We are using it across the organization, from Onboarding through to payroll, goal planning and performance reviews. It keeps our information seamless across multiple departments, and helps to have employees self-serve.

  • Can require repeated testing to confirm the process maps to corporate process.
The software is best implemented where you have a dedicated Admin, and Systems person for setup and troubleshooting. It is a complex system, that requires a dedicated resource as a go to for someone to use infrequently.

We use UKG Pro company-wide as our primary payroll and time management system. Additionally, we take advantage of its full HRIS reporting suite to process taxes, PPACA reporting, EEO reporting, Workers' Compensation reporting. Recently, we have added performance management and learning management products.
  • Customer service is fantastic—their rapid response team addresses problems quickly and accurately. They are patient and work well with users of all experience levels.
  • Implementation of their products is painless—dedicated implementation specialists work with you through the entire process.
  • The BI reporting functions are best in class.
  • Occasional system quirks—such as the lack of an "undo" function when terminating in the core.
  • Role administration can be cumbersome depending on your org structure.
UKG Pro is perfectly suited for organizations with 1-5000 employees with single or multiple locations. It seems best suited for private sector employers and may not be appropriate for very large organizations which utilize more enterprise software.

  • Provides a lot of options.
  • The initial set up and training of new modules is not in-depth enough. When you actually start using it, you can no longer talk to the trainer, you have to contact support.
  • Contacting support for any help is an atrocious experience. It takes too long to get any communication and they just aren't familiar enough with your organization to understand and immediately solve your issues.
  • Your training university is hard to sort through to get what you are looking for. Too much information all in one place and not enough ability to narrow down what you need.
  • Reports are way too complicated to understand how to generate with any information you actually need or are wanting to look at.
Maybe Recruiting and Hiring to streamline those processes, but I have yet to experience that.

  • EXEMPT payroll-don't force me to bring in a "time file" when I have their set hours pre-loaded into the system.
Small accounting departments need the support of a tax team to process and file their tax documents, so the team can focus on other accounting functions of the company. An app is a great tool for employees to have access to their payroll, tax, and time-off information.

Across the organization. We use it for payroll, employee tracking and reporting, running reports, using surveys. Tracking job descriptions and processing job transfers and new hires.
  • One place for everything.
  • It looks like changes that are coming for BI will be very helpful.
  • Perceptions need improvement. They are difficult to build and not very good training on how to use it.
  • We need better training videos and online training to do at your own pace with access to trainers if we need them. Current training for BI goes so fast that you just can't keep up if you are new like me.
It is an easy place to keep all the employee information but would like to have a better place to add documents like their background checks. Much improvement is needed in documentation to understand how it really works. Also much improvement is needed in Perceptions. They are not documented well and it is harder to figure out. For example, a "page" is used for 2 very different things! So you it is hard to tell what "page" they are referring to.

We use UKG across the company to manage our people basically from start to finish. We utilize UKG recruiting, onboarding, and performance reviews. Time-keeping, payroll, and training. Benefits and reporting all run through UKG.
  • UKG is really good at seamlessly transitioning people from applicants to employees. They have a variety of partners in the recruiting gateway to assist in getting candidates in the door.
  • From an administrative point of view, the time management system is well designed and easy to use.
  • Customer service is usually spot on. If I call the rapid response line, I am usually greeted by someone eager and willing to help. If they don't have the answer, they put me in touch with someone that does.
  • Offer letters in the recruiting gateway should be editable after they are sent!
  • I would like to be able to hire a person from a closed job posting rather than having to create a whole new requisition for one person.
For a company our size or larger, I would recommend UKG. Compared to ADP, it is way more user-friendly and robust. However, it may not be ideal for a small business because it is super expensive. I have sticker shock every time we receive a bill.

Utilized across the whole organization. We have created so many business efficiencies on Time Management, Payroll, Reporting, Payment Services, Performance Management, Recruiting/Onboarding, Compensation Management, Employee Admin, etc.

We came from a program called ABRA and it was very archaic so everything we have from reporting, payment services to processing benefits and payroll is awesome and has made us so much more efficient and a huge time saver!!

UKG Pro is used across the whole organization. We use it to track hours, to manage employees' information, for payroll, onboarding, recruiting, open enrollment, life event, etc.

In general, UKG Pro is a great Human Capital Management system. It covers a variety of features that allow management of employees in a more comprehensive way and organized. It could be adaptable to any organization. At the beginning of the implementation of the Workforce Management, weren't a lot of resources available, but they have improved tremendously in the development of this feature that now is more useful.

