Time management and Payroll, with some HR employee review and things like that. Hosting an erp with multiple various business modules and hassel of configuring it.
  • Business Intelligence reporting module has an awesome reporting model preset, which allow over 50% of basic reporting already done for you.
  • Ultipro's time management portal is simplified over the year and very easy to adapt. Which is the most frequently page. Other features we well designed under their own categories.
  • Tech support for Ultipro is well informed and knowledgable, I have interacted with them over many reporting and design issues and never disappointed.
  • Ultipro can definitely made the Browser support much more dynamic, especially be able to roll out compatible viewing as fast as new Browsers come out, with cloud systems Users will and do use these portal from various devices, so that would be a great boost to its offerings.
  • More module availability with ipad and iphone. Ability to submit support case not only via browser by also via mobile phones and tablets.
Ultipro is well suited for any organization that has offices across multiple cities. It reduces the headache of managing apps and roll out of them as Ultipro is cloud.

Less appropriate would be the BI module where time management and payroll management does not interact with each other. that would be something of great importance for reporting folks.

UltiPro is our HCM vendor used for all HR/payroll and benefits within our organization. Ultimate is used by all members of our organization because employees use it for making benefit elections and during annual enrollment when changing their personal information, etc.

[It's] one single platform for all HR business functions.

  • Our support team is wonderful. They are always available to answer our questions. No question is too big or small for them. They never make you feel like a bother.
  • The platform itself once you've completed configuration during implementation is very easy to use. They keep with the times and make semi-annual updates.
  • Ultimate is willing to listen to your ideas and during the semi-annual releases will tell you whether this was a user idea or not.
  • Sometimes system configuration can be a little bit limited. System configurable fields aren't always usable.
  • Many times Ultimate only thinks inside of the box, they don't think outside or try to come up with ideas on how to make things work. One of the BEST things about Ultimate is the Customer Success Portal because you can talk with other Ultimate users to come up with ideas on how to make things work.
UltiPro is well suited for all payroll and benefit related activities.

UltiPro is being used by the human resources department mostly. Our entire organization uses it for time keeping, PTO requests, etc. It helps ensure employees are paid on time and accurately.
  • Reporting - There are so many reports that have already been built and also so many options for configuring and extracting your own data from the system.
  • Pay - UltiPro's payroll software is amazing. I am the payroll backup for our company and it is very simple to step in and be able to process payroll.
  • Customer Representatives - every individual I have spoken to is always so friendly.
  • Flexible - UltiPro is so flexible and always changing and advancing their product to make it better for both those that use it to process payroll, benefit changes, but also for our employees.
  • Benefit Life Events and Open Enrollment - The ability to have more configuration of these two modules would be nice.
  • In Life Events and Open Enrollment it would be great on the status pages to also include employees locations, etc., similar to when you search for the employees in Employee Admin.
  • Unable to see the current benefit amount within benefits - you have to go into the deduction to view the current amount.
UltiPro is fantastic at payroll and pretty good at benefits. There are some struggles related to COBRA qualifying events for when dependents drop from a plan, but overall I am relatively pleased with the product. The ACA services were amazing this past year and UltiPro really assisted in ensuring a successful first year for our ACA transmission to the IRS.

Our company uses UltiPro across our whole organization to manage our HRIS, employee self service and payroll systems. We are able to easily manage and maintain employee information across multiple locations with many users. The reporting functions on UltiPro are also very useful and help us maintain compliance and efficiency within our organization.
  • Reporting functions are very comprehensive and can be built to your liking.
  • Ease of use for employees to manage their own information. Very user friendly.
  • Managing employee information is simple for HR.
  • Scheduling feature could be improved to better accommodate those with multiple shifts.
  • Password settings are sometimes difficult for those with little computer knowledge.
  • Onboarding features. Looking forward to the upgrade coming.
We have had a very good experience with UltiPro to date. The only thing that has been challenging from my perspective has been the scheduling piece. We have multiple shifts and locations and are not able to utilize the scheduling piece for staffing or keeping track of attendance. We are still having to manually track attendance due to this feature not being able to meet our needs.

We use UltiPro for Payroll, HR database and Recruitment. We also have dabbled in BI and Performance Management and would like to get up to speed with salary planning and budgeting. It is primarily used by HR and payroll but all employees have access and a few managers make use of it more than others.
  • Payroll is fast, easy, and accurate.
  • Time and Attendance are very easy to work with an integrate so perfectly with payroll
  • Recruitment is great as it keeps our hiring organized and is so nice to hire someone and have already captured all their information
  • Performance management is very cumbersome to set up and tough to roll out to supervisors when they have not had access to the implementation training
  • Have never really been able to get salary planning and budgeting used
  • Would love to have the directory pictures bigger and more functional
  • Would like more guidance on setting up a meaningful and fun homepage for employees
I think it works best when a company can throw a variety of resources at implementation. It was tough as a one man show at the time.

