As a software developer working on leading part of our API-led connectivity approach, I am responsible for providing documentation which reflects the high-level design and implementation details. Through the use of Lucidchart, I am able to create these designs from scratch and copy and paste the designs so that I can re-use the illustrations for similar APIs. Lucidchart has been awesome at allowing me to create these designs, modify them, save them, and export them. However, my only issue is that I would prefer if there was a way to upload custom images to my own personal library for re-use. Aside from that, I will continue using Lucidchart, as it is an excellent product which serves my needs.
  • Ability to use images, adjust them, and connect each component
  • Ability to export these illustrations to a variety of formats
  • Ability to save these illustrations to my own personal library
  • The ability to upload my own personal images for use in creating charts
  • A simpler UI which doesn't overwhelm me with different options
  • An assistant which can track what I am doing to provide recommendations
I think Lucidchart performs well in the design of illustrations, charts, and design overviews for different products or solutions that companies are attempting to implement. It also excels in allowing users to take these same designs and import them into documentation, and save the designs as standalone images.

We use it for drawing network architecture diagrams
  • Diagrams
  • Decision trees
  • Architecture flows
  • Selecting and moving around shapes can get a little difficult
It is suited for diagramming and it has AWS shape packs so that helps a lot in drawing network diagrams

I use Lucidspark in process and program management. For process management it gives me a quick way to define new processes and roles. In program management I use it with teams to plan and review quarterly work. That includes doing a quarterly retrospective to learn how to improve our working together and brainstorming and prioritizing our work for the next quarter.
  • Provide a way for remote teams to brainstorm ideas
  • Team collaboration on anything!
  • Prioritizing and voting on the best ideas or courses of action
  • More support for Kanban
  • Better outlining
  • Easier way to lock frames and stickies so people can't move them
Great for brainstorming and prioritization. Fantastic for any type of remote team collaboration. Less great for Kanban boards and waterfall project management

Lucid is an excellent tool for team collaboration and diagram purpose. Most of the features are available out of the box. I especially like the way they read our mind and continuously improve the product. Support for the cloud is outstanding. The area where I love it the most is the Flow Chart, Decision Tree and Swimlane diagram. I absolutely love this and recommend others

I create swim lanes, dependency diagrams, decision tree, flow charts and diagrams portraying the systems that connect with other systems in our company or externally. It's easy to use and creative with different shapes, forms and colors. Nothing to dislike so far. I have been a Lucid user for 3+ years, and I love everything about it and there is nothing that I dislike at all. The tool itself is easy to use and very self-taught. It is helping me solve Various complex diagrams that go through our company from one department to another. It allows me to create a picture of our current process vs. our future state and to simplify breaking down the technicality of a circle and streamline it for simple non-tech savvy stakeholders or end users.
  • Provides great templates to use as example or reference.
  • Provides shapes and create diagrams with data.
  • Provides integration with Teams, google drive and slack.
  • Provides great visuals and choices of color.
  • no changes at the moment. I love Lucid!
It is well suited to present an image of a system to the non tech Savvy individuals. It helps express the image you have in your head on Lucid board or chart. It helps present the current state vs. the future state of a model. Its very easy to use and helpful for all.

We use Lucidchart to diagram our complex network. Lucidchart aids in showing others how traffic goes between various sites.
  • Collaborative Diagrams
  • Works on any operating system (mix of apple / windows here)
  • Easy to use
  • great connection point logic
  • needs the ability to program text labels on connection lines
Great to use in a multi-operating system environment. Also very good to use when people work remotely as it is cloud based.

