QuickBase vs JIRA

We were looking for a collaborative team task tracking solution and reviewed many different products that were dedicated to solving such a problem, or had the capability.
QuickBase can both allow you to create it from scratch or apply a pre-defined template from its market place. In both cases you can then customise it to your needs.
The major downside with QuickBase is that its data entry is still outdated versus the alternatives.

Quickbase is easier to implement than a LAMP stack.

Knack's licensing is far superior to Quickbase. Quickbase and the crazy cost per user make it hard to develop an application that is shared by our customers. Knack gives us similar functionality at a fraction of the cost.

  • Google Sheet and JIRA
Quickbase is much more powerful and it is much easier to find information organized quickly, but Google does have the benefit of being organized into all their other software and it is very easy to share and have others work on at the same time. I understand that they are not completely the same, but we used Google Sheets for a while before we ended up getting Quickbase.

JIRA is very powerful as well, but I feel that Quickbase is set up better and more user friendly.

MS Dynamics CRM was a lot more cumbersome to develop and maintain than Quickbase. The API was also not as easy to use. Dynamics did have more robust workflows than Quickbase, but it really was not worth the effort to develop on compared to the needs we were trying to meet.

I didn't select Quickbase. When I came aboard, this is just what they were using so it's not like I have a choice to pick something else. Even if I did have a choice, I really wouldn't know what to pick. If I had to go out on my own now and pick something else, I wouldn't. QuickBase has been so great to work with I wouldn't want to work with anything else.

We tried various project management solutions when we spent most of our time with QuickBase. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages. I would recommend trying out all the trials, one at a time, then making your selection. It will save you in the long run. Be sure to give each product a proper chance.

Before selecting Quickbase (and even after selecting in the years since) we have looked at other tools to do what we use Quickbase for and we have discovered that Quickbase still holds up well to these other tools. Quickbase continues to develop the tool based on customer feedback and we have benefited from this development. While we still look at other tools periodically, Quickbase is still easier to use and keeps us and our team doing the actual work we need done and not spending time trying to get a new tool off the ground.

Customizing Oracle ERP is a long and expensive proposition. Creating an HRMS on QuickBase was faster and efficient and more importantly adheres to our processed than having us change our processes to match the system.

SharePoint also has many functions that help teams manage projects, information and data. Quickbase stacks up very well because it seems to be a little easier to use and teach other to use. There seems to be more options with quickbase which opens the opportunity to an organization to have more teams utilize the application.

They are much more complicated to work with. I don't have time to learn SQL or NoSQL. Quickbase takes the pain out of developing databases, optimizing, refactoring, creating elements, sizing etc... Quickbase has a much nicer user interface than what is available for the back end of the other products I mention.
