We use three Linodes, one for us to test our systems and make demos to our clients. The second Linode is for one of our clients, they are in Saudi Arabia and the last one is for a governmental organization which is a client too. All these Linodes are used as PaaS (Platform as a Service).
  • Easy to manage.
  • Good insights.
  • Backups.
  • Support.
Linode is good for admins and users with good knowledge in information technology and server management. If the user has little knowledge of server management then he will need help from experts. The good thing is there are a lot of tech gurus who have experience with Linode on platforms like Upwork and others. Linodes themselves can be used for all hosting purposes.

Linode is being used in my organisation for data services to help other businesses grow. It solves software problems related to cloud data. Linode is a VPS provider which has low cost fixed price servers paid on a monthly basis.
  • Reliable.
  • Fast.
  • Efficient.
  • Less maintenance unless essential - all my servers upgraded and downtime this year.
  • Bigger and more storage.
Linode is suited if you want a low-cost and reliable service for a fixed price. Compared to Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform where you cannot know the cost and is dependent on usage, Linode is better for controlling costs and managing services. I highly recommend it.

We use Linode throughout the organization to realize our ideas on blockchain ideas, from setting up staging environments, serving websites as decentralized apps (dapps), to making a worker cluster to organize data before distributing to our customers. As a blockchain startup, we often compete with high availability and low latency facing partners all over the world.
  • Simple setup yet professional
  • Transparent pricing
  • Many regions are available
  • Inflexibility to customize hw specs
  • Too few tiers on LongView to choose from
  • Lack of exclusive services integration
When the requirements are clear, using Linode is both economical and well-scalable comparing with other VPS providers. Flat pricing also means you can care less about expenses and focus more on what you plan to build. Generally, I recommend evaluating it first. But its simplicity often sacrifices fine-tuning, which should be kept in mind when experimenting.

We utilize Linode's services to host multiple production and development level projects. These projects are used company wide. We host a corporate intranet resource and various custom portals for gathering and displaying information to our remote staff. We host multiple websites that run on the Laravel framework platform hosted by Apache and backed by MySQL databases.
  • Exceptional uptime and reliability.
  • Easy to use control panel.
  • Ability to install various operating systems, fully customizable to your own needs.
  • Kept informed about any upcoming hardware maintenance with the ability to adjust the maintenance window to better serve our needs.
  • Easy automated backups at the touch of a button.
  • Affordable, excellent prices and package options.
  • Bundled Longview monitoring service should have all features enabled for in-house servers.
  • Could use further customization options for access rights of sub-user accounts with access to the Linode control panel.
Linode has been an amazing host for us for many years. We had tried other affordable hosting options in the past, but nothing came close to offering the service or reliability of Linode at this price point. If you need a project hosted securely and reliably, look no further. The ability to spin up new servers in minutes makes development easy and reduces overhead costs. Their generous bandwidth and hardware allowances mean you can host production level services with heavy traffic far cheaper than alternative options.

We use Linode for hosting a variety of websites across different servers. We need to be able to scale up and down the server depending on the load (a few days a year we have hundreds/thousands of users, and only a handful the rest of the year). Linode enables that without having to redesign the existing site for use elsewhere. We can also spin up additional servers effectively on-demand as needed.
  • Reliability
  • Ease of setup
  • Technical guides
A cost-effective server is needed for a business that goes beyond basic website hosting needs (eg. additional scripting required in the background). Somebody needs to understand how to use Linux in order to set it up, but at the point, that sort of scripting is needed, that is presumably already the case!

We use Linode Compute and Storage services for both internal and client solutions. It provides a flexible and cost-effective platform for our development, testing, and production environments.
  • Flexibility to easily move between the various sizes of compute products as required.
  • Simple and clear cost effective pricing, no hidden charges.
  • Rock solid performance.
  • Continuing development in their APIs to improve automation which saves time and improves consistency.
  • Support could be better but have rarely had to use it.
Easy to provision and delete resources as required, allowing control of costs and reducing complexity.

