I use SurveyMonkey for our market research studies, getting our clients feedback on our services and for any new project to get the insights before we introduce the project to the public, it's very useful and user-friendly.
  • Building survey questions
  • Many options to distribute the survey
  • Analyzing the survey result
  • Building the survey could be easier when moving questions
  • Putting the questions in specific order takes some time, it can be easier in other softwares
When creating surveys, it's very userfriendly where you can copy from any where and paste it to edit on it, also sharing the survey is very easy, where you can create multiple links if you are targeting group of people where you need to divide your responses

Awesome Survey Tool!

We use SurveyMonkey to create and distribute various surveys to our employees to include feedback, DEI, exit questionnaires, etc. Prior to me using this software it was mainly used by our recruitment team, and I created surveys using MS Word. It was rather difficult to distribute surveys to our staff and collect the responses while ensuring identifiable information remained anonymous. We also struggled to get employees to take the time needed to complete them. Since acquiring SurveyMonkey, the process has been streamlined and it has made a world of difference even in the responses that we receive.
  • Keeps identifiable information anonymous.
  • Being able to close the survey at a set time without having to remember to do so.
  • Takes the guess work out of response collecting.
  • Makes it easy to categorize responses within the same survey. Being able to add tags to open-ended questions makes it easy for us to identify patterns in responses.
  • An array of survey options and questions.
  • An all around great product that meets multiple needs.
  • Can have multiple collectors for the same survey to included manual input.
  • Survey designs. I would like if it offered more options design wise.
  • Can be difficult to navigate but easy to use for the most part.
SurveyMonkey is best suited for you if you find that you are creating multiple survey regularly. It offers a variety of questions and options and is a well-rounded surveying tool. It is not best if you do not create surveys often, typically use the same survey, or looking for software to create quizzes or assessments. Also, if you are easily overwhelmed by too many options, this may not be the tool for you.

We were going to use SurveyMonkey to survey our members. As we're volunteer-run, we use free services. SurveyMonkey is bottom-feeding money-grabbing wasters. Their free product only allows 10 results - this was not made clear (and was certainly not the previous situation) when signing up. To now see the additional results we either have to pay over £100 or ask our members to take to time to fill out the survey again on a platform not run by thieves. Not even a free trial period to at least get these results.

I feel that one of the strengths of Survey Monkey is its ability to function in a variety of ways for different levels of users. We use Qualtrics surveys for the vast majority of our organizational needs. Qualtrics is a feature-heavy and robust platform that we have been working with for some time. With that being said many users find the interface too intimidating and prefer to use Survey Monkey. There are people that are familiar with using Survey Monkey outside of the work environment so already have some skill developed on how to create a survey, extract the results, and comprehend the metrics. We largely use Survey Monkey to meet the needs of these users. That isn't to say that in comparison Survey Monkey is featureless and lacks robustness, it isn't. It is a quick, simple, straightforward platform and there is a segment of our populous that appreciates that.
  • Allows you to collect responses quickly and easily.
  • Gives you tools to analyze your results.
  • Has tools to customize design elements and branding.
  • Creates PDF of the results for viewing offline.
  • Has flexible pricing models.
  • I find the dashboard a little intimidating and too clustered.
  • The name of the product sounds so childish and unprofessional.
  • You will need to unsubscribe from their email communications after you create an account.
Frankly, just based on the name alone I dislike using Survey Monkey for use with our external clients. Qualtrics seem better suited and more professional for those situations. Survey Monkey works really well for creating quick surveys that you want responses for over a short period of time that doesn't require a lot of analysis and follow-up with non-participants. I don't like that Survey Monkey advertises for themselves at the end of every survey so that is another reason I do not like them for higher stakes used. If you just want to aggregate opinion and take a temperature check on something Survey Monkey is a great way to do that.