Woodforest utilizes UltiPro as our employee system of record, for payroll purposes and Onboarding. This system is used company wide; however, is administered by the HR, Benefit, Payroll teams and myself. All employee demographic information is updated by the employee themselves and if necessary sent through an approval process which includes our HR, Benefit and Payroll Teams. Any Job related updates are entered by the Manager or One Up Manager of the employee and then sent through an approval process that is determined by the business process; this approval process also includes our HR, Benefit and Payroll Teams.
  • Serves as a system of record.
  • Intuitive for employees.
  • Would like for workflow approvers to have the ability to update requests during the approval process instead of having to deny the request and ask the manager to reenter. The old and new values should also be available.
  • Would like for employee supervisor to be updated automatically to the next level manager when their manager is terminated in the system.
  • Would like for the business process email notifications to be configurable by request type.
  • For example, we would like to add verbiage to the email notification sent when a Termination is entered that reminds managers to complete certain steps and to confiscate all company equipment, etc. from the employee before they leave the location.

Prior to putting UltiPro in place, our organization did not have a consolidated HCM system. We decided we needed a tool set to provide a solution for our entire organization, from stores, to distributions and corporate offices. Our main focus was to standardize the way we collected time, tracked PTO and maintain records on employees. We also needed a way to eliminate duplicate entry from recruiting and onboarding as well as remove the need for each location to manage balances and attendance via "some manual and creative method". We were also sold on the idea of a SaaS model as we needed to keep our technology footprint at a minimum.
  • Limiting the need for IT resources post implementation.
  • Standardized employee details, history and job data.
  • Easy user interface on many areas of the system.
  • Manages tax regulations for payroll, which is a big deal for us as we have 110+ locations across the US and growing.
  • Presented versus actual integration are not the same. Integration across modules needs great improvement.
  • BI Reporting difficult as modules are not able to be queried from a single reporting interface. Each module has it's own access point or data view. Joining data requires custom effort and is problematic at that.
  • Implementation and cross module support is spotty as there is little cross over in their support and implementation teams. Better collaboration is needed to enable a smoother implementation and support.
  • Cross module data validation is not native from recruiting and core, specifically salaries within or out of ranges as well as approved hired pay rate.
You will want to make sure that the functional business area will have someone who understands technology well to support the business needs from the system. Some skill sets to focus on are BI, business system rules, data tables, and customization impacts.


The SaaS model is well suited for smaller to mid sized companies that don't want to invest capitol in their IT infrastructure to the level an on-site system requires. It also works will if you can keep the system needs to a mostly vanilla set up. If you have extensive need to modify and have access to the core table data then SaaS may not be the best solution.

UltiPro is used in our payroll process as well as for adding new hires and keeping track of our employees' records through UltiPro Back Office. Through UltiPro we keep up with employees' time and attendance as well as accruals. I am able to run all sorts of reports needed from birthdays to anniversaries to employee rosters, etc.
  • Love the Payroll Chats - when in need of assistance they are really well trained to have patience and guide me through my confusion.
  • WebEx training is very well organized and understood.
  • UltiPro keeps us posted on upcoming updates/changes and WebEx training.
  • Very User Friendly program.

We are using UltiPro as our payroll and HRIS system for our entire company. It allows us to streamline our HR processes.
  • Network "up" time is great. We have had little disruption which is a big change from our prior service with ADP.
  • Customer service and technical support personnel are great. They are friendly, helpful and responsive.
  • They have a lot of different modules that can be implemented depending on your business needs.
  • Reporting is complicated in comparison with prior vendors I've been exposed to. It requires a lot more to "learning" to fully utilize the system.
  • Some standard payroll produced reports aren't available. For example, there is not a standard report that is produced (or available for running) every payroll period that shows all of the checks/vouchers that were issued and their YTD totals.
  • A number of items require you to create them from scratch every time rather than allowing you to "copy" them. This includes basic things like earnings, deductions, and gadgets and bigger processes such as life events and open enrollment.
  • Open enrollment doesn't allow edits once it has started. We found one of our deductions wasn't showing for a benefit group a day into open enrollment and were unable to fix it. We had a large group that required manual edits after open enrollment closed which impacted our reporting.
  • Historical point-in-time reporting for benefits is lacking. We wanted to run a benefit statement effective on the start of our benefit year a couple of months later and were unable to because it couldn't "look back" and snapshot information for active and termed people at that time.
  • The various people assigned to your account can be confusing. We have an Executive Relationship Manager, an account manager, a customer service person, a tax person, a wage attachment person. It'd be easier if we just had a team email/contact that everyone could get information from. Trying to keep up with who does what is kind of a pain. This is especially true since they get switched around a lot. I'm on my third account manager since we implemented 7 months ago.
It's a robust program and anyone looking for that would be happy with the result. It would be challenging for people who depend on some basic things like a payroll register that includes checks and direct deposits.

