What is Sage Intacct?

Sage Intacct is a cloud-based financial accounting software system with functionalities for small to mid-sized businesses. Sage Intacct delivers an array of core accounting applications such as a general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and order management to any accounting department or finance team. It also supports functionality for built-in dashboards, real time reporting, time and expense management, project accounting, revenue management, and global consolidations for multiple entities.

With an open API structure, Sage Intacct’s accounting solution also provides integration with any CRM, payroll, POS, or ERP system such as Salesforce, and ADP.

Core Accounting Package - monthly financials for board and examiners, quarterly financials for funders/investors, pulling data from multiple platforms. Currently implementing Fixed Asset module and integration with third party expense/invoice management platform.

Goal is to replace current budgeting/analytics platform and also to deploy the dynamic allocations module to allow for better allocations of general admin across programmatic departments.

I use Sage Intacct on a daily basis to record general ledger journal entries, reconcile bank accounts, we use Fixed Assets and much more. I love how specific I can be with the different cost centers and dimensions I can apply to each transaction. It's been very helpful with grant management being able to tag a grant to a transaction and address the restrictions right there.
  • Easily able to edit.
  • You can see the history of a transaction.
  • It's hard to delete a journal entry.
  • There is no "undo" on the bank recon if you accidentally match the wrong transaction.
It's been great for us to use with our grant processes. It's been useful in our revenue recognition meetings with investor relations. We've been able to compare what their records are with what we actually have recorded. We've also been able to make sure we have revenue properly restricted which has been helpful.

Intacct is cloud-based so we can work from any device,and it can store a lot of data. It has all the functions we need to make our business grow. Sales, AR, AP, and GL. I am learning how to use new technology to make process more automated thus improving deficiency.

It is well suited for a small to midsize business. It is easy to set up and start working on it. It has great controls that help data stay accurate, Users are unable to "jump the fence" to make a correction. The only thing it lacks is learning without paying extra. For instance how to create a Credit Memo template or upload csv templates.

We are a new user. The system allows us to attach a lot of information in the GL and AP transactions directly in the system so that it is available for drill down. We implemented a new subaccount structure which allows us to create more robust financials. By using dimensions we can easily pull different reports.

We use Intacct as our book of record and have Salesforce as our operations management system. We do have significant issues with capture of inventory management as we use two outside warehouses for distribution. Salesforce operations to Intacct was not built correctly with initial implementation and needs to be re-managed/implemented. But, there are significant improvements in the Distribution aspect of Intacct that should address the majority of our concerns.
  • We use Cross Country as our VAR and they have great response times with Sage.
  • Sage continues to grow the products and resources to customers.
  • Sage now considers Education Development a customer base.
  • The Transform has mentioned multiple times about SMB, but needs to share more details with Large Business. they have the capabilities!
I believe that Sage has the capabilities to provide fantastic services and your transactional definitions can be built to all business aspects, but at times better one on one for implementation may aid most businesses in initial applications.
Transform is a critical tool for many to attend and learn about the growth aspects of the tools available to their business.

We are using the AP, AR modules for daily activities. We also are using the Consolidation module for reporting. We have added AssetEdge for fixed assets and established API connections with Nexonia, Paymode-X and TreasuryXpress. Currently we are working with ADP to establish API connection and Bank of America to connect with CashPro. With Intacct we have been able to streamline most of the processes, especially during the pandemic.

We use Sage Inacct for payment processing, budget and report. Also, we use it along with Paramount. As a first time user, I enjoy the functionality of the software in creating reports and providing supervisor with platforms to review their programs from the dashboard feature.

  • Importing copies of invoices. Unsure if the option is there and we're not using it.
  • Security....again, the setting may be there to prevent users from searching all transactions.

I do enjoy the drill down feature. Also during this week's training, I learned there is an option to do forecasting in budgeting. I'm looking forward to using this feature with the department I work with.

I use Intacct daily within my role. From journal entries, reporting writing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, approve AP checks to year-end auditing functions. I am also the person that fixes most of the teams problems or issues.
  • The ability to retain the data from start to finish with Purchasing.
  • The ability to correct journal entries without reversing the entry.
  • The ability to work anywhere. Mobile/Laptop/desk top.
  • Journal Entry comment when you edit the original entry the data in the comment field disappears. Would like to keep data.
  • Be able to correct or delete payments in AR. this is very annoying to see the errors that were completed for a customer.
Our implementation was seamless and is user friendly. Once you learn where the modules are at with the tabs, the flow is easy to remember. Honestly, I wish we would have switched sooner. The reporting export to Excel is a time saver.

Dimensionalizing data for enhanced reporting is foundational to the system. This allows organizations to make better business decisions. The ease of API integration is a game changer for ensuring key data is flowing into the system, timely and accurately. Sage Intacct is constantly being updating in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements, and remains at the forefront of technological innovation.

Most business outside of manufacturing and construction are natural fits for Sage Intacct. Even still, Sage is shoring up these areas and we fully expect it to be the ERP of choice for decades to come.

Any companies that struggle with Excel-based reporting, multiple legal entities for consolidation of data, intercompany challenges, multi-currency needs, lack of controls and segregation of duties etc., are indicative of companies that could benefit from Sage Intacct (there are many additional use cases as well).

Sage Intacct is quick to comprehend and an absolute powerhouse.

Dimensions and entities are as elegant and impressive as I’ve seen in any system. Imagine being able to enter a payable that touches multiple entities and over multiple dimensions. Now data is instantly available to slice in various ways as needs evolve. There’s many software solutions out there, but on these fronts I would hold Sage Intacct up against any.

The ease of entering data into the general ledger, journal uploads for large entries of allocations. However, sending funds by international wire transfer can be difficult when keeping track if the funds were successfully transferred and knowing when to close the transaction.

We use it as our companies financial ERP system. We use it to process and manage our AP, AR, GL and integration with other systems we use to mange our business. We need an automated AP workflow system. Currently we have no real defined approval process and really need one. Hoping to find the best solution for what we need.
  • Easy to use.
  • Easy to train new users.
  • Integration with Excel.
  • Ability to customize.
  • Prepaid module needs ability to edit coding on a prepaid schedule after it is approved and started. It just needs some flexibility.
  • Fixed assets module needs to be more user friendly and additional reporting.
  • An AP check run report. There currently isn’t a report that can be run for what invoices are due on any given day. We manage by downloading the aging and make selections from there.
It does what we need it to and it is very user friendly and easy to train new employees. It also is easy to attach files to each type of transaction in the system. I haven’t explored keeping inventory and the manufacturing process so it would be great to handle specific industry manufacturing process.
