We purchased all modules and and so far have implemented payroll, recruiting and are just starting performance management. We have only have been with Ultipro since July, 2014.

Luminex uses Ultipro across the whole organization. In North America it's our core HCM system from paying employee in the US & Canada, to enrolling in benefits to performance management. We continue to leverage Ultipro to our Global markets for HCM tracking, Performance Management and reporting. UltiPro has helped us standardize reporting needs globally.
  • UltiPro gives us ownership of the system, from tables to security. It allows us to configure the system the way we need it to be.
  • We have benefited greatly from the Open Enrollment solution UltiPro offers. It's allowed us to take a very manual process with multiple system entry and stream line it to a one stop shopping. Employee's complete their enrollment on line and their elections are then exported from UltiPro to our benefit partners.
  • UltiPro's global workforce solution allows us to now have one point of access for our global markets data. We no longer have to take days to get a worldwide headcount report. We are very excited to continue to further grow our global functionality.
  • UltiPro's puts their customers first and it shows with everyone you work with at UltiPro. It's a true partnership.
  • Being a SaaS customer allows us to always be update to date and current with the latest functionality.
  • Continue to develop the performance management functionality to include HR ability to reach out to users through email to keep the process flowing.

We are a distributed company with facilities in several states in the US. We needed a solution that provided ease of use, great reporting and web-based access in a highly secured environment. We needed a solution that a very lean organization could manage and support. UltiPro provided all that and more.
  • Ultimate puts the power in the client's hands. Each client can choose how much or how little of the solution to leverage in their business.
  • Ultimate has a support model that has worked very well for us. The Customer Success Portal is a valuable tool that gives us access to resources including each other, other clients facing the same business issues. The community of users are true collaborators and contributors to the each other's success of us all. Our Named Service Representative have been excellent and have really gotten to know how we use the solutions.
  • They LISTEN to their clients. Ultimate provides many forums for feedback and input. They use clients to help design and evaluate work under development.
  • UltiPro could be improved with more seamless integration with 3rd party modules like UTA.
  • UltiPro really needs to tackle and embrace the mobile world our workforce insists upon. Employees should be able to login first time, every time from a mobile device like their smartphone. Every module needs to be smartphone friendly since that is the single, most frequent access to the web for all of our employees.
  • UltiPro needs to balance the end user experience with the needs of the centralized administrator. Some web functionality needs more streamlined access, like adding deductions or enrolling in /assigning compulsory training

UltiPro is well suited for companies that value and encourage self-sufficiency. UltiPro is highly configurable. Prospective clients really need to have a clear, detailed vision of their requirements so they can manage their configuration smartly.

UltiPro is our core HRS and payroll system which all staff members access to view their biweekly pay stubs and update their personal information themselves. After they make changes the workflow for approvals kicks in and requires HR approval before being committed to their record. We moved to the web interface and SaaS configuration about 3 years ago to reduce down time and increase productivity because the quarterly and tax updates are done after hours eliminating downtime during business hours when I would have to do them my self.

UltiPro has been extremely reliable with a total of no more than 30 minutes unplanned down time in the last 3 years which is extremely reliable. UltiPro continues to listen to customers and they work to implement our suggestions and are continually increasing functionality which makes our jobs more efficient and productive.

We use Recruitment to assist managers in finding quality employees and easily transfer hired employees into core payroll. We also use Ultipro CORE for payroll processing, importing files, exporting tax and GL files to third parties. All employees have access to Ultipro web to view pay, W-2's, change/add direct deposit accounts, change addresses and personal information as well as W-4's. We love the BI reports that are delivered and customize them to meet our needs. UTA is our timekeeping module and helps managers to approve time quicker as well as time off requests. They can easily adjust timesheets which can be tracked by administrators. Ultimate allows us to do more with less. We have just downsized and gone from 8 to 4 employees in HR so we have vamped up what employees can do themselves and love the updates that make things even more simple for them.
  • Employee Self Service has been a Godsend, employees do more themselves which takes the burden off of HR
  • They listen to their clients and implement their ideas when rolling out Releases
  • They do their homework so we know that when an upgrade is released, it will make my life and the employees lives a bit easier
  • UTA is still outdated
  • Ulti University transcripts don't have the proper information on them/ dates, APA credits--hard to navigate
  • I love Ultipro, its hard to find fault...although I hate the time out thing

It's used across the company, from recruiting to timekeeping to benefits. We like the ease of being able to use one tool for all our needs.

