I've used multiple platforms including Experian Cheetahmail (now Cheetah Digital), Strongmail, Silverpop, Exact Target and several entry level tools. I do prefer Responsys to the others for the reporting and ease of use in creating a scalable data schema. I also prefer the UX within the Responsys platform; offers a more linear approach in creating campaigns.

Salesforce does not have a search function which can be quite frustating to find your emails and find past insights on campaigns when you do not have a perfect naming structure.

I have only used Maxymiser, but Target and Optimizely seem like strong contenders. Target has some great features which work well if you are on the AEM platform and use their Analytics as well. Optimizely seems to have server side testing down and that would be my go to if that was the main goal.

Having been a long time marketing automation customer that has used various other applications, I can attest to the robust capabilities and the comprehensive functionality of the Eloqua application by far exceed that of the competition.

It has a lot more functionality and third party / app integrations compared to the majority of the tools on the market, with probably only Marketo being just as powerful with Pardot being the next close contender. I found Eloqua much easier to use and being a lot more flexible and scalable compared to Marketo.

Eloqua is the true enterprise class tool compared to smaller organizations like HubSpot. We need a tool that can be approved by out stakeholders in IT, compliance etc. so the Oracle organization best suits our needs. Pardot and Marketo are always an option for the future, and many people do push for those tools so Eloqua needs to stay as competitive as possible.

Eloqua was easier for us to develop triggered campaigns with than MailChimp. MailChimp was good for monthly newsletters that went out to the full database. Eloqua allowed us to personalize our emails and deliver the right message to the right consumer at the right time. It added to the engagement with the consumer.

My company is actually moving to Pardot because it integrates better with SalesForce, which our Sales teams use. I am new to Pardot so I don't know all the details on why it is a better system, but I will say that I have personally had very few issues with Eloqua and would have been happy to stay with the Eloqua system, other than the occasional downtimes.

It was an inherited platform vs. chosen. The incumbent chose Oracle as it was the best enterprise solution. The company, however, did not require an enterprise solution rendering the full Oracle stack pretty useless, unfortunately. The commercials are expensive yet it is attractive to have a 'blended' CPM style commercial model vs. other vendors that charge you on contacts.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) is very powerful, but really requires a lot of technical folks to do the day to day marketing with a lot of scripting required to do what is built into Eloqua. SFMC is much better equipped to work with e-commerce systems as its API seems richer and more in line with what a large e-commerce platform would like to work with. But Eloqua is truly built for Marketing teams to use on a daily basis.

Oracle Eloqua is a full-fledged marketing machine - you're able to track, report, create, manage, literally anything you can think of within one system. Salesforce does off many of these features but in a way that is not as integrated. Act-On if very limited in the features that are offered in comparison to Oracle. If you need a one-stop software, Oracle is the best choice.

I personally did not have a hand in selecting Eloqua. After several demonstrations of Marketo, it is my understanding that Marketo allows for greater flexibility in overall digital marketing.