We use Linode to host clients' marketing sites, as well as our own internal service. It addresses the demand for good-value and reliable web hosting servers, with generous bandwidth allowances.
  • Price competitiveness
  • Support is excellent and they know what they're talking about.
  • The level of English spoken by the support staff is superb. When something goes wrong you don't have time to work out endless miscommunications.
  • CPU allowance is surprisingly powerful compared to AWS servers at the same price point.
  • Disk speed is better than their competitors.
  • Managed databases are missing. Sure, they don't provide anything we can't do, but they do move the point of blame when anything goes wrong from us to the provider.
  • Disk IO isn't as fast as certain specialist cloud providers, and we've moved high IO workload to these.
Any time you want a fleet of servers, and you're happy to configure the load balancing yourself, Linode is great. If you're going to burn through disk IO e.g. heavy database servers, it's less appropriate.

We use Linode as our go-to external Linux VM solution. Linode is used by various technical users in our company. The reasons we use Linode instead of other cloud companies are 1) ease of use, 2) stability, and 3) performance. Various people at our company have been using Linode since the early 2000s. I've never had unplanned downtime or lost a Linode, unlike our experience at other leading cloud providers. I've also found that the servers tend to perform better than advertised. I trust Linode.
  • We've used Linode to host some aspects of our Splunk enviroment because the cost vs. performance curve is second to none.
  • We use a smaller Linode server to host and redirect domains because the performance is great for the price.
  • We've used short term linodes to test software and various configurations.
  • I'd like to see some of the more advanced AWS features, like Lamba functions
  • I'd like to see a managed database offering
  • A virtual private cloud offering would be great
  • Enterprise features and management would be nice
It is an amazing solution when you don't need all of the enterprise functionality or cloud products offered by the major providers. This is probably about 90% of workloads.

Linode is used by our technical team for hosting software and websites which we make. Linode is easy to use and anyone with basic knowledge could use it to host any kind of software or website with good performance, optimization, and speed. It is good to use, but the problem we get while using it to host is sometimes the server didn't respond back or stay offline which occurs a little but sometimes results in great loss, especially when we have to show work to our clients.
  • Automatic data backup.
  • DDoS protection: We stay protected from Distributed Denial of Service attacks.
  • NodeBalancers for balancing the traffic.
  • It is cheaper and better than other hosting servers like AWS.
  • NodeBalancers are surprisingly expensive compared to VMs.
  • Lots of un-useful emails from Linode.
Their customer support is honestly excellent, they respond to queries asked by users as fast as they can and provide the best solution possible. Sometimes, they even provide a refund for the inconvenience caused to the users due to the inactivity of the server. They are always willing to provide solutions for each and every kind of problem related to their server, even if the problem is not related to their service.

We use Linode for development environment and production. This year we have became Linode partners and we are planning to move some customers to Linode.
  • I love Linode because is simple to use and navigate.
  • You can create a node in a few seconds.
  • Linode has documentation about how you can protect Linux instance, deploy clusters, databases.
  • Direct VPN like GlobalProtect or FortiClient.
  • I wanna use Mongo Atlas and it just has nodes with Azure, Amazon and Google. It would be a great improvement if Linode add this.

We're using Linode servers in our company for different projects, sometimes to empower web servers and some other times to process tons of information.
I'm glad to say that our infrastructure very stable and scalable, I usually run scripts [which take] more than 24 hours and they run [uninterrupted.]

  • The Linode UI is easy to understand.
  • Linode VPS are very easy to maintain.
  • They payment information is most clear than other VPS companies.
  • Service similar to AWS RDS.
  • Service similar to AWS SES
  • Lambda scripts (serverless scripts)
As I saw in the 5 years I was working with Linode, I do not [see] any problems that I could not resolve using Linode services.
But maybe you can think on include a service to allow companies to send emails, SMS, and it would be very very good to have a way to run lambda scripts in different languages, lambda scripts are serverless script that you can access through an endpoint.

We are a software development firm. We have couple of web based products, we use Linode as our infrastructure. We use Linode in almost all the department from development to quality assurance. Linode gives us the server platform with very reasonable price compare to other providers. And also their support service far beyond the expectation. Honestly we are getting AWS like support without any additional cost. Superb service I have ever got. We use Linode Linux-based servers and object storage.
  • Superb swift very supportive support service.
  • A solid infrastructure never fails.
  • Very economical.
  • Lot of features and services.
  • One stop solutions for all your cloud solutions.
  • Real time analytics for service we use.
  • IoT platform.
  • Cloud function.
  • MQTT brokers.
  • Chat server.
  • Video conferencing platform (like Zoom).
  • Video streaming platform (like Vimeo).
It is appropriate in any scenarios, because they have a lot of package to pick according to your requirements.

