We are using ActiveCampaign to market our coaching programs and automate thank-you messages for registering for our Find Love Playbook. With ActiveCampaign's automation for our client emails and teachings, we are able to spend the time would would have spent on essential marketing functions, on what really counts, serving our clients as best we can. ActiveCampaign gives us tools and resources to automate these features without having to be too techy. The customer service is always there to walk us through any issues or questions we have, and that makes this platform feel very supportive to our business. We highly recommend this automation platform for your business.
  • Customer service.
  • Organizational tool.
  • Better delivery - so emails don't end up in spam.
  • Better pricing options for larger email lists.
  • More fonts available to use.
Great for email autoresponder setup, and for organizing the campaign and visually seeing how the emails are spread out.

We are using ActiveCampaign to market our coaching programs and automate thank you messages for registering for our organizational newsletter. ActiveCampaign automates many of the essential marketing touches that we used to have difficulty finding time to do while our client base is growing. ActiveCampaign gives us tools and resources to automate these features without having to be technical gurus.
  • Quickly create workflows to automate campaign messages.
  • Easily integrate with my other tools to keep my contact list updated.
  • Wizard-like templates that help me create technical automations that work.
  • More powerful mobile app.
ActiveCampaign is great for a small business that needs to automate marketing efforts without having a lot of technical expertise in-house. The service allows me to curate and manage my mailing list, automate product marketing messaging, solicit for testimonials, and follow-up with existing clients automatically. ActiveCampaign has saved me time by linking the contacts from survey tools, CRM, and calendar scheduling.

Our organization has used ActiveCampaign for many functions. First and foremost, we use it to manage deals in our sales pipeline. Automation features make it easy for us to pass contact data from forms and events into our CRM. We also use it heavily in marketing, not only to record info from lead magnets, but also to run webinar events. For instance, we automatically send invites and post-webinar drip marketing using automation.
  • Automations are easy to build.
  • Highly customizeable.
  • Integrates with a lot of other platforms.
  • Reporting is fairly basic.
A good system to manage both your marketing and sales. It's nice to have them so closely integrated.

I use Active Campaign to send emails out regularly to my list. I’ve also set up email automations for funnels, as well as segregating lists depending on marketing efforts. It’s been great for selling products, keeping customers informed, and targeting the right customer with segregation. The email automations are brilliant and very easy to use.
  • Email automation
  • Segregating lists
  • Tagging
  • Connecting it via Zapier to our website, etc.
  • More email design templates.
  • Loading and selecting images for email templates can take a little while.
  • Some real stories of people using the product for medium and small size businesses.
  • I would like to see how creative industries like music use Active Campaign.
I love the automation sequences I can set up. And then being able to read the metrics of what emails are working and what aren’t. It’s been very helpful in improving my sequences. I would not consider myself a “tech” person and I was nervous to try the email automation but it was easy to set up. I love going in and seeing how many people are in the sequence, where they are, and what’s working and what’s not.

Using ActiveCampaign to stay in touch with our entire customer/client-base. It helps us stay in touch with them and affords us a very professional & smooth communication medium via which to do so. If we launch a new product or wish to keep tabs on how a recent rollout went, ActiveCampaign gives us a very quick & easy way to reach out.
  • Smooth/professional looking communications.
  • Good templates = plug & play.
  • Good support & training modules.
  • A bit higher price point than competitors.
  • Drag & drop features within email composition can rarely be a bit clunky.
  • Sometimes experience a font resizing issue in the signature line.
ActiveCampaign provides our organization with a really tremendous communication method that helps us provide targeted correspondence to our customers. The level of professionalism does not go unnoticed by our valued clients who've expressed their appreciation of our newsletter that stands out from our competition. When you need to get the word out quickly about a new product, ActiveCampaign stands head & shoulders above the competition in our experience.