  • The flow from Timekeeping to create files for downloading is simple.
  • Open enrollment has been very simple for our employees to use.

I think Ultipro suites any type of company, it's a one stop shop, you can do everything.

UltiPro is the system employees use to log in hours, it is used by the whole organization. HR, payroll and IT are the administrators.

Ultipro is used in our organization as an HR tool for all staff. We use it to replace our employee files as well as use it for payroll, benefits, onboarding, reviews, and our employee directory. The fact that it has so many features and functions has allowed us to steadily increase our reliance on it as a one-stop-shop. We have now linked our Learning Management Software with the program so our staff has a single log in for HR and learning functions. The mobile app has significantly increased our employee's use of Ultipro.

We began by using Ultipro for strictly HR functions but have now incorporated a lot more features. It is a great tool to link the employee to the organization and answer questions they may have without having to come to HR directly. We use UltiPro for many of our HR processes, including EEO-1 reporting, recruiting, onboarding, E-Verify, payroll, performance development, and time management (time clock, and PTO requests). It is heavily used by our HR Department, but is used by all hourly employees to track time and by all employees to track and manage PTO. Our managers use the system for reporting, position requisitions, and offer approvals for recruiting and hiring. For us it has addressed consistency and communication issues.
  • Education opportunities are abundant. We have access immediately to tips, tutorials, cheat sheets, and videos. Not just HR, but all users! On every page there is a section called "Things I can Do" and "Tips and Tutorials". Having so much instruction at our fingertips gives HR a great time savings to having to stop everything to show people how to do processes they have the ability to learn on their own and when needed, so there is no need for a learn it all in one session type training.
  • One login means one and only one login! I have seen others who claim they are one login. Not true. UltiPro is the real deal. One login does it all.
  • Recruiting and Onboarding are amazing. We have been able to track and fill positions so much faster. From 40 days to an average of 10 days to fill. No more lost applications, or paper trails to China. All hiring managers see all activity on their open requisitions. Onboarding is all inclusive down to E-Verify. Processing a new hire in to our core system is EASY and there is no duplication of information that I have seen in other systems that showed us demos. What the applicant completes is what is transferred and there is no re-entering information.
  • Would love to see more best practices with regards to setting up security roles and assigning access. There is plenty of information on "how to do it", but would like to see some models.
  • More batch processing functions, like being able to select more than one file at a time. Being able to see comp info for selected individuals side by side, rather than running a report.
I believe UltiPro is geared more for a larger company or corporation. We are relatively small company with 280 employees, and it provides a great deal of functions which is awesome, however, a bit expensive for our size.

Bethesda has implemented multiple functionalities of Ultimate Software since September 14, 2014. We began the implementation in February 2014 and have just finished with the last module for Performance Management and concurrently Benefit Open Enrollment. We also use Recruitment, Onboarding, HR/Payroll, UTA, and Compensation Management. It is used across the entire organization. We did not have a complete suite of modules to support all aspects of HR until this implementation. Much of our work was done manually on paper or at best on spreadsheets. It has empowered users to take care of their own changes and business situations related to HR.
  • This is a very user friendly software, with many people figuring out how to perform actions with little or no instruction.
  • It is very logical in sequence of events and leads the user through the process they are attempting to accomplish
  • It allows many actions which were previously manual to now be automated, eg. benefit enrollment, address changes, tax changes, etc.
  • We sometimes have to pay an employee retroactively and the software does not allow for that to be completely automated. We have created a workaround to give the retroactive pay but it needs to be automated within UltiPro.
  • Customer service is good but always a work in progress to ensure that it continues to be good. This company is growing so rapidly that it will continue to be a challenge to ensure issues are resolved as quickly as possible. Their service model will need to be continuously modified. Human interaction is critical to ensure cases are not prematurely closed or misguided.
  • Garnishments are priority based not date based which can be problematic. The choice for either way should be an option.
  • Recruitment and onboarding need to be completely integrated to reduce any redundancy.
For a company that did not previously have many automated features, this is a great solution. It also appears to be flexible for us as we grow as a company. The business intelligence capabilities will be very valuable as we learn more about the functionality. If a company does not want this much support or automation, it would not be appropriate.