We use it for our faculty and staff payroll (non-student). UltiPro adds incredible efficiency to almost all HR processes, from payroll processing and tax services, electronic talent management and benefit enrollment, comprehensive recruiting and onboarding systems, and time management.

UltiPro will work well for an organization with straightforward payroll and HR processes. It is perhaps not appropriate if there are complicated processes, multiple payroll types, or specific customization needs.

We use it across the entire organization for HR and Payroll needs. It completes our need for recordkeeping of employee data and facilitates all of our payments to employees including time and attendance.
  • The system is mostly well laid out.
  • There is good technology behind it.
  • Support from account managers is excellent.
  • Tax services have been severely behind.
  • Time and attendance module support is very lacking.
  • Getting an answer can sometimes be time-consuming and the answer can vary depending on who you talk to.
If you need to keep track of employees, new hires, terms, time and attendance, and payroll then UKG provides a well-integrated package. HR's procedures for new-hires flows well to the payroll team so that we can pay them appropriately and timely. Information from payroll automatically feeds into the time and attendance system easily. Everything flows smoothly and without much intervention.

Does not seem to work very effectively though for performance planning and reviews; it is difficult to prepare next year's plans and to amend any carryover plans from a prior year. Once someone leaves the organization, you can also never get rid of any old performance objectivest that were assigned to that person.

We are using [UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro)] enterprise wide as an HRIS. We use it for payroll, performance management, and core files. Overall, great way to get all HR functions under one roof for ease of use and improved efficiencies.
  • ATS - great way to track open positions and candidates for a mid-size company.
  • Payroll - UKG [Pro] does a great job keeping up with local, state, and federal changes.
  • PTO Tracking - provides a very good accountability structure.
  • Performance Mgt - promotes more frequent touch points between MGR and EE.
  • Time Clock - accurate and efficient.
  • Improve the capability of seeing / sorting candidates in the ATS.
  • Add more preferred vendors for LMS content.
  • Make the bridging process easier for adding benefit providers into the system.

It is used across the whole organization. It allows us to appropriately allocate costs between departments and addresses employee record keeping issues. It also integrates with our benefits service providers.
  • It allows for allocation of employee costs between departments accurately - not just the salary, but the fully loaded cost of the employee. This was something our prior provider lacked an ability to do.
  • Handles payroll tax compliance fully.
  • It is easy to get support questions/tickets answered timely. There is no run around and waiting for one specific person to handle something, if a person you were working with a case on is out sick, another person steps in to continue working on your ticket. I appreciate this team approach.
  • Ease of us on the BI reporting function. It's very confusing to figure out. It does provide great information, it's just a struggle to customize it. But I love that it's there. There is training available but it's very time consuming and I wish it was more intuitive to use.
  • The biggest thing I wish UltiPro had which it doesn't is a direct GL connection to QuickBooks Online.
Suited if you have a complex or voluminous payroll or operate in several jurisdictions. It is easy to upload information for each state and city you operate in and update the info as necessary. It is also easy to get information in reports. It's probably not the best for simple payrolls as it would be over kill.

We currently use UKG Pro across our US operations for HRIS, Payroll, Performance Management. It provides us with easily navigated employee self-service, reliable reporting and streamlined processes that our former provider did not offer. This has greatly reduced our paper-based processes and reduced opportunity for human errors. We also recently began to use the UltiPro App and have been pleased with it and it was quickly adopted with no hiccups reported by users. This allowed us to stop using our time clocks within our facilities in light of the COVID-19 threat to our team health and welfare. We also have a few modules not yet implemented that we intend to utilize in the future.

UKG Pro is a robust solution--maybe too robust for an organization our size-but well aligned with our needs organizationally. Initially it was chosen as it met a specific need within our organization for the management of a California 9/80 schedule which has unique overtime rules and for consolidated reporting as we have multiple companies that often need to be viewed from a consolidated perspective. One challenge for us has been that our IT organization is not large enough to provide us with the support of the platform so we manage changes as an HR team. This can be challenging but having a payroll admin who is technical and well acquainted with the nuances of the platform has been very helpful.