ActiveCampaign is an email marketing platform/CRM that we use for our own company and for our clients. It automates email campaigns, user journeys, and allows us to send out single email broadcasts. ActiveCampaign provides a platform to communicate with potential customers and turn them into repeat customers, loyal buyers, and to follow up with people after purchase.
  • Email automation - Automated email marketing to potential customers, follow up with existing customers, and automated messaging to outside parties.
  • Flow building - This software allows companies to build simple or complicated sequences in a visual builder so that you can see exactly where people are in the sequence of messages.
  • CRM - Customer relationship data. Maintaining data points across a user journey (tagging a UTM source, current activity. If you have someone - and want to know where they are in the journey, there's a way to find that data and label a profile with that).
  • Integrations - ActiveCampaign integrates with almost everything. Seamlessly. You can trigger behaviors in other apps through Zapier, or import data from other software you use. It's a very easy experience to integrate with others.
  • Customer support - Every team member I've encountered has been exceptionally helpful. They are probably the bar for customer support in the tech industry, to be honest.
  • Email systems for the long-haul (and for sequences and emails that are expected to bring in a lot of $$$). Email marketing should be 30-50% of revenue for most businesses. It's THE platform that we recommend for coaches and other businesses to help them earn 6 & 7 figures from email. You can track A LOT of data through this software as a platform, which makes it a great candidate for businesses who want to grow and visualize where their customers are in the overall purchase process, as well as maintaining them as multiple purchases customers.
  • User education - I really appreciate the company's effort with many help articles, study halls in cities, and reps for accounts. It does take a bit to get up to date on what functionality the platform has and in applying it.
  • Migration from Mailchimp - Mailchimp has just been disabled as a CRM with access to Shopify. So a slew of customers are looking for new solutions. Technically Mailchimp is probably a competitor to ActiveCampaign as an ESP (email service provider), but if that's the case, wouldn't you want to make it easier to get data from that platform/migrate from that ESP?
  • Clarity in communication & expectation setting - (ex: possibilities if you do/don't have a rep) - I really appreciate the support that is provided by the platform - but my team was helping clients migrate to the platform for some time before we learned about extra services we had available to us (ex: partner programs, migration services) and then IF you had a rep, what expectations looked like for the relationship, things that you didn't have access to if you did have a rep.
  • Error prevention in sequences and flows - Building flows can be really tricky - make one spelling mistake on a tag, and you can really get yourself into trouble (and it takes a while to clean up the mess). New users need to put serious thought into what they're building and the data that they're trying to track.
  • Simplification of the system - I appreciate the system for what it is, but it's a lot more complicated than other ESP's. The capabilities are great - it's broad and flexible and can handle big builds, but it's not as user intuitive as Mailchimp for new users or out of the box.
This platform is a GREAT fit for almost any growing businesses or coach:
  • That has a minimum of 200 contacts (or that are planning on generating more very soon).
  • That has marketing and lead generation in place to grow their network.
  • That needs automated email marketing (automated messages sent out to potential, existing customers).
  • That wants to visualize their data (be able to see where potential customers are coming from.
  • That wants to integrate their email marketing with all other aspects of their business.
This isn't a great fit for brand new users to email:
  • If you are brand new to email marketing, need something super visual and super easy to use... ActiveCampaign may not be the best place to learn. It's mid-tech (some understanding needed) in order to execute these. The learning curve might prevent you from sending out emails altogether. Don't be intimidated, but if you're brand new, plan on asking for a bit of help.
  • If you're planning on building for the long-haul, then I would recommend this platform - just don't do the emails yourself. Hire this out to consultants or email marketers.
If you're an eCom business processing orders on Shopify, we recommend a different platform that is designed specifically for that use case.

We changed our mind to get an alternative from one of the popular tools which they said hub of a marketing campaign. It was 100% the right decision to move over to ActiveCampaign. I love the simplicity of the UI as well as their easy-to-use features like Newsletter campaigns, contact management, deal tracking and the one I like most, the automation setup to follow up with leads.

  • Event-Triggered Email: It's way more easy to set up event-triggered email. It sends the email to your subscriber for the action they took. I love that part.
  • API Integration: Their documentation is very well done and they have functional examples that you can use as a base for your work.
  • Subscriber Management: We're product based SaaS company which is one of the leading social media marketing tools. It's incredible to have ActiveCampaign in our workflow to manage our subscribers. We can see each single detail right from when they visited our website to subscribe to us.
  • The way I use I don't have anything to dislike, but I have some feature requests and enhancement request I'm thinking to submit to their support team.
  • I wish there were some extra customisation available in their forms, would be great.
  • Little things aren't possible in their reports. For example, we can't get the information on how some parts of our contact list are performing.
The tools are comparable to what you'll pay 2X for, and one of the features I love about ActiveCampaign is their Marketing Automation Workflows - allowing you to set up, segment, and activate the inactive. By using this tool, [our] partner ag achieved 15% open rates in the HR industry where 10% is often average; by integrating the online tools with our inbound marketing team - both phone and online support - we were able to increase sales demos 5X over the previous 6 months because ActiveCampaign helped us motivate the inactive as well as those who take action.

