We use Klaviyo for email and SMS marketing. Switched from Mailchimp and Attentive in order to combine email & SMS into a single platform. Have been very happy with it. The email builder is significantly better and faster than MailChimps, and some of the scheduling and segmentation features are far superior as well. Nice to be able to create flows that combine email & SMS based on user engagement and preferences.

Excellent for email & SMS combined, more efficient email builder (fast, responsive, drag & drop even from desktop directly into email body, etc), can create a segment based on future actions (like creating a dynamic segment for non-opens of a campaign that hasn't been sent yet, so I can schedule the original email and followup email in advance, whereas in Mailchimp I had to wait until the original email was sent before I could create the non-open segment.)

We used it bring in data from the website then trigger automated flows from their behavior. We like the easy configuration of the email and SMS pop-ups to capture opt-ins. We also use this for ad hoc email campaigns and their templates to help easily build emails. The help documentation is very useful and easily searchable making the system easy to learn and use.

It's easy to configure and set-up from the automated flows to the email templates. You don't necessarily need to be an HTML expert or engineer to use this. It may not necessarily be as suited for complex data architectures where data flows from multiple streams.

I use Klaviyo for both email and text message marketing. It houses all of my welcome flows, discounts, and monthly campaigns throughout the year.

We use it to manage our newsletter subscription base and to send our weekly newsletter. It allows us to create segments and measure results for different clusters of customers for different campaigns. It allows us to make better decisions in term of how we acquire the subscribers and how to reach them to get the best results.

It is very well suited to create automated flows for users that might not respond quickly to email. It allows the user to filter based off the user's behaviors in past emails, so it's easy to follow up with them. It's maybe not perfect if you want to experiment too much with email templates.

Klaviyo is a great solution for our ecommerce business as it allows us to stay in contact with customers and build relationships with them. We are able to segment into specific or general lists and give personalised emails to our subscribers. We use it for both campaigns (one off emails) and flows which allow us to target people when they first sign up, remind them of their interest when they leave a cart abandoned or anything else we can think of!

  • Support and help team very responsive
  • The image quality you are able to upload can be a bit low, would love crisper GIFs and images to be allowed to upload
  • Easier way to clean up and clear out inactive users
  • Two way data sync between Klaviyo and Shopify (tags and such) as I believe it is a one way system as of now
Klaviyo is really built for converting so if you are sending informational content either to your subscribers or internal comms, it is better to look elsewhere. If you send an email of this kind, people will not click and purchase and it will bring down your overall analytics to seem like your click-through, purchase values, etc. rates are low. Klaviyo is great however at flows and getting people engaged when they first subscribe or take certain actions (browse abandonment, cart abandonment, welcome series, etc.)

We use it for automated flows for promotions and new customers. We also send email and SMS Campaigns for new product launches, customer service, and some testing for our products. We use it to send customers notifications about new launches in our shop, promotions, and special discounts. We use it to service more than 50,000 subscribers to our mailing list on a weekly basis.

It's awesome for creating automated SMS flows for promotions and email campaigns are a breeze. We use quite a lot as well to create tests with different groups of customers. Sometimes it's hard to create the design for email campaigns and you have to fiddle a bit with HTML content, especially for images but it's always manageable for the team.

The perfect email platform for e-commerce. We use Klaviyo to support our e-commerce marketing efforts. We are a small team, but Klaviyo allows us to have a big impact. It seamlessly integrates with Shopify, makes automating marketing actions simple, and allows us to quickly and easily build great emails and forms. Adding SMS support was a major plus, as well.

  • Some external integrations create overly long profile property names (e.g. Typeform). It seems like this breaks the ability to dynamically insert these properties in emails. It'd be nice to be able to specify the property names for each external form field, or a custom keyword to insert those property values in emails.
In my mind, Klaviyo is best suited for e-commerce marketing. Using it for B2B style marketing could be tricky. That said, it is very flexible and could be used in a similar way to Salesforce or HubSpot, but those platforms' more robust CRM capabilities make them better suited for B2B marketing uses.

We use Klaviyo for a wide variety of customer retention and nurturing aspects of our business, from email to SMS. Klaviyo is an excellent software that allows us to build lists and segments to effectively target customers who we think will respond best to different campaigns and flows. Love everything about it.

We utilize Klaviyo for campaign sends and automated flows. Our abandoned cart and replenishment flows are extremely helpful in regaining and retaining customers and sales.

