I use ExakTime every week to process payroll for the company. ExakTime is excellent for our particular field of construction because the geofencing allows us to keep an accurrate account of the employees no matter the location. It is also particularly simple to make corrections in the system when individuals forget to clock in and out.

I like how ExakTime geo fencing can narrow down how far an employee is from the work area before clocking in and out. The view sets to adjust cost codes for different projects is a plus. I also appreciate the pinpoint setup with the radius to determine the work zone is adjustable even after adding the address. There are often errors when trying to adjust time. I've seen people's time get doubled when a correction is needed.

ExakTime has definitely enabled us to keep up with the fast pace of the industry. A great deal of people are glued to their phone, so making a time clock on their phone is simply the best. I like the fact that you can adjust the settings to make it mandatory for employees to take a picture of themselves at the job. This feature stops time theft.
It is very user friendly and not too hard to use for individuals who are not tech savvy. Most of our users appreciate the simplicity of clocking in, selecting cost codes assigned to projects, and leaving field notes. The field note section allows production to be saved so supervisors can keep track of job progression.
I used a software called Kronos, but it was actually for clocking in a warehouse where everyone is stationary. ExakTime is better suited for my particular field because we have multiple locations. I have also used ADP, but I prefer ExakTime because it is bundled with all the features that I need to keep track of my jobs.

I have superintendents, foreman, administrative staff, and field employees that use Exaktime to punch their hours. The superintendents, foreman, and some administrative staff are salaried while the rest are hourly.

I'm the sole Exaktime expert at the job site. I keep track of the time and make sure the employees are clocking in and out correctly. If there is an issue with geofencing I adjust the mapping so the employees can clock in appropriately. Exaktime can be monitored by a human resources assistants or payroll clerks which we have neither of. Math is definitely a skill that one must posses while operating Exaktime. A person must also know how to read a map and be able to negotiate grid coordinates.

I don't have any major problems with Exaktime so I do not see a reason to switch to something else. All the bugs and learning curves have been worked out so move to another company will take too much time of which we do not have. I have become an Exaktime expert and don't trust another software that guarantees geofencing timekeeping.
Yes
ExakTime actually replaced the ProContractor program that we currently use. Exaktime is more user friendly and accountability oriented. In the construction industry, there are multiple projects that need to be completed at different locations. ExakTime allows us to keep track of the employees throughout the process of each project with the allocated time.
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
The single most important factor in our decision was ease of use. We needed something that everyone generally would be able to operate without calling a tier 3 operator. Integration with other systems was also a key decision. The Accountlinx portion of ExakTime allows a generated spreadsheet to be uploaded into ProContractor to assign money to each cost code used.
I would not change my evaluation at all.

We have 48 employees using the time tracker to track their time each day for payroll. Not sure if they are lazy or do not understand the way to choose the right job. We find that apple phones transport data better than android phones. We have a few employees that come in almost every day to say they could not clock out.
  • Track the location to the employee
  • Provide payroll information
  • Reports are prety good
  • Easy to download to phones
  • Start - stop easy to understand
  • apple phones transport data better than android phones
  • Like to set 1-2 employees to just one job location all the time
  • Do you need to change the set up code so often?
  • I would like to create a report using specific fields
  • Can I set a time they cannot start before?
Doing payroll for 48 people is a task, Exak Time has made it easier and harder for me. People do not clock in and do not get paid then they come complaining. Some clock in 30 min before their shift and want to get paid to stand around and drink coffee and smoke. The put random jobs down so I cannot track where they are. They come and go as they please and that helps us keep costs down so we are not paying them when they are not really on the job (a problem we had before). Most of it is the crews responsibility to do it right. It helps me to see which employees can be trusted and which cannot. Sometimes the log in or out does not send data to me the same day. One guy was snowed in 12 miles away for 3 days his data for payroll did not send till he came back into town.
  • Sometimes the log in or out data does not send to me the same day.
  • Ability to clock in 30 min before the shift and stand around
We tried the photo id but felt the employees would boycott if they were forced to use it. Keep it simple I was told. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks! Love the geotracking so I can see where the employee is at clock in and out. Would be nice if it was more user friendly. Better reports for that feature. We had the rugged clocks the employees just gave out the key fobs to others to clock them in. Did not work for us.
Stop and Go, job locations how hard can that be? I think the employees choose not to use it or forget to use it. That is when we have a problem and they do not get paid till next week. But that is the employee being lazy or not being responsable for their own time. Take some responsability people!
They were my third choice because they would work with QB. Love the reminder to clock in and out that woould be usefull. Open the Time Clock window in the app.Select a job or task, Select Clock In, Select Clock Out when you’re done for the day. I did not like the layout.