We use SurveyMonkey on occasion to administer client satisfaction surveys. In the past, we've also used it for employee satisfaction. It's a very user-friendly application that enables us to quickly create custom questions in a variety of formats and offers solutions for easy analysis of results. It also enables anonymous participation.
  • User friendly interface
  • Good options for customizability in terms of questions format and logic
  • Decent branding and design options
  • Good interface for tracking, notifying survey participants, and analysis
  • More design customizability would be nice
Survey Monkey is certainly the industry leader for the custom online survey space. For general clients or employees, the survey needs to use common question formats like multiple-choice, short answer, long answer, ranking, etc., it fits most use cases. For UX research where you're looking for more web design-specific feedback, there are probably some better tools available.

We're currently using it weekly to survey our new hires about their experience. This provides us with valuable insight into what's happening with our new hires, and also provides us with the ability to see trends in their experiences. We also will use adhoc to survey the rest of our company. It provides a trustworthy and confidential way to run surveys.
  • Confidentiality
  • Analytics
  • Personalization
  • Being able to send reminders to just individuals, not an entire group.
  • Being able to sort recipients by date sent.
SurveyMonkey is perfect when we want to ensure that employees can provide honest confidential feedback; when we've used other free providers in the past, they do not always feel confident that their identities are being withheld. SurveyMonkey is also perfect for when you want to be provided with graphics about the data you've received, this saves you time from having to do so manually. I cannot think of a time when it's not appropriate to use SurveyMonkey.

We use SurveyMonkey across our organization for external website forms and internal polling needs. It's an easy to use software to collect multiple responses from multiple parties for multiple scenarios. We are in the process of switching to Titan Forms or Wufoo for our external forms as Titan Forms can sync with our database and Wufoo has better payment integration.
  • User-friendly
  • Good at gathering feedback
  • Lots of templates
  • Not as robust as other survey programs
  • Need to pay for premium subscription to access advanced features
  • Doesn't integrate as well as other survey programs
SurveyMonkey is an easy to use program when you are needing to collect and organize feedback or data points from individuals. My biggest con with SurveyMonkey is that its another login/password you have to remember. Personally, I've switched to using Google Forms since its already synced with my Gmail account. Professionally, we've been using more and more of Wufoo and transitioning to Titan Forms as they have more capabilities and automatically tie in with other software that we are using, which makes it easier for tracking purposes. If you just need a simple survey software then SurveyMonkey will meet your needs.

As a consultant to nonprofit organizations, I use Survey Monkey to gauge stakeholder opinions on controversial issues like homelessness. I use the product to design and solicit participation in online opinion polling.
  • It's easy to use. The process of writing, editing, and formatting surveys is extremely fun.
  • It allows for easy mailing out of questionnaires to respondents through either links or direct mailing. It can manage products for you.
  • It makes analysis of results amazingly easy and creates appealing graphics.
  • My biggest problem is customer service. I made an error. I purchased an expensive option - cross tabs - at $900 and realized (too late) that I didn't need it. When I tried to get my money back and "return" the product, I was greeted with no sympathy. They said, "You signed the agreement."
Survey monkey is great. However, they cost me $900 for something I didn't need. It was my error, but they didn't make any allowance or accommodation. [I believe] they were heartless and rude.

We developed 360 evaluations for our team using SurveyMonkey. The software made it easy for us to email the survey to each team member and really gave us some valuable insight from our team. We have also used SurveyMonkey for pulse points on our team's overall engagement with our hospital. We also used SurveyMonkey to develop surveys with our clients to determine interest in various products/services.
  • SurveyMonkey templates have made it very user-friendly. It is very efficient to create a survey.
  • I love that they have multiple ways to answer questions. For example, short answer, paragraph, and radio buttons to name a few.
  • The surveys are very easy to share. You can import a large list of email addresses or free type just a few.
  • I like that you can test the survey before sending it out live. I send it to myself to verify how it will look and feel to the end-user.
  • I would like to have more customizable options for branding it to our hospital colors. Some survey options allow you to enter html color codes. SurveyMonkey allows you to change colors and you have to pick from selected options.
  • Embedding the surveys into a webpage, like WordPress is not as seamless as other services.
We have been able to utilize SurveyMonkey in a variety of ways for our hospital. We conducted internal staff polling and 360 reviews. We also utilized it for larger projects by sending out surveys to a large list of clients. I have used SurveyMonkey in both large and small organizations and it seems to fit well. The price point is great too, there is a lot of options in the free version and for a small fee small businesses have the same capabilities as larger organizations.