  • there should be functionality to show the over email size before sending, to ensure emails aren't cut off at the end
Though waiting in a live chat could take a while depending on the day and time, in any instance, I've spoken with a customer service representative they have been so clear and helpful! I would recommend Klaviyo solely on their customer service value which is incredible. Sending so many campaigns can really get cluttered, so organizationally it could improve on UX.

The marketing department uses Klaviyo, as well as customer service in some instances. We use it for sales emails, newsletters, customer interactions, and notifications. It uses integrations with Shopify, Recharge, and Yotpo and has been great for retargeting past and new customers. Definitely helpful with keeping in touch with our database without a need to constantly manage it with the use of flows.

It does well for us as a small/medium size company. Their support is great and the price point is manageable. Klaviyo helps us managing campaigns and email automations. It has an easy to use email template designer, which is well integrated with email flows. We also heavily use the custom properties in user profile with segments to accurately target customers. With Klaviyo, we can setup marketing strategies up front and it will do what we want at the right time!

If you have many customers and you are trying to email a specific group of people (e.g. those who purchased product A in recent weeks), you may make use of custom properties to save this information in Klaviyo and then use segment to create a user group. As the segment is dynamic, the same user can enter the segment many times as long the rules are matched, this is very helpful for birthday offers or upsell. Overall, I am satisfied with the features Klaviyo provides to us, I would hope they can provide more features via API and allow us to export user data via API - for reporting purposes.

We use Klaviyo for all of our email marketing. From sending promotion and announcement emails to all of our emails follow-ups with customers. The workflows are simple and easy to use, also easy to track conversions at a glance. We are a very small team and Klaviyo is perfect for us. I think that as we grow Klaviyo will still always be a part of our organization. If I could dedicate an entire department to email marketing I'm very confident that Klaviyo will be able to do everything we ask of it and more.

We use Klaviyo for SMS and email marketing. We had been using Mailchimp and it was not detailed enough and didn't give us enough customer information. The date we get from Klaviyo is so helpful and helps us make decisions for both our marketing and sales. It is also fairly easy to use though there were some glitches at the beginning.

  • We wish we were able to have video play instantly in the images

Klaviyo is well suited for discovering real data on your customers on your site and in your marketing campaigns. The granular detail is unparalleled. For example, you can even see how many times a customer has been on your site, what they are looking at, and where they came from. Which emails performed the best, which links in the emails were used, which one made people unsubscribe? It's all there. I was not expecting to find it so easy to use but it is. We wish there were more design elements available but we use Canva to do this so it's fine.

We use Klaviyo to increase our customers LTV (lifetime value) and get them to consistently reorder from us through both SMS and email marketing, and the Klaviyo flows makes this really easy and automated because we have flows set up for every stage that a customer can possibly be at our funnel and it basically generates us revenue on autopilot.

Klaviyo is a really awesome tool that combines both email and SMS marketing to maximize revenue and make sure that we can reach our customers and communicate our offers at the lowest cost possible, in my opinion, it's the best solution for retention because CPMs on paid ads platforms are getting more expensive every day and customers feed are more crowded than ever so email and SMS is the best and cheapest way to reach them.

We work with large variety of small to medium sized businesses to build dynamic email marketing programs with a full array of automations, email campaigns at regular cadences, and list segmentation. It integrates with Shopify and Big Commerce which are the main platforms we support and helps us to automate revenue and engagement for our clients.

For eCommerce, it's a really nice package. From store integrations, a/b testing, dynamic content, to form captures, it's a strong solution for managing a growing email program. There are some instances where it won't allow you to use certain data with personalized fields or triggers.