I use Lucidchart to frequently build out process maps. I often use it to identify what my organization's current and future state processes are. This helps us to identify gaps or waste in our processes and help determine ideally where we want to move as an organization. One thing I've found helpful with Lucidchart is the ability to create a template. Since I really only use Lucidchart for process mapping, it helps to have a template already created where I can just duplicate and work out of. I think it's very similar in functionality to Microsoft Office Suite, which made it so easy for me to adopt when I started using Lucidchart a few months ago. I think it's a great application, and I would recommend using it to other organizations, specifically for departments that highlight process improvement.
  • The layout is not overwhelming. It is easy to find all functions on the home screen.
  • Lucidchart automatically have functions built in, such as how "yes" and "no" pop up as options when entering a decision point.
  • I like that there's the capability to have a template saved and that I'm able to share this template with others. Helps with simplicity.
  • I really can't think of three areas of improvement.
  • Adding in a waste cloud for process mapping! I didn't see that as a shape.
  • Maybe adding in more templates would be helpful.
I think Lucidchart is incredibly well-suited for process mapping. It allows me to clearly label what my organization's current processes are and also identify gaps for improvement. If I want to use swim lanes, I think it's very helpful as well to identify the different roles and responsibilities within my organization. I work in the healthcare industry and find it a great tool for quality improvement.

Process mapping and mockups: we lay out the blueprint and being working toward a shared goal as a team.
  • Easy to use templates
  • Layers for added but organized complexity
  • Ability to export and share as PDF
  • Any type of "cleanup" tool that allows for tidying up a map easily
  • Easier way to import different shapes
  • OpenAI assistant to help build process maps
Hard to find another product that does diagramming this well.

I use Lucidchart to create process maps and ERD's to help my team and our clients to get a clear understanding of their system.
  • Well thought-out structure with shapes
  • Ability to make complicated things look simple
  • Multiple tools to make things look more professional
  • With entity relationship shapes, if you delete something, it can move any lines you have connected to it so it creates more work if you make a mistake with a row
It's great to use to map out specific processes during a discovery session and in the first phase of a project to give a clear understanding to your team of what work needs to be completed. It's also a great tool to showcase to clients to ask them any questions about their system

My team makes visual flow charts of the processes within the company. The process charts we create help to maintain consistency for each department. The Lucidcharts we create offer a visual support to the written description. I remember when I first started the charts made brought it all together and helped it make sense, the visual aspect makes a huge difference.
  • Lucid has great instructional courses to learn how to used Lucidchart efficiently.
  • Excellent user interface.
  • It is well organized.
  • A costumer representative reaches out right away, I recommend meeting with them, they have great beginner pointers.
  • Having a downloadable document listing all the tips and tricks within Lucid chart would be nice at the very beginning. (for example: the right click drag function or hot keys)
When a team has a process they follow, Lucid is a great way to create visual representation for that process that can then be used to train new hires or express the process to executives and other departments. I would say it is best suited to basic processes or linear models. Once you start getting too big with a lot of lines crossing it can get messy. One way to mitigate that is to use the presentation mode, that allows you to focus on one area at a time when presenting.

The use cases I use Lucidchart for are Program Increment Planning, user story mapping, roadmapping with stakeholders, Mind Maps for workshops, and drawing out architecture diagrams for process flow. Lucidchart makes designing the diagrams for Program Increment Planning simple for any user to perform and the software makes easy to facilitate breakout sessions for PI Planning. I would highly recommend this software for any Scaled Agile Scrum master, Product Manager or Release Train Engineer.
  • Templates
  • Software Simple to Use
  • Continuously adds integrations
  • Better Jira Integration
  • More Tutorial Videos
  • More Templates
Lucidchart is perfect for team collaboration, templates, Program Increment Planning, Scrum Team ceremonies, Retrospectives, and review process flows. One area of opportunity is working with vendors that won't be able to access the Lucidchart if the temporary code expires which can lead to the Project lead to sending links to the same Lucidchart multiple times.

Lucidchart has many usecases due to its flexible nature. I've been using it mostly for workflow graphs, organisational charts, process presentations and timeline charts. Thanks to dozens of templates you can use it for both project-oriented work, as well as more managerial tasks, team or time-management jobs, reporting, even technical charts, HR overviews, trainings, and many others.
  • Very high customisability, ability to change the layout and content quickly.
  • Very intuitive UI with minimum learning threshold for most basic use cases.
  • Accessibility across platforms and devices.
  • More intuitive export to other tools/formats.
  • More/better incentives to upgrade from free version.
It's a great tool for visualising processes, organisations and dependencies within processes, teams or tasks. It's also great for composing timelines and basic project management.
However, if you need something with a very high degree of graphic editing and formatting (more Canva-like use cases), this is probably not the best solution.