I use ActiveCampaign for sending weekly emails for my email list and automating online course delivery. I am building my email list with the help of ActiveCampaign and staying in contact with potential customers and with people who have already purchased something from me (either services or digital products, like online courses).
  • Building email automations that are sent after a purchase has been wonderful and it has been a fairly easy thing to learn how to set up these automations.
  • Being able to use filters in email automations has also been great. Sometimes I have email content that I only want to send to people who either have or have not done something previously (e.g. have purchased something or not, clicked a certain link or not). ActiveCampaign makes this easy to do.
  • I also like the ability to easily tag subscribers with additional information on opt-in forms, e.g. which lead magnet they opted in for.
  • There may be a learning curve in learning to use all the great functions of ActiveCampaign. So for a non-techy type of person it may take a bit time to familiarize with the functions.
I can't really think of examples where I would consider it to be less appropriate, especially because I think most of the businesses and solopreneurs should use email marketing, and I consider ActiveCampaign to be a great choice for that. Some scenarios where ActiveCampaign is well suited, in my opinion, are for example service providers who want a simple way to organize email leads (tagging is great) and build connection and trust with them, warm them up for the purchase decision if they aren't ready immediately. And to keep in contact with people who have shown interest in their services or products.

We use ActiveCampaign in our administration and marketing departments. ActiveCampaign handles our lead capture, with webforms that sit on our website, and lead management / nurture, by allowing us to see where our leads are in our pipeline and to communicate with them applicable to the stage that they are currently at; for example, the way we communicate to someone who is making contact for the first time and someone who has already been chatting to us multiple times is quite different (like human interaction right?). ActiveCampaign is perfect for this and takes the emotional load out of having to remember how many times we've contacted someone, it's right there in front of us and we can make notes at every step of the way. The software also handles our client management and communications, again by allowing us to see clearly how long someone has been a client and how much feedback we're getting from them. We also use it for basic marketing such as handling our email newsletters.
  • ActiveCampaign is robust against spam contacts; since we switched from Infusionsoft our spam-bot problem disappeared overnight.
  • ActiveCampaign is comparatively easy to use and set up; it's more intuitive and visual than Infusionsoft.
  • The customer support is bang on, the agents (shout out to Logan!) are really great at teaching you how to use the software and understanding how it works so that you're empowered to do it yourself.
  • A migration service from other software platforms would be great. I had to rebuild my automations from scratch which took me a long time to fit into my already hectic schedule.
ActiveCampaign is great if you're looking for a less costly alternative to Infusionsoft (no offence to Infusionsoft, it's great but definitely not priced appropriately), I feel that AC is priced appropriately to the market and is also more robust.

It seems to be better built in terms of integrity, so far we haven't bombarded by spam bots with this software, which was a problem we had with IS.

It's also just easier to use and more visual when you're building automations to handle your lead nurture, you'll save time by having your well-thought out and easy to build automation sequences to take the mental load out of remembering to send emails and follow-ups, this will do it for you and you can also include reminders for more human interactions like reminders to call a lead and what stage they are at.

ActiveCampaign is by far the most functional "email autoresponder" out there that I've tried. I use the quotes because it does so much more than just deal with simple email list campaigns.

I really love the tagging feature. Right now I'm working with a client for a series of live events. I'm using the tagging feature to create separate automations to go out and send people follow ups after each event. So, I can set up the automations when they register, auto-tag each sign up, then remind people of the event at distinct times and follow up to get feedback to quickly improve for the next week. All on autopilot! I'm looking like a rockstar lately.

