I have been using ActiveCampaign for several years as my primary lead and client communication tool (other than Outlook). It has scaled with my business and is great for integrating with other client fulfillment tools I use. One of my deliverables needs to be segmented dozens of ways for top-end client fulfillment and this is easily achievable with ActiveCampaign.
  • Goals within automations simplifies the funnel
  • As a solopreneur who is not technically inclined, I love their direct support
  • I've been able to take full advantage of their ongoing learning webinars
  • As someone who can be easily put off by tech problems, ActiveCampaign can appear more daunting than it really is.
  • Their last interface changed my UX and I found that confusing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
I have always recommended ActiveCampaign, to peers and my clients. I'm particularly pleased with the visual UX for building the automation.

I use ActiveCampaign for my email communication with potential clients, and to create marketing funnels in an automated way. I write marketing campaigns and send them to my list of clients, as well as evergreen funnels for new potential clients. I integrate it with Thrivetheme, which I use for my website and for my online courses.
  • User friendly
  • Good for automation
  • Good for integrating with other software
  • I wish it was cheaper
  • I wish it would come with a sliding scale price for the number of contacts, at the moment it does, but the difference between one rate and the next is high
  • I wish there were more tutorials
I think ActiveCampaign is good even for a beginner or a sole trader. I managed to understand it and integrate it with my funnels and marketing strategy by myself, and I am not a professional software person. When it comes to using it for simple automations, it is good. I feel that when it comes to more difficult uses like for sales or for analysing statistics, I would not be able to understand how to do it by myself.

I use ActiveCampaign for my sales funnel and newsletters. It's easy to link to my website forms and I love the way you can immediately see who subscribed and clicked on links. My virtual team set up automation and newsletters. It's easy to create drafts, schedule emails, and make automation look easy.
  • Visual representation of automation
  • Stats on the Home dashboard
  • Pricing: much higher than alternatives
  • Segmentation
If you want flexibility in automation, you have many options.

ActiveCampaign is used primarily by our Marketing team, but it also integrates with our sales team communication. We use it for our weekly newsletter, marketing automation campaigns, signup forms, auto responses, etc. It's primary use it to connect with customers and potential customers. We have a community of users so email communication is extremely important for us.
  • Their HTML email builder is easy to use.
  • Their automation workflows have tons of options to send custom messages to your audience
  • It has advanced features at a much lower price than other vendors
  • I wish they had a landing page builder included (like other tools do)
  • Their forms are not very customizable
If you're a startup or small business and are looking for quality email automation at a low price, I can't recommend ActiveCampaign enough. But if you're looking for an all-in-one platform with the most advanced automation features, you'd probably be better off with a more expensive solution like Hubspot or Marketo.

We are currently using ActiveCampaign on both the corporate side and as an opt-in feature for our franchise locations. On the corporate side, we use ActiveCampaign to manage our franchise sales cycle. We use it to assign automations to leads that come in as well as assign tasks to our team in how those leads are handled. On the franchise side, it's used to manage client leads as well as handle the hiring process in some cases. ActiveCampaign is really useful in cutting out a lot of the grunt work involved. The automations can handle a lot and are very flexible in how they can be built. On top of that the interface is very intuitive and easy to learn.
  • ActiveCampaign is really easy to use unlike some of the other automation software available out there. The automated campaigns are very flexible and you can manage contact forms, emails, and users all in one system.
  • For the features it offers, it's the cheapest solution out there (as far as I am aware). ActiveCampaign offers a different range of pricing and even has a reseller program.
  • ActiveCampaign is still a relatively small and new company. As such, there are some features missing. For example, there is currently no way to change the design of any internal emails or notifications sent. This means if you are a reseller, any notifications your clients get from the system will be stuck with the blue color scheme.
  • Another big feature missing if the support for SSL on custom domains. Again, if you are a reseller and want your clients to access their system on a custom subdomain, the connection won't be secure unless you use ActiveCampaigns generated domain.
ActiveCampaign is well suited for businesses that need an easy to use automated campaign system. If you have previously used a service like Pipedrive before then you will find its bucket system intuitive. ActiveCampaign is great for managing and even generating leads through its automations. If you need an automation system that's very robust and has corner case uses, then ActiveCampaign is not for you. However, for most, ActiveCampaign will be the perfect solution as it is flexible enough and easy to learn use quickly. There's no steep learning curve here!

