12 months ago I would have rated TriNet an 8 or 9. However, since the implementation of Connect360, the service has gone from great to non-existent. I am getting complaints from my employees about their inability to get issues resolved and as the employer, it can take weeks to get answers to questions. For example, I currently have a support ticket open for one of my employees and I'm on 20 days without a response.

Best customer service experience!

We are a Finnish company, based in Finland. We use Trinet for our US employees, mainly for HR purposes, such as payroll handling and vacation calculations.
  • Our contact person at Trinet is hands-down the best ever, and the main reason for my satisfaction. She answers promptly and is there always for me, also for silly questions.
  • Clear and easy-to-use platform

  • From a Finnish point-of-view, Trinet has the updates running always, when I would like to use the platform. So I can sometimes use it first at the end of my working day.

We use TriNet HR Passport for payroll and benefits management across the whole organization. We do not use any add on services. Using TriNet makes it possible to have employees in multiple states without having to become an expert in a new state's employment laws and to offer an array of benefits with one stop shopping.
  • Our human capital consultant is fabulous and we benefit from her expertise when addressing complex employee relations issues. She provides great customer service - is responsive and thoughtful and serves as our liaison to TriNet as a whole.
  • I appreciate the extent to which TriNet leadership not only listens to client feedback but actively incorporates it into decision making and then reports back on steps taken.
  • TriNet provides good communication about HR developments, such as changes in the law.
  • TriNet engages clients through events, such as luncheon panel presentations.
Cons
  • The payroll system is not as easy to use as competitors (ADP and Paychoice). Reporting is more cumbersome.
  • TriNet's payroll processes involve layers of TriNet employee review and changes are sometimes made with out consulting our payroll staff person. Conversely, often we as the client may communicate clear instructions for handling special or final payroll and find that those instructions have been ignored, resulting in payment errors. Resolution of errors can sometimes involve several steps on the client's part.
  • TriNet needs to do a better job at advertising value added features, such as training and employment law resources. TriNet offers a lot of great resources but you have to look for them.
TriNet is well suited where an organization can afford to pay for service and doesn't have the in-house capacity or in cases where the client can afford to pay for a more sophisticated HR platform and provide a greater array of benefits. I have often recommended TriNet to colleagues who have employees in multiple states.
TriNet is less appropriate where there are a lot of part-time, benefits ineligible employees because the per employee cost would be prohibitive and there is not as much value without the benefits piece.

  • Report writer and canned reports.
As previously mentioned, TriNet has proved to be top notch when it comes to customer service, platform, and overall experience. TriNet doesn't treat their clients like just another client but rather a partner. There is always a team of highly qualified individuals at the ready to assist us in whatever challengers, obstacles or endeavors we encounter. I, without hesitation, recommend TriNet!

  • I do not like the Passport beta website currently. Information is difficult to obtain and is not always accurate.
TriNet is best suited for small companies who cannot afford to operate HR internally
