We are a public accounting firm and we use Sage Intacct with most of our clients and our own accounting needs.

I've used many accounting software and Sage Intacct addresses so many needs that there are too many to list here. I love this program.
  • Reporting Features from Module level
  • Ease of pulling reports into a workable excel format for pivot tables
  • The ability to change views in modules and pull excel data from the different views
  • The Credit Card Charge-off screen should have a draft state to save progress
  • Some of the module reports should have the "none" feature in the grouping to better pull to excel for pivot tables so less steps are needed to make it easier to use
  • Pulling items into excel should all be to the same format. Some items pull down to excel templates, while others pull to specific versions that are not compatible to the current version on my computer so I can't drag and drop one sheet into the other file due to incompatibility.
  • The area to void certain items is very specific, although I can see a bill on my bill analysis report and pull it up, I can't void the bill from the screen that pulls up even though the screen is identical to the screen I pull up from bills screen
  • On the check registers, it would be nice if matched but unreconciled items should denote on the report. Other programs will have a similar "in transit" for unmatched items and "matched" for matched but unreconciled items. This would greatly help in our reporting features. Right now it only shows "in transit" for unreconciled items without any noting if the item has been matched in the reconciliation function.
Although Sage is very complex, it is not difficult to learn to navigate, even without training. I've thoroughly enjoyed navigating the program to see what it does.

I use Intacct for general accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. I like the fact that everything is so accessible to everyone on the team and allows everyone to be on the same page. The ability to enter data in various ways is important to me. The variety of reports that can be produced is a game changer from client to client. The reports keep our clients involved and give hem a general understanding of what is going on within their entity or entities.
  • The ability to edit most things without having to make journal entries or reversals.
  • Sync with bill.com has never given me any issues.
  • I would appreciate the ability to edit any type of entry before making a final submission.
I believe Intacct is very user friendly and the training through Sage University is easy to follow. Intacct is well suited for accounts payable and receivable, as well as cash management, and general accounting. I have not been using the software very long, so I am not aware of all of the capabilities, but so far the possibilities seem endless! I appreciate the quarterly updates.

all accounting for 2 companies and 200 locations or entities, AP AR and General ledger
  • duplicate feature
  • correcting errors in entries
  • reporting filters
  • bill us for everything extra, feel nickel and dimed for our small non profit
  • set up was extremely complicated
  • lots of features they just say no we can't that
  • can correct some things in an entry but not others, example we created a class code that can't be adjusted after the fact for restricted and not restricted deposits
doesn't seem like it is truly made for non-profit, feels more retrofit

We upgraded our local accounting software to Intacct 4 years ago. We were looking for a software that provided more functions and usability and Intacct has provided that for our company. The features have been a great fit for our company and the accounting team has enjoyed using the software. it is helpful that our IT department can assist in customizing the standard features provided to best suit our company needs.
  • The menu is organized in a way that is effective for the different functions of accounting. The applications are broken out by function such as Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Order Entry, Accounts Receivable, etc.
  • The reporting functions for each application are very useful. There is also the ability to create custom reports to fit a specific need, which has also been helpful.
  • Sage Intacct releases new features multiple times throughout the year to create better functionality for customers. It is nice that they are invested in keeping the software up to date and easy to use.
  • The Fixed Asset module is out of date. While some of the other applications do feed into it, the credit card transaction upload that we perform does not feed over to the account and requires a manual asset creation if necessary.
  • Some programs do not feed over to Sage Intacct. For instance, we have had two payroll providers where the general ledger from payroll does not upload the Sage Intacct and is therefore a manual entry. We do not mind since we often have one off situations where we have to adjust accounts, but for some this may create more work. In addition, we do not have our bank transactions feed over either. This requires an upgraded charge to Intacct and we did not see it fit for our company at the time. Again, not something we mind, but might be a pain point for others.
The order entry application allows our company to have our sales operations department input the order and mark it as "ready for accounting" so that accounting can review the order and create an invoice if everything looks good on the order. Intacct communicates with our "back office" once the invoice is created, which creates a seamless process as long as there are no sync errors. Our company provides digital subscriptions and we just recently introduced physical products. The inventory module that Intacct provides at an upgraded cost did not meet our companies needs at this time.

