- UltiPro is a cost effective HRIS solution for our size company. It houses all the pertinent information that we need.
- It is relatively easy to use for those that are used to other HRIS solutions.
- It is a one-stop communication tool, especially useful for those employees that do not have a company email address
- The reporting tool, while comprehensive if you are using the COGNOS application, the fields are not always intuitive or easy to find.
- Ultimate really needs to work on employee date functionality. It is VERY difficult to get history of actions out of UltiPro. Seems that the Job History tab could be re-configured to be easier to understand at a glance.
- The new WFM platform still needs a LOT of work. There is VERY limited reporting capability and lots of glitches
Ultipro Helps Us to Care for our Customers
- Ultipro is particularly helpful on the performance management side. The set up and process is simple and is modiable enough to work for most organizations.
- Our main concern when choosing Ultipro was how it would be used by thousands of hourly, not necessarily system savvy employees. We have found that Ultipro simplifies it's processes so that it is easily understandable and therefore readily used.
- Customer Service is a strength for Ultipro. The model in place provides a personal touch and I am always amazed at how quickly our issues and questions get addressed.
- Ultipro listens to its' customers. We all have the opportunity to send in ideas and it is always gratifying when they are put into practice.
- Report Writing is an issue. It is not necessarily intuitive and with the recent upgrade has become more complicated especially for simple report writers.
- I was recently surprised at the pricing associated with the new Learning Management system. In comparison to other vendors it was way out of whack. Much too high.
- When tickets have to be escalated to customs or other areas beyond the basic customer support, it often gets lost in a "black hole" for too long.
UltiPro - The System In Review
- UltiPro very effectively processes payroll. The configuration ability related to earnings, time etc., is wonderful.
- UltiPro Business Intelligence reporting function is very straightforward and user-friendly. New users can easily pick up on reporting functionality.
- Customer Service, more specifically the need for more reps to handle day to day issues.
- Response time related to customer service requests, or tickets. Our average wait time for response or resolution has been up to 4 days.
- Time and Attendance configuration and functionality. System functionality that mirrors payroll.
Payroll at its Best!
- Compared to our past payroll provider, we find processing of the payroll so much easier. The department managers found Time and Attendance was surprising very easy to adapt to.
- The employees really took to being able to view their accrual balances and request or cancel their own time off.
- To be able to reach out to the employees with company updates and news is very convenient.
- I would like to be able to view and/or print the pay stubs from any selected dates. This comes in handy when we need to know the salary paid for a period if it crosses into another year.
UltiPro is All-in-One!
- Time & Attendance. Easy to use and provides a great audit trail of any changes made to punches.
- On Boarding. Seamless integrates with the recruiting portal to get new hires quickly processed and their employment documents verified.
- Payroll. Fast and efficient. Alterations to past pay dates are so easy, just make the adjustments and UTA figures out the rest.
- Reporting. Lots of reports available, but I have trouble accessing the data I need. This could be an error on my team's implementation of the software.
- Pop Ups. Everything opens in a new window. Makes for a cluttered desktop at times. One of the great things about UltiPro is I only need to log in to one system to take care of tasks that used to require me to open 3 or 4 programs at once. Having every thing open into a new window almost defeats the purpose.
Great HRIS System
- Ease of use for managers and associates.
- Mobile compatible for our remote workforce that doesn't always have access to a computer.
- Streamlined reporting and analytics.
- While most areas are mobile compatible, others are not.
- During the 4th quarter, support is always bogged down, resulting in longer than normal and sometimes unacceptable delays.

Pros and Cons about UltiPro
- UltiPro is very intuitive to use and very user friendly, which has been helpful in learning the system and training others on it as we added new employees.
- The security and permission levels provided by UltiPro are broad and easy to customize, which allows us to have our various team members only have access to the information they are supposed to see.
- The reporting options in UltiPro, especially through the Business Intelligence feature, are very helpful for analyzing data.
- The main area where there is some room for improvement with UltiPro is with customer service. The Rapid Response hotline is very helpful, but the "case" system does not seem to create urgency even when you mark something as a priority, and there seems to be a lot of pushing from our end needed to get things addressed in a timely manner.
- There are some functions that can only be done in the "back office" rather than the web portal, and this split functionality can be annoying and slow down productivity sometimes.
- There is some limited functionality if you don't have the time and attendance module, which costs extra money.
We would choose Ultipro again and again
- UltiPro provides the best customer service of any vendor I have done business with. They have a rapid response phone line for issues during our payroll processing which is extremely helpful during that time crunch.
- UltiPro offers lots of free training classes for all of their products. Many of them are virtual so very convenient for us.
- Ultipro has a convention annually that allows you to take additional classes, in addition to networking with lots of other customers that use their products.
- I honestly do not have any areas that come to mind. When there are things that need improvement, they have a place to submit change requests that other customers can vote on to get them implemented.
The last software your company will ever need!
- Great customer service. Their employees have the patience of saints!
- Webinars/online support- if you need to review anything, you can go onto UltiPro web site and find it. They have step by step directions on how to do anything. They send information about upcoming Webinars that are every knowledgeable.
