MIP Fund Accounting™ is a configurable fund accounting solution. The solution includes functionality for fund accounting, procurement, budgeting, payroll, human resources, timekeeping, fixed asset management, grant management, and dashboards for nonprofits and government agencies.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/vJ/iG/BC1772P0KCTC.PNGMip user for 8 years. It is being used across 4 affiliate non profit corporations. It is being used for general accounting, fixed assets, budgeting, and encumbrances. We still have the grants module, but I do not believe that it is supported any more.,Report flexibility. Permits the customazation of the chart of accounts. You can set this up anyway that you like. MIP gets fund accounting.,Once years are closed, it would be helpful to somehow place the batches, for lack of a better reason, off to the side. When looking for a batch, once you have had the system for a while, you have to sort through EVERY batch you have ever created. There are problems when staff do not follow labeling protocol, and sometimes you have to open a batch to see what is in there. If you could say do this and then place a previous unclosed year batch in a place, it would make current tasks simpler. When selling the product, there should be more time spent on the labeling of the batches and items that will be with you forever. The Grants module started out strong and then fizzled. It could be so much more for those of us that are grant funded.,10,MIP has permitted timely and more accurate reporting. Staff in my area was initially reduced, but has now increased because of expanded business lines.,Yea we have been positively influence by using MIP. As stated earlier, I think the grants module could have done more to help with multiple grant fundiers.,,Insite Software,10,1,Accounts Payable, Accounts receivable and all areas of accounting Fixed Assets Financial Reports,IT is using fixed assets to maintain computer inventory directly. Got rid of a lot of spreadsheets.,Grants management - if the module is supported and improved.,10,Yes,Product Features Prior Experience with the Product Vendor Reputation,Don't think I would change anything.,Professional services company,Yes,Change management was a major issue with the implementation,Conversion of the setup in QuickBooks to one better for use in MIP. Training, training traniing.,9,Basic accounting functions. But you must do a lot of policies and procedures when converting. Doing this forces you to think and possibly set things up better.,Fixed Assets - My staff has difficulty with this and so I do the work on this module. I still have problems.,10Overall in MIPThis program is being used by the finance department which only consists of two employees.,Wide selection of reporting Ease of data entry,Would like to hide or delete inactive or discontinued vendors. Actually, I would like to hide inactive vendors and delete discontinued vendors. Would like to hide inactive codes and delete discontinued codes. Direct deposit should be included with the payroll module. When the direct deposit box is check marked in payroll for an employee, it should automatically advance to the direct deposit information. Another module should not have to be purchased for that. As a non-profit, MIP is very expensive. What little I know is because I had to learn it on my own. Our organization can't afford all the training and/or different modules in order for us to truly utilize MIP. Just paying for the yearly support wipes out that line item of the budget.,7,Our organization has not transitioned to MIP Advance.,Yes, we have been able to manage multiple funds from multiple sources for each of the seven programs we oversee.,,QuickBooks ProMIP evaluatedIt is used by the accounting department to manage grants, restricted funds and grants.,It is particularly good at managing restrictions and named funds. It makes budgeting and an analysis of budget versus actual simple. One can create custom reports that are effective and efficient.,With recurring in trees when One clicks on them the entry has a notation that says recurring entry. It should allow one to put a description at the recurrent entry screen,8,N/A - we have had it for too long to evaluate like this.,MIP is great at doing this. It is what it does best.,,Microsoft Dynamics GP, QuickBooks Pro, Sage 50 AccountingAbilaWe use MIP for our Accounting and Finance Department to prepare Financial Statements, pay vendors, A/R etc. We have 3 entities using MIP with different EIN's and Charts of Accounts. We prepare Financial Statements using Actual vs Budget. We also use Accounts Payable module to pay vendors and produce 1099 at the end of the year.,Financial Statements A/P Reports,Reporting Excel Inter-Agency Transactions,7,N/A,We have 3 different entities using MIP with different EIN's and Charts of Accounts but have been able to produce reports for all 3 of them. Also, we are using Offset Transactions for Inter-Agency transactions which we do a lot. MIP Accounting is good in doing Offsets that saves time to enter