The support is really good. They answer any question and have helped me figure out some cool solutions to make my life way easier.
  • Robust email automation
  • Great visual editors for both campaigns and automation chains
  • Patient, knowledgeable staff
  • I feel that ActiveCampaign can get a bit laggy, not as snappy as I would like
  • Sometimes the support queue can get very long
Compared to other options out there, this is by far the best that I've seen. I do feel it's expensive compared to the competition.

I use this to maintain an email list, send out weekly automations, send out campaigns and to monitor activity.
  • Very user friendly and easy to use.
  • It looks professional.
  • The support is great!
  • Some more customization would be nice.
  • It's hard to insert images at times.
  • The videos show up dark.
I have already recommended it to friends who are starting to build an email list and talk to their audiences. It doesn't always link well with my Squarespace website, so that's one area where it needs improvement.

ActiveCampaign is being used across my entire organization. ActiveCampaign connects seamlessly to my client portal through a direct MemberVault integration. I use it for CRM, email marketing, form building, sales pages, gamification, and more! What I value the most about ActiveCampaign is its scalability. If I can think it up, I can build it in ActiveCampaign, and that is huge to me as a business owner.
  • With ActiveCampaign, I am able to build automated engagement workflows for my clients that are targeted to where they are in my unique client experience. We all want targeted and timely information, and ActiveCampaign makes this easy for me to provide to my customers.
  • With ActiveCampaign, I can integrate directly with MemberVault, within which I have built my client portal and all my offers. No double entering information or having to set up a third-party integration to zap my data from MemberVault to ActiveCampaign.
  • With ActiveCampaign's scoring abilities, it was very easy to extend the gamification within my client portal to things my clients do outside of the client portal. Not only can I reward clients for completing modules and lessons, but I can also reward them for reading emails and checking out my social media sites.
  • Every time I am creating a workflow, there comes a time when I will copy an action or set of actions and the system will give me the spinning wheel of death--until I refresh the screen. This is disruptive and happens so often that I see it as a part of using ActiveCampaign. That is not good, and if another system could do what ActiveCampaign does without this issue, I would leave ActiveCampaign. That is how frustrating this time suck is.
  • I wish that there were a way to input a field as text into another field so that whenever one field is updated, another field's data changes accordingly. For instance, if a client books an appointment with me for Monday and I want ActiveCampaign to input that date plus two days in another field.
  • I wish there was a way to make sales pages and forms pretty. These are so boxy and clunky and there is no modernization to draw the eye.
Someone or some businesses wanting their email marketing system to do the most if asked to, wants ActiveCampaign and will see value in the time it takes to set it up. Others who want their email marketing system to be simple, offer well-designed emails and sales funnel pages, and low in tech intensity will hate ActiveCampaign.

We use ActiveCampaign for many purposes to send out newsletters, to recover abandoned carts, and to stay in contact with our email lists. It helps us to nurture the relationship with our customers and potential customers.
  • Auto Responder
  • Recover abandoned carts
  • Lead Generation
  • SMS not included as core feature
  • Ease to use
  • Landing Pages
ActiveCampaign is been great in helping us recover abandoned carts as we are able to follow up with customers that don't complete the purchase on our website. This has given us a 2-3% uplift in sales.

I am the owner of a sole proprietorship. I use ActiveCampaign for email marketing and marketing automation. I use it for lead collection both on my website as well as integrated with a sales funnel software called ClickFunnels.
  • Integration with Wordpress: I have a form integrated with my website to collect leads. Works great and has for years.
  • Integration with ClickFunnels: I have Active Campaign integrated with ClickFunnels. I use it for website pop-ups as well as other lead gen purposes.
  • Automated marketing: The visual automation creator is a game changer. It's helped me automate my marketing to new leads.
  • I wish there were more detailed reporting options available at the "plus" level.
  • It can be hard to find things you're looking for at times. I had a hard time finding the reports recently and had to jump on live chat to find them. Pretty intuitive most of the time but sometimes not so much.
Very suitable for online lead generation and marketing automation. I don't use the CRM feature but that's also available.
If you're looking for an email marketing platform, I really can't think of anywhere where it's not appropriate. I've used Mailchimp, Vertical Response and others over the years and I'm sticking with ActiveCampaign.