- Ulti always seems to know what's going on. If there have been changes to local taxes, compliance issues, state regulations on leave time, etc., they seem to know and have a plan to put into place.
- Report writing could always be made easier to use.
- Have the ability to archive somethings in employees records. For example, deductions that are no only in use.
- Their electronic benefits. As a benefits manager, I know this is an area that can use work in any system.
UltiPro continues to impress!
- UltiPro is no longer a Payroll only system. It has really come a long way with meeting the needs of all of those in HR. It's great for tracking compliance and administering benefits. It's also ever-changing to evolve with business needs.
- It would be nice to have the features of Benefits Prime without the additional expense. It seems that these features should be included for any company who uses UltiPro for benefits.
Great platform
- The platform is extremely user-friendly and easy to navigate compared to other payroll systems I've used.
- It's really easy to log in and view or print your previous paychecks, which saved a lot of time when I was applying for a mortgage and could just print my own documents instead of requesting them from HR.
- It was also easy to see how much PTO time I had already used and how much I had left throughout the year.
- It's a big bonus that they have a mobile app with full functionality as well.
- I have nothing negative to say about the platform.
Customer for 17+ years
- Reporting is great, there are multiple options for reporting. You have canned reports and you have Cognos Business Intelligence. I am able to use the tax reporting from UltiPro to file all my Federal and State reporting.
- Support is outstanding. From your named service representative to logging on to the Customer Support to create a case or need of Rapid Response for time sensitive needs, you can count on Ultimate Support to take care of the issue.
- Continuing upgrades to programs to meet industry needs
- Some times when a support case is completed and issue fixed, the explanation of what caused the issue is not very clear.
- Connection issues at times, rare, but seem to hit at the worst times.
UltiPro User Review - Great Product!
The fact that all these modules are housed in one system makes data integration a breeze. All info is shared internally between modules and externally with vendors through custom-built APIs that can generate on whatever frequency is needed.
- Data integration is perhaps the best aspect of UltiPro. Employees enter information during onboarding which is transferred to their employee profile. They then enter benefit elections which are transferred to both payroll and benefits modules. There are many interactions like this that make it so easy to use.
- UltiPro's customer success portal is always a big draw. We're able to put in a case and have it in resolution within 24-48 hours on most cases. They are quick and efficient to correct any issues that may arise.
- The Perception employee survey tool is one of the most intuitive, advanced tools I've seen. It analyzes open source text responses from employee surveys to extract emotions. It's a great way to gauge employee engagement.
- The time module (UltiPro Time Management) is somewhat difficult to use but they are rolling out a new time module in 2019 that should replace this.
It might be a little complex for smaller companies with too much under the hood.
UltiPro Review
We use it across the whole organization. Employees use it to access their pay information, make benefits elections, change dependents, etc. As administrators, it is our system of records and pushes data to other systems, such as our performance management system, Cornerstone. We use it for timekeeping, payroll, reporting, benefits, and so forth.
It has allowed us to run a multi-state company, with all users having access to their information timely. It allows us to reduce manual process (i.e., Open Enrollment).
- Easy to use - minimal training needed to end users.
- One stop shop. They really provide the entire suite of HR system needs.
- Customer service and communication. They offer great, timely service and are constantly communicating changes in legislation, etc. to their users.
- Time Keeping. System could use an upgrade (UTM).
- Performance Management
Well suited for companies that have many business locations and perhaps does not have HR onsite. Allows managers to enter transactions in the system through a manager self-service and can be directed through an approval process. Also for data-driven companies, has strong reporting tool with scheduled reports, dashboards, etc.
Less appropriate for perhaps a company that has strong scheduling needs. We used UltiPro at my last organization but we had to utilize a different vendor for our timekeeping and scheduling.
UltiPro Review by Manufacturing
- UltiPro is very user friendly on the HR side as far as entering new hires, terminations, transfers, rate changes, etc.
- Employees find UltiPro easy to use to change their address, withholdings, and view their pay statements.
- Ease of running reports.
- Automation of wage attachments, tax filings, etc. without having to wait for an email that states "run this report of that report."
- Canada Payment Services should be able to submit all taxes, not just Canada Revenue Agency and Employer Health Tax. This adds a burden on us to wire funds to agencies.
- Canada wage attachments should be sent through Payment Services.
The Ultimate Experience
- UltiPro has a allowed system administrators the ability to quickly learn a system due to its ease of use and its flexibility. The opportunity to be able to customize the system without the associated costs and unnecessary involvement of consultants allows me the ability to make an impact to our business at a faster rate.
- Their Core HR products are comparable to your Tier 1 HCMS when comparing the functionality and look and feel. The end user experience has enhanced the usage of our HR applications when compared to the past. The ability for employees to be able to navigate seamlessly and manage their information is made an impact. The ease of use with the Core HR applications has made a great impact on our employees.
- The real-time information including reports and dashboards is more aligned with our other systems. BI Cognos Analytics is one of the best analytical suites in the industry and the power behind the suite is what drives the powerful reporting. This allows me the ability to assist my leaders with making better informed decisions with the data I can provide.