In my current role, we use UKG Pro to handle domestic and global employee management and payroll processing. We are currently in the process of using it across the whole organization and are working to bring out global entities online. As we are still in our first year post-implementation it is still a work in progress. UKG addresses the business problems of housing our employee data in one system across all entities making it easier to run global wide staffing reports and financial data.
  • UKG Pro is a large platform with capability above and beyond what we've been able to implement so far.
  • UKG Pro provides helpful training through UltiUniversity as well as a searchable customer site and a user community forum to connect with other users.
  • UKG Pro's Rapid Response line is available for critical/immediate customer support when needed.
  • UKG Pro is such a large system that it can sometimes be overwhelming to a new user.
  • UKG Pro's custom report feature (BI - Business Intelligence) is complicated and not user friendly. BI available reports appear to deliver questionable results. *Not a fan*
  • Dislike the connection of tax jurisdictions to an employee record being tied to the location code assigned. There are also issues when an employee updates their address directly instead of using the address search feature. They really should disable the ability to type it in directly to avoid double taxation.
  • Would like to be able to bypass the "next" button when entering in data by using the displayed menu in certain features. If you have to go forward/backward several screens it slows down the user.
  • Would like to see payroll reports accessible directly from the Payroll Gateway instead of having to navigate to the Standard Reports output. It would also be helpful to see calculation totals related to a pay group as you are processing rather than running a report, getting out of the Gateway and opening a report.
  • I've said this before in other survey's... during the 1st year following implementation having a dedicated support person assigned to the account until the new users have been exposed to the different abilities and tools in the system.
  • The Customer Success Portal (CSP) - support case situation is difficult to keep up with. For users that don't have only one role but switch between multiple (benefits, payroll, and taxes) it can get overwhelming to switch hats and keep up with activity with open support cases. There is also seems to be a backlog, especially when dealing with taxes.
UKG Pro is well suited to managing Human Resource, Payroll and Benefits tasks.
UKG Pro is less suited as far as time management is concerned when you are required to use an alternative time and attendance system that is tied to a time to client billing situation. It would be helpful if there was an ability to connect outside systems. The same in regards to external applicant tracking systems (ATS) systems.

UKG [Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro)] is being used by the whole company. It specifically addresses the calculation of H&W for SCA contract employees.
  • Allows for users to make life event changes that flow through approval and notification processes.
  • Onboarding.
  • Tax forms can be updated by the user and set to approve by payroll to ensure it goes through.
  • The ability of Admins to login as the users to verify what they can or can't see. It helps when writing instructions.
  • A physical manual to flip through for basic set ups and frequently asked questions. Bouncing between screens isn't fun when you're in a time crunch. Better explanation of the effect a field has on outcome - Such as effective dates.
  • The ability to be in multiple screens at a time rather than having to log in multiple times. Sometimes it's easier to view a previous set up to match it.
[UKG Pro (formerly Ultimate Software UltiPro) is] great if you want to keep the number of people administering down, but only for a growing company that has exceeded 60 or more employees. It's not cost effective under that amount due to licensing. Implementation is the most difficult part of that and it will require multiple hands on deck.

  • Maintaining employee personal and job information.
  • Updating information and tracking changes.
  • Onboarding.
  • Hourly time tracking.
  • Time off tracking.
  • Performance Management process.
  • Employee File Management (secure, permissions-based employee file retention and sharing).
  • Processing US Payroll.
  • Customizes employee profile fields based on standards in employee's country.
  • Customer support is outstanding.
  • Allows customers to Share Ideas, which are often included in updates.
  • Software comes with over 200 ready-to-use workflows.
  • I'd like to see faster implementation of Shared Ideas from customers.
  • Workforce Management needs a massive overhaul or needs to be replaced with a new product.
  • Excellent customer support "ecosystem" that includes
    • Vibrant and useful discussions in the User Community.
    • Huge amounts of training material available.
    • Live, recorder and text-based training are available.
    • Support ticket system.
    • Useful help info links on pages throughout the core product.

UKG Pro currently is being used by the HR department as the HRIS and the payroll department for processing payroll. Aside from standard W2, W4, Org Charts, and paystubs for employees, there isn't currently much self-service from a whole organization perspective.