I used [SurveyMonkey] to set up a survey for limited use in a non-profit organization and was surprised when the survey responses topped more than 40 that I could not access the results. This was not made clear when I was setting up the survey. I had used SurveyMonkey in the past with my organization, however it had switched over to another platform. I formerly trusted SurveyMonkey.
  • Easy to set up survey questions
  • More and more features are moving to paid functionality
If you are going to use extremely frequently [SurveyMonkey] may be worth it; but if you are a smaller user, beware of their marketing practices and negative optioning.

SurveyMonkey is mainly being used to solicit feedback and to gain opinions from stakeholders and consumers in research and insights work. Usually it's to understand consumer behaviors and to gain alignment from across the organization. I would say it's a tool that easily allows for an easy survey to be programmed and fielded. I'm in marketing and communications.
  • Easy to program.
  • Navigation.
  • Lack of flexibility.
  • Difficult to program more elegant surveys.
I think there are better options out there. If you're in the process of looking for survey tools, you should look into a variety of SurveyMonkey's competitors before making a decision on what to buy.

We use SurveyMonkey for several different applications in our organization. First, we use it as a primary research tool when the project is smaller in scope and doesn't require the engagement of a full research team. Second, we use it as a tool to generate potentially newsworthy statistics that can be used as the basis for a media pitch or as a support point to illustrate an important aspect of the story.
  • SurveyMonkey's survey programming features are extremely intuitive. Someone who has never used it before can, with little direction or training, easily set up a simple - or comprehensive - survey in a matter of minutes.
  • Real-time reporting and analytics tools are extremely helpful to keep everyone involved informed on an ongoing basis.
  • Virtually any kind of question or answer format can be programmed into your SurveyMonkey survey.
  • Recognizing that there are more limitations when it comes to a mobile interface vs. a desktop interface, I would love to see more profound levels of programming functionality on the mobile side.
  • It would be helpful to have better access to greater levels of third-party results analysis, particularly as it relates to open-ended questions and answers.
  • As an admin, it would be very cool if SurveyMonkey were able to use AI to match the survey we're building (questions, topics, target respondents, etc.) to existing results that might negate the need to ask certain questions in our surveys.
SurveyMonkey is a high-value, cost-effective solution when you need to generate more basic levels of research that can be used for a wide variety of applications across the organization. If I can avoid the cost, aggravation and time it takes to engage a third-party research firm and use a tool like SurveyMonkey to generate what I need, I will do so.

We have used SurveyMonkey both internally with staff, and externally with previous and current clients to capture data on performance, and experience. It allows us to collect data in an efficient way, with reports that are easy to navigate, and allow us to see an overview of data, but also dial in to specifics.
  • Easy to build surveys
  • Simple to navigate as a user taking a survey
  • Easy to read data collection
  • A little more flexibility in reviewing data points
  • More customization options are always a plus
SurveyMonkey is a great tool to collect data in a variety of scenarios. It can be used internally as a tool for employee engagement and feedback. It is also great for quality assurance with past and present clients. It's ease of access, and extensive options for building surveys make it a tool worth utilizing.

SurveyMonkey is being used across our organization to conduct market research and gather customer feedback. It is also used to gather employee feedback within the organization by filing out surveys that are shared across teams. Whether simple or complex surveys are created within minutes and reaching millions of respondents to collect and analyze data has become hassle free through SurveyMonkey.
  • A wide question bank that offers customization questions of different types such as market research, customer satisfaction, employee feedback, demographics etc.
  • The surveys can be customized to match our brand by adding the company logo, company name and images.
  • One handy URL to collect responses from millions of respondents.
  • More options to customize the look of the surveys for a full custom branding
  • They should be able to offer live support within their site for faster communication with users.
SurveyMonkey is appropriate for creating online surveys from scratch and even while on the go that are used to access a huge number of respondents who provide answers that are needed to make critical decisions. There is an option of using a URL that can be linked to the company website, Facebook account, emails and more.