My organization uses Sage Intacct as an accounting system. The problems is addresses are having a centralized accounting system for inventory, fixed assets, general journals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
  • Fixed Assets
  • Inventory
  • Financial Reporting
  • Journal entry details
  • Intercompany entries
Sage Intacct is well suited for an accounting system but may not be appropriate for companies who do manufacturing and have work in progress, inventory going to jobs, and need specific costing procedures

My organization uses Sage Intacct for all of its budgeting and invoicing. We use Sage to input all credit card invoices, employee reimbursements, and expense check requests. Our accounting department uses Sage to manage our budget. The problems the product addresses for our organization are mainly in the invoicing aspect. We were able to get a more user-friendly and in-depth tool with Sage Intacct to handle that process for us.
  • Has separate transaction type for credit card reconciliations and check requests for accounting to manage more efficiently.
  • Has a vast attachment database to store invoices and receipts
  • Expense requests are user friendly and easy to input.
  • They should include amounts in the transaction histories. When we submit expenses for the same vendor and need to reference back to it, we have to open each one looking for it as the amount doesn't show on the main transaction history list.
  • The initial submittee should get an email the invoice request has been completed. We only get one when its approved but not when the request has been fully executed by accounting.
  • Attachment title and description are essentially the same thing, having to put them both to save an attachment is redundant.
Sage Intacct is well suited for our intended purpose of it. TO input expense requests and control or budgets. The expense inputting and tracking is user friendly and robust. Our previous system was not able to separate credit card reconciliation receipts from expense check requests. It would lump them all into one funnel. Sage is able to separate them out to make our accounting departments job easier. If there were scenarios that Sage was less appropriate we wouldn't be using it for that. It fits our business needs quite well.

Sage Intacct is used in my daily tasks regarding both Accounts receivable and Accounts Payable. The program helps me to keep everything in order and in one place. We also use Sage APA and it ties in with my Accounts Payable very accurately. We are an affiliate of a larger Mother Company and I work closely with their finance department which also uses the system and ensures a smooth transition between the two.
  • Tracks my daily usage and aging- provides detailed reports.
  • Ensures smooth transitioning between AR and AP.
  • Being able to exclude all Credits when creating aging.
This program is well suited to both small and large companies but works seamlessly when incorporating multiple business divisions and managing separate affiliates.

I use Sage Intacct to maintain reporting for all projects that I financially manage, including their budgets, expenses, and income. As an organization, Sage Intacct is our platform that houses all project financials for every domain to utilize, solving the issue of having isolated information so that everyone has up-to-date and accurate reports. It also allows for foreign currency reporting, which is very needed for my company. I use it every day, and it is the primary place I keep my records.
  • Pulls consolidated financial reports from various imports.
  • Maintains foreign and domestic currency cash balances.
  • Provides customizable dashboards for preferred information for different people in different roles.
  • The interface could be more visually pleasing.
  • I wish the entire budgets were delectable.
  • Is there a place where you can search for what you are looking to do? There are so many tabs I often don't know where to find something.
Sage Intacct is well suited for collaboration of financial reporting. For example, in my company, as the financial analyst, I import financials from reports I receive from the field, and then the Investor Relations Domain is able to communicate relevant financial info to our investors with accurate and updated info. It is not well suited for keeping up with my reports only. I have to hold an additional Excel where I have the info only I need because there are so many people inputting info and so many places to look for it.

Within our department, Intacct is used in a couple different ways although I focus on generating purchase orders for our organization. Intacct helps us with handling PO's and processing invoices.
  • The dual factor authentication to login is fantastic.
  • The simplicity of entering information to generate a purchase order.
  • Also, the ability to create different "views" from a dashboard is extremely helpful. Especially when tasks change and the information one is looking for changes. Update your dashboard with a new "view" and the information is easier to extract.
  • Potentially an easier way to update company addresses. It's not too difficult but it is a bit hidden.
  • Alternative ways to login securely (it's great now although these security features always change).
  • An update to the UI could always help attract more users.
We have an alternative eProcurement system. It's more automated than Sage Intacct although that's just the way we have it setup currently. I turn to Intacct when our eProcurement has limitations and/or would be too complicated to use in a particular scenario.

We utilize Sage Intacct to manage timesheets and expenses across client engagements. This software allows us to have visibility into the amount of billable and nonbillable time our team is putting into these engagements, which allows us to analyze profitability and allocation of resources more effectively. We use this across our entire organization, which allows for continuity in reporting.
  • Project tracking and reporting
  • Detailed timesheet for billable and nonbillable time
  • Hierarchal approval on a project and organizational basis
  • More intuitive expense reporting
  • The ability to add a receipt on the expense line vs overall report
  • Mobile app capabilities
Sage Intacct works well from a project and time reporting aspect as it relates to the financials of a company. Some areas of improvement that would increase my overall rating would be better integration capabilities, more intuitive expense reporting, and the ability to send reminders in the software to collect and gather timesheets. It would also be great to build a dashboard view of chosen KPIs in the software itself.

