Mechanical Group uses Procore every day. Procore seems to be built for general contractors to manage their subcontractors. There can be difficulties with this because we are a subcontractor that needs to manage from the bottom and up, but we have figured out some tricks that allow our large projects to be managed well, including projects with a lot of equipment purchased, man power, and cost tracking. Procore allows me to see the hours I've used against the hours I've estimated, as well as the cost. It helps with future projects to know where my field workers start to slow down, what things take more time. Now, I can effectively manage the cost by just looking at the information I've entered all together in the Prime Contract and Budget.
  • Document AIA Form G702-703 is automatically generated after you've created your Prime Contract. I've struggled with these pay application documents before using Procore and now it is so easy to bill my clients and track efficiently.
  • Procore Mobile App: I love that my field workers and mobile office employees can get important information in a few clicks of a button. The field workers quickly enter their hours on the job site, which makes it very easy to do payroll too.
  • Cost Code Customization: It is so nice to be able to change your created cost code per project. I am able to customize the cost codes for a project's specific needs and change the number and name in my budgets and pay applications that I give my customers.
  • Change Orders are a nightmare to enter. As a subcontractor, we usually request a change through an RFI or are told something is being changed, and it is as simple as that. When I need to enter these changes in Procore, I have to first create a Changed Event, turn it into a Potential Change Order and finally approve it as an actual Change Order. This is a time-consuming process that is very hair-pulling. Now if I'm missing something or the Change Order needs to be changed without creating a whole revision process, I have to un-approve and go back 3 steps in order to edit or change any small details.
  • Reports: I understand you can create your own, which is fantastic, but it is time-consuming and not always what you want. I think there should be more reports that are already created for you and more options for columns and information when building your own reports.
  • Our vendors and clients who do not use Procore complain about the email setting. We all wish when an email is sent from Procore it would look less like an ad or junk mail. Emails and important information are getting missed because of this. We would like to see a normal standard email format.
Procore is fantastic for General Contractors and upper-tier contractors. I would not recommend vendors or bottom-tier subcontractors use this program.

Mainly the Project Management and Engineering Departments use Procore. It helps us keep on top of submittals from the draft stage to the approval stage. It allows us to address the issue of not being able to keep track of which submittals need to approved, submittals that need to be sent for approval, and submittals that need to be revised and resubmitted. All these can be kept in a single place where they are easy to view and edit.
  • Revising and editing submittals.
  • Tracking projects.
  • RFIs.
  • Submittal log.
  • Would be nice if it was easier to upload documents.
Procore is very useful when dealing with the overall submittal process and sending documents to general contractors, project managers, etc.

We use Procore to share real-time information with our employees. Communicating what was done in the field, what changes were made to the design when confronted with obstacles on-site, and ensuring that all stakeholders have equal access to the latest information enables us to save time.
  • Communication between stakeholders.
  • Repository for information.
  • Real-time updates.
  • Difficult to download drawing packages. An email with a link is sent then you have to open that.
Procore is an excellent choice for enabling communication between stakeholders on construction, installations, renovations, or similar projects. When the techs in the field can let the owner know they ran into an issue and get a response for how the owner wants it handled almost immediately, that keeps everyone on time.

We are currently using Procore to manage daily logs for all employees, as well as creating tasks, to cut out daily calls between supervisors and laborers. It has so far saved the laborers trips to the office to deliver their timesheets, thus giving them more time at the job sites. It also has mapped out all of our current projects, and makes it easier to find and navigate through each project.
  • The Executive Dashboard gives you a detailed look at how quickly the laborers are completing jobs, and insights into what can be improved in efficiency.
  • The Drawings Tool is versatile, making it easy to pinpoint specific RFIs, and what they pertain to within a building.
  • Having the Company Directory has already been really helpful for every laborer if they need to get in contact with one another.
  • A comprehensive Scheduling Tool that can group all projects would be helpful.
  • A list of laborers that aren't on any job, that we can use to place them at a new project.
  • It would be beneficial to have a dashboard with all tasks, rather than having to go into each project to view.
It is best-suited for a company with many ongoing projects at once and a sizable number of employees. It is not suitable for those trying to use it as a scheduling tool.