We use SurveyMonkey at very specific moments, It is not an everyday tool for me, but without a doubt a very important one at the right time. As a designer, I'm constantly trying to reach out to what our customers think about new features, implementations, and also to collect information when starting a new project.
  • Great template options
  • Responsive and great user interface
  • Data display
  • A monthly subscription requires a minimum of three users at $25 per user. As I already said that this is not an everyday tool, it turns out to be a very expensive tool.
  • The basic plan is limited to 10 questions.
  • The collected data dashboards are not as beautiful as they could be.
Highly recommended for research, questionnaires, customer satisfaction, employee's opinion, discovering trends, etc. Because it is a specific software for research and data collection, anything that is related to it does very well.

  • Ease-of-use
  • Template design
  • Shareable links
  • Reporting could be more intuitive
  • More question options
  • Number of user "seats" per account
SurveyMonkey is very intuitive and easy to use when you need a quick survey and a convenient way to send it to others.
There are a number of templates available, and the option to design your own survey from scratch.
SurveyMonkey makes it easy to share a survey with others inside or outside of your organization, via link.

We specifically use SurveyMonkey to get quick and easy feedback from employees. For example, discussions around future work from home opportunities throughout the pandemic, willingness to participate in different culture committee events, and general feedback on technology roll outs. We use it as needed as opposed to something on a regular basis.
  • Quick.
  • Easy.
  • User friendly.
  • Security - I haven't spent much time exploring their security, but by default would not put sensitive information in any of the surveys.
  • Notifications - I think the logistics of setting up notifications as a survey creator are a little clunky.
It's appropriate to get quick, short responses from employees/end users. There are great options for varied answer types (i.e. multiple choice, drop downs, text responses) that allow it to suit most needs. I think the most important thing is to keep surveys as concise as possible in order to solicit the best responses.

SurveyMonkey has been used to provide surveys to users of software applications developed by our company. It is currently only used by the Software Development Department. It provides a turnkey solution for putting together comprehensive surveys and questions, and the full lifecycle and feedback loop for those questions and the users that answer them. It also provides comprehensive statistics on the results of the surveys deployed.
  • Allows users to build surveys, including custom survey questions and/or survey templates for common applications.
  • Provides a wide variety of distribution methods and means of collecting answers.
  • Provides comprehensive results including graphs and diagrams that help interpret the results.
  • Friendly reminders to help target audiences complete their survey.
  • Customized survey forms that can include company branding/style.
  • Wide variety of survey methods/question types (i.e. scale of 1 to 10, multiple answers, etc.)
  • Simple surveys are free to design and deploy, but more sophisticated options require payment.
SurveyMonkey provides really simple tools to build, deploy, and interpret any kind of survey. It even provides suggestions and analyzes questions posed in your surveys to make sure it fits your strategy and goal towards interpreting results. It offers a wide variety of business categories to choose from in order to develop specific, well-targeted surveys for the appropriate audience. It's a complete, turn-key, solution for building and managing surveys and obtaining the feedback you need.

My organization uses SurveyMonkey for B2C clients to survey current and potential customers to gauge interest in possible expansions to the product line or preferred versions of new product packaging; for B2B clients, we use SurveyMonkey to do occasional check-ins with customers to make sure their needs/our services are aligned, and also to get feedback on events to make them more impactful the next time around.
  • Intuitive survey-building interface with many possible question types
  • Allows to pay for targeted survey respondents if you don't have audience already
  • Multiple methods for distributing services, makes easy to disseminate
  • Not enough on the design-customization side to fully brand surveys in the way you'd always want to
  • Pricing models are not always well-fitted to business needs or company size
  • Customer service can be subpar
If you reach the stage in the decision-making process where you have a number of possible right answers before you, SurveyMonkey is well-suited to collecting data that'll help you make a more informed decision. For example, my agency will use SurveyMonkey to send out possible packaging-and-label designs for a forthcoming product to an audience of our client's most loyal customers, and thereby find out which packaging concepts are the most likely to hit home with our target audience.