Sage Intacct falls short in several key areas, making it difficult to recommend as a reliable accounting software solution. One major concern is its implementation of access controls, which is notably inadequate and could potentially result in a failed compliance audit. This lack of robust security measures raises serious doubts about the software's ability to safeguard sensitive financial information.Furthermore, Sage Intacct's integration options with other systems are disappointingly limited. This limitation hampers efficient data flow and collaboration across different platforms, hindering seamless operations and creating unnecessary obstacles for businesses seeking a unified software ecosystem.Adding to the list of drawbacks, Sage Intacct suffers from an overall poor user experience. Navigating through the software can be cumbersome and unintuitive, causing frustration and decreasing productivity for users. The user interface lacks the polish and user-friendliness expected from a modern accounting software, making routine tasks unnecessarily complex and time-consuming.Considering these significant shortcomings, it is advisable for businesses to explore alternative accounting software options that offer stronger access controls, better integration capabilities, and a more user-friendly experience.
  • Deletes important accounting data
  • Re-issues POs to all of our vendors unprompted
  • Motivates people to use a different accounting software
  • Stop allowing users to delete important accounting data
  • Do not re issue every single PO ever created without prompting/approval
  • Make a product that people actually want to use, rather than strongly disliking in favor of literally any alternative
Sage is not suited to use an any business environment, regardless of size or industry. Its poor access controls and integration options make it of very little utility, and are likely to cause substantial problems when integrating, auditing, or just using the software.

Our company uses Sage for every aspect involved in getting our goods to market except for payroll and expense reimbursements, and this is by far the most tedious user interface I have ever experienced.
  • Automated report generation.
  • User interface.
  • Create the ability to edit build kits in inventory transactions. Disassembling and starting completely over from scratch is a total waste of time when a simple change is needed.
  • Create the ability to edit an item ID - once it is done it is done.
Cumbersome inventory entry, the user interface leaves more to be desired; different levels create inventory reports that reflect count variations in items on hand. Seems like an over-glorified customized Excel workbook.

We use it to manage the organization's accounting by using General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, and Budget modules. We are considering implementing the Purchasing module next rather than continuing with our Sage Intacct Marketplace partner.

  • Excellent support from Sage Intacct's partner.

We predominantly use Sage Intacct for core finance activities and management, in addition to tracking project time and labor costs. The biggest problem the product has addressed for us is the ability to track project hours and associated labor costs, allowing for more accurate forecasts and insight into project margin.
  • Automated billable expenses - the ability to automate the process of re-billing a customer for such expenses (i.e., travel expenses).
  • The ability to automate time and material billings.
  • Being able to extract financial data in usable CSV formats for deeper analysis.
  • Reporting is incredibly bulky and inefficient. Custom reports are very hard to produce without a very in-depth knowledge of many variables. There’s also an Inability to run reports at the transactional currency level.
  • The modules don’t all “talk” to each other, which again makes reporting or analysis difficult. Hybrid billing methods (for example, milestones + t&m) are not really supported, as the contracts module doesn’t “speak” to the projects module, and you cannot include t&m billings in a contract in order to track all billings in the same report.
  • The entire system itself is not very user-friendly or intuitive. Each aspect has a fairly large learning curve.

I am the current Sage administrator. I set permissions, users, transactions, and anything else required. We have implemented Sage for all business activities except for production ERP activity, as Sage does not have any manufacturing capabilities. We therefore have daily transaction integration for our US entity relating to any inventory transactions, material receipts, or products shipped. For receipts and sales invoices, the activity uploads into Sage for AR, AP, and other activity or reporting. Sage helps us with live reporting of distribution sales, open A/R, and open A/P. We also now have the ease of approving PORs and invoices by user across a matrix and international organization.
  • Reporting menus across modules
  • Instant global consolidation
  • Flexibility in designing transactions
  • Relatively simple user addition and editing
  • Correcting transactions and reposting across previous months for up-to-date ledgers
  • Extremely confusing layout/linking of report design fields to match activity screens and data; much trial & error is required
  • Inability to easily make setup edits with so many fields locked after creation
  • Inability to delete unnecessary or ill-designed reports after the users leave
Less: no manufacturing capabilities, no WIP More: Flexible transactions editing, so those manufacturing transactions designs can match other ERP Less: Reporting issues prevent easily sending data to external partners More: Dashboards allow for instant reporting across functions More: Multiple user types and permissions allow for specific customization for many different roles More: Many flexible categories in inventory item setup for customization Less: Form creation complicated or inexact training

We currently use Sage as our exclusive finance and accounting system. We converted to Sage 2 years ago from Quickbooks Enterprise mainly because of the GL and reporting capabilities of the program. With multiple salespeople, sales teams, and sales regions it was important to have the ability to report financials at every level, down to each individual customer. Sage provides that flexibility and then some! The fixed assets module was also a great value-add, allowing us to report much more accurate financials on a monthly basis.
  • Reporting
  • General Ledger
  • Ease of navigation
  • Scalability
  • Automatic fixed asset depreciation posting
  • The ability to select a reporting period in the process of running a report, instead of having to hard code a specific reporting period
Sage is well suited for businesses that are on the bigger side of being a small business or larger that have the need to code and track multiple aspects of transactions. If you're a small business with very basic accounting needs Sage is probably more than what you need and not cost-effective.