We used Klavio as a CRM tool for email promotions, Marketing automation, SMS messaging, and list management. This tool was issued by the entire marketing department. Klaviyo solved many business problems. Firstly it helped to drive repeat purchases of products by connecting with existing customers. It also helps with new customer acquisition by activating prospect emails with their first order. Finally, Klavio also supported our customer service team by providing ways of providing (email, automated responses and SMS) product information and user content to customers. This reduced calls to our customer service team.
  • Email automation that nurtured new prospects with education and promotion content.
  • List segmentation. We could segment our list by behavior, purchase history and by demographics. This gave us more views into the customer segmentation.
  • Promotion emails. the high delivery rate of Flash sales, discounts, and promotions that drove sales
  • SMS messaging. We could time SMS messaging to be aligned with email promotion to give a more omni marketing approach to CRM
  • Reporting. Klavio provided excellent reporting by campaign and marketing period. It was able to track open rate, CTR, conversion and revenue.
  • Creative Management. Klavio allowed us to store graphics from previous campaigns and use them in future marketing efforts
  • Campaign Builder. the email builder mechanism is outstanding allowing for graphic, text, shapes and images all to be incorporated in HTML emails
  • Testing. The AB testing function allowed for campaign optimization
  • More improvements to the graphics management so that it would be easier to resize images.
  • More templated for the campaign builder
  • Automation. more decision points to break off from standard automation flows.
Klaviyo is well suited for anyone that uses Shopify. It is integrated with ShopifyKlaviyo very easily and can be appropriate for both large and small companies. I think Klaviyo is less appropriate for integration with home-grown websites because the data exchange would require custom coding. I also think that Klavio is appropriate for marketing teams with a modest budget, as it is not very expensive. It also does not require a lot of development support.

We use Klayvio as our preferred email platform and we use it for customer attribution. Klayvio automates a lot of our email and SMS communication and it also integrates very easily with our website BigCommerce. Klayvio is very simple to use and is very mobile-friendly. It is so nice that it links to our product catalog. Emails that used to take hours only take minutes now.

The Klaviyo product facilitated all of the marketing, promotion, and announcement communications for the company. They were instrumental in hitting business goals for new customer acquisitions, upsell, cross-sell, & retention as well as reactivated customers. We were able to create automated customer journeys that handled all meaningful segmentations for us. Enabled us to nurture leads and drive them further down the funnel, increasing our conversion rates, and increasing our average order value. The Klaviyo product is also seamlessly integrated into our e-commerce platform.
  • Driving leads with their pop-up product, very easy in turn on and begin generating leads from our site traffic
  • Connecting to our e-commerce platform to make repeat purchases a reliable revenue stream
  • Automated customer journeys are quick and simple to setup to get going on initial projects and seeing early traction
  • They offer an image editing tool that while it functional is not the best place if you need to do anything beyond cropping
  • The image library and actually using it to quickly create templates can be a bit frustrating to use and while it helps it doesn't save all that much time
  • Overall data analysis can be a little lacking so exporting and creating separate spreadsheets is a must
Klaviyo is a perfect solution for SMB with an e-commerce presence - extra points if you're using Shopify. It's built to seamlessly integrate with the product and if you're ready to automate your communications to future, current, or past customers this will give you all the tools to grow. They just only send emails and offer a variety of channels to connect with your audience in the right channel at the right time. I would hesitate to recommend them for non-commerce brands as it's really built for that and not really a viable B2B solution or for larger enterprise-level companies.

We use Klaviyo as our primary means of email marketing for both of our brands. The only department that uses Klaviyo is our marketing department since it is strictly a marketing oriented tool. Klaviyo is a reasonably priced alternative to the higher cost ESP we moved over from. It does make things easy with it's "drag and drop" style interface but with that there are limitations. Prior to using Klaviyo, we were building all of our emails in HTML using Dreamweaver and another ESP. This was great because we could fully customize everything however it took longer. With Klaviyo things seem to move faster but customization is a bit limited.

  • The drag and drop interface is easy for anyone to jump in and use - no special knowledge of coding is necessary
  • This is our first holiday season using Klaviyo. It seems like their system does get overwhelmed at times with pages that don't load or even images in emails that have been sent not loading.
  • Klaviyo does allow you to insert custom HTML however we have not found it useful. The code we enter in the custom HTML box sometimes doesn't render correctly in the final send.
  • One HUGE thing about Klaviyo is the fact that is clips your message when viewed in gmail if it has too many links. Klaviyo adds a TON of extra tracking info to the ends of links inserted into emails so it causes the file size to go up. Once the file size limit is met, gmail starts clipping the bottom of your messages causing consumers to miss much of your message unless they click the link at the bottom of their email to view more. This is a major flaw in my opinion.
It seems as though Klaviyo is better suited to a company that is just starting out. One where emails aren't really expected to look overly polished and professional and where they aren't sending at high rates. Klaviyo's features and functionality are more limiting than other ESPs I've used before but for the price I suppose you get what you pay for.