We are using it as our main Project Management platform. We manage all of our submittals, drawings, project documentation, document storage, time-keeping and cost coding, photos, and other items. It helps us to maintain current construction documentation, which has become a challenge in this ever faster-moving industry where changes are happening all the time, it enables our field to have the most updated information at their hands.
  • RFI and Submittal Modules help us manage all the work flow.
  • Drawing Updates are very easy to roll out to our entire team.
  • Photos and Project Documentation are instantly available to the entire team.
  • Timesheet tool entry - issues with duplicate users and data entry.
  • Having project info from one company's Procore communicate with another company's Procore is an issue (we have many of our clients who use it too).
  • There is no auto alert when a software update comes out.
It's well suited for a tech-savvy client who has multiple users that are not all working in the same location. Product is maximized when tablets and computers are both used by users. Projects with lots of changes and critical documentation flow are ideal for Procore use. Less appropriate when you have smaller project with less formal documentation needs, the value is not there.

It's mainly being used by our project managers, superintendents, and field staff to share/store information for all of our projects.
  • Shares drawings across all our devices for use in the office and the field.
  • Captures and stores project-related pictures from the field.
  • Contains project information in one spot that can be accessed by the whole project team.
  • Procore doesn't seem to integrate well with Sage 300 CRE. There is a lot of issues getting things to sync between the programs. Revenue Recognition would be huge but doesn't give us the ability at the moment.
  • Scheduling integration is poor. As a Subcontractor, I don't need to use the full MS Project product, but Procore doesn't have a simple Gantt chart to use that rolls up into a company-wide schedule so we're forced to use MS Project and pay for licenses.
  • They miss the mark on their "Tasks" tool. It's been brought up many times in their "Request an Idea" forum that companies need the ability to prepopulate tasks that are done on each project, so they don’t have to be entered for each project manually, but there isn’t the functionality to do that. Also, it can't mass-import them either.
  • Really lacking on the accounting end. It almost doesn't make sense to use the ERP Integrations as it only provides up-to-date budget information. I can make my pay apps out of Procore, but they still need to be manually entered in Sage.
  • Data analysis is lacking. It has some dashboard reporting but if you link a decent amount of data, it bogs down hard and eventually doesn’t load. With the lack of accounting information being pulled into the system, there isn’t a good way to get dashboard reporting on financials like some competitors that have the full suite of PM, Accounting software, etc.
  • Very overpriced for a simple project management solution. Could have a cheaper version for subcontractors since we don’t need a lot of the tools.
  • Currently no integration with other companies that use Procore. It can be confusing switching between Procore accounts and requires duplicate entry in each system if the GC and Subcontractor are both on the platform. They did announce at their Groundbreak event that they will be rolling out integrations soon.
Procore is good for general contractors that want to keep all their project files in one location, have them accessible from anywhere on any device, and for tracking project information like punch lists, RFIs, etc. It is not ideal if you need an all-encompassing solution for project management, accounting, etc, so it all works together and provides data analytics.

We are a roofing subcontractor and we use Procore for our prime business filing and management system. The photo and drawing functions are great and document uploads and storage are great also. Very easy to navigate and use overall. It allows great interaction between field and office staff, but many outside organizations are reluctant to interact business to business.
  • Great photo uploading and storage and access.
  • Great correspondence features between all staff.
  • Linked drawings are a big advantage.
  • Our being a subcontractor and not a general contractor makes the system difficult to adapt to for our uses.
  • Project financials and the interaction between Procore and Sage Estimating has been extremely cumbersome and non-user-friendly.
  • Program was sold to us as being useful for subcontractors as well as general contractors, this is definitely not the case.
  • Want to see modules and systems designed specifically for subcontractors, using the correct terminology.