I am the only person in the company, and I use it for building trust with leads. Once I get them on my email list, they are put into an automation that sends them value-based emails for a 4 week period.
  • Automation builder
  • Customer support
  • Pricepoint
  • More features in the base subscription.
  • Faster loading time.
  • I've had some errors with clients getting stuck in an automation point.
If you are looking to create automations, ActiveCampaign is the way to go. I tried other email systems, but the automation systems couldn't do what I was wanting to do. With ActiveCampaign, I can easily create different branches in the automation to meet people depending on certain criteria like whether they opened a previous email or not. If you are just wanting to send basic emails to your email group, there are other options out there that are free and could do the same thing.

I use ActiveCampaign for all of my email marketing, onboarding, and automations. I send out broadcast emails with weekly blog posts.
  • The onboarding is fantastic! I get up and running quickly.
  • ActiveCampaign is very intuitive. I rarely have trouble finding what I need.
  • Their customer service is as good as I've seen anywhere. Always quick to respond and incredibly helpful.
  • I'd love for the CRM to have a task manager built-in. It's fantastic for deals and sales tracking and planning, but I'd love to have everyday tasks in there too.
If you do a lot of email with clients and potential clients, especially if you send the same emails multiple times, the simplicity and powerful nature of ActiveCampaign's automations will save you hours!

For sales, marketing and customer support. AC helps us to automate most of our advertising campaigns. Inviting contacts to our events. Follow up in events participations. Sales reminders. Surveys for improvement.
  • Forms are very simple to create allowing us to obtain important information from prospects.
  • The automation is very visual and through a flow chart perspective it's easy to plan the sequence of communications we send.
  • It's very helpful to copy messages from previous campaigns, saves us time!
  • It is not possible to add attachments to the emails.
  • It has not the option to select contacts based on multiple filter options.
  • Welcome training.
Is great for us as we are a small company. We can pay through a scale of contacts which is great.

AC is more technical than friendly platform. For us is great, but if you prefer more personal touch AC is less appropriate.

I use Active Campaign for two businesses. First, Active Campaign allows my Navajo language learning business to offer daily email notifications. Second, Active Campaign allows my tour business email notifications about tour and booking updates.
  • Active Campaign goes beyond other email services because I am able to easily create 7-day email drips and copy it as a template for the next fifty-one weeks. I am able to review the analytics of individual and group customer behaviors and plan accordingly for beneficial content.
  • With ActiveCampaign, there was some trial and error to move through the platform, but I focused on three features and gradually added other tweaks. I plan on continuing my learning with Active Campaign to integrate more features.
  • I am working away from my desk the majority of the week, and the mobile app with seamless functionality would be a great compliment to Active Campaign.
Active Campaign excels at sending automated emails to my customers via signups from a dedicated URL or from my websites.

It is used both for automation and for weekly emails. Active Campaign keeps me connected to my best readers, followers, and clients. I have especially enjoyed the automation features that I've added in the last few months. I've seen my email list grow considerably since moving to Active Campaign. I'm very pleased with my results.
  • Emails
  • Automations
  • Customer service
  • Setting up emails was challenging at first.
  • I wish the drop and drags were easier to use.
  • Setting up lists takes a little time to understand.
Customer service and onboarding are amazing. I had such a good experience getting set up. Also, I've had great service when I've emailed or contact AC with a problem. Also, I like the campaigns and the automations very much. Sometimes, I wish that the drop and drag functions were a little easier to use. Convert Kit and Mailer Lite are easier and more user-friendly.