Lucidchart has been a critical component in my professional experience in both my current role, as well as my previous professional capacities. The ease of use and wide array of functionalities provides a clean, quick way to complete ERDs, DFDs, and all types of general mind maps. Because it is so simple and has such a clean UI, it removes any type of cumbersome markup code development and allows you to focus all of your mental energy on the broader view of the architectural problems you are trying to design/solve for.
  • Easy drag-and-drop visuals and shapes
  • ERD shapes with options to easily include keys, datatypes, etc.
  • DFD shapes and nice shape / line options to visualize myriad types of data journeys
  • I have used the templates before and those are nice! I would like to see more
  • The ONLY complaint I can come up with is that there has been several times that my screen will lock up and i have to fully refresh it, even when it is a fairly fresh load.
Lucidchart has been very, very helpful and applicable in my line of work as i am constantly trying to solve complex data modeling and database design issues. I therefore use the ERD options frequently to aid in my overall comprehension of the problems at hand. Furthermore, I find a a lot of use out of the more general options with both the DFD and UML shapes and options, which lend aid to brainstorming on analytics needs, product journeys, etc.

I have previously attempted to do some work with a data dictionary and/or data catalog in Lucidchart, just for the heck of it. I was sad to find it wasn't a very plausible option from what i could tell, but would love to see some kind of solution there maybe.

I used lucid charts do design conversation flow for chatbots and IVRs.Lucid helps me organize my ideas and easily present them to customers and team mates. I’m also able to share my design with coworkers so that we can collaborate together. This type of collaboration helps with productivity and better designs.
  • Sharing
  • Duplicating objects
  • Aligment
  • Colored tabs
  • Improving lines
  • Faster
For designing chatbots and IVRs. Lucid helps me design big and small flows for IVRs and chatbots. With lucidchart I design detailed flows, including integration points, screenshots, sticky notes, and have the ability to see comments from coworkers and customers. Lucidchart also allows for easy integration with jira and slack. Sharing and downloading flows in different formats is also another benefit of lucidchart.

I used Lucidchart to create mindmaps and sitemaps. This was helpful when we're working with teams for brainstorming, visualization and ideation. I liked the different templates that I got access to because I was able to find something to meet almost all of my needs within reason. There were a few tricky parts, but overall it filled my needs.
  • Allowed me to build mindmaps
  • Allowed me to build sitemaps
  • Allowed me to request and showcase changes
  • Allowed me to work collaboratively
  • It was so frustrating trying to break out of templates because templates were set
  • Everytime I want to add something it messed up the whole formatting
  • Templates should be more adjustable to allow for easier add-ons and removals
I feel like there are better applications out there doing what Lucidchart does, but I think Lucidchart does what it needs to do for the price and my clients, who fortunately don't have to work in it, appreciate seeing everything displayed in it. I would recommend it as a more affordable project visualizer but if you need something more complicated or outside of the existing templates I would try to find another application that is more customizable.

I use Lucidchart to help with documenting our existing processes as well as collaborating with other teams on the development of new processes. We also map out our org chart for clarity, and utilize the tool to map proposed Salesforce changes to our JIRA team.
  • Cross-Collaboration
  • Real time updates
  • Process Mapping
  • Text editing functionality
  • UI updates for document management
Lucidchart is very well suited to create a workflow to demonstrate how you use Salesforce, and what would trigger different fields to update. It is also great at outlining organizational structures and/or seating charts.

