One thing buyers should consider when looking for talent management software is the scope of the solution they need. Larger HR suites that include talent management capabilities may be more advantageous for midsize companies and enterprises that will likely need an integrated HR system. On the other hand, smaller companies and quickly growing businesses may not need all the additional functionality that comes with HR Management / HCM suite options and could be better served by an individual talent management solution. UltiPro is an HCM suite solution offered by Ultimate Software, which was recently acquired by the private equity firm Hellman & Friedman. Along with more traditional HR functions such as payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee record keeping, UltiPro provides companies with a set of talent management features. These include employee performance reporting, retention risk assessment, succession planning, business intelligence (BI) reporting tools, employee personal development plan creation, and employee analytics. Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) is an HR suite ideal for medium to enterprise size companies. It includes standard human resource management capabilities and strategic HR modules such as talent management, recruiting & ATS, and workforce management. Workday’s talent management features include onboarding tools such as a list of helpful contacts, tailored messaging, and training videos; a skills cloud that enables employees to further develop their skills; employee engagement surveys; goal creation and tracking; learning management; and employee performance management. The majority (63%) of Workday HCM users on TrustRadius are from enterprises. Ceridian Dayforce is an HCM suite solution that offers companies a range of traditional and strategic HR functions, including talent management. The product features a particularly robust talent management solution that features recruiting, onboarding, learning & performance management, and compensation and succession planning capabilities. A large portion (48%) of Ceridian Dayforce users on TrustRadius are from enterprises. Reviewers note that Ceridian Dayforce has frequent updates and uses customer feedback in innovative ways.

From Cornerstone, PiiQ is a performance and learning management solution that focuses specifically on talent management capabilities. This software is designed to serve small and midsize businesses, and includes performance management features such as goal setting and tracking, manager-employee check ins, 360 degree feedback collection, and employee reporting. PiiQ also offers a set of learning management capabilities such as ability for employees to search and register for online courses, mobile access, content creation, ability to embed media in content, employee course tracking and performance monitoring, and a dashboard displaying employee engagement with online courses, trainings, and certificate programs. The majority (58%) of PiiQ users on TrustRadius are from midsize businesses. Reviewers value the extensive course offerings and performance review process managing capabilities that PiiQ provides.

Nested inside the larger Oracle HCM cloud is the Talent Management Cloud. This software solution is fully integrated with the other traditional and strategic HR modules offered by Oracle and is ideal for enterprise companies. The talent management cloud includes features such as recruiting, performance management, talent profiles, career development tools, succession management, and learning management. A sizeable majority (72%) of Oracle HCM Cloud users on TrustRadius are from enterprises. Reviewers comment that Oracle HCM Cloud provides users with tools to monitor employee performance and create talent projections.

Many reviewers note that Cornerstone OnDemand is highly customizable and has robust reporting capabilities.
