ActiveCampaign works really well for managing traffic from social media adverts, or for triggering a marketing campaign to a distribution list and then managing all the steps that follow. The CRM part is still appropriate for all clients, but for some client types, the automation may not be appropriate, depending on the sector and client relationship.

Zoho CRM

This really is an incredible platform. It is robust and can be customized to suit your needs. The school I was trialing it for had a terrible system where they went between several programs and were constantly losing track of what was going on. Zoho [CRM] was able to show them how a proper CRM can be multi-faceted in terms of lead tracking, communication, and ultimately tracking after conversion. At the time I am writing this, the last I used Zoho [CRM] was a handful of months ago, so some of the cons are likely already outdated - this is how on it their improvement team can be. So then why didn't we choose it? Because the school had already paid for an over $5,000 a year childcare management software that refused to allow integrations to programs they didn't have a partnership with. Be wary of this, people! You could lose a great program because other ones just don't want to play well with others. Zoho would have been able to integrate just fine, but not for the CMS.

  • The integration with Zoho Campaigns and Zoho Desk is fantastic. It is really easy to access data from [Zoho] CRM for both support and marketing-related purposes by using the integrations.
  • It is also really easy to set up follow ups with leads you are in conversation with.
  • There is a high degree of automation that is also built into the system that our sales team uses frequently. Email and reminders are well integrated into [Zoho] CRM.
  • We like that we can pay based on the number of seats we need and increase or decrease that whenever we want to add or remove new users.
  • Being able to define the roles and access level of each user we add into [Zoho] CRM is a really useful feature.

Cons

  • The email builder is annoying. Very slow at work and it constantly resets the cursor, font type and list continuation. It's one of the most frustrating things about it.
  • I am surprised there isn't an automatic "send to people who haven't opened the last x campaigns" trigger. Other competitors have this feature. Instead, I'm forced to use 2 automations that play the role of tagging after a certain amount of days have passed.
  • While it's a market practice, I think the cost can go up exponentially the more members one has. Maybe I don't understand the process enough but places like Sendgrid, MailerLite offer decent automations and 1,000 subscribers free. I know sendgrid charges per email sent but still I find the cost to pay for a list size odd.
  • The overall refresh rate of the platform seems to use a lot of CPU power because it lags every time I switch functions or create new steps. I can hear my fans go to high every time I start doing something. I know my CPU is old but I use other demanding software and I don't have that problem. I think the refresh rate and speed of the platform can be improved.

  • Navigation can be a little daunting because there are so many options. So not as intuitive to use
  • Events are really important in my business & wish there was more ability to schedule recurring meetings for multiple attendees. For example, I cannot schedule meetings every 3 weeks.
  • Meeting reminders are nice but cannot customize text and limited to only 2 days prior.

I haven't experienced application errors or unplanned outages at all. Active Campaign is ultra reliable and I would not be using them if that were the case. Also, the helpful emails they send are welcomed and informative, and present very practical tips and guidance for using the platform. They're always demonstrating new features and I'm thankful for that.

This might be the best part. The chat support lady offered to make a video to help me solve my problem. I worked in customer service for years and I've never done that, lol. So, if they're offering things like that, I can only imagine that they'd be able to handle most any issue you throw at them.

Take it slowly and meet often with your team to solicit their feedback. Listen to what they are saying so that if something is not clear, you can address it before they turn on the CRM. Also, whatever system you were one previously will not match Zoho CRM which is both good and bad. It's good as I know Zoho CRM will be better than whatever you're been using. Bad because it will require change and how you did things in your old CRM may need to be modified a little when using Zoho CRM.

Same tools at a better price-point. What it may lack in "UI-panache" it makes up for with customization and flexibility. We are a smaller company, and with ZohoCRM have been able to achieve our desired workflows and results through the educated building of workflows and custom modules. Simply put, I'd dare anyone to find as robust a platform for the price.

My web designer told me about Active Campaign and although I don't recall which platform I had before, I LOVE Active Campaign and its user friendliness. The transition was seamless and I've never had a problem with functionality or server failure.
Active Campaign provides so many features, and makes it easy for non-techies to maneuver around the site with ease. They capture information and put it in an easy-to-read format.
At this point, I don't think I'd ever use any other platform!

  • We are a new startup and growing rapidly, hence we have been able to capture more then 200-300 leads in the past few months using the Zoho Forms.
  • Our live chat option was pathetic before using the Zoho CRM, hence now we are able to immediately respond to tens of queries on a daily basis using the mobile app.
  • Once Leads were captured, converting them into deals was not being tracked professionally before using Zoho CRM, but now thanks to Zoho CRM deals funnel, we are able to onboard more than 50 customers smoothly over the past few months.