I use Lucidchart for people, processes, and technology. People--for org charts. Processes--for building workstream process flow diagrams and software process flow diagrams. Technology--data platform architecture diagrams.
  • Azure network diagrams
  • Azure data platform architecture diagrams
  • Workflow diagrams
  • Org charts
  • Many of the Azure services have representative icons in Lucidchart, but sometimes I find that there are Azure services that have no corresponding icon.
If you are a solution architect (software, data, network, any of the above or more), then Lucidchart is fantastic. It's far better than Visio because of its collaboration capabilities and the ability to constantly keep updated.
If you are a business analyst, then Lucidchart is also a fanastic choice. I have found that its expanding canvas makes it so easy to fully draw out process flows.

I used Lucidchart to create flowchart and collaborate with others in the company. It is extremely helpful when I need to brainstorm concepts and turn ideas into tangible artifact. Often, I create the first draft and then invite others to give their inputs. Most of my diagram will be stickies, boxes and arrows.
  • Create flowchart
  • Analytics taxonomy
  • Mind mapping
  • Timeline
  • Gantt chart
  • License management
I think it's great for smaller group of team working together. Or if it's presenting to a larger group (but most people are just viewing instead of actively editing). It usually struggles if there is a large group of editors. I think Lucid is less flexible when it comes to free collaboration than its competitors. I do love the tool and really enjoy using it. But it always gives me a hiccup when I need to use it with people I know that aren't yet Lucid users.

Anytime we have to break down requirements into technical implementation, we reach for Lucidchart. Vroom's backend is a distributed system with many microservices, we use Lucidchart to visualize the boundaries, connections, and functionality of these services. We definitely use Lucidchart to help us visualize how we will implement future services and projects. We also use Lucidchart's ERD(Entity Relationship Diagrams) import feature to connect our PostgreSQL database to Lucid and get automatically generated ERD diagrams.
  • Visualizing distributed systems
  • Plugging in complex data systems
  • Collaborating across teams to decide on technical vision
  • I would love an integration with JIRA where the statuses of JIRA issues can change something on a Lucidchart.
If you need to visualize a new project in a distributed system, Lucidchart is definitely the way to go. Another great use of Lucidchart is if you need to visualize a timeline of sorts. Also, if you want to diagram relationships in your database, and you are utilizing a relational database, Lucidchart has amazing features for this.

Lucidspark is a top-notch collaborative whiteboard with robust functionality and outstanding facilitation tools. I've found it particularly useful in leading meetings and presentations, as it helps me create an environment where all participants can share their thoughts and ideas, allowing for more equitable and inclusive discussions. The platform is user-friendliness and robust, making it an ideal tool to use. Some of my favorite features include the robust sweet of templates available to inspire what I create, the automated table of contents, the ability to share specific paths, integration with Loom, and various engagement features like reactions and polls. One of my ultimate goals is to discover innovative ways to use technology to build deeper relationships and create a safe space for all individuals to share their ideas, and Lucidspark is the perfect tool to help achieve that.
  • Interactive meeting agendas
  • Engaging presentations
  • Interactive, collaborative discussion platform
  • Improved discoverability of some features
  • More onboarding guides to help people get started easily and ramp up their skills

Lucidchart has helped us build a combined view of our customer and partner flows, enabling us to understand the best opportunity to create value through our utility. The simple distributed tool has given all users equal and real-time access to these flows, as well as enabling a consistent language through the templates and shapes available.
  • Simple and distributed interface - available anywhere
  • A broad shape library with a focused interface (grouping) drives consistency
  • Secure sharing of files enables us to collaborate as a team
  • A dark mode would be useful, especially as devices enable fully dark mode for most items
  • Offline edit ability would be useful - I can export a read only PDF, but don't believe I can edit when not connected
Our need to rapidly map user and partner flows while working with folks across the country was critical to flushing out areas of risk and opportunities to drive value. Lucidchart allowed us to do this with no training, other than agreeing the standard format we'll use (which was also enabled through the focused templates). The relatively low cost access was critical in allowing us to do this early in our journey.

A separate need to map a legal entity structure was done in another tool, as Lucidchart was overkill, and a MS Office tool was simpler and quicker to access.