everything.,Blackbaud,Sage 100 ERP, Blackbaud CRM,6,1covers all the basesMIP Fund Accounting is used by the Finance Department to manage the accounting and financial reporting for the entire organization. It addresses the business problems of financial reporting, organization of financial data by grant and grant spending. The budget module allows for multiple versions, which helps with forecasting and what if scenarios. The system comes with predefined reporting templates for the Statement of Activities, Balance Sheet, Statement of Revenues and Expenses.,The system is fairly intuitive. New users come up to speed quickly. The user guides and on line help are good. The various modules interface well. I use AP and AR. The reporting is easy to use and covers the basics very well. The reports can be downloaded in multiple formats (Excel, pdf, csv, etc.) and can also be emailed directly. Makes report distribution very easy.,The budget module should allow for a full replace instead of uploading the change when importing data from Excel. The GL should have a provision for recording non financial data, like FTEs, conference attendees, square footage, etc. This would allow statistical reports and greater analytics straight from the GL. Greater functionality for calculating overhead allocations and calculating the release of temp restricted to unrestricted.,8,We have been running MIP for many years. It is integral to running the business. We have evaluated other systems and have remained with MIP.,We use MIP to manage several funding scenarios: 1. Single funder for a single program 2. Single funder for multiple programs 3. Multiple funders for a single program 4. Membership supported publishing operation All work well and support overall reporting and compliance.,,Raiser's Edge NXT, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email StudioFund Accounting Solution!MIP Fund accounting is our sole financial software. There is not a lot of software that is capable of correctly and accurately tracking and working with fund accounting. This is in part because there are not many businesses that have a need for this style of accounting. If you work with grants or the need to track and allocate funds across multiple divisions from multiple sources, you will probably run into the Abila line of products. Abila's customer service is decent. They show continual improvement and the desire to listen to their customers. They do still have a ways to go to have a fully polished product.,Fund Accounting. Reporting, with additional modules. Encrypted paperless documentation. Has both cloud and local options.,Module and end user installation. The primary module prompts for updates if the local version does not match the server side and update is user friendly. The other attached modules do not and require the module to be uninstalled locally then be installed from the server to update. Admin or full access to server locations is required for systems and modules to work. Can import active directory groups but does not have live synchronization with active directory other then passwords. This can cause issues when removing and adding access using groups.,7,We are using this to move toward a paperless office in the fiscal department. Printing costs are going down, data storage costs are going up slightly.,It does this well.,QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions and People-Trak,People-Trak, Windows Server, Windows Azure,12,1,Fund accounting Fiscal reporting Electronic time tracking and entry,8,Yes,8,YesAbila MIP Fund AccountingAll functions of Abila is currently used by the Fiscal department. The monitoring department and program managers use the executive view feature of Abila. The encumbrance and budget reporting features are specifically effective across the organization when measuring program performance and outcomes to total expenditures. We have a fixed asset module that is excellent for tracking inventory across 7 locations.,The encumbrance module is excellent for tracking contract balances and providing reports for contract activity. The capability to import information speeds up the process of mass updates. I particularly like the ability to attach a scan of an original invoice directly to the entry. This is very helpful during monitoring or auditing visits.,Some of the reporting features need an added step. For instance, drill down function should allow you to see a specific transaction versus all transactions. The encumbrance module does not reflect any voids or reversals of Accounts Payable transactions. If an entry is not made to de-obligate or re-obligate funds, it skews balances. The reporting modules should allow for a projected expenditure column.,9,The advanced reporting and dashboard capabilities provide an clear snapshot of budget impact of expenditures.,Our organization has definitely achieved this benefit. We are a quasi-governmental funded agency. We track all grant activities based on specific grant requirements and this software has allowed us to set up user defined fields for multi-purposes.,,ADP