I've been so far very impressed with ActiveCampaign. Been a Mailchimp user before, I miss a little bit the friendliness, cuteness and more humanized and intuitive experience. I love how robust and reliable this platform is. The automation capabilities are endless. It's not as friendly and easy as I was used in Mailchimp. It lacks a little bit on UX. We use ActiveCampaign to run all of our email marketing campaigns as well as our email automations. [ActiveCampaign] is a great platform, as it allows you to easily manage all of your email needs in one place. The automation capabilities are robust and also quite easy to learn and to use. For more standard email campaigns such as weekly newsletters, [ActiveCampaign] also does a good job and provides you with usable stats to track email performance.
  • Email automations
  • Email campaigns
  • Contact tagging
  • Form building
  • I wish that I could use my own IP and a third party tool like SendGrid to manage deliverability
  • Some of the contact search capabilities are lacking
  • Ability to add additional users for a small fee would be preferable to needing to upgrade for a substantial monthly additional fee
[ActiveCampaign] is well suited for companies that need a really robust email automation tool that's easy to setup and use. It's great if you're running webinar funnels or other funnels where there are multiple different places for contacts to "fall out" and you rely on email marketing to get those contacts to re-enter the funnel in the right place. Th automation tools in [ActiveCampaign] make it easy to pinpoint exactly where a contact has left the funnel and intelligently push them back to where they left from.

I personally use Active Campaign practically every day for the construction of automatic responders, e-mail sequences and for sending the company newsletter. Active Campaign is built to be very intuitive and easy to use. Over time I have also used other systems and I must say that Active Campaign is the one that has satisfied me the most of all, also in terms of the relationship between price and product quality.
  • Active Campaign is great for managing automatic emails
  • Active Campaign is well built for tag management
  • Active Campaign does not duplicate the number of users if they are subscribed to more than one list, avoiding the increase of costs as happens with other suppliers
  • Providing the landing page function in a reduced form also in the lite plan would be an interesting plus
  • Providing the Custom audience function on Facebook also in the lite plan would be an interesting plus
  • Integrating a webinar feature could be an interesting plus
Active Campaign is so simple that it is also suitable for inexperienced users and for those approaching the world of mail marketing for the first time. Ease of use is one of the reasons why I recommend it gladly.

ActiveCampaign is used primarily by our Marketing team, but it also integrates with our sales team communication. We use it for our weekly newsletter, marketing automation campaigns, signup forms, auto responses, etc. It's primary use it to connect with customers and potential customers. We have a community of users so email communication is extremely important for us.
  • Their HTML email builder is easy to use.
  • Their automation workflows have tons of options to send custom messages to your audience
  • It has advanced features at a much lower price than other vendors
  • I wish they had a landing page builder included (like other tools do)
  • Their forms are not very customizable
If you're a startup or small business and are looking for quality email automation at a low price, I can't recommend ActiveCampaign enough. But if you're looking for an all-in-one platform with the most advanced automation features, you'd probably be better off with a more expensive solution like Hubspot or Marketo.

We are currently using ActiveCampaign on both the corporate side and as an opt-in feature for our franchise locations. On the corporate side, we use ActiveCampaign to manage our franchise sales cycle. We use it to assign automations to leads that come in as well as assign tasks to our team in how those leads are handled. On the franchise side, it's used to manage client leads as well as handle the hiring process in some cases. ActiveCampaign is really useful in cutting out a lot of the grunt work involved. The automations can handle a lot and are very flexible in how they can be built. On top of that the interface is very intuitive and easy to learn.
  • ActiveCampaign is really easy to use unlike some of the other automation software available out there. The automated campaigns are very flexible and you can manage contact forms, emails, and users all in one system.
  • For the features it offers, it's the cheapest solution out there (as far as I am aware). ActiveCampaign offers a different range of pricing and even has a reseller program.
  • ActiveCampaign is still a relatively small and new company. As such, there are some features missing. For example, there is currently no way to change the design of any internal emails or notifications sent. This means if you are a reseller, any notifications your clients get from the system will be stuck with the blue color scheme.
  • Another big feature missing if the support for SSL on custom domains. Again, if you are a reseller and want your clients to access their system on a custom subdomain, the connection won't be secure unless you use ActiveCampaigns generated domain.
ActiveCampaign is well suited for businesses that need an easy to use automated campaign system. If you have previously used a service like Pipedrive before then you will find its bucket system intuitive. ActiveCampaign is great for managing and even generating leads through its automations. If you need an automation system that's very robust and has corner case uses, then ActiveCampaign is not for you. However, for most, ActiveCampaign will be the perfect solution as it is flexible enough and easy to learn use quickly. There's no steep learning curve here!