- The learning application is better suited for employees with flat organizations and not for more dynamic environments. There is very limited functionality when compared to other learning applications. When UltiPro made the decision with Schoox I believe that partnering with organizations that had a wide range of learning paths and needs would have allowed them to have a clearer understanding of what the system was lacking.
- The ability to be able to create an ad hoc business process and have more flexibility around the approvals org levels would be great. While there are quite a few workflows they are not as flexible when wanting to develop different business processes outside of the normal ones listed.
- The ability to see all compensation history from one place for all employees would be a nice to have. The compensation management application can handle merit and simple items but when the variable pay and incentive programs are more complex the system cannot accommodate.
Report Writing Gold!
- Business Intelligence is my favorite feature within UltiPro. I am able to both modify and create reports to fulfill the needs of all levels of management. This allows me to provide data without an extended lag time.
- UltiPro does an awesome job of creating a platform for users to share knowledge and communicate points of concern. Though I have a small department, I never feel alone and always have a resource when I have questions.
- UltiPro offers educational tools at no additional cost. If there is anything you want to learn, just sign up for a course. No middle man, no charge, no travel required! Just show up (virtually) and learn. I LOVE this feature.
- There are some things about this software that cause a headache on my end. One of these is the fact that some fields are hard coded in the background. If something needs to be corrected, I have to file a case and wait for a response.
- UltiPro Core is extremely date sensitive. Ironically enough, it isn't able to split an employee's pay rate based on said date. If someone's rate changes in the middle of a pay period, I have to manually adjust their pay during the payroll process.
- I use UltiPro and UTA, I wish the two systems connected seamlessly. I should be able to click a button and/or run a script to pull time into UltiPro for processing without logging into a different product (with yet another password).
General Review of UltiPro
- Web based system that can be accessed from internet or mobile app
- Employee self service
- Web based payroll processing
- Updating the benefit deduction codes for carrier changes before open enrollment is tedious
- Performance management is not as fluid as past versions
- Allowing for more editable business process workflows (such as in the Add Employee request) would be helpful
UltiPro Pays Off
- Payroll Processing - from importing time to paying employees, the process is very smooth. We use their time keeping system so it works very well.
- Recruiting - we recently added the new recruiting module and it is amazing. We are able to show off a more personalized look for potential new employees and really get them excited to work for us.
- Employee input - when coupled with recruiting, the information easily flows from the employee directly into the system to ensure their personal information is correct.
- Special requests - our biggest gripe is that any time we need specific help with reporting or set up, it's always $6,000. That seems to be a magic price every project request.
- Canadian locations - we have some struggles with our Canadian locations and the regulations. Most recently the change in holiday pay within Ontario has caused us to have to have a custom done within the system to make sure the pay is calculated correctly. At this point, we are doing it manually until a solution can be provided.
The Ultimate in HCM Software
- Ability to report on most if not all data collected is extremely powerful.
- Customer support from the customer support portal to its representatives are a great addition for resources.
- Communication of new features, products and providing webinars and references is top notch.
- Compensation module needs work with being able to add fields for the manager to view more readily such as custom fields
- Global features such as Onboarding, recruiting, transferring an employee and updating job history are severely lacking
- Having more custom fields to work with would be great
- Termination Reasons that are disabled should not be options that display in the drop down when having to terminate an employee
UltiPro Review
- Our ERM is great and is helping move us in the right direction with UltiPro.
- UltiPro cares about its employees and customers.
- UltiPro is constantly striving to produce a better product.
- There is still a lot of room for improvement in the benefits arena...would love to see enhanced confirmation statements and the ability to customize more.
- Communication (which I know is being worked on).
- Roadmap always seems to change...which I understand but it is really hard when things change at the last minute.
Coming from the BIG payroll softwares (SAP, PeopleSoft) UltiPro is a great product to land on!!!
- The training, the training, the training! I cannot say enough about how easy Ulti makes it to learn the product. Like every company we have turnover in our HR & Payroll areas and the Ulti training options AT NO COST is simply superb.
- The application is friendly to the new user. I didn't have to learn a complicated language to learn the tool.
- Customer service. The service team is outstanding. We get quick responses to our urgent situations and have a myriad of options for getting help on our not so immediate situations. Everyone is SO friendly and conscientious - including folks from the partner firms.
- UTM and the integration to CORE could use some help. However, we just participated in an overview of WFM which seems to solve the pain points we have with UTM. Our main issue with UTM is the manager experience. The product takes them a lot of time to review and approve timecards. Plus, we are mostly in California where compliance issues can be costly (has been for us!!) and our managers cannot readily see what their employees have recorded. Each time card needs time consuming review.
- During my first year as a client, I had difficulty in the training sessions to know what sort of client I was. Could be some better front end education around how a back office client is different from Core the different tax services types of clients etc.
- I am not totally familiar with the HR side of the product however our HRIS group has struggled with some of the event management aspects of the tool.

- Organization of internal necessaries such as time management, training, etc
- Clean UI
- Integrating personal and work-related needs, such as providing HR information as well as extra information on things like "how to stay healthy", etc
- Staff trees--this might be on the company's end, but it's a little hard to navigate the staff/management trees (UI needs work)
- The mobile app could be more mobile friendly