Workforce Now, Google DriveAbilia MIP Fund Accounting from an IT manager's perspectiveCurrently we use Abila MIP at United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile for our accounting. We use it to track accounts receivable, accounts payable, track inventory, and reporting. We use it in our accounting department, and one administrative assistant who utilizes it to track items that we sell. It helps us track the inventory.,Customer Service is always great. backups are very quick updates are very easy to install, adding an invoice on the fly could be made easier tracking customers and purchases that they have made could be made easier printing labels for customers would be great,9,getting everyone trained to use Abila MIP Fund Accounting was very costly as we had to have someone come train us in house.,We are currently able to track funds from multiple sources. Our major improvement to the software would be to have better reporting of the customers. The current system does not allow for printing of something as simple as labels, nor the ability to produce an email integration into sending to existing customers.,QuickBooks Pro,Microsoft Access, SalesOutlook CRM, Data Quality ExplorerMy MIP experienceAbila MIP Fund Accounting is being used accross the whole organization in one way or another. I support and maintain the environment. I do all the updates and address hardware needs for the environment so business can access this database 24/7. When combined with Citrix my users can access their information anytime, anywhere and from any device.,The update process is extremely efficient and straightforward. It uses SQL which I'm very familiar with and can maintain in a centralized infrastructure. Support has always been excellent when I needed it and corrected any issues in a timely manner.,It still requires a 32bit MAPI client to do some confirmation emails, however I'm told that will be fixed in the Fall 2016 release. We run 64bit Office 2016 so we can't utilize that particular functionality at this time. Cloud backup integration. Seems to change hands which can be good and bad. I remember when this was Sage.,9,I have clients that have used MIP since 1998 however I'm told no ROI was ever calculated.,We manage multiple funds – Unrestricted, Temporarily Restricted and Permanently Restricted. We do not manage by funding sources but we do manage by programs, i.e. our individual productions.,,Prophix, Sage 50 Accounting, Sage 100 ERPAbila MIP Fund Accounting is perfect for governmental accountingOur Finance and Accounting Department staff use Abila MIP Fund Accounting everyday. It records revenues and expenditures, it records payable and run check weekly, it generates financial statements at the year end. Other department managers use it for reporting purposes.,Very easy to customize reports based on individual or department's need, plus all reports can be exported in Excel format. Vendor and customer ledgers are easy to understand with minimal training. Payable module is very smooth and easy to learn, never had problem printing weekly checks. We have multiple departments within the organization, it is very easy to record ledgers to each specific sub-departments.,Bank Reconciliation is difficult to use. The Deposits and Other Cash Items tabs are grouped by date instead of batch number. Lack of local training provided by Abila. Difficult to find employees who have Abila MIP Fund Accounting experience.,8,Save time to prepare year-end financial statements. Save time to keep customers and vendors records.,,QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions,11,2,Reporting Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Basic Transactions,Fixed Assets Payroll,10,Yes,Price Product Features Product UsabilityAbila ReviewAbila is used only by our Finance/Accounting department to process Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger processing and reporting. We also use the Abila Drillpoint advanced report writer. We are able to produce most financial reports for Management using built-in features of Abila, with a minimum of help via Excel.,We love the feature to attach files to transactions throughout the system. This is enabling us to be more "paperless" in our office records and avoid keeping hard copies of documents we are able to attach electronically. Abila is quick. It processes postings and reports quickly, which is very helpful when we are under the gun to produce Financial reports. The Advanced Report writer is an excellent tool and provides us with the ability to produce a complex report very important to our CEO that we used to prepare manually due to Abila's inabililty to produce this report in the basic financial reporting,I would like to be able to copy multiple rows from Excel into a new Abila Journal Entry (if you've used Solomon you know what I mean). I would also like to be able to insert a blank row into an unposted journal entry Fixed Assets - I would like to be able to remove (Retire) multiple assets all at once in one step instead of having to do so for each asset