I have a small business - I am the owner and operator of the business. I use [ActiveCampaign] to manage clients, automate sales and generally make life easier!
  • Integration - ActiveCampaign easily integrates into many other software solutions. It is a simple process to make it happen.
  • Automation - ActiveCampaign has easy to use templates to help automate your business, or you can custom build them for yourself.
  • Dashboard - Most of the information I need is available at a glance on the home screen.
  • ActiveCampaign for my purposes is not a standalone software. It needs to linking to other solutions
  • ActiveCampaign is not the cheapest email management software
As owner and operator of my business, ActiveCampaign is well-suited, and I imagine it could be scaled too much larger businesses. There are many features that I am sure I could use a lot better, and that would require an investment of time to figure it out.

  • Email Automation
  • Campaign Creation
  • CRM Organization
  • Calendar functionality. Why do I have to save the date first then the time when making an appointment?
  • 2 way email communication for Deals.
  • Better reporting capabilities. Yes you have reports but i'd like to customize the information i need without having to spend a boat load more for an upgrade
[ActiveCampaign is well suited for] organization!!!

I use ActiveCampaign for all my email marketing. I also have used it to create sign-up forms for lead magnets as well as sales funnels. It allows me to stay connected and ensures that no matter what happens on my social media platforms, I own my list and therefore can still connect with my people.
  • Sign-up forms
  • Lists to organize your audience
  • Funnels
  • The automations can be hard and time consuming to set up
As a solopreneur, I really appreciate the ability to create and schedule campaigns to go out, as well as crafting automations so my audience is being nurtured even when I'm busy with other things. It's also helpful that my VA is good with Active Campaign and can assist me in managing it. I think whether you're just starting out and building your list or have thousands of people, it's a great option because it's so versatile.

I am using it for my business first and then helping to implement ActiveCampaign for my client's email marketing. It is being used for broadcast emails, automated drips, and weekly reminder emails.
  • Easy To Use Interface
  • GREAT Email Creation Platform
  • Quality Reporting
  • Successful Email Drip Campaigns
  • Could use Better Integration into my CRM (Nimble)
  • Pop-Up (creation) Should be more customizable
If companies need more advanced features, it does provide a quality suite. It is more expensive than other, less complete options so you need to be utilizing the advanced options to make it worth the monthly or annual cost.

We are using ActiveCampaign for marketing automation and the CRM. We decided to migrate from Salesforce since Activecampaign's CRM did a lot of the things that we needed. Salesforce and Pardot (Salesforce's marketing automation software) is very pricey compared to ActiveCampaign.
  • Marketing Automation
  • CRMs
  • Integrations with other software
  • The gmail extension puts every spammer into Activecampaign as a Contact. I had to delete the AC Chrome extension.
Great for a company that does content marketing with opt-in forms.
Not so great for a call center. Pipedrive or Salesforce is better for a call center.

ActiveCampaign enables the marketing department in acquiring and retaining customers as well as ultimately engaging them while keeping tabs of the post-sales processes of the company. The department is able to utilize the great set of messaging and email features that are readily available within this web-based platform. The CRM built-in functionalities enable teams to create special marketing workflows and automate follow-up sequences for all our contacts.
  • Tracking the customer behavior across multiple marketing channels
  • Adapting and aligning our marketing strategies to the interests of the customer
  • Keeping records of our customer history in a single database
  • A drip functionality can help avoid spam filters especially when sending campaigns to an extremely large list.
  • A blank image box may appear below the image when I use the drag and drop option to add an image
ActiveCampaign is used to send out mass newsletters and email campaigns to contacts at a designated time and date. With ActiveCampaign we can create campaign workflow that is tailored to specific objectives of our marketing outreach and a sequence of emails that are put on schedule to be sent out on specific times. Tracking of the contacts is most important in analyzing how these contacts interact with our products therefore segmenting them depending on their different interests and geographical locations.