In order to manage my leads, I needed a tool to have lists of users, send emails, segment the users, create automation, etc... ActiveCampaign was the solution. Currently, we send a weekly newsletter to more than 500 contacts without issues. Every Monday, all our followers receive it in their inbox.

On the other hand, we have implemented a system in our website to get more leads. Thanks to ActiveCampaign each lead got is introduced in a funnel, an automation, an emails sequence, and created in ActiveCampaign. This sequence is an onboarding process for our leads in order to know us and share our best contents with them.
  • Automations
  • Send massive emails
  • Manage contacts
  • More tests scenarios to check if automations is well done
I have tested and used other email marketing tools, and ActiveCampaign is stronger and more robust than others. If you want to manage your list professionally you should test ActiveCampaign. Also, ActiveCampaign have two pluses: First, you can manage your contacts with tags. Second you can create Automations. Everything you can imagine, can do it with ActiveCampaign.

I have used ActiveCampaign for the past three months to manage my new digital fundraising consulting business. I give it outstanding marks overall for being a comprehensive marketing automation and CRM application for any small-to-medium business. Having used several large automation systems, I'm impressed by the breadth and depth of features, its ability to integrate with other systems (I integrate with WordPress), and the amount of effort they put into customer care and education. Setup and ramp-up were both easy; I was ready to do business within a couple of hours of transferring my contacts, putting in my business information, and setting up a few templates--a total of 2–3 hours tops. The system has been stable; I have not experienced any crashes or other downtime since using the product. Overall, I would highly recommend ActiveCampaign to anyone either looking for their first automation/CRM solution or those looking to take a step up from a more basic/less robust application.
  • Creating and maintaining a clean list of contacts.
  • Integrating contact and other forms with other applications via API.
  • Having a cloud-based product, giving peace of mind knowing all data is safe and secure.
  • Continual improvement of user interface is always a wise investment.
  • Code used for integrating forms directly with WordPress is sloppy.
  • Improvements to adding custom fields to contacts and accounts is warranted.
I recommend ActiveCampaign to small business owners looking for a combined marketing automation/CRM solution that will satisfy their growth indefinitely. Though I do not recommend the product for a large enterprise, it is perfect for organizations from one to 50 employees, and maybe more (I don't have enough info on that). Their education and customer service are outstanding and they are seriously invested in continual improvement.

We use ActiveCampaign to send regular newsletter emails and share educational email series. It's been useful for keeping in touch with clients and keeping client-specific notes. It's also easy to use and recommend to clients whether they are new, or a seasoned professional. AC included features we really wanted and faired well compared to some more robust systems, and it was a tool that we could continue to grow and evolve with.
  • Automated emails
  • Automated email sequences
  • Scheduled emails
  • Detailed client notes
  • Overall user experience/design.
Well suited:
  • Very well suited for basic and complex automations.
  • Recently added the ability to customize to the specific client experience.
  • Easy to use and grow with as you build and scale.
Less Appropriate:
  • Lacking intuitive and easy to use design with email signup boxes.
  • No built-in features to easily customize messages and timing based on a set of client factors.

ActiveCampaign is really the best tool out there. I haven't used it to the maximum of its capabilities because I am personally at a phase where I am restructuring my business, but it is absolutely amazing. I can not wait to use the entirety of the features it offers. One thing that I love about the system is that it is super easy and intuitive to use. I am a real estate agent and I use it for many drip campaigns and automated autoresponders, so having the ability to include text messages and the way you can condition pretty much everything based on user behavior is pretty amazing.
  • Email automation
  • Sales pipeline CRM (amazing UX/UI)
  • SMS & email integration
  • Behavioral messaging, etc.
  • Doesn't integrate well with Zapier for some Real Estate CRMs.
  • Expensive to get the Sales CRM on the higher plan.
I cannot state a single con.