individually.,8,Abila helps us to produce timely and meaningful financial reports for Management. Abila helps us maintain good internal controls and separation of duties. Our organization has used Abila for many years, way before I joined the organization 3 years ago. From what I can see, Abila has helped our organization to effectively manage our finances.,We have been successful using Abila to manage multiple funds from multiple sources. The General Ledger chart of accounts can be tailored to, as far as I can tell, any type of funding/reporting requirements. We have over 200 separate funds we need to track donations and expenses separately for and Abila handles this very well.,,ADP Workforce NowAbila MIP Rocks the Non-Profit WorldWe use MIP in the Finance Department. I helps us keep track of each grant we have with ease. We are able to do reporting to our board member and each of our funding sources. We also use the Payroll module to pay and track our employees. This system along with our Microix time clock allows to complete our payroll quickly and with little errors.,Track budget, expenditures, etc. from separate funding sources Reporting with ease Helps with our payroll,On the Payroll Module it would be nice to be able to merge an employee that has several ID numbers into on ID number as long as the Social Security Numbers match The budget part could be a little easier to operate Ability to get rid of some of the selection in the drop down boxes,9,MIP has really saved us on time. If we had to do all we are doing by hand, we would not be able to function as well as we do with the small Finance Department we have. So overhead cost are greatly reduced We are not planning on leaving our on-premise MIP. There are many benefits to the cloud, but we loose some important functionality with our current time clock system if we convert to the cloud,MIP has greatly helped manage all our funds. We currently have 5 to 6 different funding sources we need to track at any given time. MIP saves us a great deal of time making sure the appropriate costs are going to the right fund. Also, we are able to report all financial information to each funding source, auditors, board member, etc. with ease.,,Microsoft Application Server, Apple iCloud, Remote Desktop Services,3,2,Keep track of funds Charging employees to correct fund for work performed Perform Payroll with ease,Creating reports from the system and exporting to Excel or PDF when necessary,Hopefully we will find an easy way to track our heath insurance for employees for IRS reporting,10,No,Product Features Product Usability Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor,At the time we purchased MIP I was not involved in the selection of the product.,Implemented in-house Professional services company,Getting everyone who needed to use the software to actually use it,9,In-person training Self-taught,9,,The product was fairly easy to learn for the basics, but I would recommend others to get training to use the product as it is intended.,7,We make sure not everyone has the same abilities,Some - we have done small customizations to the interface,Not at this time,9,Yes,When our server crashed. They went above and beyond to try to help us and even offered to send some one to NM to help us out.,Reporting Performing Payroll Processing Accounts Payables,The budget part is a little difficult, but with training I think we will get it We have a different way of implementing Benefits and Deductions for employee, the system doesn't help us out in our scenerio,No,9,8,9,9,Microix Time Clock,8,Microix Requisition Module,File import/export,Make sure what ever software you are looking into will be fully integrated with MIP. Some software says it is compatible, but a lot of functionality is not.,10,10,Not sure on this one for the initial purchase.,Have knowledge of what your needs are and what you are buying. All the software is fabulous, but it doesn't always meet your needs. Don't over buy if you don't need to.,Yes,My co-workers say the dashboard layout is better. I personally do not use the dashboard.,To be able to merge ID numbers for the same individual on the payroll module,No,NoMIP ReviewMIP is being used across the entire organization to process invoices and purchasing, as well as across our organization for cost fund accounting.,Cost Accounting Accounts Payable Reporting,We have not had any issues we need improved,10,We have used MIP Fund Accounting for around 15 years. It has helped with all financial objectives including: budget preparation, cost analysis, procurement practices, and compliance regulations.,Yes this is one of the greatest benefits for us.,QuickBooks Pro,Sage HRMS, TimeStar, AppliTrack RecruitingNonprofit financial managementMy agency utilizes Abilia MIP to manage and track all revenues and grant expenditures for state, federal and private foundation funders. I use this product to ensure coding accuracy by comparing monthly summary activity statements to individual grant trial balances. These financial reports are then communicated to our board and other