UltiPro is being used by our entire company. All employees use it for payroll and general personal information. I have a larger role in using UltiPro, so I also use it for recruiting and onboarding. We also use UltiPro to sign up for our benefits.
  • Providing our employees with their payroll information at their fingertips, so they don't have to rely on someone else to provide this to them. Also having the lifetime pay history is nice.
  • I love paperless W2s. I get my tax information much earlier than I would otherwise.
  • It is very user friendly and easy to navigate.
  • In recruitment, I would love to be able to hide older applications, or have the ticker for the amount of applications change once I have gone through them so I know how many new applications I have.
  • When changing direct deposit information the only way to change from one bank account to another is to completely replace the old information. You cannot just add another account and delete the previous. Otherwise there is an issue with it not adding up to 100% (before approval).
  • When looking at candidates that have applied to a requisition, it would be nice to have page navigation buttons at the top of the page as well as at the bottom.
  • When an applicant updates their application it would be helpful if it would change their disposition back to "Applied" so it is more obvious that there has been a change to the application.
If you need to find any past pay information, then UltiPro is awesome.

UltiPro is used within the HR department, as the HRIS system, for payroll and for the benefits open enrollment process. It is used across the whole organization in the context of time management and as a communication vehicle. The major business problem it addresses is that it provides a single focal point in terms of gathering and disseminating information across and throughout the entire organization. Our company has employees dispersed across the country; it is not always easy to get everyone on the "same page". Through the use of employee webinars and the UltiPro system, we have dramatically improved our efficiency, accuracy and time to completion in such areas as Time Management, Open Enrollment and Life Events such as new hires, change in status etc.
  • Great payroll system. Allows you to manage the function in-house instead of being at the mercy of external vendors. The same can be said of the benefits enrollment module.
  • It is very user friendly. From employees using it to complete their time management or change personal data, to power users who configure modules, the system is intuitive, and easy to use.
  • The customer service is fantastic. We have several dedicated reps who always make themselves available when needed and often proactively check in. The tech support and training classes are great too. Support given during initial implementation was second to none.
  • The one area where I would like to see easier usage would be in the area of report writing. I say this having very little hands on experience with generating reports; I may feel differently if I used it more often or took a class.
I have spoken to several potential customers who were considering purchase and implementation; my main mantra is that it is a great system, best in class in my opinion. I do advise people that if they are interested in the system, that it is a hands on, participatory process; you are not paying Ultimate Software to do it all for you. Success will require providing resources to implementing and maintaining the system. So if there is a company with limited resources who is not able to dedicate ample personnel to an implementation, they can hire consultants to do so, but will need to ensure they train people accordingly.

Our company uses UltiPro to manage all of our departments and contracts. We use it for payroll but we do not use their timekeeping system. Through the use of the optional modules (recruiting and onboarding), we have the entire employee life cycle automated with UltiPro. We chose UltiPro because of their level of support and because it allowed us to integrate all our HRIS functions in one system. We had been using multiple systems to manage the same functions, and that became an operational challenge for us, with interoperability and support.
  • The implementation team is amazing in coordinating the transition from a legacy system. There is a well-developed implementation plan.
  • Ultimate becomes a partner with you in your work and they are always interested in how they can support you. They have continually refined and improved their support model.
  • They are committed to making UltiPro interoperable with other systems. Their latest project has been a relationship with Informatica to make integration a user-achievable goal.
  • Product updates are driven my customer response. They have a voting system for requested changes. Twice a year, the product receives a significant update. Not all customer requests are implemented each cycle, but they do evaluate them.
  • One area is already being addressed is the interfaces of the optional recruiting and onboarding modules. These are currently products not developed by Ultimate, so the operation is not standard across them. However, they are bringing these products in-house.
  • We just went through open enrollment, so this is foremost in my mind at the moment - open enrollment sessions are difficult to configure and copy from a prior year.
  • It would be great to have a sandbox for testing. Such an environment is available, but the commitment is for a year and the price is somewhat high. Barring access to a sandbox, extending testing capabilities to other program areas would be useful.
UltiPro is well suited as an integrated environment. Consider the timing of the conversion effort to make sure that your company has internal resources sufficient for the effort and that it integrates with your financial year. Decide if you want to purchase the optional products and consider the timing for the deployment of them in your project plan. Consider your potential growth in planning for the implementation and the cost.