I use ActiveCampaign to grow my own tribe, supporting solo entrepreneurs with their marketing. Being a solo entrepreneur myself, I can say that it is used by the whole organization.

My use case is as follows:
  • I have several automations, the usual welcome sequence, as well as special sequences for new customers.
  • I send out a regular newsletter (weekly, mostly).
  • I send out campaigns when launching a product.
ActiveCampaign helps me to keep in contact with my audience and to provide them with valuable information on marketing and social media.
  • Easy to use visual editor for campaigns.
  • Visual builder for automations.
  • Intuitive segmenting via tags.
  • I would love to import images by drag and drop into a campaign
  • PDFs can only be attached with the HTML-editor, not the visual one. This would be great.
  • Editing mail in an automation is long-winded and could be improved.
AC is great when you are just starting with your newsletter marketing and don't want to spend lots of money on functions you don't use yet anyways. It offers an easy and reasonably priced entry and grows with your needs. It is not for people who are easily overwhelmed by many features, which sometimes are not very intuitively placed.

ActiveCampaign is being used by our entire organization. We have been able to leverage the system for our B2B channel as well as our B2C channel with its flexibility. We are able to automate marketing, tasks, and process flow for deals and or contacts with the system with ease as well as send out marketing on the fly. We use the deals pipelines, lists, and tagging frequently and are huge fans of the email builder and its ease of use and flexibility. The only piece that I would like to see improved at this time is the CRM functionality but with that said it has been very useful for us.
  • Email builder.
  • Lists.
  • Pipelines.
  • Integrations.
  • Gmail integration.
  • Calendar integration.
ActiveCampaign is well suited for automation and email distribution. If you are looking for a pure CRM, there are some functions you may wish you had or more seamless integrations. The one marketing aspect that would be great to have is a landing page building to complement their forms.

We use ActiveCampaign for our email marketing program. It provides us with a reliable way to send clients useful information on a semi-weekly basis. It also allows us to connect with new potential clients.
  • Design. It is attractive and easy to use.
  • Ease of use. The site makes it simple to create whatever you want. It also allows for easy editing and communication.
  • Customer service. The customer service team is excellent. They provide in-depth answers to all questions. They also answer very quickly.
  • One con is learning how to use the platform. It isn't difficult to use but can be overwhelming for an amateur.
  • Cost. The cost isn't absurd but it can add up quickly depending on what you want to do. It is cheaper than other sites but isn't going to break the bank.
  • Function. Some aspects of the site aren't easy to use but aren't too difficult after a few minutes. I would also like there to be more functions and customize options.
Perfect for using with ClickFunnels and email services like that. It is useful for personal injury but it would be better suited for businesses that sell products other than services. The overall system is easy to use and the customer service is helpful for all of your needs which will be many.

I use it for email marketing for my own company, but as a content marketer, I also have used it for building my client's email lists and email marketing. It's easy to set up automations, deliver multiple lead magnets, and score MQLs before passing them on to sales. I always recommend that my clients use ActiveCampaign instead of other common email marketing providers.
  • Ability to deliver multiple lead magnets to people already on the list.
  • Automations and drip campaigns are super easy.
  • Easy to tag users and deliver targeted messaging.
  • Formatting emails could be easier/better.
  • Sometimes the formatting comes out funky.
It's well suited for companies that want to scale email marketing. For my personal blog, I use Mailchimp, but I prefer ActiveCampaign for my marketing agency and for my clients who are trying to scale their businesses.