stakeholders.,Ability to drill down on particular expenditures or revenue sources. Varying reporting levels depending upon the level of detail you are after. Ability to customize reports based upon the level of detail.,Very robust program, but can be very complex and is not intuitive. No general training available. Everything is module specific and quite expensive. No direct link capabilities with Bank of America for electronic banking purposes.,7,Abila has enabled my agency to proactively manage revenues and expenditures and identify surplus/deficit trends that could negatively effect future funding. Abila provides a high level of transparency when it comes to funders and external auditors.,Abila is very good at managing multiple funds from multiple sources. We have 12 programs funded by approximately 15 state, federal, and private foundations that consist of over 30 different grants which must all be tracked and reported on individually. We are able to create individual grant reports for monthly, quarterly or annual compliance reviews whenever the funder makes the request.,ADP Workforce NowABILA MIP IN AN INSTANTAbila MIP Fund Accounting is only used in the finance department of our company. Abila MIP is currently used for all accounts payable, budgeting programs, cost accounting and reporting for various state agencies for grant funding.Additionally, accounts payable uses the 1099 reporting. As a whole we keep to simple, direct and detailed reports as needed.Upgrades to the software have made it more user friendly and easier to navigate to adjust and make changes, keeping in mind a strict accounting process.,Ability to set up cost center/ percentages Budget analysis General ledger Reports,Editing Ability to add or change drop down cost center and percentages while entering invoices Voids/credits shown separately not lumped together for individual account lookups totals Print individual transaction amount and check number from screen Print for one vendor's organized dates, invoices, amounts, check numbers,8,Abila MIP Fund Accounting is the only software our non for profit has used. Not able to compare, as we are happy and not looking to change.,Abilia MIP Fund Accounting has worked very well for our company. Even though we do not use all of its potential, it is a highly effective, complete and well structured software.,CareLogicIT opinion on accounting softareOur accounting department uses Abila to manage library accounts.,Customer support for installation/setup has been easy to work with. The cloud option makes remote work much more practical for our staff. Continuous backup of the database puts our minds at ease.,As support staff and not a user I don't have any experiences with the software itself, but I've received no complaints. Billing could be more seamless, I have had difficulty getting cloud costs merged with software costs.,8,Transitioning away from an on-premise solution has reduced staff time required for updates or backup of the database and removed a lot of inefficiencies related to our accountant's remote work.,I believe accounting is happy with the software.,Citrix ShareFileMIP reviewWe are a non-profit foundation. MIP is our accounting software. We use it in a hosted environment. It is especially important for board member financial reports as well as required reports for our annual audit.,Data entry of transactions for journal entries, accounts payable and receivable is simple and straight forward. Easy to generate customized reports for multiple funds, trial balances, AR and AP reports, which can be queried for a variety of purposes By using the hosted environment we no longer have to be concerned with local data backup or product updates which are handled by Abila,The only feature I found difficult to use was the budgeting function. But I also recognize that there are also a large number of MIP features in the software which we have not used.,8,We manage multiple funds (grants) from different private and government agencies. MIP works very well in our environment for tracking and managing revenue and expenditures in each fund.,,Microsoft Access, Adobe Business CatalystAbila ReviewAbila is being used for accounts payable purposes like invoicing and check printing, it is used by our finance and accounting department only,Managing grant money Paying invoices on time Availability of custom reports,It can be hard to find and understand some of the instructions,8,It has had a positive impact on grant reporting No negitives i can think of,We are able to manage multiple funds,,Centricity EMRAbila is a good productWe are currently changing a few things to even better use the system and it gives us everything we need to report to directors, auditors and monitor budgets.,Does budgeting well Once we have COA changed over, we will be able to print indirect cost proposals and reports directly from the system Statements for directors and auditors are run directly from the system in various formats,We probably do not use the system to its fullest, but what we do use it for works fine. We do not have