It's great a system for a small company. However, using SAP for many years, there are some items that would be needed if I were in a much bigger company. However to find a report that shows when invoices were paid and all the information for each invoice is not available.

Would prefer an ability to generate a customer credit invoice instead of an adjustment. Our vendors need copies and sending them a screenshot of an adjustment just doesn't cut it.
  • Easy to navigate dashboard
  • Links to training videos do not work.
The inability to write an AR credit instead of adjustment is bothersome. It disrupts AR tracking as you have to pull a separate report in order to see the true customer aging.

I handle all the customers' financial information on Intacct. All of the AR and AP goes through Intacct. We have some different channels for payments as well, but all of them are integrated to Intacct so that Intacct is able to capture every single $ sent or received. All of the contracts are edited on here as well which includes the billing and revenue schedules. It is integrated with the bank as well so all the reconciliation takes place on Intacct as well.
  • Manage contracts
  • Allocating costs
  • Customer statements
  • Dashboard, our dashboard has been showing wrong numbers for quite some time now and still has not been fixed. A case is opened.
It is extremely good at AR and AP for a company. It is good for making integrations as well.

It is not good at showing a trail of a problem that might come up.

  • Allow for instant reporting
  • Dashboards to quickly get the information that matters
  • Ability to drill down into the numbers to a transaction level
  • Allowing to use numbers in financial reporting calculations. For example, being able to subtract 1 from a calculation of one column divided by another to get a +/- % of growth.
  • Allow for spreadsheet type reporting to more easily develop formula based reports.
The accounting team use to create reports for all branches, districts, and regions in our company each month and send a static report to the respective managers. This was very time consuming and difficult for managers to determine where the amounts where coming from. Sage Intacct has helped add transparency to the reports by allowing managers to access there reports in real time, at their connivance, and drill down into line items to view the details on where the numbers came from.

Sage Intacct serves as our organization's centralized hub for managing and maintaining accurate financial and billing data, acting as our primary source of truth. The product effectively addresses several critical business problems we encountered prior to its implementation. Sage Intacct streamlines our financial processes by automating various tasks, reducing manual errors, and enhancing overall efficiency. With features like accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and general ledger, we can seamlessly manage financial transactions and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Comprehensive Financial Management
  • Advanced Reporting and Analytics
  • Scalability and Flexibility
  • Competitors offer more flexible pricing models and sage tends to be pricey, especially when needing useful customer support.
  • API features, and documentation definitely have room for improvement.
  • Sage is designed for the North American market, and its often difficult to accommodate specific business rules in the platform.
Sage Intacct is well suited for organizations looking for a cloud-based financial management solution that offers comprehensive functionality and scalability. It is particularly beneficial for businesses seeking to streamline their financial processes, gain real-time visibility into their financial performance, and generate insightful reports. Sage Intacct is a strong fit for industries such as professional services, nonprofit organizations, and software/SaaS companies. However, it may be less appropriate for very small businesses with simple financial needs or those with highly specialized industry requirements that necessitate industry-specific features not readily available in Sage Intacct's standard offering.

Our organization uses Sage Intacct in different divisions of our organization. We use the software for our financial records and for financial reporting. Sage Intacct has been very helpful in its customization in the way information is imported and presented within the system. We had some issues with implementation but we were able to overcome challenges with custom reporting and dashboards. We wanted to have very clear visibility into our data and Sage Intacct has done a fantastic job of providing this.
  • Information Reporting
  • Accounts Payable/Billing
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Custom Reporting
  • Blending between modules (mainly reporting)
I have found that the cash management module is very helpful when working with one bank account at a time. It is very well streamlined to allow for easy access to see what is currently outstanding in the account and what still needs to be researched/added. I think it would be more beneficial if we were able to review multiple months at a time but that is currently unavailable within Sage currently.

We currently use Sage Intacct for all accounting and reporting functions. In addition, we utilize its budgeting capabilities. Sage Intacct has helped us reduce the time it takes to close our books from 2 weeks to 5 days. In addition, it has improved our transparency on data because of the drill down capabilities of the software. As a result, analytics are much easier to perform on our data.
  • drill down capabilities
  • Reporting
  • ease of use
  • construction business support primarily the ability to maintain house plan take offs
Sage Intacct is perfectly suited for the small to medium sized business, where larger software platforms do not make sense. In my opinion, it is the best platform for that middle market group of companies.
