IT is being used across the organization. It provides more information to managers about their people, provides more data and capability for reporting on data and has streamlined some work flow processes. We are having issues getting managers to use it regularly and make use of what it can do. Overall, it will help us become more sophisticated in the way we use information about people and bring employee life cycle decisions to the managers.

UltiPro is used across the whole organization for tracking HR employee demographics, benefits and payroll processing.
  • It has good integration starting with the recruiting package that flows through onboarding to new hire.
  • I feel the ability to capture information from the job application and transition into onboarding for new hire is excellent time saver for data entry.
  • I also like the Business Intelligence report writer. I am constantly writing reports for data driven decision making process.
Cons
  • The payroll process in back office needs to be fully transitioned to web functionality, no more flipping back and forth between applications.
  • There are too many groupings for payroll - Earn Group, Deduction Group, Pay Groups.
  • The pay groups should be completely tied to a specific company in the payroll process and not visible to all companies under a Master company.
I love Business Intelligence! Especially the ease of using Alerts and Scheduled Reports to pull data on Ad Hoc and data change notification purposes.

We use Ultimate as the main program to house our employee records. We only use it HR do not allow users to take part in the Self-Service module. Where Ultimate really excels is their partnership with Cognos Business Intelligence. Their downfall- their customer service case management. It takes weeks to months to get most any issue with slight complexity resolved.
  • Cognos Business Intelligence- The types of reports and number of reports you can create are endless.
  • Audit Trail- Not only are you able to see every small change that has every been made, you can see who made, at what time, and then correct it.
  • Customization- Ultimate works hard with the users to create a solution to fit the company's needs
  • Training & Support- The library of user information and training documents is a great asset.
Cons
  • Customer Service- It shouldn't take more than a few days to resolve an issue, and often it takes a month or more.
  • Software Updates- Once they update their web app, you have to make a change and re-save every single report in Business Intelligence.
During the selection process it is important to just be as detailed as possible with customization. Make sure you choose a program that can work with and speak to other software that your company already employees.

We use UltiPro core for HR and Payroll. All full time employees use self service to review personnel data, job and review history and submit PTO requests. We use the powerful Cognos usiness Intelligence tool to push reports through email to executives, managers and frontline users. When we first implemented the product in 2004 the seamless integration with Payroll was major selling factor. The product forced and helped foster a very positive work interface between our HR and Payroll groups.
  • The Business Intelligence reporting through Cognos is second to none. Any field I see I can pull into a report and analyze.
  • UltiPro has an AMAZING user group community. It's something I bring up anytime a prospective client contacts me. I get most of my answers (and shared report templates) from other users around the country
  • Ultimate Software is very forward facing. Sometimes it's frustrating when it feels like a product gets rolled out sooner than the company is ready to support it, but I still appreciate that the company is on the cutting edge of HR technology and is always looking for the very latest tools to make my job easier.
Cons
  • It can be difficult to connect with a live support person. We are assigned a Named Service Representative, which sounds good on paper, but when I have a burning question with a deadline, it can be torture to play phone tag with this rep. By the time I call back, they've moved on to the next ticket in their queue. Luckily, the user group community is so strong I can usually get the answers I need.
What our company loves about UltiPro is it's open construction - any field I see I can report on. That is powerful, but comes with a pretty steep learning curve. The product may not be the best fit for a company used to a more service-oriented model (meaning, you call support to add deduction codes or write your reports). Ultimate will do all of this for you, of course, but its power is in its openness to the front-end user.

Ultipro web based app is highly user adaptive in its style with tight integration across different functions

Time management and Payroll, with some HR employee review and things like that. Hosting an erp with multiple various business modules and hassel of configuring it.
  • Business Intelligence reporting module has an awesome reporting model preset, which allow over 50% of basic reporting already done for you.
  • Ultipro's time management portal is simplified over the year and very easy to adapt. Which is the most frequently page. Other features we well designed under their own categories.
  • Tech support for Ultipro is well informed and knowledgable, I have interacted with them over many reporting and design issues and never disappointed.
Cons
  • Ultipro can definitely made the Browser support much more dynamic, especially be able to roll out compatible viewing as fast as new Browsers come out, with cloud systems Users will and do use these portal from various devices, so that would be a great boost to its offerings.
  • More module availability with ipad and iphone. Ability to submit support case not only via browser by also via mobile phones and tablets.
Ultipro is well suited for any organization that has offices across multiple cities. It reduces the headache of managing apps and roll out of them as Ultipro is cloud.

Less appropriate would be the BI module where time management and payroll management does not interact with each other. that would be something of great importance for reporting folks.