I do Payroll for our company so am the one who looks after Exak Time and updates employees and adds and removes locations. I also am the one who does Accounts Payable for our bills, I do Accounts receivable, invoices and payments for our customers, Answer phones and make appointments for our Customer Service, order supplies for trucks and office supplies as well.
  • Keep our employees honest
  • Know the location of employees
  • Keep track of breaks for employees
  • Know who shows up for work each day
  • Know who does not show up for work each day
  • Know who does not take lunch breaks per policy
  • It would be nice to have a few other reports
  • It would be nice to remind employee to clock out
It is easer to keep someing going then change things out. Our employees have taken 6 months to learn this one, I do not want to reinvent the wheel. Just this week I have seen inprovment as they now know they do not get paid if they do not clock in and back out every day.
Yes
Paper and pen, was a mess, people would show up to work any time they choose and the Foramen were responsible for tracking all employees in their crew and directing the crews work load, making sure the safety of the crew and tools were used properly. This took the responsibility away from them and put it on the employee. In the past employees were paid when they did not even show up that day.

I had 4 employees test out 2 different programs and I liked the other one for the reporting features, better GPS tracking but the employees liked this one for the ease of use. Se we choose your program to make it easy for the workers to do their part. We have employees that can not read so they like the red and green color of stop and go

Gave a notice to all employees to come to work 15 min early on the day planned to implement the program. I had Spanish and English signs on how to down load the program and log in I showed them ALL how to log in and out and explained that they are responsible for reporting accurate time. I had them all sign a policy that lunch breaks were mandatory for all employees at least 30 min per day. This ensures safety on the roofs. We had a few people who did not have passwords to the app store and we had a few problems with android phones but most of them were on their way quickly. Most not happy about the change but I hope they see the benefit of it now.
I have not had to use support other then as we got started and had a few hick ups but they were great. They answered all our questions even if some of them were no the program does not do that. I guess the best support is one that is not needed because the product works great and does its job right.

We only used support as we got started and had a few hick ups but they were great. They answered all our questions and made sure our employees were set up and running on the product. We had a lot of questions before we decided to go with the product and I think that helped with the decision to purchase the product.Knowing they were there for us.

We use ExakTime for remote time entry, eliminating the need to enter "paper" timecards into our accounting system saving many hours of data entry per week.
  • Time tracking per job
  • Time tracking per cost code
  • Meal time tracking
  • Equipment hour tracking
  • More report options
  • Report customization
  • Daily time approval
The easy remote time entry app is great for our employees. They like this better than filling out a traditional paper timecard. This is especially helpful when our employees are on multiple jobsites with multiple cost codes.
It would be very helpful if supervisors could approve time on a daily basis instead of weekly.
  • Saved at least 15 hours of time entry per week
  • Employees clock in and out with accuracy to the minute instead of guessing how many hours they worked on each job/day
  • Jobs/locations are listed on the app so employees can easily find the job they are working on instead of hunting through paperwork to find the location number
  • Geofencing tracks employees clocking in outside the job location
The geolocation has helped with limiting the list of locations when clocking in as well as flagging employees who are clocking in outside the geofence.
The mobile app is easy to use and 99% of our employees like it. The supervisors need to be able to approve time on a daily basis, not just a weekly basis. We have multiple jobs with multiple supervisors, making it difficult to only approve once per week.
Busy Busy did not track equipment hours. ExakTime tracks them, but the reporting is challenging when trying to combine labor hours and equipment hours in the same report.