Wise Consulting uses UltiPro for our HRMS needs. In addition, we implement UltiPro for other clients. UltiPro is used across the whole organization. It is a useful program that handles many of our HR and payroll needs.
  • ESS allows employees access to their payroll information without having to trouble the HR staff with simple questions.
  • MSS allows managers to perform standard UltiPro functions paperlessly and with workflow validation.
  • The reporting capabilities of Cognos, tied with the standard reporting tool allows easy access to information.
  • The GL Rules could be made more clear in the filtering.
  • Open Enrollment is always a bear, although the most recent revision has made it much better.
  • The expression builder needs better online help.

We use the product to manage all HR and Payroll functions of our organization for our 3 companies. We have employees at over 100 sites and in 10 states and we are able to effectively serve them and connect with them via our employee portal which is fantastic!
  • All of our HR and Payroll data is now stored and accessed from one site in one system.
  • Although we have 3 companies we are able to report off of them individually and together to meet our business needs.
  • Real time information is fantastic! No more waiting around for black out periods between payroll processing cycles. Keeps our down time at a minimum and delivers information back to us instantly.
  • Wage attachment functionality needs to be improved. When employees with multiple withholding orders are setup the system isn't currently equipped to calculate them without manual overrides.
The more work you do on the front end to build and understand your new system the more you will get out of it. Nothing worth having comes easy, but as a department of one I was able to balance keeping up with the day to day work along with leading our project implementation. The more you know the more you will discover what this system can do for you.

We use UltiPro core for HR and Payroll. All full time employees use self service to review personnel data, job and review history and submit PTO requests. We use the powerful Cognos usiness Intelligence tool to push reports through email to executives, managers and frontline users. When we first implemented the product in 2004 the seamless integration with Payroll was major selling factor. The product forced and helped foster a very positive work interface between our HR and Payroll groups.
  • The Business Intelligence reporting through Cognos is second to none. Any field I see I can pull into a report and analyze.
  • UltiPro has an AMAZING user group community. It's something I bring up anytime a prospective client contacts me. I get most of my answers (and shared report templates) from other users around the country
  • Ultimate Software is very forward facing. Sometimes it's frustrating when it feels like a product gets rolled out sooner than the company is ready to support it, but I still appreciate that the company is on the cutting edge of HR technology and is always looking for the very latest tools to make my job easier.
  • It can be difficult to connect with a live support person. We are assigned a Named Service Representative, which sounds good on paper, but when I have a burning question with a deadline, it can be torture to play phone tag with this rep. By the time I call back, they've moved on to the next ticket in their queue. Luckily, the user group community is so strong I can usually get the answers I need.
What our company loves about UltiPro is it's open construction - any field I see I can report on. That is powerful, but comes with a pretty steep learning curve. The product may not be the best fit for a company used to a more service-oriented model (meaning, you call support to add deduction codes or write your reports). Ultimate will do all of this for you, of course, but its power is in its openness to the front-end user.

Ultipro is used internally for payroll processing, HR transactions, performance management, time keeping, reporting, and other internal uses. It is also used as an employee portal for employees to make changes to their personal info, update tax forms, keep track of time sheets and make time off requests.
  • The overall usability is easy and user friendly
  • There are so many training options that any type of user is able to get self-paced training and quick tours for simple transactions and other items.
  • The expertise and response time of the customer support team is always great and they are a great partner for solving problems and making processes more efficient
  • Better reporting functionality in Ultipro time management
Sometimes it take a little creativity to fully utilize Ultipro to its fullest extent. For example, we are a University that must keep track of which current courses faculty are credentialed to teach and have the ability to recall this information at any time, as needed. There is no real place for this built in to Ultipro, however, there are plenty of opportunities within the system that can be utilized for this purpose. Our company uses an area that is setup as "Skills" and use it to keep track of all current courses. We can then assign this to employees, mass update it for hundreds of employees at once and also utilize the robust reporting platform (Business Intelligence) to report on current faculty and the courses they are able to teach.

We utilize UltiPro for all employees as a HR solution for our company. All employees, current and former, have access to their own information and access to their direct reports or other functional areas that they may oversee. UltiPro enables our company to do conditional workflows in order to effectively manage changes within our company. Also, a very key piece of UltiPro that we utilize is the payroll solution, which is a great feature.