We started using Active Campaign 4 years ago and the primary purpose of using it was as our CRM. We then integrated it with our WordPress website in order to have a contact form and for registrations for our dinner seminars. We have not utilized it to the best of its abilities by any means, as we are a small company, and have not had a need but now that things are changing we want to start utilizing it more for email marketing which we are looking forward to learning more about.
  • CRM: The CRM is customizable, which is the original reason I chose it over other CRMs originally. I found other ones at that time were very hard to customize for our line of business.
  • Integrations: The amount of apps that Active Campaign integrates with is huge. I personally have only used a few, more specifically Zapier and WordPress. I expect to use many more in the coming months.
  • Templates: They have numerous pre-made templates to use for email campaigns that can be customized with graphics, colors, and fonts making it easier to be more productive.
  • Email: Unless it has changed, to my understanding it does not integrate with Outlook in order to save information from outlook into Active Campaign which would be a huge benefit to us. I know you can email from within Active Campaign but we use Outlook and it would be much easier to have a button or way to integrate the 2 from within outlook.
  • Calendar: Same as above. I would like to have the option to save my Outlook calendar to Active Campaign and vice versa so they were in sync.
  • Layout: While the layout of contacts is easy to use, I've found the interface lacking in showing each contact with a summarized view. I think having a more condensed customizable view along with the option for a more detailed view would be more helpful. Again, this is something I plan to look into further as there may be a way to do this. Once I find out, I will come back and change my review.
I used 4 other CRMs before Active Campaign, and while the others had their own bells and whistles, I ultimately found Active Campaign to be the superior one across the board but especially in price. Active Campaign offers the same things as other much pricier CRMs/email marketing platforms such as Infusionsoft but at a much more affordable cost. This is very important for smaller businesses in order to be competitive.

I have been using ActiveCampaign in my solopreneur creative business to send out emails to my list. The problem it solves is that I can use it to manage forms, my email subscribers, and emails that I send out. I use it for quite simple emails, and not really any complicated automations or campaigns.
  • Great user experience that is intuitive.
  • In-depth help guides and videos for someone starting out with emailing software.
  • Analytics are a great tool and easy to understand.
  • Email composition is easy.
  • If someone unsubscribes, I would like ActiveCampaign to remove the subscriber from all mailing lists. (Fixed it by creating an automation that does it.)
  • A more affordable option for solopreneurs who use it for not super complicated emails and automations.
Great for people need to send emails to different lists or subsets of their lists. If you only need to send out emails to an entire list weekly for example, ActiveCampaign might be too advanced for you. Great also for people who are starting out with emailing software and know that their list/intensity in campaigns will grow (this is me).

ActiveCampaign is used for our email marketing automation and it helps existing and new clients to learn about our products and our company. So far it helped a lot to speed up marketing and customer loyalty. It works great to educate customers on an automation level and was really helpful to build processes in our company.
  • Automation.
  • Email marketing.
  • Email workflow.
  • Prices for smaller accounts.
  • Design in email templates.
  • Intuitive operation.
Automation, email workflow, overview of email workflows, building customer journey, these are all awesome at ActiveCampaign and we are more than happy that we switched from an alternative tool to AC. It is less appropriate if you are looking for awesome design only, the email builder could have a bit more flexibility and options as this matter more and more in times of storytelling.

I use it for email marketing automation to follow up with leads that I collect from my blog. It helps me keep readers in the long term.
  • Great marketing automation
  • Great support
  • Competitive pricing
  • Great deliverability
  • Can be hard to use when you first start, just like anything else.
  • No landing page builder.
If you're simply looking for a high-quality and effective autoresponder, while collecting email somewhere else, then ActiveCampaign would be a great choice. However, if you're also looking for a landing page builder, then you might want to go for another solution. Overall, it's probably the best at what it does. ActiveCampaign (AC) is used across the organization to help: Automate repetitive tasks, manage comms externally, promote the business, grow the pipeline, manage online events, integrate with our e-learning platform, manage engagement and optimize deliverability. In essence, to do the heavy lifting and leverage so much more with less so that we can comfortably punch way above our weight!
  • Building the automation is easy.
  • Integration with other platforms is easy/robust.
  • The insights are powerful.
  • It is very flexible.
  • List categorization relies on tags only. It would be nice to display segmented lists more creatively.
We have not come across a scenario yet where AC has been able to add a good amount of value.
