Currently using Blackbaud Financial Edge (we're a nonprofit) and I miss the ease and flexibility of QuickBooks Online. I've considered switching (downgrading?) to QBO, although we have needs that are unique to nonprofits. Not sure QBO could handle fund accounting very well.

I used NAV at a multi-million $, multi-location manufacturer... QBO could not come close to handling this.

We did not & have not considered any other options. We had another business that was already using this software so we decided to continue using QuickBooks Online with this business. In my opinion it is a bit pricey but as many people say "you get what you paid for!"

My wife uses a Google Docs spreadsheet for her sole proprietorship, mainly to track expenses. But if she ever expands her customer base beyond the one, I will have her switch to QuickBooks Online. A spreadsheet will not keep track of vendor details, inventory levels, or customer data. If you are serious about growing a business, QuickBooks Online works great and is the place to start.

Xero is very comparable to QuickBooks Online, they are both good systems. QuickBooks has more integrations, works better for construction in the U.S., and the price is right. There are thousands of resources online and pro advisors to help if you need anything. Typically any answers to questions can be found online.

Other software packages such as NetSuite and Intacct I used in the past are more robust in terms of supporting a bigger organization, but at my current company we selected QuickBooks Online as our ERP because it is a perfect fit for the size of the company and our operations as software as a service business. QuickBooks Online has all the basic functions we need as well as the reporting capabilities.

It is a platform that we consider to be mid-range. Where we are below cost and functionality relative to the more robust players like a SAP Business One, but still powerful enough for a medium or large size operation. In addition to being one of the few global solutions that meets the requirements of Mexican legislation.

Ultimately, QuickBooks/Intuit has the most market share when it comes to accounting software. The benefit of so many people using this software is that there's always an answer to a problem that you may be having when it comes to using the software. Intuit has provided a platform where users are able to ask questions and peers will answer those questions. This feature has helped me immensely whenever I'm having trouble with a particular transaction. Compared to QuickBooks Desktop, Desktop does have more features since it's a more mature product. However, Intuit is focusing on QuickBooks Online and will eventually catch up with Desktop. The ability to do the accounting from any computer has been incredibly useful. I've been able to do accounting when I'm out of the country or on vacation.

I tried Wave accounting but got lost in the configuration. Also, could not create similar reports. The cost is so small, that it simply made sense to subscribe for both my companies which provided the bonus of a consistent interface. Easy, effective, simple & low cost...what else is there?

NetSuite does more, but is expensive and difficult to implement and support, especially without a costly integrator. QuickBooks Online gets the job done at a good cost, provides most functionality that firms like mine need and much lesser cost.

We have not used any other software options. QuickBooks was the first one I was introduced to but had a difficult time with the desktop version then learned about the online and love that. It saves time from building excel documents and trying to create numerous reports. Really enjoy the online version because I can also access it anywhere.

While my experience with Xero is limited, QuickBooks Online and Premier versions both seem to be more polished overall. Xero's user interface is a bit more oqaque and clunkier, and Intuit just offers a more seamless experience with its QuickBooks products. However, pricing should be a heavy consideration here in this case.

I have used larger ERP systems like SAP and Netsuite which do offer a better solution however for the size of business (small) that is best fit for QuickBooks Online, it is a good tool to use. We selected this because its cloud bases, billed easy, low cost, and easy to learn.

QuickBooks pales in comparison to netsuite. Netsuite is a fully functional cloud based ERP system that is a mid tier solution for companies that have outgrown small business solutions. It was intuitive and allowed for full cycle accounting, procurement processing with requisitions, advanced approvals with delegatory permissions. QuickBooks was not a full company solution unlike netsuite. We were able to utilize netsuite across the board instead of only in accounting.

Enterprise is just a more robust form of Quickbooks. I've used both the online version and the desktop (installed) version. Overall, there's not too much of a noticeable difference here. I would highly recommend both but it's based on your needs.