any limits to report for us.,10,Very positive Have been able to produce any report customized for many uses and needs Fixed assets are very easy to maintain,We do have many sources of income from grants and [our] casino and are able to roll them up into a summary for each department director.,Sage 50 Accounting and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions,Microsoft Exchange, Norton Internet Security, QuickBooks ProMIP ReviewWe utilize MIP for our purchase orders and accounts payable/receivables. I like MIP, there are a few functions I would like to see added to the purchase order tasks, but overall the program fits our needs well. We will be looking into the e-requisition soon.,Perfect for tracking purchase orders by vendor. Great at tracking purchase order balances.,I would like to see purchase order adjustments allowed. Would like to see how to include a tracking field for products/categories without adding a lot of additional work.,8,Yes, MIP is a great software for managing multiple funds and sources. We currently have three separate organizations, under one umbrella, that utilize MIP.,,Microsoft Application ServerAbilia MIP Fund Accounting is User FriendlyOur Finance Department uses it. We run reports for other departments monthly. We use for all are financials and board reports quarterly.,User Friendly Can have multiply grants You can import from excel.,Cannot delete a vendor or client after several years of not using them If you mess up on a import it will lock you out of that batch.,10,Have not transitioned to MIP Advance at this time Looking forward to using the cloud.,We have over 12 funds and have more over the years. The reporting is easy and you can run several reports with different levels of information,,QuickBooks Premier,Implemented in-house,Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled,10Great product for your accountingCLC is a consulting firm supporting FQHC. We recommend and use MIP for many of the health centers we support.,Grant tracking capabilities. Easy chart of accounts set up. Flexibility with reporting.,Cost, many smaller health centers can not afford the initial upfront expense to implement MIP. Not as user friendly especially when it comes to running reports, the balance dates cause lots of confusion and erroneous reports for some of our users.,8,This is MIP's strongest aspect. It's easy to set up multiple funding sources and streamline/customize reporting to meet all the reporting requirements.,,Sage 50 Accounting, QuickBooks PremierFund AccountingWe use MIP for all of our accounting needs; GL, AP, AR, Budget, and reporting.,It's the best fund accounting software that I've used. Accounts payable function. Accounts Recievable,I think there could be improvement in the budgeting functionality. Reporting doesn't exactly address our needs.,8,We have upward of 80 grants and contracts to manage and the fund accounting function is well suited to the volume of funds we use. Reporting and budgeting can be a challenge with this many funds.,iMISMIP friend or foe?Abila MIP Fund Accounting is used for our general ledger, financial statements, and financial reporting.,Very stable software, have had no problems with software operation It is easy to use and learn,Would like to see reporting options, lacks the ability to significantly modify reports Importing data should be easier, exporting to Excel is built in but importing is more difficult Should come with tutorials for first time users,8,Good customer service Reasonable annual maintenance Works well with fund accounting, yes, if can accommodate multiple funding sources and programs,,Altus Dynamics Donor Engage,10,1,Accounting Accounts payable Account receivable Financial statement prep,Email budget reports, interface with check request system,8,Yes,Price Product Features Product Usability Product Reputation,No,Don't know,Yes,Change management was a minor issue with the implementation,none,7,8,Yes,Helping develop import definition,Posting enties Exporting, modifying reports setting up import definitions,816 years with MIP and no plans to divorce! We began using MIP in 1999. It was the Tribe's first automated system. We use the General Ledger, Payroll, Forms Designer and Accounts Payable. We have 9 administrative users and about 30 executive view users. It is being used by most of the Tribal Government. It is used to generate financial statements on a tribal wide basis as well as program by program. It addresses the issue of all employees being able to see the status of their unique program at any point in time. This saves many trees. The response time for calling in to have issues addressed is about 30 minutes on a good day.,Provides up to date data on your financial situation. The software is very user friendly. The maintenance team is usually able to handle any problems.,Faster support time.,9,Used manual system before MIP. So faster and more accurate record keeping. Executive View allows all directors, coordinators to receive their status contemporaneously,Not non profit. Local government.,,Microsoft Access