There are plans to expand our self-service for transfers, promotions, salary increases, and skills review. Additionally, we plan to create dashboards for certain levels of managers.
  • Employee Data Management - The system is a fantastic HRIS.
  • Payroll - The payroll process is straightforward and simplistic.
  • Configurability - The system is easy to configure and implement.
  • Business Process Configuration - The system allows for easy configurations to match business needs.
  • Workflow Configuration - Easy workflow designs for business processes.
  • Mobile Functionality - HRIS Access via app or web.
  • Login as Employee - I do not understand why I cannot login as an employee as an HR admin. I have in other business systems and HRIS's so this is a must have.
  • Reporting - Cognos is great, but takes a lot of getting use if you aren't familiar with it.
  • Org Chart - Customization of Org Charts would be nice. Different backgrounds, ability to set order of direct reports, etc.
Pros:
  • An affordable HRIS and Payroll platform, that are easy to use and integrate with.
  • The ability to track global employees, while keeping in mind laws related to those regions.
  • Flexibility in configurations to account for different business models/processes.
  • Vast API library for ease integration setups.

Cons:
  • "Easy to use reporting system" - Learning curve for reporting from Cognos.
  • "Personalized Benefits Solutions" - Benefits Prime functionality seems limited in terms of customization.
  • "All access for Admin" - Admin access to employee view is non-existent.

Our HR department has used UKG Pro for several years now to manage our organization's basic HRIS needs (benefits, performance, talent and document management). The system provides us with a central place to collect, retain and report the majority of our HR needs.<br><br>Though it is a very robust system, there are many issues that often seem to be made overly complex and require technical assistance or changes that are only offered as a paid service. We do have a dedicated Account Manager who meets with us consistently. This has helped tremendously in ensuring our issues are promptly resolved and/or we have a greater understanding of the "why" of an issue.<br><br>Making the UKG Pro system more user-friendly and intuitive would go a long way in retaining current customers and finding new ones.
  • Assigned dedicated Account Manager - provides one-on-one assistance.
  • Rapid Response line - prompt answers to many questions.
  • Career Development Opportunities - the Super Admins should be able to rename and delete courses without having to set up a case or pay for more thorough changes.
  • Open Enrollment set up and Document Acknowledgement set up - copying one event or document acknowledgement could be easier and allow for more modifications to the event or document acknowledgement as it is being created.
  • Business Rules - there needs to be more Deduction/Benefit Types to allow for changing situations and circumstances.
This system is best for a large company with very standard processes. There is not enough opportunities for individualizing or making modifications without having to go through Rapid Response, open a case or contact our Account Manager.

We are using UKG Pro across our whole organization. Previously our Human Resources information was still kept via paper records. UKG Pro has allowed us to manage everything electronically from any location.
  • Payroll and tax filing services - the payroll gateway is easy to use and allows payroll to be completely seamlessly and easily. Additionally we have not had any issues with any of our tax filing accounts which was a major issue we experienced with a provider prior to changing to UKG Pro.
  • Reporting - there is robust reporting capability which is helpful to be able to create a report to meet any need.
  • Core product - the core employee and HR information is laid out in a way that is user friendly and easy to navigate.
  • Recruiting - we have been disappointed with some lack of functionality within recruiting, particularly related to conditional questions which is a huge need for us.
  • Talent management - could be tied into the core product better with better reporting and workflows that better match how other parts of the system work.
  • Onboarding - we have a large group of seasonal employees which frequently involves a lot of rehires. The onboarding system does not manage rehires well.
It has great functions and features, and although there is a lot of room for customization, some areas of the product aren't as customizable as I would like. For a mid size company the cost may not be worth it. I could definitely understand how it's helpful for larger companies.

We are using UKG Pro for Payroll Processing and Human Resource Management System for all of our employee data.
  • Training - pretty much an unlimited amount of training is available at any time.
  • Service - in the 5 months we have been with UKG the service could be improved upon. I hear nothing after weeks of having a case open and have addressed this concern and nothing has changed.
  • Lots of reporting is available especially through Business Intelligence, but it hard to learn how to create and modify reports even after taking the courses available.
  • A print preview button on a unprocessed payroll would be great.
UKG Pro definitely has the capability to be able to do so much whether you have 100 employees or thousands of employees. You can track pretty much anything you would need to for employees. From IT equipment to employee certifications. Payroll processing is very easy to learn and navigate through.
One of the biggest down sides is that I feel that implementation left behind some things that should have been done beforehand. COVID earnings/credits with our prior processor were not looked into with full detail and caused some issues at year end. We are still waiting for file feeds to be set up and had to reach out numerous times to get the process going on those. 1095 data is not being accurately tracked we found out as a piece was never set up, so again, found that out while trying to approve them to be printed.
