Generally speaking I think Paylocity is a great platform. 99% of the time when I've had to call in to customer service I've been pleased with the results.

  • Tax team. The low review is specifically due to how many times I have to follow up to get answers back from the tax team. The turn around time is honestly ridiculous, and then add on the lack of communication.
I was hired on back in March. My experience with Paylocity when working with their tax team is unacceptable. I have to call in nearly everyday for 2 months to figure out where we were at on this time sensitive matter that was originally quoted to us as being fixed in 3-7 days.
We are still having issues with Paylocity and our Puerto Rican office in regards to Paylocity filing the quarter end reports. The communication is less than satisfactory.

Paylocity is used in my organization to process payroll, onboard new employees, keep track of employee records, manage PTO, and deductions for certain benefits. All employees have a Paylocity profile. Paylocity addresses the business problem of having to manage a growing employee force efficiently and effectively, and all the factors that involve that process.

Paylocity can be used in organizations of any size, big or small. I would not recommend Paylocity if your employee base is not at least some level of being tech-savvy. Paylocity is very well-suited for onboarding new employees quickly and effectively. It may not be effective for organizations with complicated billing and payroll structures.

We began using Paylocity at the beginning of 2023 for payroll purposes. I was not working here at the time they chose to go with Paylocity, I came on in Feb. Service so far since I came on board has been 7/10. Normally pretty responsive, but we have one issue not getting resolved with our state taxes. But, based on how payroll was completed prior to Paylocity, this has been a great move forward for us. Having taxes and child support handled for us is a big plus!

  • Enjoy the import/upload function for hourly staff hours, quick and easy
Cons
  • When there is an ongoing issue, such as we have with a state tax problem; I feel Paylocity should assign this issue to one service rep that we can stay in contact with throughout the process; rather than having to continue to email the general Service@ email address and re-explain everything over and over each time, because you do not know who you will get each time. Plus I feel any tax issue that is leading to penalties should be addressed much quicker than we have seen with our issue. I just feel Paylocity has not taken our state tax issue seriously at all, and that worries me. Service other than that has normally been helpful and knowledgeable.
  • I feel there should be a place to find blank HR forms for newer customers to Paylocity. Such as direct deposit forms, Instructions for employees on how to set up Paylocity account, etc. Just quick forms/templates we can print and hand out that are someplace easy to find on Paylocity.
Paylocity is a well rounded system to use for HR and Payroll processes. Many options available, and keeps the system up to date and always looking for ways to improve it.

We use it to clock in and out, see our paychecks, tax forms, and hours worked.
  • It is very easy to punch in and out of work.
  • The paycheck updates / notifications are convenient.
  • Tax form information is easily accessible and user friendly.
Cons
  • Sometimes, it logs me out of my account, and I have to get a new password from my boss.
I feel Paylocity is extremely user friendly. I am able to clock in / out quickly. I can view the details of my paychecks whenever I need them. If I make a mistake, I can easily edit my punches. It is very convenient to be able to access work details whenever I need them. This comes in handy if work verification is necessary for something I am applying for.
I don't find anything to be inappropriate regarding this app.

Paylocity is our HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration system. We use Paylocity for payroll processing, tax filings, benefit administration (including EDI feeds to carriers), ACA reporting, and collection of employee new hire paperwork.
  • Interface is easy to use for administrators
  • Paylocity continually works toward upgrading their system and providing additional options for employees and administrators. You receive the benefit of these upgrades without additional charges.
Cons
  • In my experience, tax amendments take a painfully long time and often times require follow-up
  • Support staff don't have a lot of depth of knowledge in payroll and benefit concepts, and following their advice can lead you down the wrong path from time to time.
  • In my opinion, tax deadlines are completely unreasonable for administrative staff. As an example, year end tax forms sometimes have to be reviewed and approved by the first business day of the new tax year (depending on what day of the week the year ends) and if you don't have changes in, you incur amendment fees and have to issue corrected tax forms. It's great that they publish tax forms early for employees, but it creates an unnecessary burden on the administrative staff of Paylocity clients.
If you are an experienced payroll and benefits administrator that doesn't need a lot of technical support, the Paylocity system is great and certainly gets the job done. Payroll and tax support at Paylocity is lackluster and inconsistent, so if you are an organization needing a strong external partner in terms of payroll support, Paylocity may not be your best bet.