We use SurveyMonkey to survey our partners, primarily. We are a grant-making organization and work with over 100 different nonprofits. SurveyMonkey helps us achieve insights into their needs, their context, their service areas, etc. It helps us to gather data in a quick manner and evaluate it- rather than having just 1 call at a time with our partners.
  • Variety of questions
  • Data analysis
  • Easy to Use
  • Have to upgrade for certain questions.
  • Not very collaborative.
  • Hard to access results later, especially with a different membership.
If you are constantly issuing surveys, and you do more in-depth analyses of those results, SurveyMonkey might be better for you. Especially because a paid membership has more functionalities. If you're just issuing a handful of surveys a year, you might suggest you go with either SurveyMonkey's free option or Google Forms.

SurveyMonkey has been used in multiple ways- to gather various data, to assess what is the best time for a meeting, to find the opinions on a class, [etc.] I don't believe it is used by everyone, some use other survey sites, but this is the first one that I was introduced to at work. It's very easy to use and is great for getting information from faculty, staff, or students.
  • User friendly - it's very easy to use and intuitive, it takes you step by step through making the survey you want.
  • It's nice and clean - it has a nice clean look, nothing too distracting, easy for the survey taker to use.
  • Even the free option is very helpful - even if you don't pay for an account, the free option gives you much leeway into making a survey that can fit your needs.
  • I think it's becoming pushed to the back-burner as more survey sites come out - it needs to come up with something to keep it more relevant as other survey sites are being more widely used.
  • Give more options to customize the look of your survey.
I've used it for gathering data to find the best meeting time for employees. It's very simple to use, you just have to get everyone it's sent to to participate. It's nice after you have received the responses to be able to view the data. It was always nice and clear and easy for me to see which was the time that was most desired for meetings. While I mostly used it for that scenario, it really could be used very broadly as you can make any kind of survey you'd like.

We are a small marketing firm that cannot afford to use the "high-priced" survey tools. We like to use SurveyMonkey to test out concepts for our clients and prospects as well as learn more about a specific market or industry without spending our limited funds on a research tool. It's great at providing a quick snapshot of a product or service.
  • It's very cost-effective.
  • It's very intuitive.
  • Very robust with features like data analysis, skip logic, etc.
  • More complex questions are a bit of a challenge to format in the software.
  • While it does have a ton of free features - It would be nice if they could add a few of the premium (paid) features to the free version.
  • The fact that their logo appears on the survey is a bit disconcerting, but I think many folks have come to accept this.
This is a great tool if you are looking for directional research on a project. Survey Monkey has so many templates of surveys that are professionally built and designed. The questions that are in the templates are diverse, educated and are all designed with the purpose of the survey in mind. Each question in the templates have their own purpose and is important for the bottom line.

Having used SurveyMonkey many years ago, it was my go to tool for a recent survey to members of a not for profit sports club that I captain.
  • Reasonably easy to setup a survey with answers provided using various mechanisms
  • Good reporting on survey results
  • Deceptive business practices
  • "Free basic" version is promoted on site but details on limitations difficult to find
  • Very expensive and not suitable for the likes of a community sports club wanting to do a one off survey of members.
For small organizations and community not-for profits, I would suggest SurveyMonkey is not at all suitable. It is expensive, and be very careful about investing any of your time in the "free" version which is essentially a trap.

SurveyMonkey may be suited to larger corporations who frequently produce surveys, however there are many other accessible and competing options available these days that make a dedicated survey site like SurveyMonkey far less relevant.

If you are thinking of using the free service, think twice. Using the free version you will find you can create your survey with all sorts of components, but then having invested the time, when you go to publish it you will be met with a payment request for the "premium" features you have used in your form. Once you manage to publish a form with only free features, you will then be solicited for paid enhancements for result analysis. Next you will find that your survey has a limit of 40 responses, and any extra results will be withheld unless you upgrade to a paid plan (which is billed annually), or you can pay an exorbitant amount for a 1 month membership. Our club would have been happy to pay a small fee for our one off, small survey, but Survey Monkey does not appear to be interested in this market space with their current structure. I also take issue with their deceptive approach to their "free" offering and will now avoid them in my professional capacity as well.