We use Ultimate Software for all of our HR needs including payroll, tax and onboarding. It is simply being used in my department as of right now. We hope to open up access to all employees to view their payroll and HR histories on an individual basis.

We use Ultipro in the HR deparment for payroll, onboarding, recruiting and performance management. All other employees in the company use Ultipro for different functions like requesting time off, approving time off, looking at pay stubs, W2s. Ultipro has helped make our open enrollment for benefits so much easier. We can now have everyone enroll in benefits through Ultipro and no more manual entry and less paperwork.
  • Open enrollment, easy for employees to pick what benefits they would like.
  • Importing a bonus run for payroll. instead of entering amounts for each employee, I can upload using a spreadsheet.
  • Platform configuration.....this helps to change lingo in Ultipro to match the lingo you use in your company.
  • It is very difficult to figure out remaining PTO time throughout the year. There is not a place to future date to see what you will have available in the future.
  • Time cards are hard to read. It is not easy to add a line to a day to enter time.
Ultipro is great at reporting and payroll is very easy to complete. Ultipro needs work on the time management piece. PTO time needs to be easier to read.

We use UltiPro company-wide. It is HR's system of record for employee information and also handles payroll for us. On a basic level, it eliminates a lot of paper and saves us a lot of time. For necessary evils such are open enrollment, it is a godsend. Paper forms and administration would be an absolute nightmare!

It is used by recruiting as our applicant tracking system as well as onboarding for our employees. I believe most departments of the company have some sort of daily use in Ultipro. We use it for requisitions and application tracking. We can track where reqs are, how many applicants there are per req, their qualifications and how they match those reqs and where they are in the hiring process.
  • Tracks qualifications of applicants if you use internal/external assessments. As long as you have them set up correctly they are very helpful.
  • Tracks approval process and doesn't allow any one department to "skip steps" in our hiring process.
  • It's very easy to use-it shows exactly what is needed, there is no guess work as to what is required or not and if you don't input everything correctly it tells you what is missing/needed without making you guess.
  • Applicants entering information - if they parse their resume it doesn't change address, city, etc., to proper punctuation, therefore, creating extra work for recruiting team when creating offer letters.
  • Notes related to applicants - it would be great if they were editable so that one could add to a note anything that is pertaining to the same requisition or applicant question instead of creating multiple notes for the same person/requisition.
  • Saving feature - if you update the job description then add/remove an assessment without hitting save before doing so you lose all changes you made on the job description.
My previous company has an in-house applicant tracking system created by IT professionals and not recruiters/HR professionals therefore it is very hindering to those departments. I have recommended they look into Ultipro for a better applicant tracking system that can be used by onboarding and payroll and human resources so information on various candidates/employees is in one spot/system instead of spread everywhere.

Warren Equipment Company uses UltiPro for core HR, payroll, benefits, compensation, workflows, performance management, recruiting and OSHA. All employees use UltiPro. It has streamlined employee changes and given appropriate visibility to HR data for users who need it. We used ADP prior and we have enjoyed significantly more functionality and superior customer service experience while reducing cost.
  • UltiPro provides a single HR solution for managers and employees. The functionality is intuitive and users engage.
  • We have gained control over the experience our users need. UltiPro is configurable to our needs while providing best practices with standard functionality.
  • Cognos has made reporting HR data easy. The tool is powerful, but not too complex. We have been able to automate several processes. This saves substantial time and increases accuracy.
  • Browser compatibility. Different browsers yield different results. This is a moving target for all SaaS vendors, but it would be great if it were not as apparent.
If you have the talent and desire to take control of your HCM software, UltiPro is a great fit. Payroll processing can be accomplished with a multitude of vendors, UltiPro is a single solution with flexibility across multiple HR modules that work together. We have increased accuracy and efficiency with payroll, reporting, GL extracts and many other processes.

We are currently using UltiPro for Recruiting, Onboarding, HRIS, and Time Management. We will be using the Benefits portion of UltiPro very soon.
  • The reporting is much better than our previous system.
  • There are a fewer manual process with UltiPro than with our previous system.
  • Our current Account Manager is GREAT - very knowledgeable and helpful.
  • Our implementation was not smooth.
  • You have to open a case for everything, you can't just call your Account Manager.
  • There were products we learned about after implementation that could have better suited our needs.
  • We have worked with some individuals that are not fully knowledgeable and have provided incorrect information and/or led us down the wrong path.
We are not fully satisfied with several aspects of UltiPro. The system is not fully customizable and there are several basic things UltiPro is not capable of.