We use Linode for our cloud hosting. We need a fast, high availability and performance based cloud hosting solution to support our agency business. Linode is the infrastructure provider that we have tested and happy with their services so far as it meets our need for a reliable cloud hosting solutions. We also like there are many options available for us to deploy our solutions and services. We mainly use API and their UI manager. Our experience has been the best compared with other cloud infrastructure providers.
  • Transparency of their uptime and high availability of their cloud server.
  • Easy to use API to deploy solutions and services.
  • Clean and simple Cloud Manager UI interface to navigate.
  • Ability to select the data center regions visually.
  • Hard to know which version of the app can be deployed in the marketplace.
  • Not able to use chat widgets in the UI cloud manager as it keeps loading intermittently.
  • No update to the Community stackscripts which has been outdated.
Love Linode as they are an all-around reliable cloud infrastructure provider that offer fast cloud server. They understand uptime and availability is important to their customers. Linode is transparent on their cloud server uptime.

We run a bunch of Docker images on a Linode to handle both static and dynamic websites. A single small instance runs 10 domains including nginx, PHP and MySQL. A haproxy runs in its own Docker container on the same node and exposes websites to the internet. All other nodes are only accessible from haproxy.
  • Self-service computing resources.
  • Stable environment for virtual servers.
  • Minor gripe: The DNS manager should communicate how long it will take for information to update. UX of that tool could be better.
Linode seems a very good choice if you need your own server but don't want to spend lots of money or dig into the complexity of things like AWS or google computing cloud. You simply get your virtual Linux box with web access that has a very reasonable capacity. I would not recommend Linode if you are no developer and want a managed version of e.g. WordPress or some other standard application.

I use Linode to be able to use Unix or strictly Unix-like operating systems (OS) on a powerful server for Internet sites. I am the 'organization' so is used by 'all.' Linode addresses the problem of access to powerful (yet affordable) servers usable for all normal Internet protocols, with high bandwidth, and with some protection against DDoS, supported by a team of experts in POSIX-based OS.
  • Offers GNU/Linux distributions for servers.
  • Offers loading your own .ISO for servers (such as *BSD Unix).
  • High-technology (powerful system resources and network services/bandwidth).
  • Helpful/friendly customer support.
  • Should consider allowing/supporting *BSD & OpenSolaris/IllumOS Unixes in their choices of .ISOs.
  • Should be a little more speedy updating non-systemd (real server) GNU/Linux .ISOs
  • For the number of servers they administer, might consider enlarging their team, but their current customer support team is more than adequate.
Linode is well-suited to running mid-to-high-range servers (managed by the customer or also by them) and perhaps other services (I don't use yet) for a good price among independent virtual private server (VPS) companies, and seems to be the one that most respects the First Amendment of The Constitution of The United States of America (in contrast to three major mid-to-high-range VPS competitors, some of which are in Europe so have more speech restrictions.) If someone could do okay with even lower-range VPS than Linode's nanode (smallest,) there are more affordable options but the VPS might have system resources like a server from the mid-1990s.

We use Linode to maintain our SaaS online and supporting systems too. Currently we have 7 servers with Linode and it's extremely reliable, which I believe is the main point, never had a major problem in all those years, honestly, I can't recall one. It easy to use and is constantly building up new tools. Reading is also painless.
  • Reliability.
  • Ease of use.
  • Affordable.
  • Resizable.
  • Custom machines.
  • Add RAM on demand.
I believe it can be used in all scenarios. It has a nanode plan for just five dollars, this can surely host your website and small app. It goes all the way to big servers.

Linode is used to run all of our server systems for production and for development. Also for our email servers and for data backup purposes. Have rebuilt the infrastructure countless times during the past 7 years of use. Always a pleasure to work with the management tools and the API. Have been very happy and satisfied with our service.
  • Performance value for the cost.
  • Flexibility of types of machines you can run.
  • Flexibility to scale with more services as needed.
  • Ability to run machines at various geographic locations.
  • Nothing comes to mind.
Excellent for when you want a solution to roll your own cloud infrastructure.

Might not be fully suited for someone looking for a full managed solution where everything is done already.