UltiPro is being used by the human resource department. I mainly use it for payroll and informational purposes.
  • Each function is easy to find.
  • There are hundreds of pre-populated reports.
  • They always offer training to enhance your ability.
  • Customer service is always available.
  • A quicker chat function, for questions on the fly.
  • Back office could use a updated over-haul.
UltiPro is well suited for smaller businesses, it takes forever to run a detailed report with only 500+ employees. Imagine a company with 5000.

We are using UltiPro for Core HR, Payroll, and Benefits. We are also look to implement Manager Self-Service, Performance Management, and Succession Planning.
  • UltiPro is intuitive for the employees to use.
  • It helps to make the lives of administrators easier as well with such functions as Manager Self-Service which will allow administrators to focus on more advanced functionality to help enhance business processes.
  • Sometimes, the functionality is not as intuitive as I would like. It feels like it was built by developers, for developers. For example, it is very difficult to update job history. Currently, a case must be opened to adjust employee job history.
  • There are some service issues. Depending on the consultant who is working on your case, you may get different answers. Also, the cases are sometimes prematurely closed before I have a chance to accept the case resolution. This is a training issue.
UltiPro is well suited for organizations that are smaller with fewer component companies. It is difficult to navigate for larger companies that are more complex in structure.

I've used/use Ultipro for HRIS, payroll, benefits and time management.
  • What I expect from an HR/payroll system is reliability and accuracy and UltiPro exceeds in both these areas.
  • I like the balance of having a configurable system that does not require vendor intervention for certain changes, but does have support available when you need it.
  • Customer service is great. There was a short time when they were experiencing growing pains were this suffered, but now they are back on track with great response times.
  • I love that it can be used from any web browser. This allows employees and managers to approve time and have access to data from any computer or mobile device.
  • UltiPro Time Management could use reporting improvements. The reporting capabilities are much less robust than the core system. That being said, though, I think for some people, the "simplicity" is comforting to them.
  • The salary planning module needs to allow tons more flexibility, but it's not a core offering, so I don't see this as being high on the list of their priorities.
The UltiPro core systems, payroll and benefits are very solid. This is their core business. They are working on other modules, but these are the cream of the crop. UltiPro Time Management works ok, but if you have a robust time management need (e.g. union rules, lots of shift differentials, etc.) I would recommend using a different time management system. Right now UltiPro is not a great fit for recruiting, performance management and salary management, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find an HR system that is affordable and can do everything you need to manage the full employment life cycle.

Everyone in our company uses Ultipro. The hourly users use it to clock in everyday and we also use it for benefits.
  • Easy to clock in everyday for users.
  • Easy to navigate around the site to get where you need to be.
  • Easy to get into time management to request time off or to view your punches.
  • Wish Ultipro would use Single Sign-on (SSO)
  • Ability to turn off clocking in from phones
It has worked out great for us and our users. We don't like to complicate things for our end users.

Our entire organization uses UltiPro under myself. We have a group of managers around 100 that use it to manage employees through workflows. Our payroll and HR staff are very active with the UltiPro product and use it day to day for payroll and HR tasks.
  • Reporting on almost every system field.
  • Time keeping reports and payroll processing.
  • Payroll processing could be more user friendly.
  • Onboarding and recruitment lack more manager initiated workflows.
We have had some customer service issues that have resulted in a negative outlook on UltiPro. I don't feel confident in recommending the product at the moment. We are currently working on our relationship with our account management.

We started with UltiPro in 2008 and will have it implemented in all of our North American locations later this year. Acquisitions are incorporated into UltiPro to make data collection easier at the corporate level.
  • All tax information is kept up to date and balancing is easier for the quarter and year end.
  • I can see all locations' payroll information and assist them with any problems they may be having. There is security to limit access to certain locations for other individuals.
  • An online chat screen is available if a payroll is open and immediate assistance is required. This is very beneficial in keeping a payroll moving forward in a timely manner. We have used it successfully several times.
  • The time and attendance is somewhat cumbersome, however there is a time reporting module that is easier to use. It was just not available when we implemented, so we chose to stay with time and attendance.
  • Business Intelligence reports are difficult to write at first, but once you get the hang of it the reports are easy to generate.
UltiPro is well suited for any size employer and is easy to use. They are one of the fastest growing payroll providers and seem to be doing it right. While they have been experiencing rapid growth, sometimes their resources are stretched thin, however, they have been hiring additional staff to respond to this growth. Their conference held each year in Las Vegas helps to keep me current on new releases and utilization of options that we may currently not be using. They have begun to offer hands on training at the conference which is very beneficial.

  • UltiPro could improve the benefit functionality: The ability to handle life insurance age reductions automatically, the ability to handle FSA and COBRA administration within the platform, the ability to handle the Evidence of Insurability process, the ability to automatically lower a spouse's voluntary life when the employee lowers theirs below 50% limit.