We use Linode as the backbone of our website hosting services, which allows us to deliver top-level hosting performance to our clients while also allowing us to control costs. The ability to swiftly spin up a Linode in virtually any major region in the US and get our stack up & running gives us the flexibility to provide the resources needed to ensure client websites & services operate quickly & efficiently.
  • Value.
  • Uptime.
  • Support.
  • Features.
  • Flexibility.
  • TrustRadius recommends I add at least three issues, but I can't. Perhaps we'll run into issues as we continue to scale, but so far, it's been nothing but positive.
With the right knowhow for your purposes, it's great for virtually anything where using the cloud is necessary. While we don't currently have any of our Linodes set up as VPNs or exclusive cloud drives (i.e., OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.), we absolutely love it for hosting web applications and client websites.

It's been used by a department. We use it for deployment of software written in Java and with the use of Docker.
  • Fast bandwidth.
  • Up-to-date packages.
  • Many options for operating systems.
  • No GUI for every distro.

Well suited for fast deployment when used with automation tools like Bitbucket pipelines.

We use Linode for hosting internal web services that power our business operations (file syncing, mail server, etc) as well as to host web properties for ourselves and clients.
  • Value.
  • Performance.
  • User friendly management GUI.
  • Robust CLI.
  • Customer support.
  • Network effect: not popular across the industry for service stacks.
I love Linode. It's cost competitive with the best performance for the money. Customer support is great, but I have a hard time selling Linode to companies interested in microservice architecture for a large engineering organization due to the network effect of competitors such as AWS and GCP.

I'm using Linode to provide small compute enclaves that do localized processing that passes content to other websites. Or, put another way, it's the secret brain that runs our sites. I tend to use it exclusively, though I have users that utilize the node on it, and the service it provides is utilized by all kinds of systems. It's where I do R&D as well as production services.
  • Fantastic Console Access -- everything is clear and well laid out.
  • Support -- their support has been absolutely stellar, both in quality and responsiveness.
  • Surprise Upgrades -- their rewarding of customers by boosting space or CPU power while keeping the cost steady has been phenomenal.
  • My greatest fear is that Linode will expand to a broader reach of services diluting what they are enormously talented at; they currently provide a very nice cost/service ratio that is virtually unbeatable. I don't need or want every cloud bell and whistle, what I want is to be able to stand up and have raw console access to a Linux system I can completely customize.
  • I wish Linode offered cheap, large storage options -- I don't need speed, I need space, lots of it. I could totally tolerate spinning rust as an option if it dropped more storage on me. I have several external multi-terrabyte drives picked up at Costco connected locally and bridge these, since I can't afford to do it in the cloud due to recurring costs.
I have recommended Linode over and over to people. I'd love to be part of an affiliate program.

We started with Linode when we ported our website from a hosting provider to a Virtual Private Server (VPS). We have added additional Linodes for various intranet and datastores. Linode makes it easy to use a VPS, with support for managing the operating system, network, storage, and other layers of the server.
  • We really like the ease of use of the Linode cloud management environment.
  • The Linode network team is very proactive, and communicates all network statuses in a timely and open manner.
  • The DNS manager for Linode makes it easy to manage not only address records, but all of the text records needed for things like DMARC.
  • The only complaint that we have with Linode is the pricing model. Pricing is done in tiers, and you cannot easily upgrade just RAM or storage by itself.
The Linode product that we use is the best in its class that we have seen. But virtual private servers are not for everyone. Some users do not want to worry about the underlying operating system, and just need shared website hosting. It is a little more work to use a VPS as a web host, but you also get a lot more control.

We have been using Linode VPS services for many years now for hosting various platforms and custom operations, after trying various other providers and being let down a colleague recommended Linode to me, what a difference! With regular upgrades that increase performance, full control that is second to none, and fast hosting throughout the world I'd not hesitate to recommend them. We currently have several VPS in operation, both in production and beta testing. Best by far that we've come across.
  • Control, from SSH to their own browser based console.
  • DNS services that work well as secondary, supporting ip4 and ip6.
  • Ease of selecting packages to suit the user's needs.
  • Some 'in between' options would always be useful, though not critical as the options are pretty good already.
Looking to deploy any Linux based application or OS, with full control from the terminal whenever and wherever you need it, Linode ticks the boxes.
